Not only does Desmond's book pay homage to the outstanding craftsmanship of Irish furniture makers it also references the discriminatory attitudes of British aristocrats towards those whom they percieved from within the Irish landed gentry as being 'semi uncivilsed,' a label which was profoundly inept and factually incorrect.
