What gets me the most is how Akane in-character says Aqua's name with the same distinct three syllables as Ai did. "Ah-ku-wah" as opposed to everyone else's "Ak-wah." That's such a simple little thing that speaks to her absolutely masterful understanding of Ai's mannerisms.
It's that she absolutely nailed her exact inflections that really brings it home. I was just like Aqua and thought Ai had just reappeared from the dead.
Man you're right. There's only one person in the world that would perfectly voice out his name. That would be his mother. Akane knowing that Ai would call Aqua with perfect sylables without even knowing their relation is so damn good.
It's obvious that in her research on Ai, Akane will have seen Ai's performances on TV or in concert. Akane must have found out what city Ai was from to imitate her accent. Akane will have accessed a lot of audiovisual material, but she also built a psychological profile of Ai based on personal information. It is what a method actor would do to interpret a character based on a real person, which is different from building a fictional character which is based on what the scriptwriter or author have indicated.
Isn't that the basic Japanese pronunciation of his name though ? Everyone calls him that way, like Kana for example. She says "Akua ? Hoshino Akua ?" in episode 2 as well. Miyako herself called him "A-ku-a" in this very episode.
@@kiyomi_kamimoto It is the proper Japanese pronunciation, but the way Akane says it, and the way Ai said it, are sorta different. Akane's VA has some incredible talent to be able to switch up and perfectly mimic AI's VA for this scene. Aqua's stunned silence when he hears the way she speaks, the beat drop from the outro alongside the eye reveal. It's all so perfectly done.

Of all the stuff I've seen on your channel I think this series might be my favorite. The series really was built for you. And you opening up has taught me a lot about the celebrity scene. Which makes it easier to empathize and has definitely reduced chances of me hating celebs.
Very glad that you’re alright! Your genuine and bubbly and open personality has always been a breath of fresh air for me, thank you for reacting to oshi no ko!
26:00 this is why I think having Aqua's past life as a doctor really fits his character, as doctors HAVE to be able to communicate with patients, whether it is to entertain, comfort, or just establish trust and rapport. So it is natural for Aqua to still have those skills
I'm glad I found this channel honestly these videos have been helping me escape from real life trauma and online trauma I hope everything works out for you in the long run. You've become one of my favorite content creators in recent years also I enjoy this community
Seeing the cast rally together and fighting against the narrative the show's directors were pushing is such a great way to turn the tragedy into a triumph. I'm glad the show treated this situation with the severity and nuance it deserves, I can't wait to see how they finish this arc.
I don't comment a lot on reaction videos, and I am new to your channel. But, thank you for your commentary and expressing your net life experience during this episode. Oshi No Ko broke my heart over and over each week when it aired, and learning about this incident being semi based on a real life web bullying incident that took somebody's life is even more tragic. Keep doing your thing, the few videos of yours I have watched have been great!
What you were saying here about how support through text chat and stuff just doesn't feel real when you need it, compared to actual human contact, is absolutely true. We need people and I think in a real way the whole Pandemic things really hurt us a lot more than most people realize. Digital communication really can't replace being around people, and how much we really need it. I'm an introverted person but even I am spending a lot more time these days trying to get out and meet people face to face.
Thank you, you are the first reactor I've seen that said now we're EVEN after Yuki's slap, showing Akane what a minor thing she has done and that all the criticism is completely baseless. Everyone else just gets mad without even thinking about what might be going through Yuki's head or the amount of guilt she must feel while being forced by a contract to keep quiet about it.
What Yuki did is not good in any sense. Any psychologist worth their weight will say the same thing. In fact, a psychologist reacted to this episode, and he said that it's a bad thing to do. You shouldn't slap anyone that just went through that. Not only will the person that attempted turn the event into a cause for ground because physical abuse was added to their already long list of reasons why they attempted, but it's also turning the entire event into being about someone else. The person slapping is making this about themselves, not the person that attempted. So no, slapping was a awful thing to do in the situation. Is it normal? Perhaps. But it's a terrible thing to do.
