Hi, I lived in Dublin for about 17 years, I'm Spanish and, well we are quite similar in our approach to life in general so the same way we love Irish in Spain, they really like us. About the stuff you say in the video, well, in terms of drinking, the situation is far worse than you said. the average Irish guy drinks way more than 10 litres of beer a week, trust me but yeah, the economy is a mirage because of the ridiculous taxes for the big corporations which sooner or later are going to go, otherwise the European Commission will suspend all the help to the Irish Governments which, if you ask me don't have or didn't in the past a clue about how to manage the Country. Take a look at the horrible ilegal immigrant crisis these days. I hope things get better for this Country which is my second Home.

@frankierodriguez8661 You’re right it’s so bad now that tourists don’t bother wanting to visit Ireland because it’s got an over abundance of migrants from every third world country, which takes up every hotel around the small island. Leaving nowhere for the tourists to stay when they visit. Or if they find something it’s super expensive and not like 5 years ago… all because of the Political policies Ireland has. I have to say one thing. I'm 54 and lived in Ireland for 49 of those years and I've NEVER known any man who drank close to 10 liters of beer a week! 🤣 I can only assume it's younger males in their crazy party youth years or you know a lot of alcoholics! Also demographically speaking it's usually lower income male that drink more so perhaps you've not lived in more affluent areas as I do know that the long term unemployed and those with addiction issues definitely could come close to 10 liters. 🤣🤣
I'm Irish and can tell you Irish friendlies only lasts until you start to do well at anything. There's a whole other nasty side that nobody talks about.
I was having a conversation with an Irish bro the other day (I'm Hispanic, btw) and this same topic came out, he told me "I have two best friends, who have been my friends since childhood: one is from England and the other from the US".
Your video is so factually incorrect. Divorce is available in Ireland but expect to be screwed for tens of thousands of Euro to get a divorce. There is no such thing as agreeing how long you will be married . It is NOT common to go to the Pub after work as most working people live from payslip to payslip as they have very little disposable income after the Irish government gets at their pay with direct and indirect tax. Mass uncontrolled immigration is the final nail in the coffin for Irish citizens, as it has put enormous pressure on every public service , medical , dental , and housing . This country is heading to its doom in my opinion because of appalling decisions by successive governments who evidently put the welfare of every other national above their own!
It's weird that Irish people object to immigration, when they emigrated en masse to Canada, UK, America, Australia and so on due to economic stressors in their own country. So now they've got a good economy and BIG SURPRISE poor people want to emigrate to Ireland. What's the solution?
@@MsLinda165 It's hard to object when you are being exiled against your will to a life of indentured servitude in the new world. The British committing a holodomor resulting in the deaths of a couple of million people didn't help either.
@@MsLinda165 Are you actually shocked that a society that finally has an independent homeland after 800 years of brutal occupation doesn't immediately want to be ethnically replaced? Those aren't even comparable and I doubt you're too dumb to know that, unless I'm missing the news that hundreds of thousands of Irish people are immigrating into the middle east and demanding constant concessions and preferential treatment for their race and religion while skyrocketing the crime rate, openly hating the natives, and leeching off the carefully balanced welfare system while refusing to work?
Irish drinking water is drinkable except where some mismanagement has led to boil water notices being issued. 99% is fine (it's fluoridated, which has been a huge public health win, but totally drinkable and water is free is any pub or restaurant.)
Sorry but there is zero proof that flouride prevents cavities. It's a scam. Besides that it's dangerous. It accumulates in the brain. In the pineal gland.
The weather is excellent but not for everyone. I don’t like extreme cold or heat . Windows are open almost year round . Some heat in the morning and evening is all that’s needed in winter. Groceries are ok priced , accommodation is cheaper than other big cities unless you are in Dublin which has expensive housing.
Not true. Irish climate is very unhealthy-cold 9 months of the year and it pours torrential rain nearly every single day, all day. Groceries( food etc) Ireland has the 2nd most expensive prices for food and grocies in Europe, Switzerland is the only European country that's more expensive. And accommodation is extremely scarce so don't bother coming to Ireland, you won't be able to get accommodation anywhere in the country.❤
As someone who lives there I am glad this video is showing the negative side too, people always pretend its so awesome here while most people live pay check to pay check.
There is about 3.5m native Irish and the rest are none Irish nationals. Most new buildings are bought by Vulture funds then rented out in extreme prices mainly to foreign immigrants.
Rural Ireland suffers as a result of bad infrastructure Also owning a house in ireland is a night mare, many people can't afford to buy a home and there is the issue of homes built with Defective Blocks which is one of .any reasons why many people in ireland will never own a house. And why many irish Choose to immigrate.

