I love that we get to have a "cheap" guy do reviews. We need more people with your mindset on this channel.
Yes, this! He's not cheap, he just values his money. My kind of guy
@@nickh3064No one called him cheap nor poor. He is just a down to earth nice guy.
@@nickh3064 He quite literally called himself cheap at 9:47. It's nice having a "cheap" host on the channel
Cheap guy review is such a good name for this
OK so as you are npt satisfied, how many 'Cheap' guys with this mindset on this channel do you think is the optimum number? 1 more? 7? All of them? Is it more of a ratio than an absolubte number? Say, for every non cheap person there are 0.7 Cheap guys on the channel? How about for every expensive car Doug owns, there are 2 cheap guys on the channel. 'Cars & Bids is 3 syllables, so maybe three 'cheap' guys is the right number? There are 12 months in a year. 12 Cheap guys? One for each month? Wait, 366 days on a leap year, double it, divide by pi, add the number of litres of fuel Kenan drinks = correct number of cheap guys on this channel. I think so.
Filippo is transitioning from an Italian to an Italian American. Someone get this man a gold chain.
so true lol
And a tracksuit.
New balance and jorts for the soon-to-be new corvette owner
@@RobertChay kennan said he would buy some for him
Hahahahaha! To tell you that this is spot on, would be a disservice to Italian Americans everywhere. Its just a fact
we absolutely NEED more Filippo reviews on the channel !
yes, and bring back their female friend reviewer, think her name was Alanis?
Agree!
@@fishbowl7098no way, she was awful
@@fishbowl7098 I think that bridge is burned, Alanis replied to someone on Instagram that they fired her with no warning because the videos weren’t doing well (I’m not sure if Doug was involved or it was something that came from the new investors) and it seemed like there’s some bad blood there.
@@fishbowl7098 I think that bridge is burned for good. She replied to someone on IG that they fired her with no warning because the videos weren’t doing well (idk if Doug had anything to do with it or it came from the new investors) and it seemed like there‘s now some bad blood there.
Well done for taking Kennan's advice and renting one first. Good to see a Filippo video.
Yeah, renting fitst is always a good idea.
He didn't want to pay to rent it, but if he makes a video on it then Cars & Bids can pay for it 😉
Kennan has the technical expertise, Doug has quirky mind and the eye for subtle details… now we have Filippo that see cars through the eye of a regular Joe. And I love that. We need more Filippo take on things.
As a c7 owner. This was very refreshing to see on this channel. And I’m only 31. That mid life crisis stigma is changing.
That or we're celebrating our mid-life crisis early ;)
Fellow c7 owner here, 35 years old. It’s an absolute joy to drive, won’t be giving it up anytime soon
I’m 30 and I will say imagine getting in and out of this thing at 70
it aint changing lol but you shouldn’t care
lolololol its an auto xDD
We need more Filippo reviews. I liked his style, personality, and natural commentary as a whole.
Agree
Glad being able to watch Filippo making a solo video, cannot wait to hear and see more from him!
Filippo fr chill as hell
I feel qualified to comment as someone that replaced a 500 Abarth with a manual C6 in the last 6 months. I'd never driven any Corvette before then, never even seriously wanted one, but it has been great daily driver. It's quick, it drives great, gets up to 30 MPG, doesn't crash over bumps, the only electrical problem I've encountered I believe I've fixed for $10. Really enjoying it!
lol I didn't expect him to go from a fiat 500 to a c7
right? big upgrade for sure! 🤣
I’m a budget oriented enthusiast. I love my C7. I have a manual in San Diego if you wanna try it
As a Briton, the Corvette is such a bargain in the US.
Avoid the Jag - think British reliability.
But Jaaaaaaag is so pretty 😍
If you’re enjoying this one, wait til you’re in the manual and experiencing the amazing noises the rev match makes, and get one with competition seats and carbon fiber interior trim, you’ll be on cloud nine!
or on channel 9 if you do not know how to handle and control the beast...
the manual is far better i cant believe he would even rent an auto
@@BingBangBrine Manual rentals are probably hard to find. Rental companies don't want to deal with a manual getting trashed by someone who can't drive a manual.
The C7 weirdly suits Filippo perfectly. Go for it!
after watching the podcasts and the old live auctions i freaking LOVED this video. Seeing Filippo indulge in this guilty pleasure was absolutely fantastic.