@@recklesserves155 WHY DOES THIS ALWAYS HAPPEN WHY DOES THIS ALWAYS HAPPEN I THINK I'M GONNA HAVE A BREAKDOWN BREAKDOWN!!! (Silent nod to Really really fast)
13:50 sadly they could only do so much, considering they aren't allowed to talk about anything that wasn't shown on TV, and Akane herself likely didn't reach out to anyone. so all they could do was try to stay in contact and cheer her up over text
It's pretty clever to see them spoon feed the bottom of Ai's face week after week in the opening, so they can recreate the shot. It really helps make up for some of the limitations of simplified art styles. Also I appreciate Alicia's candour and input. They're pretty heavy, personal subjects, so it's appreciated to see someone strong enough to talk about it so openly. The show does a pretty great job on its own already, but these interjections help ground the whole thing and probably makes people feel less alone if they're going through it.
13:55 last episode when Akane tweated apology she mentioned that they cant talk about what is behind the cameras. So nobody from cast could explain it as well
If you notice in the intro, you can see Ai and then suddenly Akane is there looking like Ai with the stars in her eyes. I saw that change in hair colour and I was like what is this did Ai come back from the dead with different hair colour? Did we get a different girl just like Ai? And I didn't even put it together when they introduced Akane even though she has that same hair colour. I only put it together when I saw this episode and saw the stars in her eyes and I was like mofo it was you in the intro. Goddamn.
>Someone insults Alicia >"What's that song?" >*Alicia the rat queen has appeared* >*Health bar pops up* >THOUSANDS OF RATS FLOOD IN TO OVERRUN THE PERSON THAT DARES INSULTS OUR QUEEN
The way at the end Akane walks forward, with the shot from below and behind her, is a perfect mirror of an animated shot of Ai for the animated music video.
they mentioned in the last episode that the cast is under contract to not talk about anything that didn't end up in the show so that probably explains why the cast didn't clear up the misunderstanding sooner.
I find it so great that you overcame adversity and the hubby was a shining light. The world is definitely a better place with people like you in it, Alicia. Always nice to be remembered.
It never gets old to see Akane just crush it in her Ai impression 🤩🤩 I was hyped beyond belief in those two manga pages when I read it in the manga. *And it's even better in anime because you get to actually hear how she absolutely matches the way Ai speaks.* Who would have thought that out of all the participants in the reality show, Akane was the most badass kk 😂😂
funniest thing from everyone else's point of view, is how mature Aqua is despite being the youngest out of the rest of the cast Edit: excuse me, aqua is the 2nd youngest. Yuki is currently 15
I didn't think I'd get so emotionally invested in this reaction series lol. Hearing your story made me wanna root for you. I really hope you conquer those horrible demons of yours someday. Plus your insight on what's happening in the show based off your personal experiences is really interesting to listen to. Keep up the good stuff!
this reveals why Akane is one of my favorite characters. she has genuine skill for not only researching something but fully UNDERSTANDING it. you'll see more down the line, but Akane Kurokawa is a chameleon to the highest degree, and it never fails to impress me
At 25:56 they have one of my favorite, subtle details. Aqua takes a breath to calm himself before speaking and you can watch his eye go from dull to brighter, showing that he's letting that negativity and hate go to make an honest plea to the producer.
6:01 cant agree with this sentiment more, people cope differently, sometimes its healthy and unhealthy but addressing what bothers you isnt unhealthy at all, always address what bothers you if it keeps nagging you since neglecting it will only bottle up an unhealthy emotional breakdown once its too much which goes back to earlier on in the intro when Alicia mentioned letting it all out was a relief since that bottled up issue wasn't let out enough, so yeh let it flow and keep preaching Alicia ❤
The cast are under contract not to say anything. The cast are in a NDA agreement... so if they came out and spoke out for her, they would have gotten into legal problems. Akane was holding all the pain in despite the cast and her mother asking. Luckily for the cast they were more aware. The producers are the ones fanning the flames and wouldn't speak out because of the ratings they gotten.