As irish citizens , immigrate to Northern Cyprus at always 30 degrees centigrate to 40 centigrate with always motorways and affordable cars. Driving in all Cyprus is like in England, Australia , Thailand, Japan on the right side. İn all North Cyprus sterlings is the currency those locals worship and praise. Alcoholic drinks are very cheap, beer price in North Cyprus is 35 TL , 1 sterling is 41 Turkish lira; 1 litre spanish wine or italian puglia wine price is 70 TL. Studio or 1 plus 1 apartment rent in city centers of North Cyprus is just 400 sterling to 550 sterlings , some of them have got swimming pools like in Aphrodite Residences in Morphoeus Guzelyurt. Under hot weather citizens never get ill so no need for hospital visits, irish citizens can have allergies against polens, hays so you can get vaccination against allergy at North Cyprus Hospitals.

Stay at home. Ireland has no more immigrant accommodation, immigrants are sleeping outside or in tents in the freezing cold and constant torrential rain, people are dying from pneumonia, the weather will kill you, it's not nice here.
I visit Ireland atleast once a year, some year I visited 3X have lot of Irish friends and not even once someone said to me What's cracking? 🤷♀️ Ireland is a beautiful country, beautiful places to visit, lots of outside activities and great for shopping 🛒. People are super friendly!
I'm from Dublin Ireland and I can tell you He's talking a load of shite.... P.S we can drink the water we don't recycle toilet water like other countries. Comes from Springs / water reservoirs on the mountains .... please don't listen to this idiot 😂
Having used the public buses a lot on a trip last year to get into remote areas I can say my experience of the public buses is that they are excellent, cheap, reliable. A great service. So the comment about the public buses was inaccurate. Didn't see excessive traffic in the cities of Cork or Dublin but wasn't travelling during rush hour admittedly
Interesting…but not entirely accurate. But it’s what I would expect from something generated in the USA. Try asking some Irish people about genuine facts and you might be surprised.

I agree with all of this, except that I don't see a problem with the smoking ban. I'm Irish descent.I live just outside of Boston.I'm struck by how much of Dublin is attached houses with no trees.Massive outlays of brick and concrete. Yes there are some parks in Dublin but most people live amongst the concrete and brick. When I was there I found it stressful-endless walking on concrete,.This is true even in many suburbs.you have to take a car ride out to the scenic areas. I'm used to porches, front and back yards and trees.even most apartment buildings have grassy courtyards and trees. There are oasis areas with benches.
You've been to Dublin city centre and nowhere else as you're statement is absolutely completely false. The city center is a city but we do have the phoenix park, mountjoy park, Fitzwilliam park, Stephens green park, Fairview park, Dublin Castle park and grounds, Alfie Byrne park, Albert College park, Belcamp park, beech hill park, In total 13 large flagship parks 59 community parks And 228 smaller parks in Dublin city centre! So where the hell you were you weren't in Dublin!!! Most Irish live in houses with front and rear gardens and building regulations state for every quota of house built a park of a certain size must be built. The city center has terraced houses because it's a city center. Time to stop watching UA-cam and start travelling properly and find out for yourself and please don't go to Temple Bar and then say you've been to Dublin 🙄🙄🙄🙄
It's also not true of the suburbs either. Not quite sure what your grudge against Ireland and you're Irish heritage is but please don't speak lies about a country.
@@aljo3650 what an idiot!!? He's obviously never been anywhere near Dublin 🤣🤣🤣🤣 maybe he was in London and is confused. His comment was a load of lies, or worse still he's absolutely clueless 🤣🤣🤣🤣
@patricequinn7733 that’s very true I lived there for 20 years in Ireland and I would say a majority of Ireland especially in the more “built up “ areas are very much lacking in green walking spaces like parks for example. In Ireland in comparison there is only a handful of parks and everywhere else it’s a concrete jungle. Very depressing along with the 320 plus days a year of grey skies and rain. Makes living there super bleak and depressing in winter I found. When I landed in Chicago I couldn’t believe all around the suburbs and cities there was a mass of trees everywhere. I had to take pictures of it because I had not seen anything like that before. Irish have a thing against trees because they fear it blocks the light and they want to see the coming and going’s of people they know. So they cut them down. I know my family were like that . Especially older than 50’s plus people. Very nosey they are. If they see people walking by their house the window drapes and lace will be shaking from them trying to look out at them.
I don't know where you got some of your info from! The Irish Government has spent millions of Euros on up-grading the transport infrastructure among other things.
There may be smoking bans, but it’s not unusual to see a 14 year old vaping around here. In fact, I once saw two kids who looked like they were 8-9 sharing a vape. And when I was in primary, there was this cafe near my school and we had heard that the owner got arrested because he sold vapes to teenagers in the cafe because he wasn’t asking for IDs, etc.
Rubbish. The Republic of Ireland could not afford to integrate the North without massive tax hikes. Northern Ireland costs three times more to maintain than the money it generates. That's a fact.
@JC-gl7ee Yes everything to do with the "english" and I believe that U were nationalist, an English nazionalist. And your appropriation of the Ukrainian flag is quite pathetic, I know no Ukrainians that approve of colonial mentality

