Every day I’d come home from school and play Arkham Asylum to get me through the week. Kevin Conroy played a huge part in making Batman the iconic character he is today. Tom Hardy who played Bane in Dark Knight Rises based Bane more on Bartley Gorman, a Romani bare-knuckle fighter and a boxer who is often dubbed The King Of The Gypsies. So a very differant take on the character that moved away from his Latin side, Bane himself visually was more Militant looking in the movie as well so it's unique take on the character that by itself was amazing but again it's a departure from the Bane of the comics. The Bane you saw in the Batman: The Telltale Series series is closer to his Latin counterpart as well just smaller, Batman: The Telltale Series in general has it's own takes on these characters that do differ slightly to the comics, mostly in designs and origins. While the Arkham games follow closer to the comics while also pulling heavily from the Batman Animated Series. Paul Dini wrote the Arkham Asylum and City who was a main writer behind the Animated Series alongside Bruce Timm so it's no surprise that the games pull heavily from the series. Also features many of the same voice actors as well and the design of Gotham, more so in Arkham City, Origins and Knight is pulled right out of the Animated Series going for a timeless 1930s Gothic meets Art Deco look and feel.
So beings tour journey into one of the best superhero game trilogy ever. I really like how you take the time to read the biographies and learn about the Batman mythos.
Good for you for going into the visitor center! I’ve seen so many play throughs where the player never goes in there. You can keep going in there after every part of the game and get new dialogues from Joker.

When Bane broke his back, when the second Robin died, when the fifth Robin died, when his city is completely destroyed by an earthquake... These stories from the comics are so incredibly memorable because they challenge Batsy in all sorts of ways, and he always pushes his way through and grows as a person with each step.
The Dr Fine, Dr Howard thing is in reference to the Three Stooges, whose last names were (Moe) Howard, (Larry) Fine, and (Curly) Howard. Also this game is the only one where Harley Quinn's original VA from BTAS (who the character was partly based on) voiced the character in this series.
You're playing this game well. It's fun watching you figure things out *Tip: Listen to the henchmen's convos...they can give you insight to certain characters and backstory to the current objectives. They're funny too lol
To fix the leaves you may want to try updating your drivers. There are lots of physics effects in the environment that aren’t working, the leaves being one of them.
Bane in DKR was respectable, however I don't like his voice. His portrayal was done quite well. Bane is extremely smart as opposed to simply being a brute as showcased in Batman & Robin. He's def one of Batman's best in his rogues gallery.
1:00 -- Joker going "Mine, mine, mine, mine, MINE!" has me cracking up, every time! Hamill was born to play him. The "Dr. Howard, Dr. Fine, Dr. Howard" joke is a reference to the Three Stooges; in one of their short films, they played doctors, and that was how they were paged on the intercom. 12:44 -- that was the answer to a riddle; it was right in front of you, but the riddle itself wasn't mentioned yet. 1:01:47 -- you need to stand by the hole you blew up, at a certain angle, and scan. When you grabbed the 1st Riddler map, the answer to one of his riddles was RIGHT next to it. The teddy bear.
My guess with the Joker tape is that he is featured, for obvious reasons, in Harley's tapes, so it sounds familiar because they are her sessions with him... unless it's the exact same conversation you're remembering, in which case..🤷♂️
Fun Fact: The creators of the game didn't know if the game would be successful enough to make sequels, so they made this game under the idea of which villains in Batman's rogue's gallery challenge him the most mentally and physically. So that's how they decided which villains to incorporate in this game. Which is also why they wrote the story in a way that it could stand alone as a solo outing but also still kind of open enough to possible sequels. 🤓🦇

Batman's biggest fear is failure. Failing his parents. Failing the ones he cares about. Failing Gotham. Joker's is similar. Joker is deeply twisted by the idea that people have no resolve and will abandon their principals for self preservation. His biggest fear is being proven wrong. Having his philosophy tested and being proven to be a madman.

