I’ve said it before, but I really appreciate your commentary. It’s rare to find a gamer/streamer who legitimately cares about what they play and provides thoughtful insight/opinions. Looking forward to this playthrough of an incredible trilogy. RIP Kevin Conroy you magnificent legend…..
It's the difference between a gamer whose genuinely interested in the art, craft and mechanics of video-games, and a "gamer" just streaming games because it's popular and a way to make easy money.
29:16 It's called Detective Comics because before Batman, the comics were anthologies, just some short stories with varying characters all focused around crimes and mysteries. In Detective Comic #27, introduced Batman. Over the years Batman's popularity grew to the point where they made strictly Batman related comics. Even going as far as changing the cover logo to "Batman's Detective Comics" until he started having comic runs with just him as the main focus. It was later rebranded becoming known as DC in the 70's (even though people called it DC even before then), as an homage to the detective comics.
Played this game on launch day in 2009, I vividly remember playing the early portions of this game with my older brother watching, and we both were completely enthralled with what we were seeing on the screen. The freedom of movement, over-the-shoulder camera, the combat system and voice-overs from the cast were simply revolutionary for the superhero genre at the time and it paved the way for the modern third-person adventure games we have today. One thing to mention - the subtitles being small like that is a byproduct of running the game in modern resolutions (I’m assuming you are in 1440p). Originally the subtitles were designed for 1080p or lower and so that’s why it shrinks them so much at anything higher than originally intended. This has always been one of my fav game series and suffice to say I will be watching every second of these videos 😁. Hope you enjoy them as much as I did!
49:18 Blond for male and Blonde for female. 56:47 Harley Quinn actually made her first appearance in the Batman: The Animated Series cartoon in 1992. But the facts page shows the comic book first appearance.
just want to come here and tell you how much i appreciate you voicing out your thoughts! that’s one of the first things i look for when i watch people is that i need them to care about what they’re playing and sometimes it’s just not their playstyle, but i could always count on you to make it interesting! thank you so much for being u kasta
The great thing about comics, including superhero comics, is that theres a big variety of them. Depending on which writer you get, there are lighthearted stories, epic tales, theres horror, gore, theres retellings of real life myths, theres drama, theres romance, theres comedy. And because it has been going on for many decades now, theres really something for everyone.
28:27 Martial artist here, being tall is definitely more beneficial in a fighting context because you can hit the opponent in a range with long kicks and strikes with the hands where the opponent can't reliably hit you back with the same tools. The stereotype of the taller fighter having trouble comes from boxing where if the shorter fighter closes the distance and gets too close, the taller fighter will have more trouble hitting the shorter fighter reliably whereas the shorter fighter will find a lot of success, but in reality the taller fighter can use close range weapons like elbows and knees to disrupt any sort of inside work by the shorter fighter. The only place where the shorter fighter will find success over the taller fighter is in wrestling, specifically with takedown defense where the taller fighter attempts to take the shorter fighter down. Due to the shorter fighter's lower center of gravity, it becomes challenging to takedown the shorter fighter, but that's about it. If you want to see all of what I mentioned in an actual fight, there is a fantastic fight between Zabit Magomedsharipov vs Kyle Bochniak in the UFC that you can watch for free on UA-cam. It pretty much reinforces everything I have mentioned.
The actor who voices batman is Kevin conroy kastaclysm he's been voicing batman since way back in the 90s he recently passed away in 2022 after a battle with cancer
So excited that your playing this Kasta. One the all time great video game franchise. Have not played it since the PS3 days so you inspired me to go through and replay the whole Arkham series as well
Yea! I love hearing Kevin & Mark Hamills great work in this series there’s no one else who does Joker & Batman better imo. They voiced em in Batman the animated series & other Justice league cartoons
I think it’s likely fair to say that the Arkham games are responsible for a rather large percentage of new/returning Batman fans in the 21st century. I know that I, personally, have been a fan of Batman my entire life, but I sort of lapsed in my fandom in high school. The summer after I graduated, The Dark Knight was released, and it reignited my passion for the character, but the Arkham franchise cemented my love for the characters and the world of Gotham forever. Rest in peace, Kevin Conroy, thank you for giving us the best version of the character for over 30 years.