Someone already talked about Hana Kimura on the last video, but an interesting thing happened after Episode 7 came out. Hana's mother actually took some offence on the portrayal of the event being too similar with the events that transpired and that the joshi wrestler did not survive. She thought that the topic had to be talked about, but this was insensitive. All in all, it feels like Aka Akasaka, the writer, felt strongly in response to the event, and proceeded to write a story when the tragedy had a happy ending. We can only hope that with stronger laws regarding cyberbullying that have been implemented after what happened, now carrying jail time, in tandem with Japan's infamously high conviction rate, can make the industry more healthy, and that other countries will follow suit.
I was anticipating your reaction so much ! I didn't finish the video yet since I had to go to work but here I am posting a comment already for the algorithm lmao. I'm glad I found your channel & especially your reaction on Oshi no Ko. I don't have many friends who are into these kinda animes so I feel like I'm welcomed to talk about it in your community & see what other people think of the show. It's even better with you since you're literally coming from the industry ! Keep up the good work & also great debut on One Piece !!!
I love when Alicia pauses a video like this to go on a 5 minute tangent about her own life and then unpauses only for the next line to 100% agree with and basically sum up exactly what she just said. This show is on her wavelength.
13:46 in the previous episode they mentioned they are contractually not allowed to talk about anything that didn't appear on the show/off camera. It was one line so pretty easy to miss. So its not so much that they didn't care enough to speak up and try to change the narrative but more so that they legally couldn't.
Hearing that this gave you such catharsis at the beginning of the video made my day, I'm just so happily blown away when fiction can do that to people. Cheers 😁
So, the reason that they weren't sticking up for her in the comments is mostly because they are contractually obligated to not discuss anything that doesn't air. They can't say that the show is lying or anything like that, so they resorted to trying to help her cope personally and directly instead, which of course doesn't always work.. I also wanna say that I disagree with the notion that Ai was "just born that way". Sure most of her personality is genetics and whatnot, but a lot of who she was (and specifically what Aqua and Ruby knew of Ai) was the result of deep-seeded trauma. Part of our journey as viewers is unpacking that and understanding just how damaged these people are, and how the entertainment industry will take advantage of that in a heartbeat. Imagine the amount of guilt that former president Saitou must feel about Ai, since he is the one that took advantage of her to create B Komachi's fame, but ended up feeling like a sort of daughter to him. Also! Love your vids!!
I don’t know if anyone mentioned this last episode, but Akane’s story seemed to be heavily inspired by Hana Kimura, a Japanese pro wrestler who regrettably took her life after very similar events. There are many ways to interpret the events of the show and their relation to real life, similar stories. But my interpretation is that Aqua’s intervention in Akane’s attempt is almost to bring a sense of closure for the cases where there isn’t someone like Aqua there. To show that when all seems lost there is an alternative ending. A good ending. And the fact that you felt seen and were able to have a moment to process your own feelings is beautiful. I hope that the episode reaches other people in a similar way. I also love the way Aqua talks to the director about the footage. It really shows how Aqua’s character is a mix of his past and present life. In a way, he is an adult, so when his eye glowed and he asked the director what kind of an adult chooses to not protect a kid, that’s Aqua being an adult and reprimanding another adult. It’s the exact right thing to say, that can only come from him having that perspective as an adult wanting to protect Akane himself. It’s actually so good. That line gave me chills. Mmm and Akane’s impersonation of Ai is so great. From the movements to the way she walks to the way she talks, it’s so good.
oh no Alicia was talking about "acting" and fictionalism while doing e-sports in order to keep the daily hate from affecting her as much and then all of a sudden I started thinking about Alicia as "Alicia's voice-actor"
I don't know if anyone else mentioned this, since it's kind of a minor part of the beginning of this episode/end of last episode: Akane freaks out when Aqua saves her because she didn't know it was him, and assumed it was one of the people online who have been wishing harm on her. She thought she was being attacked, not saved - her mindset was that the whole world was against her and couldn't even begin to imagine salvation.