Joker’s first tape just sounds a lot like Harley’s, but you didn’t hear it before. As for The Dark Knight Rises, I didn’t like that trilogy. First I can’t stand Christian Bale. Second I hated the liberties Hollywood took and changed the back story of what we grew up with. I watched them once, but not again. As for these games though, they are what I expect from Batman. These are very well done, and have a high replayability. I’ve played all four numerous times. They never get old to me :) Glad you are enjoying it too :)

I don't know how much you know of DC's comics, but the simple rundown is this: 1939-1985: The "Pre-Crisis Era", when things were simple. There were rarely any serious Batman stories, but the ones that were serious were pretty good. There were way too many of the same kinds of stories along the way; I sort of skipped through as I was reading a bunch of them, but there were way too many "Batman goes to space!" or "Batman gets married!" or "Batman fights a giant monster!" or "Batman fights a giant monster robot, in space!" or "Batman gets married, again!" and it kinda got ridiculous, but there were the occasional great stories, which introduced many of the beloved characters we know today and set up the groundwork for all that was to come after. The "Crisis on Infinite Earths" event of 1985 was the first big multiverse event in DC history, and long story short, it ended with a reset of the entire universe (though it kept some of the better parts of the first era cannon). Batman's backstory was largely unchanged, because it was still very fitting for the character, but many other characters got full reworks. 1985-2011: "Post-Crisis Era / Modern Era" Mine and many others' personal favorite era of Batman comics, this era made Batman the dark and brooding, gruff, angry, and deep character we know him to be. The '90s held some of the best Batman stories, in my opinion. There were the Cataclysm and No Man's Land arcs, which see Batman and the entirety of Gotham hit by a massive earthquake, and the villains taking over the whole city in different districts. There was the Knightfall arc, where Bruce was worn down systematically and painfully by one villain after another over the course of months in preparation for Bane's first arrival in Gotham, and by the time he got there, Bruce could barely even get himself out of bed. Bane had already deduced Batman's identity by this time, so he went straight to Wayne Manor to declare his victory, leading us to eventually see Bane snap Batman's spine. There were many other great parts of this era, but this is already getting long so I'll just move on XD 2011-2016: "The New 52 Era" was started during the "Flashpoint" event, where the Flash accidentally resets the universe (to make a long story short--it's a good story though). This era was a bit of a mess at times, but it had some good points. The main thing to take away from this era is that it took all the main parts of the story from the previous eras and condensed them from a 25-year timeline to a 6-year timeline, in order to make room for more stories without the characters getting too old in-universe. This caused a bunch of continuity errors, and a lot of the different comics kinda did their own things, so it was hard to follow in the right order. A lot of it was still really good though, so it was a lot of high highs, and a lot of low lows. 2016-present: The "Rebirth" era is one I don't know much about. As of right now, I am at the very end of the New 52 era in my reading, so you'll have to ask someone else about this XD A lot of the stories from the comics are cannon in the Arkham games, with changes to fit what the writers were going for. As of Batman: Arkham Asylum, Bruce has been the Bat for about 11 years or so, and has experienced a lot of the Post-Crisis Era's stories, but not all.
FYI Batman doesn’t take damage from standing close to a wall when you detonate the explosive gel every walkthrough I watch y’all are always trying to keep your distance lol

By the time you get to Arkham Knight the combat system gets very intuitive and buttery smooth. Some helpful hints: When in doubt, look up. Whenever you enter a new situation or location scan it using detective-vision to give you the “heads up” on what’s around you. You can destroy the Joker teeth by quick firing a Batarang using the RT button. No need to aim. Every doorway is a save point. To save your progress just walk through any door. How did I feel about Bane in the Dark Knight Rises movie? Well.. I try really hard to pretend he doesn't exist :D The characters and voice actors for these characters in this series are iconic and I grew up with them for decades. This game series is loosely based off of Batman: The Animated Series which is a lot more accurate to the actual comics than the movies have been. The movies are good, but they are so very different from the comics. It's hard to compare them. I am really excited to see you go through this series and lean more about the comic origins of these characters!