I usually immediately turn off playthroughs of any game when I hear that the player has already played it before, but I gave this one a chance. My favorite part of watching people play these is their reactions to the Character Bios, and I'm so glad to see you so interested in them! I'm happy to be here, and I'm ready to go on this Arkham journey 😄
Thats how its suppose to be. Games should be played more than once, its a part of the replayability. I like to go back and play games i have as i also tend to forget what happens in the games if its been years. People dont pay £100 on games they will only play once in their life and never play again. Also the reasons you mentioned are the reasons i watch your channel. Its nice to see what others think and feel about the game and to be able to relate. Keep up the good work 🔥💯
Kevin Conroy voiced Batman in these games. I really enjoyed playing the arkham games. I hope that one day we will finally get a Batman Beyond game. And i am surprised that we still haven't gotten a Batman Beyond live action movie. The series and the return of the joker movie were good.
Remember, these Batman Arkham games were released years apart from one another, so their is no need to binge them all at once. I also had dropped mass effect after 100% completing the first one, and when I started 2, I just felt too burned out to continue with it. So I understand why you would want to break the games up and play others.
Was gonna say I played this in 2009 when it came out I was 7 and my mum bought it for me and think it started my obsession for batman and superhero games to this day🤣 so please enjoy the ride🙌
I played this on release day, and even though the other games in the series are great, this game was groundbreaking when it came out and I still remember being blown away by everything. I really loved the dense but focused gameplay of Arkham Asylum. Every corner had something and absolutely nothing was wasted. It was the only game I got 100% on without it ever feeling tedious. As for the look and feel of this game, it's basically the grown-up version of the 90's Animated Series. The voice acting, look of Batman's suit (they took the black and grey animated suit and basically converted it to a realistic 3d look), and the villains -- everything is inspired that series. It's hard to explain how it feels to have played this game at release, but it really did feel like I was going back into my childhood.
I liked Asylum, loved City, but was disappointed by Knight. I heard Origins is actually underrated but haven't played for myself. Looking forward to seeing them all!
One of my favourite games, I kind of grew out of games but I can always get pulled in by something that really sucks me in. This is one of those games, immensely fun.
I played the demo for this game so many times and I got both Asylum and City pretty soon after they released. I get the itch to play them every few years and wish they made more.
Hey Kastaclysm--super stoked to have you jump into the Arkham series, it's one of my favourite renditions of the Batman mythos. I just wanted to answer your question about Detective Comics. Batman debuted in Detective Comics #27 in May 1939 (as you know), which was an anthology comic filled with detective stories. When Batman was introduced, he became so popular so quickly that he became the lead feature in the book. As his popularity exploded, he expanded into numerous other comics, including his own title, as well as cameos & other appearances in other monthly titles. Also, to give you a tip on the combat and improve your combos, you should treat the game as a rhythm game. Button-mashing is not your friend in the Arkham series. Once you find the rhythm of the combat, your combos will skyrocket.
I literally revisited this game also though just a little before you. I played it first back in 2009 when it came with my PS3. I was 9 years old and lost my favorite game at the time (I was a big Transformers movie fan, Revenge of the Fallen was my favorite game at the time and I couldn't remember where I put it). I gave this game a try and didn't know what the hell to do, I ended up just not liking it. I eventually played Arkham City a little bit when it came out (rented from Blockbuster), didn't give Origins much thought and then Arkham Knight I was actually kind of hyped hearing about the Batmobile and surprised about all the talk that a 360 or PS3 disc couldn't even fit the batmobile making it only for the One, PS4, and PC. I played Arkham Knight and whenever I play I get hooked for hours. I saw a few years ago that they made the Return to Arkham Collection and decided to go ahead and buy it for Xbox when I saw it a little later on sale. I recently decided to revisit Asylum, it was nice to see where Rocksteady started with Batman. Besides getting my ass handed to me by the Poison Ivy boss and arena fight before Joker, it wasn't too bad. I eventually finished the story and might just keep it at that. Might go back and play City eventually, might check out Origins, and probably play Arkham Knight for the hundredth time. Have fun with the game Kasta, Just waiting for when you play Spider-Man 2.
One reason I was always a fan of Batman was that he wasn't miraculously granted powers, he was just an ordinary human man (well, an ordinary man afforded the resources of very rich parents) who pushed himself to the physical/mental edge to be best-equipped to combat crime.
looking forward to watching this. it would have been cool if there were different suits in this. It's one of the things I loved in the new spider man games!