This is definitely the start of Filippo's transformation from "Italian hatch guy" to "American muscle guy"
I hope so much he gets a corvette. It seems to fit his need well. It just will not break as much as anything else.
I can only imagine that Doug saw that your main car was a Fiat 500 Abarth and immediately went "this is the exact kind of vibe we're looking for at Cars and Bids, you're hired." Great video, corvettes are always pretty rad.
Him and Doug were already friends for a long time before C&B. I remember watching some old Doug videos where Filippo was featured
@@huhuuhuh9081the Kia spectra video will always be legendary
Filippo it's just so relatable, hope to see other runner up for your purchase
In a word - yes, it is! The C7 Stingray Z51 / GS is one of the very few (maybe the only?) modern sports cars that combines lightweight, an NA V8, manual transmission, RWD, analog driving experience, and open roof if you want it. And then there's MagRide which is an absolute game changer. All Corvettes have a certain image, I get that... but if you get past that, it's one of the best modern sports cars IMO. If BMW or Porsche made a modern car with that formula (lightweight, NA v8, manual, analog, RWD, etc etc) it would break the internet. But, I get the vette image isn't for everyone. I'm in my 30s and I do wish the image wasn't so mid-life crisis haha. But that all melts away when you're carving up a twisty road with the roof open and rowing your own gears the v8 echoing off the mountains. And I know we can debate whether or not it lightweight ... its no Elise, but compared to other modern sports cars, its lighter than even the V6 competition ie Supra, Nissan Z, 911, M4, F-Type, etc. Miata is obviously lighter but slow, the only car I can think of with any grunt that's notably lighter is maybe Boxster GTS. When I was shopping, I really didn't want the answer to be Corvette. I really didn't like the image, but the more I shopped and test drove cars, the more I couldn't help but think it's the best modern affordable sports car on the market.
Me personally, I would rather pick the Mustang GT350.
@@tnhn1903 fair, I love those cars, but I’d go for the lightweight and the open roof of the c7
@@JamesM-hb2cj yea, definetly a great choice as well!
Light weight is debatable but I agree with everything else
@@nick816smustangs are not known to be lightweight anyway 😅 but still very cool cars, as mentioned, NA V8, manual transmission, decent price, but idk whether they are reliable or not...
It’s really nice to see someone talking about car-prices in a more normal way. Most people watching probably cant afford even the car in this review. It’s alot of money- unless you belong to the very small group of really rich people..
Turoed one of these while on a trip to Palm Springs - came away with the exact same impression. I loved it for all the same reasons you mentioned and seriously considered one when I got back. We switched hotels mid-way through the trip and loaded all of our suitcases etc. in the hatch no problem. Was a perfect cruiser through Joshua Tree and the sound is so addicting. I fully agree it is one of the most well-rounded values out there and if I hadn't had to be a little more practical, would have gone for it myself!
Filippo killed it with this review!
I own a red c7 manual and my wife loves the car. We joined the local Corvette club and cruise all the time. If you buy one of these it will do 90% of what Doug’s sports cars can do at a tenth of the price.
The Costco run really made me nostalgic for old Doug videos!
The C7 is peak front-engine Corvette. The C8 is nice but it's a different kind of sports car. If I was going to buy a Corvette to daily drive, it would be a manual C7. As an American, you must own a V8 at some point.
As much power as you can reasonably use, good handling, a large hatchback, surprisingly good fuel economy, and can be serviced everywhere. The interior may not be as nice as a Ferrari's but it's not as expensive as one either.
Manual C7 Z06 owner- the manual is the best I’ve experienced. Auto rev match is shockingly good, shifter feels great and clutch is just light enough- won’t make your leg sore on long trips
The Z06 is the sweet spot for me, but the price jump between a manual stingray and a manual Z is insane
I think if he gets any C7 with a stick he won’t regret it for a second
I THINK WE NEED MORE "FILIPO INVESTIGATES"!!!!
Honestly, I like Filippo's presentation style a lot more than Kennan's. It's cool to have an "everyman" on UA-cam.
Filippo is a great addition to the content on this channel! Can't wait to see more videos like these
No man needs to justify any car. Go for it and don't apologize.