When you got outside the buildings I was reminded that this isn't the Return to Arkham edition since it rains the entire time in that. Probably haven't seen this version since the comparison videos when RtA was coming out. As for movie Bane, he is batting 2-2 on being the stooge for that movies lady villain.
Normally, when people are in prison, there’s nothing to do just work out and talk to people eat and go to sleep. people do that every day that’s why they’re ripped all the time when they get out of prison most people
You know when you were in the Penitentiary building across the Medical Facility building, in 12:34, in the men's bathroom you were just in, by that mirror, there was a Riddler puzzle you had to scan with yor detective mode by holding the detective mode button and you solve a Riddler puzzle, you'll also find outside of the Penitentiary building something of Zsasz, and you might find easter eggs of other enemies and criminals of Batman such as in the Medical Facility building, a cage of Killer Croc and something of Fire Fly in 43:25 by some news paper by some wardrobe looking thing in the Observation room and something of Hush in 50:45 by some board on a wall right beside an electric door, all three things in the building when you try to find and save some doctors, in the Botanic Gardens, something of the Mad Hatter, something of Ratcatcher and Killer Moth, and so much more besides finding Riddler trophies.
Damn Mags, I know what you're singing in your intro but it cut off before you gave me enough and now I'm being driven mad because I wanna sing but don't remember what's next lol. This is one of my favourite games, the detective stuff and yknow, actually feeling like Batman are my favourite things about this game. And the combat is addictive af.
The reason why is because Batman's villains are so flamboyant or colorful, so they at first sight come off ridiculous. Then you realize, no they're on par with some of the more gruesome and horrific serial killers in existence lol.
I thought that the Dark Knight Trilogy were all good movies, but weren't good Batman movies. I think it's because I grew up with The Animated Series, so watching Bale's Batman, I kept thinking, "I like this, and the performances from everyone are great, but it's still not Batman to me."
You got some bad gaming habits. Stop for the love of God stop button mashing during combat! If you get greedy your going to lose your combo. best tip I can give you is to evade double tap X to leap over an enemy after hitting him and repeat to the next guy. if you miss an attack you lose the combo, if you move without evading, you lose your combo, if you get hit you lose your combo.

You know when you were in the Penitentiary building across the Medical Facility building, in 12:34, in the men's bathroom you were just in, by that mirror, there was a Riddler puzzle you had to scan with yor detective mode by holding the detective mode button and you solve a Riddler puzzle, you'll also find outside of the Penitentiary building something of Zsasz, and you might find easter eggs of other enemies and criminals of Batman such as in the Medical Facility building, a cage of Killer Croc and something of Fire Fly in 43:25 by some news paper by some wardrobe looking thing in the Observation room and something of Hush in 50:45 by some board on a wall right beside an electric door, all three things in the building when you try to find and save some doctors, in the Botanic Gardens, something of the Mad Hatter, something of Ratcatcher and Killer Moth, and so much more besides finding Riddler trophies.

This is one of my favourite games, the detective stuff and yknow, actually feeling like Batman are my favourite things about this game. And the combat is addictive af.

The reason why is because Batman's villains are so flamboyant or colorful, so they at first sight come off ridiculous. Then you realize, no they're on par with some of the more gruesome and horrific serial killers in existence lol.

I thought that the Dark Knight Trilogy were all good movies, but weren't good Batman movies. I think it's because I grew up with The Animated Series, so watching Bale's Batman, I kept thinking, "I like this, and the performances from everyone are great, but it's still not Batman to me."

You got some bad gaming habits. Stop for the love of God stop button mashing during combat! If you get greedy your going to lose your combo. best tip I can give you is to evade double tap X to leap over an enemy after hitting him and repeat to the next guy. if you miss an attack you lose the combo, if you move without evading, you lose your combo, if you get hit you lose your combo.
I think in this game the Joker is wayyyy too skinny that he needs to be and by contrast Batman is way too buffed and muscular that he needs to be.
