Hands down my fave Prince song. It contains soooo much joy and how exciting it is to be young when everything is still new💜💜💜💜 Brings back good memories!
I (STILL) can’t get over HOW HAPPY I am that I grew up in those times! ☀️ I’m a 1970s baby cause as I was born in 1976 so I’m a 1980s boy!! From 1980 to 1989 was a GENERATIONAL PARTY for me man and I’m ECSTATIC that I was able to see and hear both Michael Jackson’s and Prince’s ICONIC ALBUMS, SINGLES, MUSIC VIDEOS AND MOVIES AS THEY WERE REALISED AS BRAND NEW REALISES FROM PRINCE’S PURPLE RAIN MOVIE IN 1984 TO MICHAEL JACKSON’S MOVIE MOONWALK IN 1988 AND FROM MICHAEL JACKSON’S ROCK WITH YOU MUSIC VIDEO IN 1980 TO PRINCE’S BATDANCE AND PARTYMAN MUSIC VIDEOS IN 1989!!!!!!!!!!! ✨🤩🦹🏻🕺 AND ON TOP OF ALL OF THAT I HAVE TO MENTION THERE WAS MUCH MORE EXCITING TELEVISION SHOWS, CARTOONS, ADVERTS AND EVEN THE ENGLISH WEATHER WAS BETTER IN THE SUMMER AND THROUGHOUT THE YEAR AS WELL TOO THAN IT IS IN LONDON TODAY!!!!!!!! 🌞😍 I HAD A BLAST DURING THAT DECADE I’LL (NEVER) FORGET BOY!!!!!!!!!! 💣💥🔥
and those lyrics , for example at 2:05 he says ( it seems that i was busy doing something close to nothing ) prince was such a unique artist , he had his own style which made him as big as he was and will always be , an amazing talent again great song choice and love your reactions empress !!!
R.I.P Prince I remember going to my 1st concert in 1982. It was his 1999 tour with Vanity 6 and Morris Day and the Time. Prince got down!!! A musical genius gone way too soon.
another one of my faves , just look at the dancing the colors the choriography , and of course the music , again great reaction ..... lol mr migeee !!! lol 1:45
....Empress WON'T let me stop leavin' trivia, WON'T she!? ..ha-HAAA!! ... ***PRINCE & THE REVOLUTION TRIVIA TIME!!!*** ....let's skip to itttttt..... - ..after the WORLD BLOWING success of "Purple Rain", Prince wanted to release another Album; his label (WB) thought it was 'too soon' ("Take Me With U" was still on the charts, when this was released), but , they thought of THAT MOOLAH, and readied it for release, Spring of 1985..... ...Prince actually cut his hair during the timeline of this Video, and is wearing '...a bubbly Liza Minnelli wig' ( a Rock critic called it that once, and made Prince MAD); ....The Video is a 'homage' to the Album cover of "Around The World In A Day", where Prince came up with "Sgt. Pepper"-like images that exist within HIS 'World'.... ...The tune was WEE bit controversial, about a Young Man losing his 'virg-inity' to a more experienced Girl (5:05), & Radio had a problem with the Store Owner, "....not liking his kind..." ...didn't matter...It's ***PRINCE*** , and, the tune peaked at #2 Pop, July, 1985; 10. Would I Lie To You? - Eurythmics 9. Shout - Tears For Fears 8. Glory Days - Bruce Springsteen 7. If You Love Somebody, Set Them Free - Sting 6. The Search Is Over - Survivor 5. Sussudio - Phil Collins 4. You Give Good Love - Whitney Houston 3. Everytime You Go Away - Paul Young 2. ***Raspberry Beret*** - Prince & The Revolution 1. A View To A Kill ('007' Theme) - Duran Duran ...OH! ..and Prince is using the 12' remix, in the Music Video...where he actually COUGHS on the record!! (1:17)
This dropped me smack in the middle of 1985, sitting in my best friend's apartment and hearing this for the first time. I mean a detailed memory. He loved Prince. Two years later my friend would be gone too soon. And 29 years later--to the day--so would his favorite musician. In lighter news, you should hear me in my "grocer's frozen food aisle" singing "raspberry sorbet"... 🍧
Prince! *Genius*. Thank you Sean for requesting it. This is one of his best pop fun songs and was a top-charter. I loved revisiting this one. It brings up good memories of dancing to Prince. It was fun watching you bopping to this one.
This song is from my favorite Prince album, Around The World In A Day. Pat Smear from Nirvana and Foo Fighters is one of the dancers in the video. There is a great remix to go with this song. The B-side, She's Always In My Hair, is another Prince classic. This is a fantastic period from Prince and his music. He was expanding due to the influence of Wendy & Lisa. The Revolution is my favorite Prince band.
Heh, when I saw that you were going to react to this song my first thought was how soon will you throw up the double fives, before the first chorus or after? [grin] When you're ready for more from Prince, check out some of these classics: "When Doves Cry", "I Wanna Be Your Lover", "Let's Go Crazy", "1999", and "Controversy". And for something extra, "The Whole Of The Moon" by Prince & 3rdEyeGirl, Live 5.3.15 Paisley Park.
I’m a classic rock fan the Stones Doors Who zep Clash etc… but I remember liking this song when it came out and I enjoyed your reaction your claps were right on time