22-year-old here, the C7 Vette is hands-down my favorite car of all time. If it’s a mid-life-crisismobile, then I guess I’ll be dead at 30 XD
My middle school drama teacher drove a C5 Vette
Fully earned its crisis status there for me, before I was aware of being so widespread of a idea
But personally it’s just that generation of Chevy’s were off. C5 was like an aggressive Catfish Camero and they almost seemed like badge engineered siblings compared to other gems.
The weird plasticy not bumper on the C5 I really disliked lol
Filippo got me geekin 😍😍
I bought a 2016 Stingray 2LT 7MT a year ago and I daily drive mine. I've put about 10k miles on it, and I love it. There are about 20 days a year where I live that I can't drive it in the snow, but otherwise, I take it out every day. I drive to work, to the grocery store and on road trips. It's powerful, fun and since there are a gazillion C7s on the road with that big 6.2L GM V8, I don't have to worry about parts being scarce or expensive to repair, as would be the case with some of the other cars you mentioned as alternatives.
Only you know what is best for you and what you like in a car, but the C7 was the right car for me (just turned 50 and hitting the midlife crisis).
This feels like the origin story of Filippo's obsession and quest for speed 😆😆🤩🤩
great video FElipo. I really like the camera angles you have chosen. It is really refreshing.
I'm getting invested in Filippo's car journey. I really expected him to end up in another hot hatch like a Lancia Delta Integrale. I suppose thats a whole other price category. Maybe some day.
Agreed. Not into that obnoxious wing. Either no spoiler or a very modest one.
Yeah, I do think that wing is totally fitting for a ZR1 but definitely not a base model.
@@MikeKayK I personally think it takes away from the overall styling of the car. Too overstated in my opinion
@@sirdouglasberg A ZR1 with the ZTK pack has all those aero bits though, so the huge wang doesn't look out of place on it.
@@MikeKayK it doesn't look as obnoxious on that version, but still a little too overstated for my taste. I agree other styling aspects tone it down a bit. Moreso than the standard Corvette.
Filippo, you said you wanted something with power, a manual transmission, rear-wheel drive and four seats. You have to try a late-model Mustang GT. Heck, y'all just recentaly sold a gorgeous Bullitt for just $30k.
I bought mine at 23, 6 years and 75,000 miles later couldn’t be happier!
Good on you for renting one and checking it out, Filippo! You deserve to have one. :-)
I test drove an earlier C7 manual a few years ago when I was car shopping for something to replace my ND1 Miata. I didn't end up buying it, but man was it nice. I'm still dreaming of owning one, or even a nice C5 or C6 someday.
I drove my C7 to Costco. I had a 2019 manual. It handled the purchases quite well but all my friends gave me grief for taking it there. Loved your review !!
I wasn’t ready for Filippo to say Jawn 🤣
I wasn't sure I heard that correctly, but this confirms that. I'm on the other side of the state, but still raised an eyebrow at that. Lol
This video is very unexpected but makes perfect sense, perspective of person who understands that powerful cars are cool but also had reasonable cars up to that point
I'd definitely consider the price of parts labor and maintenance, as in oil changes, transmission fluid costs etc etc.
The other models mentioned could vary.
And accessibility of parts.
Power is fun. It's also addictive and you build a tolerance. I'm at the point where anything under ~350hp feels slow.
I liked this video a lot! Filippo made all the same mental arguments I did when deciding to look for a C7. I am also a Costco lover and New Balance wearer, but I'm not buying the car to try to restore my youth, it's because it makes the most sense of all the fun cars in the price range.
Not enough good C7 reviews out there because the car came out just before the high quality channels started up. In 2014 you pretty much had Top Gear and the Motor Trend YT channel.
Feels like a tv series watching filippo evolve like this
Great review! Love my past C7s. And you are single handedly driving those prices UP!
I love that Filippo is doing this video
Filippo is a NATURAL! Nice job Mr F 🇮🇹
Video reminded me of the early Doug videos with Viper
Great video Filippo! I want more content like this.
