Hi 👋 I've got a manual with quick shifter, 12,500 miles in 13 months and enjoyed all of it. Take 20 minutes to see how buttons work, put it in Tour when you go for it, (full power). Urban is still OK for general use because Tour mode can be a bit snatchy at slow speeds like switch back turns.
    Keep up the good work.

This is indeed a great bike for the price and purpose. Not perfect but all serious and experienced reviewers are giving two thumbs up to this bike. Funny thing, there is a comment here complaining about the lack of shaft drive and the fact that it has a chain! Must be a young rider, new to biking, with no idea about what we used to ride decades ago. Probably a troller. Ah, if I had this bike 40+ years ago...... Btw, there are countless people travelling across the globe on bikes with chains as I write this comment. I never heard anyone complaining about it or having to cancel their adventures because of it. Thanks for video!

I just bought one. To be honest as an older biker like yourself I rode 40 years with bikes as my main transport. I loved the beemers shaft drives in winter with all the salt on the roads and working 14 hour shifts for weeks it was an absolute boon not to have to faff around with chains. Modern chains though seem to be ok, BMW are doing an endurance chain? Anyways ride safe ...

I traded in my 2019 AT for one six months ago and, 9000 miles in, it definitely devours the miles in comfort and can be brisk if you use the gears. I have loved it. I bought the DCT so do need to manual change gears a bit but it works a treat with a pillion and luggage. Been over all the passes in the Lake District effortlessly. Its a keeper. Also as an IAM observer this is a great bike for taking people out on lessons

Have had the NT1100 for a while now and love it. Amazing bike, especially for the price.
Though you do need a pHD to learn the switch gear!
Not a sports tourer, just a tourer - which suits me just fine.

Thankfully a review on a 6 speed manual bike. Not everyone wants a DCT transmission. At 74 I still like to row my own gears. Nice review, but sadly here in the States Honda doesn’t offer the bike for sale. The Africa Twin has been for sale for several years, so the engine has passed our emissions standards. Not everyone wants a Goldwing and this seems a perfect substitute.

That thing is a beast! It's literally double the weight of my little 125, so probably a bit out of my comfort zone to be honest, but I really like this thing! It's a beaut IMO! I really like the clean look of it- with minimal gubbins on display. Bit of an old man's bike though really.

I agree I think they have nailed the styling given its a big old tourer. It has a lot of road presence

Real nice video and what great information, it brimgs me back in the 80's when I got my shadow 750 and changed for a shadow 1100. Today, I have a NC750X DCT and a GL1800, so the size doesn't really matter. Thanks for this great review.

I have a gl1800 and this bike is a temporary bite from the insurance after my borough wrote my bike off. I don't really like it I much prefer my Goldwing.

@@elixier33 Well, our bike is always the best. I remember when I went for my first GL, I had my boulevard and it was the best until I rode back home with the 2001 GL1800 red illusion. Having a motorcycle with a bigger engine than a car is just WOW.

Is Honda not selling this in North America to manufacture scarcity or they just can’t keep up with demand around the rest of the world? Sure, it’s a hubris-free pipe ‘n slippers bike, but that’s exactly what I’m looking for now. If I could get it, I’d be at the dealership today.

Great review !! Subscribed. Most of my touring is on bumpy roads and I am finding the suspension on my Tracer 9 GT is a bit hard. What is the ride quality of the Honda like on bumpy roads ?

    • @BikesofRye

it looks like a great twin, I assumed it was a four banger, to bitch about it having no power at 3000 is not fair to the bike, I've had plenty of four cylinder bikes that sucked under 4000 rpm........Harlys and other over weight twin pigs do well down there, and they are a lot heavier....this aint a bagger bike....

This bike fails miserably in the market that it intends to compete. It has no shaft drive, which means continuously adjusting, cleaning and lubing the chain, plus the bike gets covered in crud which also has to get cleaned off! Its next to useless compaired to the old 710cc Deauville twin and not a patch on the Honda Pan European which also had an electric screen. This bike you have to stop every time you change from a motorway to b class roads or visa versa or every time a shower comes along to get off the bike and pull up or down the screen which cant be adjusted on the bike!!! Its next to useless. Both the BMW and the Triumph Tiger 1200cc's have no maintenance shaft drives and screens which are adjustable while you are on the bike. For long distances they kick this Honda's backside. Honda has lost it all by dropping the very things that made their long distance machines great. This bike is plain, ordinary. Any bike with a chain drive and panniers will do the same as this does.

    • @spillarge
      @spillarge 2 роки тому +1

@@RRRRefuelRideRace nobody is comfortable crouching in the dirt adjusting, cleaning and lubricating a chain before you can ride the next 500 miles. You can't get to enjoy the features unless you have first got filthy with the damned chain which isn't the case with a shaft drive. Of course if you only use it for sunny Sunday shopping trips, that's another story.