I love Ireland and I think in any country has a good and bad things. I don't agree with you. Ireland is a country with a very difficult history and the who like take the country as it is.
I lived in Ireland for a year and went to University College Galway. My only complaint was the cold and rain. (I am from California though). Otherwise it is a wonderful country with fun and fascinating people. It’s really a magical place.
I've been to Ireland several times in the early 90's. Nice country. Pubs on every corner. A lot of good looking gals. Redheads with gray eyes. The cigarettes were outrageously expensive even then. I'd like to go back someday if I had the opportunity.
For the irish immigrants spread around the globe, 4 million? Or even more? Since 2007 ive been hearing about young irish leaving the country... So, immigrants against... Immigrants?
The immigrants don't know about the housing crisis, they only arrive to Ireland because of the social benefits which will go to hell soon if this situation continues.
Govt minister literally tweeted in multiple languages inviting them in. This guy’s party only polled 7%. But they writhed their way into a weak coalition govt. Irish are very angry.

Having lived in USA for the past 3 years, I use to complain about how ireland had poor transport system, housing, health care etc but in comparison having moved abroad now I see that ireland ireland actually excel in all those areas. The USA in comparison, has one of the worst transportation system I've ever seen. They also have the worst health care system I've ever experienced and the issue around most jobs in the city is a world renowned issue. The same applies in the US. The BS this guy is stating about married lengths is laughable. Not sure where he's getting this info from because he's talking BS. This dose not exist. Same with the Christmas is straw outfits. That doesn't happen. I feel like this guy had some bad experience in Ireland and was to bad mouth it for some reason by making up some BS statements. Even the driver license debate is a joke. Took me several months to get my license in the US due to how slow the DMV move over here. Irelands not perfect but in comparison to the USA and other countries it's a lot better so you should experience it for yourself and then judge. I live in a small city of just over 500,000 here in the US that boasts about having such a low crime and shooting rate but in comparison to Ireland (a nation of 10 times that population) my city in the US is far worse. Everyday you see shootings, gang issues, homeless issues etc and there has never been a mass shooting in Ireland because ireland actually have gun control laws.
Omg. If you're going to make a documentary, at least do proper research. It's not what's cracking, it's what's the craic. This is super annoying and shows great disrespect 🤬
Fuel taxes are in accord, because ALL oil is imported into the 2 Countries. If you're comparing wages between Ireland & other Countries, MAKE SURE you factor in the exchange rate. Ireland uses Euros, England has Pounds Sterling or Euros. Canada & United States are on the Dollar system. Check the difference between the currencies.
No mass shootings. No Maga party or Republicans or Trump-like figure. No limited Press. A passport that's worth more around the world than an American passport. Oh yeah - what a downgrade.
Just one more thing, Ireland is not the highest drinking country in the world or even in Ireland but they know how to enjoy it. Getting together with friends and sharing an evening listening to good live music. You can't beat that.
May someone make an Ireland itinerary for me please? I’m going for a week and I’m thinking about staying in Galway for a couple of days and Dublin for a couple of days!
This video has captured my heart completely😂 I’ve lived in Ireland for 2 years now. My wife is Irish so I moved over when we got married. We decided I’d come here first while we went through the process of her immigration to the US🇺🇸 this whole list summarizes what I’ve come to find generally true about this county. It’s really just that Ireland runs extremely inefficiently as the video points out through the examples. Except for one department, passports😂 the Irish would die if they couldn’t travel to get away from their misery here, which they’ll happily admit🤣 Government is too big, prices across the board are too high, fuel is exactly double as stated in the video, wages are low, housing is astoundingly bad, people are surface level. The explanations for each point are really spot on. It takes a LONG time to be accepted in this culture. When it comes to work life balance I was talking with someone the other day about how here it’s you work to