You are absolutely right Jessica. I was in Monaco a few months ago in August, and my God the pretentious and ostentatious behavior going on all around me from there all the way to Saint Tropez was disturbing. The irony of it all was the highlight of my trip, in terms of the people I met. We’re a Russian family from France, descended from the White Russians who escaped The October Revolution in over a century ago. They were Russians unlike the Russians I have met in Russia let alone the oligarchs in Monaco and Eze. Class, modesty, humility, erudites, and extremely well-versed in almost everything. As a hopeless bibliophile, I was extremely thrilled and privileged to have met them.

Its interesting that only women seem to find him annoying in the comments. I found his way of moderating her overtelling quite humorous, even though he obviously has no clue.

He's your typical entitled toff, but he's punching above his weight here. Turns out he's just another lecherous middle aged moron. She should show him the door and pull up the drawbridge.
your comment seems to make you the waste of space, you don't know them yet you feel entitled to opinionate? really? that would be like me talking about yourlife even tho i don't know you.
I watched this video a year ago. And all the comments were like "they're such a lovely couple" "Dominic is so funny, his wife loves him". Now everybody is like "shut up, respect your wife".
That tour was amazing...a bit short to be honest...I could listen to her for hours....the architecture, the design, the history, the furniture, the colors, the gardens...everything was so enchanting...who wouldn't live there?...they should open the castle's doors to the public so ordinary people can enjoy this masterpiece 😊
My god, this woman is delightful! I wanna hear her talk for hours. She's so touching, passionate and loving. She appreciates her home and learns from it everyday, it takes a huge heart to renovate a place like that and at the same time preserve its history, to be so attached to it, to keep her ancestors alive. I'm thankful to her for what she shared in this video, I loved it!
He’s so annoying. He keeps interrupting her. I’m sure what she has to say is way more interesting and educational than what he keeps interrupting her to say...
wtf are you talking about!? she's the one talking 99% of the time. If this was instead an episode on a female celebrity and her husband took over the show you would've had a field day with that one as well.
Is it just me or, is he being awfully rude to his wife? Why does he keep interrupting her? It's her family's home, where is his home for his family that he purchased? He needs to be quiet and respectful of his wife and let her give the public the tour of her family's Castle! How rude!
@@andinarizkia He never bought the house, where on earth did you come to that conclusion, This house has been in his wife's family for centuries, all he bought is a wedding ring. And no, that doesn't make him partly owner. My family owns a few castles in France, Scotland and Scandinavia, i inherited three estates and i am married, but i can assure you, only my name is on the deeds. Estates are transmitted solely by blood not by marriage. My kids will own them some day, not my spouse, not even if i die.
I have no idea who these people are, but they are a cute couple, what an amazing legacy to live in a castle that belong to your great great great great great great.......
He's a well known actor and they were in college together, Trinity College Dublin. The Fitzgeralds are Irish aristocracy from Norman times. Glin Castle is their ancestral home but West and Fitzgerald had to buy it from her mother. She didn't inherit it. It's as much his house as hers now. He married well. She's beautiful, clever and wonderfully elegant.
Love these two; just so down to earth and at ease with each other - he's beautifully mad (not literally) and she's so serene and calm - and that lovely home they are both a part of.
but you have to understand the class element here tho... normal working class people cannot trace their ancestry like this in the same way because they were unimportant...
This does not show him in a good light. Compared to her he's a little overpowering and seems a bit too keen to hog the limelight as he often jumps or does something dramatic to shift the attention back to him. Sometimes fun, well meaning actors do this when they're around shy or quiet people to take the pressure off of them, but it doesn't come across well in this clip. Being a more subtle supporting act would have been better. Would be nice to hear more about her plant hunting trip to Mongolia.
@@sarahholland2600 yes but with all due RESPECT there unfortunately may be something even worse going on with West and many male cheaters. I fear there is an intense degree of SELFISHNESS manifesting. I, as a man, witness all the time. As a man gets older his reaction to mortality's march is to attempt to regain youth. So many many times you will see such loving, loyal and sacrificing women DUMPED by husbands partially or largely because of VANITY by the male. Women show aging differently than men. And be honest, social standards are very unforgiving to women about aging. Men are allowed to gray and wrinkle. I REBUKE West for publicly treating the mother of his children with so much DISRESPECT. Sad.

this woman is so lucky to have grown up surrounded by her family's history like this, and get to live in the same house that her ancestors lived in hundreds of years ago. im jewish american, so because of pogroms forcing my ancestors out of europe and immigrating to america, i will never get to know what my ancestors were like or where they lived. and even if i could, the houses and towns they once lived in are probably completely gone. it's so rare to have such a strong connection to your past like this, im glad to see how much they both care about preserving the home, and keeping the memory of all of these people alive. not everyone is able to do that!!