Batman is my favorite hero of all. And he is the main reason for my being a hardcore DC comics fan and why I want to make a 3D animated DC franchise of my own.
I recently read the Batman comics, in order from the beginning (as much as I could, the '50s-'70s were rough). The oldest ones are actually amazing. Reading them is like time travelling, in a way. I know it's fictional, but it was created in 1939, and the style and stories reflect that in such a unique way. The language used, the comedy, the artstyle, all are really awesome to see. Even what we know today as deeply established facts about Batman hadn't been set yet; he used a gun and actually killed people back then. It was only a few years later when the writers decided it was a bad look for heroes to kill people, and even later, they finally gave Batman's character a real reason to never kill: he never wants to become the same as the man who killed his parents. What's really hilarious, though, is that the Batmobile didn't exist until a while later. Batman just drove around a BRIGHT RED CAR and just parked it outside of the places he went, in plain view of everyone. I always thought that was great XD If you ever get a chance, find a way to read those old comics, it's absolutely worth it. There are ways to find them to read online, but they're kind of sus, so you may not want to do that. It's how I did, though.
"Batman: The Animated Series" the show from the 90's that I watched as a child is available on Amazon Prime for members and I highly recommended it. Surprisingly dark and adult for a "children's" show with great painted backdrops, animation, voice work and music. I gravitated to the more serious shows that weren't so saccarin.
I recommend the animated series if you haven't watched it already and Fiddlesticks. I haven't heard that in a long time. 👍👍 I really enjoy your commentary, and enthusiasm of this gameplay keep up the great work.
@Kastaclysm I was actually watching SpongeBob the other day, and it was an episode where Mermaid Man says OH FIDDLESTICKS!!! SpongeBob use this only when it's a real emergency. 😂😂
@@Kastaclysm I found out some things about Arkham City Batman can leave the prison in some unusual way . there is a secret room where Riddler does his broadcasting messages it is possible to save a hostage without going through the entire course and the decryptor can reveal this secret code message if done right . we need more heroes in the world today . and protect yourself from all scam organizations that are bad . 👍👍
Batman Arkham Asylum is no joke. You have to take it seriously and BE THE BATMAN. Also the more you play the game, the harder it gets! The black gate prisoners will push you to the limit. So good luck 👍🏾
Not only did Harley Quinn first appear in Batman: The Animated Series but the role was originated by the late Arleen Sorkin, who also voiced her in this game. The game owes a lot to that series, as it's also where Kevin Conroy and Mark Hamill first did the voices for Bruce Wayne/Batman and The Joker, respectively.
I just completed a playthrough of all 4 games but still isn't satisfied so this is great. Don't worry about the riddler trophies, they're not as bad as other people say, especially compared to other games and their collectables.
I bet that subtitles size depends on the resolution. Can you lower the resolution to 1080p? It would help me drastically, cause in this size I can't see anything. 😟
"Wonder how often he has to keep his roots dyed"....his hair being green and his crazy smile is a side-effect of him falling into a vat of chemicals at "Axis Chemical".....also what drove him insane.
52:50 -- one of the big features of this game on release is that it used PhysX for your cape (as well as other stuff like papers flying in the wind). It was super impressive when it first came out. I also remember that you could actually buy a dedicated PhysX card for you PC to get those effects, but just before this game came out, nVidia bought them out and integrated PhysX into their video card drivers. I think the weird leaves might be a bug with PhysX on new hardware/drivers. I think those leaves are supposed to drift around in a very nice way.