live. Back home it’s you live to work. Personally after doing both, I prefer living to work. That way you enjoy 75 percent of your life rather than trying to vacation to get a break from the majority of your life the other way around as it is here. I think this is a good comparison for the US to European lifestyle. One of the things that is good out here is the used market for just about anything. New cars are VERY expensive but used cars are pretty affordable. I don’t see the cigarettes ban in place as effecting much. TONS of people smoke over here. The alcohol is expensive but it doesn’t seem to stop people from drinking. They do have basically a zero tolerance for drinking and driving which the Irish call drink driving😆 Personal car insurance, phone bills and internet. I’ve found all these to be cheaper typically. Housing is absolutely unreal😱 we are still in an open case against our first landlord for not keeping up with maintenance for the property. We didn’t have a working shower for 10 months. You can make a decent life for yourself out here after some difficult times. Although I’d say leave Ireland as a vacation destination ONLY!
The amount of disinformation in this video would make it seem he's never lived here. Like affordable/free healthcare, private healthhcare, if you want to cut the queue.if you're friend had to wait 5 hours for pain relief he was probably low priority on the triage scale and pain wasn't that severe. I've had potentially melanotic lesions removed within 2 weeks after family doctor referral. Marriage in Ireland is like most countries, there's a modern divorce process with supporting services. Drinking isn't as popular as it was since the 2000s. It' actually on the downgrade.. Ireland is also following NZ by raising smoking age consecutively each year.. During summer, it's currently about 25 degrees. The *wren boys* tradition is dying put in mostly rural areas. Driving licence reciprocity is allowed under a US license without any extra testing or paperwork. You can exchange a US license for an Irish one quid pro quo. Get your facts straight man.
you are talking crap . there is nothing wrong with the tap water in ireland. we spent 5 weeks in Newbridge in April/May this year and there was nothing wrong with the tap water.
True mixed with Syria and Ukraine. The 3rd world counties of the world that is what has swarmed Ireland. Most are uneducated. You can’t find any hotel availability anymore there. It’s filled with migrants that the tax payers pay up for.
It's true, unfortunately. My once beautiful country has been destroyed from the inside. We even have our own version of skid row. We call it, tent city
The number one reason why Irish young people are emigrating and why people should not come into Ireland as immigrants is because no matter what the government has told people, there is NO AFFORDABLE ACCOMMODATION in Ireland, even for couples with two well-paying careers. There are over 14,000 Irish people homeless in Ireland, and there is no more immigrant accommodation, Irish people and immigrants are sleeping on the streets or in tents in very cold weather with torrential rain, it pours rain every day except when there is freezing fog and ice, Ireland is a very cold country, and it is cold for 9 months of the year, and people die from pneumonia.
I lived in Ireland for two years and it was a truly miserable experience. Extremely expensive, customer service is crazy, the customer can be insulting you straight to your face and you have to sit there quietly and take it. Dublin is disgusting, the buses smell like pee, coming home from work in the evening in Dublin is a literal nightmare. Drunk people screaming everywhere and doing whatever they want, addicts on every corner and the so called "Garda" is useless and does absolutely nothing to protect people's safety. Also, the Irish are not friendly, they just like blabbing. That doesn't mean they want to be friends with someone it's just considered impolite if there is silence between two people. People from my experience are actually awful hypocrites. They play nice in front of you and keep praising you and then they go and trash you behind your back. The public transport is a joke and extremely expensive. I hated every second of my stay in Ireland and I won't set foot there ever again, even for holidays. It's an awful place to be.
I am Irish and hated my own Country growing up .Now i have returned to live there in retirement .I don't hate it any more ...It has changed a lot since my youth .Every Country i have lived ,which was several has its good and bad points .I would prefer to live somewhere with more sunshine hours through out the year though ,so i take a lot of short breaks abroad .

