Thanks Gary! I had to find something! There may be some tolerance stacking in other areas but I think for this receiver the main issue was the FA rear sight. I'll keep it in case I run into a sloppy receiver someday.
@@peteregger7928 Could you mill a few thousandths off the face of the sight base and make a really precisely fit rear sight? Clip a coil or two off the detent spring if needed.
@@garyK.45ACP I had thought about doing that and being very careful so I would only have to deal with the shiny metal where it wouldn't be noticed after some type of bluing or blackening. If I remember right the sight housing is a zinc phosphate instead of manganese? Most of the interference was at the bottom of the sight housing. My next measurement tool may be a small precision square. Trimming would make for a nice custom fit as you were saying!
@@peteregger7928 Do you have a mill, or access to one? You could have the most precisely fit rear sight ever! That part of the finish won't really be seen, so some touch up blue or black would be fine...or even mask it and hit it with some flat black spray paint. I won't tell if you don't.

@@peteregger7928... I wouldn't call it as bad as cursed. Just finding out what you think are good parts manufacturers are not following specs close enough and it's showing up. Only able to find out by buying and trying. I personally would have thought RR and Fulton would be good to go. Not much these days as you say. I'm sure once you get it all together it's going to be super nice and tight. These are great videos by a good QC builder.
@@Allenmar73 I've been wondering if someone watching this channel has a Voodoo rifle with all kinds of pins stuck in it! Lol! For everything I catch on these builds I'm probably missing two more! Who knows what you're really getting when you buy a complete rifle from a manufacturer? Most of them these days I think are just slammed together! I guess that's the silver lining if you're building your own and take some measurements along the way. Thanks Allen!
@@peteregger7928... I agree. From looking at complete more budget line rifles I agree the parts are probably just barely making it go. One exception is Del-Ton, they've been at it a long time, and their prices can't really be beat for the quality you get. I haven't done any AR stuff above Aero Precision grade, and not impressed with their stuff. Maybe a BCM would be next step up, but I'm satisfied since I don't build. Thoroughly enjoy the quality of your rifle's.
@@Allenmar73 Thanks Allen! No experience with Del-Ton? BCM seems to have a solid reputation especially their BCG's. I was looking at BCM for a BCG recently but all I saw were the ones with their logo's. Maybe I didn't look hard enough? For these latest Retro's I've been doing the non-logo is what I've been looking for. I won't use Aero BCG's anymore.
@@ordinaryman1904 I have very little experience with AK's. My brother in-law had an AK and an old SKS with the detachable magazine modification. Fired them a few times but that's about it.
Thanks for the great videos, Pete.

Pete, just wanted to say thanks for all these videos.
Appreciate the positive feedback!
Thanks For the Follow Up Bonus Clip Professor Pete 😊😀 Excellent Job Figuring Out The Issue
Thanks Chris! It may not be the only issue but the FA rear sight is definitely out of wack!

This has been one cursed build so far.
Ha! Ha! Yep! It's been happening more and more often over the last few years especially! My list of bad parts vendors keeps growing!

Has anyone ever counted the number of machining steps necessary to build an M16/AR15 rifle?
Good question! I'll bet it's a lot!