I played Arkham Asylum first time in 2009😁It's fantastic game!😁I finished it many many times. And it's always special😊I never played City,Knights or Origins either. I watched City walkthrough. I collect Riddler trophies and puzzles to piss him off😀I played nornal difficulty only once. Few days ago. Finished. Watched too 34.28 with skipping
Batman is voiced by the late Kevin Conroy. For many of us our age, Kevin was the voice we grew up with for Batman if you were into the animated series. That series also gave way to the Superman Animated series and then eventually, The Justice League. Conroy has also voiced Batman in many other projects since then up until his death. The year before Kevin died, one of my friends passed the Bar Exam, and his brother paid for a cameo recording of Kevin congratulating him. If you want a more intimate look at Kevin's journey with Batman, and other major parts of his career and life, he appeared on a podcast episode called Inside of You with Michael Rosenbaum. Michael is well known for playing Lex Luthor on the Smallville TV series, but he also voiced The Flash on The Justice League animated series and worked closely with Kevin 33:35 if you want to see the effects of that Joker toxin, one of my first times seeing it was in the movie Batman: Mask of the Phantasm. As a kid I thought it was pretty silly but as I grew, it became very haunting. The "failed comedian, broken family man, and petty thief" is probably the, or the most traditional backstory for The Joker. I think in more recent iterations, writers have leaned more towards ambiguity and mystery with him, especially with Heath Ledger's take who always changes his story when he monologues about his scars. I remember seeing a reddit post about Joker somewhere saying something along the lines of "If I was to have a backstory, I'd want it to be multiple choice"
15:19 fun fact in this universe and in the comics joker doesn’t actually dye his hair or wear makeup he actually got disfigured in a heist gone wrong falling in a vat of chemicals that permanently bleached his skin white and turned his hair green! He needs makeup to make himself look normal when in disguise.
32:30 & 33:50 One of the intriguing aspects of the Joker is that we have never been given a definitive origin story. His past, his real name, and his family background remain a mystery. Various comics have offered different "origin stories," but none have been confirmed as the true backstory. In the modern comics, there is an interesting development involving the Mobius Chair, an artifact that grants the user all knowledge. When Batman sat on the Mobius Chair, he asked for the Joker's true name, and the chair responded with three names. This revelation suggests that there might be multiple Jokers, which was later explored in a comic titled "Three Jokers." I appreciate that the Joker's true identity remains a secret or is unknown, as it adds to his enigmatic and chaotic nature.
Animated Series Batman Recommendations: Batman: The Animated series, The Batman(Kids WB),If you want goofy(Without Adam West) and a lot of Superhero Crossovers, Batman Brave and the Bold,And that's good to start with.
I think its better for fighters to be tall. It means that you can reach the opponent before he can reach you, and it often correlates with higher strength.
So about building your combo, remember: one button, one punch! If you throw out an attack that doesn't connect, you lose your combo. Batman ain't no button masher 😉
32:28 The Joker has been given a few names for a few different versions. In the 1989 movie, simply called "Batman", the Joker's character was very different from the comics, opting to make him more of a gangster, more focused on the organized crime side of his character than the mad side. That movie even went so far as to give that version of him a name: Jack Napier. Of course, that's only one version of him. Other times, in a few different comics and cartoons, he has been called Jack White, though most of the time, this is considered as just another of the Joker's many made-up backstories. He likes to make up stories about his past, because he's so insane that he prefers his backstory to be multiple-choice. Jack White is just one of those choices.
Honestly in my opinion with the laugh, dark comedy, bc he is a clown after all, Mark Hamill performance is THE BEST Joker alongside the troubled heartfelt CLASSIC AND TRUEST FORM Kevin Conroy Batman performance
16:44 Don’t know if the world’s greatest detective missed the flask on the officers belt or not. Still, it’s a hilarious detail 😅 maybe it’s a perk of the night shift?
I’ve said it before, but I really appreciate your commentary. It’s rare to find a gamer/streamer who legitimately cares about what they play and provides thoughtful insight/opinions. Looking forward to this playthrough of an incredible trilogy.

Rule of thumb for Arkham games, if it isn't generic looking assets then hold to scan cause there's a good chance it's part of Riddler's challenge.
with how detailed everything is, I feel like nothing is a generic looking asset

I always thought that was great XD
If you ever get a chance, find a way to read those old comics, it's absolutely worth it. There are ways to find them to read online, but they're kind of sus, so you may not want to do that. It's how I did, though.
Nothing conspicuous at all about a man in a bat suit driving a bright red car 😂
The Detective comic issues have actually reached the 1,000 mark if I'm not mistaken
Let’s gooo, been waiting on the next Batman related upload lol
One of my fav games! First time running into your channel and I love your videos and commentary!❤️💯
The Arkham series are well worth playing!
I recommend the animated series if you haven't watched it already and Fiddlesticks. I haven't heard that in a long time.
👍👍
I really enjoy your commentary, and enthusiasm of this gameplay keep up the great work.