Felicity Joy that is what she said.
It’s just called good manners
Yes, he looked so proud of her.
i LOVE THE WAY HE SEEMS TO SLIGHTLY ANNOY HER.
I would think a little more than slightly now.
Delightful. Catherine is wonderful. Her lovely voice and enthusiasm are infectious. She’d be a great host/presenter for TV programme on the history of her beautiful home. Dominic would be best left at home! 😊
"And we hope you come back to see us again soon. "
First AD video where I've heard that much politeness. ❤️

I like the wife very much. I like how she nurtures and preserves her ancestry. And she seems very passionate about plants.
She said She's a landscape designer.
IF HE INTERRUPTS HER BEAUTIFUL POETIC SENTENCE ONE MORE TIME I’M GOING TO SCREAM
I was annoyed too.
Its interesting that only women seem to find him annoying in the comments. I found his way of moderating her overtelling quite humorous, even though he obviously has no clue.
@@mobe6889 nah, man. He was insufferable.
@@mobe6889 I don't know what that's supposed to mean. But that gut is quite dumb and knows nothing about his wife's magnificent house.
He hates it when he isn't the focus of attention. He must really hate it on set when he isn't in the scene.
Forget the house, can we talk about how great his wife’s outfit is? Such a vibe!
Ugh remember watching this at beginning of lockdown...thought wow she seems so much nicer than him....seven months later and top story on Daily Mail....wow what a total waste of space he is.
This is elizabeth, been here for 700 years that cracked me up lolx

