In Ukraine, we see the Ka-52 in action, with its incredible survivability, when this helicopter can avoid a salvo of large numbers of American and British missiles and continues to fly even with its tail torn off. I doubt that Apache will show this result. This is a helicopter built on an outdated base, it does not even have an ejection system. Apaches were certainly good in the 80s and 90s, but after the Russians built the Aligator, those days are gone

Apache and K-52 helicopters were really designed for two different combat functions. The Apache was designed for nap of the earth ambush attack. The K- 52 was designed for a higher reconnaissance attack mode. The idea of the K-52 was to attack from a distance and to spot targets for other ground systems. This is why the Apache has targeting pod on top of the rotor while the K-52 it's pod is underneath. Essentially the two helicopters will function best in different environments an terrain. Since the K-52 operates at higher altitudes the pilot ejection system makes sense while the Apache operating at low altitude does not have such a system (The Apache does have energy absorbing landing gear and seats to make nap of earth shoot downs more survivable.). Both helicopters would have trouble doing what the other helicopter is designed to do. Both are very good helicopters.

In my opinion, both cars are good, comparing them "head-on" is incorrect. Apache is trying to close the entire range of tasks of attack helicopters with one machine of different modifications, and the crocodile always has a friend "Cheburashka" (Mi-28) nearby.
The Ka-52 is certainly a "tough nut to crack" - we all saw him calmly return home with his tail torn off, who accompanied him? Most likely it is the Mi-28, they have been working in pairs for a long time.*

Before we get sidetracked, we are discussing the performance of the Ka-52, which means the full potential of the Ka-52. So while you may be right about the additional losses, those losses were the result of poor use.
Now, during the Ukrainian Zaparozhye offensive, this is where the Ka-52s are unleashing their full potential, hence why I’m mentioning the Zaparozhye front. Also, there’s footage of a Ka-52 that had dodged 16 Stingers before finally getting hit on the tail, and the crew still managed to fly that thing back to base.
Please note that the Ka-52s are currently engaging a powerful enemy supplied with modern, strong air defences from NATO. The AH-64 Apache meanwhile has had only engaged weak and ill-equipped forces and insurgents with little to no air defences. And even then, we’ve had multiple cases of Apache losses. So why hype up the Ka-52 losses when the Apache also suffered losses?

  • @SailingRhapsode

The KA52 can take a hammering, is slightly quicker and more maneuverable. It's real advantage is if it gets so badly hit, the pilot and crew can still survive by ejecting and live to fly and fight another day. In the same scenario, the Apache pilot/crew is doomed to go down with the helicopter. If I was spending the money, I would definitely not buy the Apache if given the option of the KA52.

To be fair i think which ultimately is better is more dictated by crew doctrine and skill as well as tactics and not the least support and overall joint forces cooperations etc play a massive part.
Neither of these are wonder weapons.
One thing that has impressed me though is how sturdy the KA-52 is and has really shown the advantages or having a coacial rotor system as they don't spin out of controll as fast as the more conventional helicopters designs like the Apache, Hind and Havoc and seems to have a much higher chance of a controlled crashlanding. I would not be surprised if we see new western helicopter designs with that pop up after seeing this in Ukraine.

A helicopter with coaxial rotors has relatively small dimensions, is quite compact, which simplifies its maintenance, storage, transportation, and expands its scope. Small dimensions, reducing the mass difference, create small moments of inertia, so the helicopter has high angular speeds of rotation and high maneuverability. The symmetrical layout with minimal propeller spacing simplifies piloting in gusty wind conditions, which is especially valuable when working from ships or in mountainous terrain. No bulky tail

Truth of the matter is manpads of any brand, will bring down helicopters, regardless what kind. The Coaxial heli's which is more a Russian design than Western, has been used on their carriers in the past.I am not sure if it increases speed. But to me, side by side cockpit presents a wider target for froontal attack.

However, if we hypothesize a scenario where the U.S. operates the KA-52, and the two helicopters go head-to-head with U.S. pilots, I predict a 50-50 outcome in terms of aerial engagements. The KA-52 is indeed a formidable machine. Yet, lessons from the Ukrainian conflict with Russia underscore that efficacy in warfare is not solely reliant on sophisticated machinery. Theres some up and down between these choppers, the pilot on the k-52 can control the guns and shoot like a jet. Now the apache can only fire the guns by the second seater only which sucks ass now inmagine there is only one person in each of these choppers and go at it in close range dog fight who will win? The k-52 will win.

Yo elijo el k52 ya solo el hecho de no usar rotor de cola le dan mayor rango de súper vivencia en combate como se ve en el vídeo del k 52 q regresa a base si su cola trasera ! En Ucrania .

Apaches did not participate in the aggression against Serbia and Srna Gora in 1999, because they would have ended up like the invisible F-117 in the mud.