Fiddlesticks 😆
@Kastaclysm
I was actually watching SpongeBob the other day, and it was an episode where Mermaid Man says OH FIDDLESTICKS!!! SpongeBob use this only when it's a real emergency.
😂😂

we need more heroes in
the world today .
and protect yourself from all scam
organizations that are bad .
👍👍
Batman Arkham Asylum is no joke. You have to take it seriously and BE THE BATMAN. Also the more you play the game, the harder it gets! The black gate prisoners will push you to the limit. So good luck 👍🏾
I remember when I followed you a while ago you had 2.14 subs . 91 k now! That grind tho!
The key to getting a your combos is to take your time and listen to the rhythm of your hits.
Kasta's so cool is just a time to remember
I bet that subtitles size depends on the resolution. Can you lower the resolution to 1080p? It would help me drastically, cause in this size I can't see anything. 😟
Checked the game running in 1080p - the subtitle size did not change for me :(
My brain refused to realize this wasn't another Telltale game until 10 minutes in.
Definitely play city and knight after this playthrough thanks so much for the entertainment and awesome content as always kasta 😎💯
The toxin they mention was, if I remember correctly, created originally for the 90's cartoon so they could make Joker threatening without using guns.
"Wonder how often he has to keep his roots dyed"....his hair being green and his crazy smile is a side-effect of him falling into a vat of chemicals at "Axis Chemical".....also what drove him insane.
fun fact : harley quin was supposed to be a one off henchmen in the cartoon but was so popular she became a mainstay
I just found you!! I like the twitch style let's play without chat messing you up!! Keep doing what you're doing!
Welcome aboard 😊
Hell yeah the Arkham Series 😎💯
52:50 -- one of the big features of this game on release is that it used PhysX for your cape (as well as other stuff like papers flying in the wind). It was super impressive when it first came out. I also remember that you could actually buy a dedicated PhysX card for you PC to get those effects, but just before this game came out, nVidia bought them out and integrated PhysX into their video card drivers.
I think the weird leaves might be a bug with PhysX on new hardware/drivers. I think those leaves are supposed to drift around in a very nice way.
Hey I'm new to the channel I love your voice you sound like a very down to earth person you are doing a great job with the videos I will watch more
Welcome to the channel 😊
I agree with you Batman and Catwoman is perfect for each other
I played Arkham Asylum first time in 2009😁It's fantastic game!😁I finished it many many times. And it's always special😊I never played City,Knights or Origins either. I watched City walkthrough. I collect Riddler trophies and puzzles to piss him off😀I played nornal difficulty only once. Few days ago. Finished. Watched too 34.28 with skipping
Sky and Kasta are my favorite Gamers on UA-cam
Michael is well known for playing Lex Luthor on the Smallville TV series, but he also voiced The Flash on The Justice League animated series and worked closely with Kevin
33:35 if you want to see the effects of that Joker toxin, one of my first times seeing it was in the movie Batman: Mask of the Phantasm.
This and Arkham City are peak Batman for me! I wouldn't blame anyone for tapping out halfway through Knight tho 😅
Detective Comics was the original name of DC,I think that's what it's referring to.
It’s almost like this is easily accessible information to be searched up online
Loving the ant sized subtitles haha 😜
😜
Yes your playing my favorite gameeee
32:30 & 33:50 One of the intriguing aspects of the Joker is that we have never been given a definitive origin story. His past, his real name, and his family background remain a mystery. Various comics have offered different "origin stories," but none have been confirmed as the true backstory.
In the modern comics, there is an interesting development involving the Mobius Chair, an artifact that grants the user all knowledge. When Batman sat on the Mobius Chair, he asked for the Joker's true name, and the chair responded with three names. This revelation suggests that there might be multiple Jokers, which was later explored in a comic titled "Three Jokers."
I appreciate that the Joker's true identity remains a secret or is unknown, as it adds to his enigmatic and chaotic nature.
Looks like the game is following the convention of using 'blonde' with an e for describing women's hair, and 'blond' for men's hair
Yesss Batman
Let's gooo 😁
I mean it's also just a good excuse to go back and visit some great performances by the great Kevin Conroy and Mark Hamill
16:44 Don’t know if the world’s greatest detective missed the flask on the officers belt or not. Still, it’s a hilarious detail 😅 maybe it’s a perk of the night shift?
