I frickin LOVE oshi no ko's writing for how REAL it is They don't give you a "bad at acting" character that only appears once and never mentioned again, they give him character development, humble him down making him realise how stupid his ego was, and make him grow into such a good character And likewise, they didn't just settle with making the green haired actor an A-hole and called it a day, they also gave him depth by making him actually have respect for melt for improving this much The character writing is so complex and down to earth so they don't have a single one-dimensional character And I LOVE IT
tbh they portrayed him as an a hole but his reaction is not entirely unjustified. some random dude who has no acting career and experience comes in and tries to tell you how to do your things. also to quote some other reactor “(aka) is not writing characters. he is writing humans”
I enjoyed this episode so much. Originally I was definitely hoping his overall acting improved, but it's true that only about a year of experience would not have an extreme jump in quality especially compared to long time actors. The fact he put his all in the one moment, it was so good. Melt is definitely becoming a favorite of mine.
Most that I’ve looked at so far have noticed it, I think - which I’m relieved to see, since it’s subtler than the manga (which shows a box of wooden practice swords with bandages around the hilts, one of which is covered with bloodstains) and I was worried people wouldn’t catch it.
This is why I love your content, Alicia. Your insight of movies and medias always went well with your deep understanding in the characters' emotions if given enough context. An S tier story made into anime, need people like you to share the joy of watching it with.
I find it interesting that an actor in this show has a to play a character whose acting starts bad & gets better. That sounds really hard. And yeah, I like it when a show shows that having privilege doesn't mean a person is bad. Too many people act like privilege inherently means someone is worthless & should be hated. And then they pretend everyone they hate has privilege so they can retroactively justify being a hateful person.
Oshi no Ko the kinda show to have an emotional existential abstract animation sequence right after making you tear up for a C-list side character...Like what the f***?!
True, we all have out own battels, and while its easy comparing you self to that dude beating down the demon lord and having the hole harem after him. Its not fair to yourself looking down on you own battels just because life did not hand you some special power. you might well be the side character, but not in you own life, and thats the life that matters. viewed like this, you path in life may become clearer, or as Aqua more or less said in this episode: just focus on that one thing if you dont have time for improving it all. Life really is about accepting all that we cant, instead of fighting fights we dont have the levels for. Or in other words, be real with youself and focuse on what have and what you have chance of solving or improving.
Melt Has had the biggest disparity between how I felt at first and how I currently feel about a character. I used to really dislike him and now he's my favorite character from the show.
I know some people are adamant when it comes to avoiding knowing stuff from the manga so if your one of those people don’t read farther. The line “a 3rd year senpai had her way with me” is different from the manga. In the manga the line was“I was taken advantage of by a third year right off the bat”. That’s my fun fact! I felt like that line from the anime went over her head and from what I’ve seen she’s not the first so I guess I’m clarifying somethings. Idk if this was changed or is just something for interpretation but either way I like that scene. And in someways I like this change better.
@@Ricardo_Rick true, I fully agree. I will say that I did get the quote slightly wrong but that’s because I couldn’t remember what it said at the time. The exact quote was “I was taken advantage of by a third year right off the bat”. So I’ll take credit that it sounds very different and wrong so yea my bad, but like I said I fully agree with what you said
I think both are pretty acceptable localizations, I'd have to actually see the original Japanese in the source material to try to see if there was any more particular nuance in the author's intention. Regardless, the point seems pretty clear he was in over his head and got used by an older student for his body.
Just finished watching this episode myself, and holy shit it's like they crammed a whole ass mini film about a side character into this one episode! GET IT, -PRETTY BOY- MELT-KUN!
I dont know who I want to ship Melt with: Kana or Frill. His schoolmates said he might end up dating Frill but Kana knows how much stamina he has. This epsiode really is amazing. Since it came out on a Tanabata date I was a bit sad that Ruby isn't in the episode at all. Well there's always the opening where she's in a koibito tsunagi with Aqua.
UA-cam sometimes shadow-hides comments with violent or demeaning language, sometimes when it doesn't even make sense, so could be that? It's been pretty finicky over the last several month in my experience. Also, links often get auto-blasted and possibly certain stuff the system thinks is promotional spam? Like I said, it's been pretty wack lately, best you can do is copy your comment before it posts and if it voids out immediately after posting on a refresh try to rewrite it with attention to anything that could set the machine "learning" library/artificial "intelligence" of the pseudo-black box algorithm off (I'm assuming that's why it's so bad, that they trained the auto-mod on a new data set recently or something)
@@Flamewarden_Honoushugoshin what’s wild is the obvious bot comments don’t get filtered despite using the most vulgar language possible, but relatively tame content gets censored (it’s a bigger problem on larger channels)

Aqua just casually changing this man's whole outlook on life, and then just being like, "I didn't do anything. I just told him he sucked."
Finally a reactor that notices Melt's sword (/owo)/
how many have you seen? jeez
quite a few have noticed that
None that I've seen noticed and I was getting frustrated :T

I mean I missed it, guess that is why I watch other people
And, of course, that gorgeous allegorical sequence was one minute long.
That shot of Yoriko in tears… our boy made good.

This episode blew me away with the emotion, the animation, and the character growth. Incredible episode.
That single minute means EVERYTHING to Melt.
Go Melt!!! 🎉

This episode made me wish that ACT-AGE got an anime adaptation before it stopped being published.
wait for this episode sooooo loooong
I cry everytime I watch this scene in manga

"took advantage" i think its a bit much, like i said the thing with him is that he is a pretty face so people liked him

I checked the manga raw, and it says 「中学校に入学して、ソッコー3年の先輩に食われた」. There’s a lot of ways to try and get the gist across, I think.
maybe this episode Aqua is really smiling without problem.
OSHI NO KO BE COOKING 🔥🔥🔥
I remember this, so good