@Esteve Eric Mendez
Same here...😂😂😂
Hahaha same
same here😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Lol yes!!!
It’ a castle but they somehow managed to make it look super homey and comfy. What a beautiful home! xx
Stayed there once as a guest of the family when the Knight of Glin was alive. The most wonderfully hospitable family. Wish Catherine the best.
the BEST Open Door I've ever seen-the two of them are just delightful! I want to go there NOW!
I watched this video a year ago. And all the comments were like "they're such a lovely couple" "Dominic is so funny, his wife loves him". Now everybody is like "shut up, respect your wife".
I didn’t even know about the affair until now and I already was cringing at him
women are like this
@@tupacb.2943 just - don’t go there man.
@@havars7141 love your pfp :)
@@marialawson2328 aww thank you love! mr. darcy is a dream 😌
Of course, he's charming, but she is so incredibly interesting.
Laugh if she was just making it up
That tour was amazing...a bit short to be honest...I could listen to her for hours....the architecture, the design, the history, the furniture, the colors, the gardens...everything was so enchanting...who wouldn't live there?...they should open the castle's doors to the public so ordinary people can enjoy this masterpiece 😊
I love that the greatest family tradition seems to be powerful, rich women marrying party boys. He's living that kempt life
Haha
Krista D innit!
He must come from good stock with his accent and the fact he went to Eton \
Baron Von Greenback “good stock”
My god, this woman is delightful! I wanna hear her talk for hours. She's so touching, passionate and loving. She appreciates her home and learns from it everyday, it takes a huge heart to renovate a place like that and at the same time preserve its history, to be so attached to it, to keep her ancestors alive. I'm thankful to her for what she shared in this video, I loved it!
Can we get a video of her talking and explaining things for hours? She's delightful
I would really enjoy a mini landscape/design/architecture/interior docu-series with her
She really is! She is mesmerizing!
I agree.
She sounds like Kate Middleton
A nod to all the wonderful Irish craftsmen and women who contributed to the building of this castle, its gardens, and its maintenence.
Humorous home tour! Can't even imagine living in a place with so much colorful, amazing family history.
Is like living in a museum
Lol... He's a handful and she certainly tolerates him very well. Loved watching these two
These two need a show. I just love watching them together!
Thankyyou Catherine for sharing your incredible home with us all
He’s so annoying. He keeps interrupting her. I’m sure what she has to say is way more interesting and educational than what he keeps interrupting her to say...
He’s an attention seeking POS.
Hits different now
OMG YES!
wtf are you talking about!? she's the one talking 99% of the time. If this was instead an episode on a female celebrity and her husband took over the show you would've had a field day with that one as well.
Yes I was thinking the same. He is just a ball of cringy arrogance.
She seems like such a sweetheart.. poor woman
open relationship! just like Will Smith and Jada Pinket
@@TsarOfRuss than they should NOT be married because that is NOT marriage
Is it just me or, is he being awfully rude to his wife? Why does he keep interrupting her? It's her family's home, where is his home for his family that he purchased? He needs to be quiet and respectful of his wife and let her give the public the tour of her family's Castle! How rude!
We should not judge their marriage. They compliment each other and obviously still love each other. Fidelity is totally different matter.
I can literally smell their house.. Smells like history.
Same
Dominic & Catherine are hilarious- he’s so cheerful & cheeky & she’s so lady like & wonderfully brought up
Look at the way Dominic looks at his wife when she speaks, he looks utterly smitten and in awe of her knowledge and passion 🥰
I agree he is smitten w 💕
And money.
@@morganolfursson2560 he bought the house, now partly an owner.. so i think they just love and respect each other equally. They're both rich.
@@morganolfursson2560 yeah and i own the queen of england 😒
I have no idea who these people are, but they are a cute couple, what an amazing legacy to live in a castle that belong to your great great great great great great.......
Liz He’s a pretty famous actor. Been in a ton of movies & TV series, including one of the greatest of all time, ‘The Wire.’
I dont know either as well but they are awesome
He's a well known actor and they were in college together, Trinity College Dublin. The Fitzgeralds are Irish aristocracy from Norman times. Glin Castle is their ancestral home but West and Fitzgerald had to buy it from her mother. She didn't inherit it. It's as much his house as hers now. He married well. She's beautiful, clever and wonderfully elegant.
She’s lovely! And it is so wonderful to see how she cares about her home and knows its history.
Love these two; just so down to earth and at ease with each other - he's beautifully mad (not literally) and she's so serene and calm - and that lovely home they are both a part of.
Imagine being so proud and knowledgeable about your family. You're 600 years old and they are still talking about you🙌
but you have to understand the class element here tho... normal working class people cannot trace their ancestry like this in the same way because they were unimportant...
I could listen to her all day. She is an intelligent and lovely person. Thank you for featuring this special place.
Oh and you left out he is a cheating P.O.S.
Yes, he kept interrupting her, and the way the title is worded, one would think that it's his castle and not Catherine's...
@@vhehl698 yea. 5 kids later. She is a very well respected landscape architect and should have some respect given to her. She seems lovely.
Ego. That's what men who cheat are all about. That & being addicted to the thrill of the chase .
Sad.
Catherine Fitzgerald is so charming, her voice and demeanor just makes you want to listen without interrupting her.
this house is the best celebrity house ever😻sorry Hollywood mansions
tuncaybe thats not a house thats a castle!
but the weather can't compare. In Ireland, to tell the weather you only have to look at the ground: if it is wet it is raining, if it is dry it is about to rain.

His wife is so humble and beautiful
Anyone else getting annoyed with how he kept cutting her off and talking over her?.... 'Cause I was.
I had a boyfriend who did that years ago. He made me feel so little and that I was useful. Used to make smirky faces too, just like Dominic. When I dumped him my life got way better.
no kidding. mansplaining!
@@smugbunny , oh, the loving, deep knowledge of knowing about some public figure's relationship just by watching a relaxing short video and thinking just bc your life is/was junk, the public personalities are as well only because of some small points/details of similitude.
Yes it annoyed me as it’s her ancestral home and she comes over as a lady I personally was there and her mother who entertained us was equally a lovely lady
I love the way she wonderfully explains everything. I mean, she could even explain a plain white shirt sounds so posh
this woman is so lucky to have grown up surrounded by her family's history like this, and get to live in the same house that her ancestors lived in hundreds of years ago. im jewish american, so because of pogroms forcing my ancestors out of europe and immigrating to america, i will never get to know what my ancestors were like or where they lived. and even if i could, the houses and towns they once lived in are probably completely gone. it's so rare to have such a strong connection to your past like this, im glad to see how much they both care about preserving the home, and keeping the memory of all of these people alive. not everyone is able to do that!!