Hey Alicia, I don't know if it is proper of me to call you hun, so I won't but just know that I want you to wrap yourself up in a blanket, and have some warm beverage, because you deserve it. I just saw your episode 6 reaction an hour back, and what you said echoes a lot of my own personal feelings. I am terrified of putting my face, my voice and my name out in the public, especially as someone who is not an american. Everytime I think that maybe I should speak up, and maybe put something online, I remember being made fun of in online lobbies and discord channels, for "Call Center" voice or "Scammer" voice, so much so that I never want to sing ever again. In real life too I used to have a speech impediment, until my seventh grade, and while it went away as I grew up, and also due to me working extremely hard on my enunciation and intonation, I am still hyper-concious of how people gesticulate and speak. This also makes me incredibly afraid to put myself out on the internet I am incredibly impressed by your experiences and while personally I have decided to never become an "Influencer", you have my deepest respect. Please take care of yourself, I'll be praying for your well being. May the gods be with you. :)
I must say it! 35:40 This is another thing between me and Akane. Her skills of researching, analyzing and portraying characters is just like my skills! Big W for my favorite girl from Oshi No Ko Akane Kurokawa!😂 Great reaction!😃
26:15 Aqua switching from intimidation tactics with his dark star power to appealing to paternal nature with his bright star power is usually under-appreciated.
I've been watching a therapist go over the series and he goes jver animes like if he was to give counciling and trying to point out where trauma happened and how to be mindful of stuff, so by episode 5-6 he had a wall with pictures and made a vid about putting little strings between the characters, at episode 7 tho he had to go over everything again because he felt so off, kinda weirded but valided, by having a character do what he was doing and the irony of it, then he spit water on his keyboard because of her getting the star eyes and he just wasn't ready for it much like aqua was surprised haha.
Nuu, this anime really out here making grown ass people cry in the first minute. "Twitter's a rampage tho" HAHAHAHA You're GOATed for nailing the ending scene of the episode prediction.
Aqua's words would have zero effect on the director if Akane wasnt always "pestering" him for tips on how to do better. Pretty much all her scenes, before ep6 became focused on her, was her with her notes talking to him. It is something Pieyon said two eps ago. "The viewers wont be able to tell but the people on set do." The director is scumbag for throwing a teenager under the bus for ratings but at least was able to recognize her efforts and decided take a step back out of respect as a professional.
About other cast members not stepping in to say something. Akane was monologing in last episode about her contract and that she is not allowed to say anything that wasn't put in the show. I think others have same contract and that's the reason why everyone kept quiet and was waiting for this situation to calm down.
Every single reaction to this I watch, I get hype tears, hearing her say Aqua's name. So, I saw a video the other day that said Ai was originally a permanent character in the story, with no murder. Aka then realized...Ai is too powerful. Too perfect. Too bright. She had to go, otherwise...what could the other characters even do to shine? Doesn't that feel a good deal correct? That teenage Japanese fictional girl still radiates "glory" in my head, long after she's departed the show. I think the story would not be nearly as loved, but Ai would be a meme'd waifu for sure. We just have to endure with the legacy she has left on the world of Oshi no Ko.
A Big Brother contestant committed suicide. I don't know whether that was before or after the show got therapists. A restaurant owner also committed suicide after being in an episode of Hell's Kitchen. Game shows are like something you'd invent if you were trying to cause suicide. You're offered a life-changing amount of money but you're given a long series of chances to mess it up & if you lose, you spend the rest of your life watching your family struggle through poverty because you didn't do well enough *and* you end up in failure compilations on UA-cam. Some of the hosts even make fun of the contestants.