typical story. the cause of immigration is always said to be "economic and in many cases, that is immediately caused by war, racism, or terrorism" but the root cause is overpopulation and other than China no gov has faced that! .
Ireland needs to invest heavily in alternative energy devices and cheap affordable housing. And bring back a festive atmosphere to attract young people (who don't want to fight). And build bigger and better hospitals and medical colleges.
If a band starts then you must keep quiet and if you say something go outside and say what you want to say then return back inside and enjoy the music.
As an Irish person, I was shocked - Shocked - to hear that traffic can be bad at rush hour in a capital city. Well, I never! Thank you for that startling insight, as well as several other gems of wisdom in your video that didn't come off as sounding like you just don't like Ireland anyway and were looking for a way to slate the place, goodness me, no. I'm sure that, summing up the wisdom of my good friend, Fr. Jack Hackett, I'm so, so sorry...
The gossip is challenging to deal with special if this is not something you have deal before but is a big part of the culture. Need focus on the positive things.
Back in the 90's it took me 1.5 hours (twice a day) to go 20 miles from my house in Escondido to the Miramar area (in California) on the freeway. Roads all over San Diego in rush hour were terrible. You should see the potholes in areas I have lived in the states (more like sink holes!). Immigration is a problem in many countries. Lots of homeless here and abroad (see Finland's solution). So many countries are mismanaged in certain ways. We all have to strive to do better and know nothing is perfect!
I think the marriage lasting a certain amount of time is from when you didn't get married in the church. If you married in a registry office you were only legally married for 7 years. I don't think it's like that now.
Wrong about Internet service and equally wrong about water quality. There is generally an excellent internet/broadband service and for the most part drinking water is very good. Why the constant comparison with the U.S.? We are E.U. citizens and fuel prices are much the same as in the rest of the E.U. Vid is spot-on regarding the housing crisis. Health Service is generally good but is steadily been overwhelmed by immigrants.
Ireland isn't particularly industrialized and gives of a quaint countryside feel. Even Dublin feels like a mid-sized town with a faint corporate culture. The citizens make up for it by making the price for goods and services high.
What's Cracking is what's the Craic.... As an Irish person alot of this is basically true but some not true. There is bus service throughout the country except for some of the most remote places. It's a bit weird this vid but some proper truths in there too...
Specific time for marriage: ingenious and I am extremely surprised that has not been adopted in the USA and more countries. I wonder if an adjustment is made if children are born because of the marriage.
Ireland does have Uber and generally very good broadband and phone coverage. Yes, GDP does not represent Irish wealth. Ireland is s bit of a tax haven, less so now, but a lot of multinationals here so money flows through Ireland , doesn’t stay here. USA had quite low petrol prices I gather, cheaper than most EU countries and UK. Housing is a disaster price wise, €1,800 per month for a one bed apartment. Dublin is a beautiful city, lots of galleries , museums, restaurants, shops , green areas and no high rise which gives an open feel to the city. Marriage here is the same as elsewhere, it’s not set for a negotiated period. Smoking ban is good by most peoples views. You can smoke in a park. San Francisco had smoking indoors ban before Ireland .. at latest 1998. Never seen the straw thing here, totally new to me after 48 years living in Ireland.

Indeed! That’s worth mentioning
It's weird that Irish people object to immigration, when they emigrated en masse to Canada, UK, America, Australia and so on due to economic stressors in their own country. So now they've got a good economy and BIG SURPRISE poor people want to emigrate to Ireland. What's the solution?
@MsLinda165 the Irish worked wherever they went. Economic migrants don't.

Ever heard of the Phoenix Park? Look it up and you will see how silly your comment is.
You've been to Dublin city centre and nowhere else as you're statement is absolutely completely false. 59 community parks
And 228 smaller parks in Dublin city centre! So where the hell you were you weren't in Dublin!!!

Except for one department, passports😂 the Irish would die if they couldn’t travel to get away from their misery here, which they’ll happily admit🤣
Government is too big, prices across the board are too high, fuel is exactly double as stated in the video, wages are low, housing is astoundingly bad, people are surface level.