The song came at the period who he just ending his ''Purple Rain'' era, with four top 10 singles (''When Doves Cry'' and ''Let's Go Crazy'' at n.1, the title track at n.2 and ''I Would Die 4 U'' at n.8) and he just made his best selling album to date. This song came almost at the same period who the last single of ''Purple Rain'', ''Take Me with U'' reaching his highest peak n.25. This was the first single of his album ''Around the World on a Day'' and was a hit in 1985. Back then, unlike the ''Purple Rain'' album, Prince decided to not promoted the album, tired with the huge promotion of ''Purple Rain''. Also, the album ''Around the World On a Day'' received mixed review by critics because of his experimental and artistic sound, but neither wise, depist the mixed review and no promotion, the album was selling very well. This song reaching n.2 in US behind ''A View of a Kill'', by Duran Duran.
Cannot tell how cool and special it was you be young in my 20’s like Prince and experience his brilliance as it happened, and experience the cool 80’s decade as it happened. It was my soundtrack as I had my life experiences, some of them similar to his story here, the girls that came my way!
Back in the day at the MTV world premiere of this video, I remember the girl in the lower left corner of Princes' stage wearing a raspberry beret. She was not very noticeable with future views. Strange how I notice her now after all these years. She seems very insignificant. 🤔 Great Reaction, Empress!❤
There’s a classic Hollywood hair & makeup story about this vid. Prince wanted blonde hair and insisted on it being bleached even tho he was told that it was a risk bc it had been permed or straightened before. And it broke off just like Tinta Turner. So this was fixed with pieces & extensions which is why it looks like Blanche from GGirls. I’m just glad it wasn’t me, I would have died. That poor stylist lol
I’m adopting you as my music sister! 🤣🤣🤣 I love me some Prince! 👑 The first time I heard the song, I knew it was Prince and he keeps me moving. The video was hot! 🔥 I can listen to him all day and never get bored. I saw him twice in concert and each show was different. Prince has MSG jumping even the floor was shaking. His concerts were the BEST! 💜👑🔥💃🏽
Really late in finding your reactions, sorry. Prince loved to play with technology - synths, drum machines, and of course the "latest" in video tech (which looks a bit like a weather reporter here, IMO). There's a story about his hair if you haven't heard it yet. He tried to bleach it blond, and it turned out AWFULLY. He's wearing a wig in the video. If you look at the song cover, you'll see someone in the cloud suit, but blond hair. That might've been what Prince would've looked like with blond hair. Kind of glad we never saw that, frankly.
Great reaction, amazing song by one of the best artists. I remember liking this and his other jams back in the 80s and 90s and appreciate them more now than then. Oh and you're just TOO beautiful. Very beautiful!
The first time I heard this song was when my sister gave me the "Around the World in a Day" album for my birthday. I was surprised because she wasn't a big Prince fan, but she *always* had her finger on the pulse of music and she said, "He's doing some new stuff on this album". Her endorsement of ANY music was a big deal to me, so I knew this album must have been special, and it was! This was before any of the singles were getting airplay yet, so I kind of had to guess which songs would be big, and this one was an easy guess. However, my personal favorite song on the album was "Paisley Park", and while I was bummed that it was not made a single, Prince *did* name his entire record label and recording studio after it, so I guess we had similar taste!
I love this song, always have but I’ve never had as much fun listening to it as I did while watching you watch it
wow thank you!
Prince was AND always will be the BOMB! 🔥🔥🔥💜💜💜
Hands down my fave Prince song. It contains soooo much joy and how exciting it is to be young when everything is still new💜💜💜💜 Brings back good memories!

“Rain sounds so cool as it hits the barn roof. The horses wonder who you are………”. 😂😂😂 Only Prince could write those lyrics.
Right…He was was too smooth with it 😂
This entire Around The World In A Day album is 🔥🔥🔥🔥! R.I.P Prince. 💜

I was fascinated by the song and video when I first saw/heard it!!! He had so many great songs that I don't even try to rank 'em!!!

The fact that he came out with this a year after Purple Rain...with a whole new look for a while new era.. genius!

Can you please do a reaction to Prince and the Revolution Purple Rain live in Syracuse thank you in advance?
Try Prince “Controversy”. I saw him on the Controversy Tour, one of my best brags ever. The song and video are bangers! 😁❤️
Gotta hear it
I think we all had that one , one night stand that you will remember forever, and you will never know her name.
You know i really don't need a video to take me on this songs journey. The wording gets me thier just fine.
One of the best hooks Prince ever wrote, and he wrote MANY!
So many great Prince songs...n this my favorite
🔥
Pat smear from the Foo Fighters in this video.. you can barely find it because his hair was blond and long.😂