the cast never talked about it because its against their contract to talk about anything that didnt air so if any of them said anything it would have ruined the shows "narrative" and would have gotten them sued, plus they are teenagers so getting sued by a huge corporation would be hella scary and they wouldnt want to risk there careers that young. plus also being teenagers might be afraid the mob will go after them
"I will sell my soul to Sa-chan for her acting ability to thrive" Um, does Sa-chan really takes good-hearted and selfless wishes? Isn't it, like, against his policy? 😅

Keep doing your thing, the few videos of yours I have watched have been great!
god every time i see akane acting like ai gives me shivers down my spine
its almost like seeing a ghost somewhat
yea it gives shivers down my balls

Akane researching in the manga looked like absolute insanity
I legit scared she was gonna start her villain arc, it was even more unsettling than in the anime
13:55 last episode when Akane tweated apology she mentioned that they cant talk about what is behind the cameras. So nobody from cast could explain it as well
The needle drop on her eyes just going full star mode is one of the best moments I've ever seen in anime, no lie. Chills every time.
Goddamn.
>Someone insults Alicia
>"What's that song?"
>*Alicia the rat queen has appeared*
>*Health bar pops up*
>THOUSANDS OF RATS FLOOD IN TO OVERRUN THE PERSON THAT DARES INSULTS OUR QUEEN
Akane really aquired the sans eyes out of nowhere. I respect.
**Megalovania also plays out of nowhere**
@@JustMissie Aqua us having a bad time
The way at the end Akane walks forward, with the shot from below and behind her, is a perfect mirror of an animated shot of Ai for the animated music video.
Bro… when the music kicked in I got chills… the last scene is just too perfect
they mentioned in the last episode that the cast is under contract to not talk about anything that didn't end up in the show so that probably explains why the cast didn't clear up the misunderstanding sooner.
I find it so great that you overcame adversity and the hubby was a shining light. The world is definitely a better place with people like you in it, Alicia. Always nice to be remembered.
It never gets old to see Akane just crush it in her Ai impression 🤩🤩
I was hyped beyond belief in those two manga pages when I read it in the manga.
*And it's even better in anime because you get to actually hear how she absolutely matches the way Ai speaks.*
Who would have thought that out of all the participants in the reality show, Akane was the most badass kk 😂😂
funniest thing from everyone else's point of view, is how mature Aqua is despite being the youngest out of the rest of the cast
Edit: excuse me, aqua is the 2nd youngest. Yuki is currently 15
It is either him or Yuki right?
@@wisefelipe Lol I forgot about her 💀
I didn't think I'd get so emotionally invested in this reaction series lol.
Aqua takes a breath to calm himself before speaking and you can watch his eye go from dull to brighter, showing that he's letting that negativity and hate go to make an honest plea to the producer.
i'm just so happy to be a part of this community now
6:01 cant agree with this sentiment more, people cope differently, sometimes its healthy and unhealthy but addressing what bothers you isnt unhealthy at all, always address what bothers you if it keeps nagging you since neglecting it will only bottle up an unhealthy emotional breakdown once its too much which goes back to earlier on in the intro when Alicia mentioned letting it all out was a relief since that bottled up issue wasn't let out enough, so yeh let it flow and keep preaching Alicia ❤
The cast are under contract not to say anything. The cast are in a NDA agreement... so if they came out and spoke out for her, they would have gotten into legal problems. Akane was holding all the pain in despite the cast and her mother asking. Luckily for the cast they were more aware.
The producers are the ones fanning the flames and wouldn't speak out because of the ratings they gotten.
whole time when alicia paused i was just like: let them cook bc they know how to cook good af food!! loved this episode
Aqua's line "What kind of adult chooses not to protect a kid?" is so good. Common Aqua W. Also Akane's perfect acting scares me. She's way too good.
I love when Alicia pauses a video like this to go on a 5 minute tangent about her own life and then unpauses only for the next line to 100% agree with and basically sum up exactly what she just said. This show is on her wavelength.
Thank God I made it within an hour and commented. Hope this upload blows up too.
13:46 in the previous episode they mentioned they are contractually not allowed to talk about anything that didn't appear on the show/off camera. It was one line so pretty easy to miss. So its not so much that they didn't care enough to speak up and try to change the narrative but more so that they legally couldn't.
This as manga panel made me fall in love with oshi no ko
yooo
you mean at around 36:00 ???
SAME
Such a good episode! Thanks for all you do, I really enjoy your commentary!
Hearing that this gave you such catharsis at the beginning of the video made my day, I'm just so happily blown away when fiction can do that to people. Cheers 😁
Yeah, sometimes watching something that hits too close to home & makes you cry turns out to be what you needed. A Silent Voice was that for me.
Also! Love your vids!!
finally, she activated her Double Emerald Mangekyou Staringan. xD
27:54
in the manga it actually was 'Monster'
i guess they couldnt get the brand there in the anime

the greatest part of that imitation is the voice actress of akane really recreated ai's voice actress
oh no
Alicia was talking about "acting" and fictionalism while doing e-sports in order to keep the daily hate from affecting her as much
and then all of a sudden I started thinking about Alicia as "Alicia's voice-actor"
This also makes me incredibly afraid to put myself out on the internet
I am incredibly impressed by your experiences and while personally I have decided to never become an "Influencer", you have my deepest respect.
Please take care of yourself, I'll be praying for your well being.
May the gods be with you.

Wait, that sounds like Psyculturist
@@atalapastruca1109 and you would be right about that.
His name is just a tad hard to spell for me is all haha
did anyone else catch when aqua took a deep breath his star eye went from black to white
that last scene was the crispiest thing I've seen in a while, Aqua gonna need a therapist and an exorcist for this one.
Fun fact: Ai's VA originally auditioned to be Akane
Nuu, this anime really out here making grown ass people cry in the first minute. "Twitter's a rampage tho" HAHAHAHA You're GOATed for nailing the ending scene of the episode prediction.
I love Kana for being very knowledgible
We love that for her
I heard someone say on another reaction video about how "aqua didn't want the industry to take another life"
Aqua's words would have zero effect on the director if Akane wasnt always "pestering" him for tips on how to do better. Pretty much all her scenes, before ep6 became focused on her, was her with her notes talking to him.
It is something Pieyon said two eps ago. "The viewers wont be able to tell but the people on set do."
The director is scumbag for throwing a teenager under the bus for ratings but at least was able to recognize her efforts and decided take a step back out of respect as a professional.
Akane's level of intuition & deductive skills are L, Light, Conan-esque!
About other cast members not stepping in to say something. Akane was monologing in last episode about her contract and that she is not allowed to say anything that wasn't put in the show. I think others have same contract and that's the reason why everyone kept quiet and was waiting for this situation to calm down.
"You can't initiatine AI, it something you're born with."
Akane: Bet
**Activating Sharigan - Kakashi Copy No Jutsu**
MEM: "Aqua what type of girls is your type"
Aqua: "my mom"
推しの子のおかげで素敵なチャンネルに出会えました。。ささやかですが応援してます!
thank you so much for your support and welcome to the channel :D
Honestly you are the realist you tuber I know, keep it going queen!
13:50 I'd take that they didn't reach out to the audience due to their contracts
As a member of Alicia's YT community, I confirm I will eat the cheese from the fridge of any haters.
13:40 33:53 At this point, if she said she knew the original author, I wouldn't even be surprised lol
I don't drop in the comments enough, but I love your content, especially the Oshi No Ko stuff. Keep up the good work.
the cast never talked about it because its against their contract to talk about anything that didnt air so if any of them said anything it would have ruined the shows "narrative" and would have gotten them sued, plus they are teenagers so getting sued by a huge corporation would be hella scary and they wouldnt want to risk there careers that young. plus also being teenagers might be afraid the mob will go after them
"I will sell my soul to Sa-chan for her acting ability to thrive"
Um, does Sa-chan really takes good-hearted and selfless wishes? Isn't it, like, against his policy? 😅