Filippo just like the sparkling water to the channel.👍👍👍👍👍
I'm loving the vibes of this review ✍️🏾❤️🔥
I have a 2019 C7 Grand Sport I've owned since 2022, with roughly 23k miles now. Was my dream car when it came out, and after ~6 years after I first drove one, was able to buy one. Has been a great car - few things to be wary of though. If you buy a GS/Z06, the wheels are really brittle. I bought a wheel warranty still went through 2 of them, and ended up buying an after market set. Rear tires can be expensive, the GS/Z06s had the widest production tires for its time. Higher mileage examples, might want to check for any torque tube issues those can pricey. If you go for an 8AT, those need a fluid flush, and the range module to deactivate the V4 mode, which can be problematic.
I don't drive mine much (only put roughly 5000 miles in the last 2 years), but every time I do puts a smile on my face.
Man what a great video, great content and finally some rolling shots! Great job Fillipo!
Great video! Filippo’s criteria is actually refreshing and not that easy to find on UA-cam. I’d be really interested to see him have a go in an F-Type and compare it with the C7.
great value and it is going to age wonderfully
The cheapest manual Corvette C7 I could find right now in europe costs almost 80.000€ and is in Italy. The cheapest one where I live (Austria) is 90.000€ and an automatic...
Guess this one is gonna be a dream to own here as well...
They start at 60k here in Germany, but yeah I know how it feels.
This video features something that's been missing from Doug's videos for years : rolling shots ! It's nice to see the car rolling, not just a close up of the reviewer's face the whole time
Filippo Hijack's the channel! Cool video, keep it up. Hope the bosses don't get mad!
4:10 "power!" as a small crossover passes him 😂
He was getting up to highway speed lol
Great review; thoroughly enjoyed this!
Keep it up Filippo, glad for you! We need more videos like this!
Look forward to seeing a series of Fillipo looking and purchasing a C7
Excellent video. More Filippo videos please
Never anticipated a solo video from Filippo but it’s a refreshing sight to see! Hope C&B’s giving him more opportunities to make solo videos as his “average Joe” perspective fills the void that’s oftentimes overshadowed by Doug and Kennan’s enthusiasm on anything expensive.
This was such a great video, it was so cute to see his perception of horsepower change in real time
Really enjoyed this review and video!
I have a C7 Z06 with the manual. I sometimes shop other cars, but sometimes I think I want to keep it forever.
I’m glad the dialogue around these cars is changing. Too many people let the new balance and jorts stigma keep them from enjoying a fantastic car.
Amazing video. I can’t wait to hear about this in more detail on the next pod.
Also in the market for a 2nd car in this price range so I appreciate this content!
Doug would be absolutely RIPPING into Felipo rn. As someone who drives a Ford Edge he made a good point that I could actually afford this.
Filippo is naturally good, and I love this fresh new perspective on cars
I'd watch a full series where you drive all the competitors you mentioned and then decide from there!
Like my driver's ed teacher told me, "You're turning a wheel, not pulling a rope." Good vid, I always enjoy your content. Go for the C7 non-Z06 and you'll love it.
More Filippo reviews please, also, more Filippo reviews of Italian cars!
That was a pretty damn fun video. Gimme more.
It is refreshing to watch this kind of reviews from ordinary man perspective. Keep going, you are doing great! ✌️
Great video Filippo! I appreciate your perspective!
Ngl I love the drive-by shots. I'm pretty sure all of us need more videos like this.
In here for this filippo!!
Filippo, try a 981 Porsche Boxster S!
I've always loved that car
We need more Filippo content!
Filippo FTW
I'm glad you decided to do the drive it for a day method of figuring out if it's right for you. You deserve a car that can ignite your love of driving, if there's a love of driving in you to ignite. A Corvette might inspire one ✨️
And for 35 thousand more you can get a C8 3LT!
Awesome solo video from Filippo, well done sir!
MORE PHILLIPO REVIEWS!
Also, more Filippo! Great video!
Love these Philipo vids
enjoyed this video! more felipo
This was a super relatable review, I've always had a spot in my heart for Corvettes, but I usualy drove scooters, biggest being 300cc and usualy prefer 125s so I get the power thing so dam much. You've probably bought one by the time this video aired, but I'd suggest getting a black one because then you won't feel as shout and flashy when you don't want to. Hope you get one and enjoy the hell out of it and I'm so glad Doug brought you guys you the channel, your content is not the same as old top Gear, but to be equal level of entertainment.
981 Porsche boxer.
It’s a c8 with the one of the best sounding Porsches I would say ever (with a sports exhaust)
It’s reliable as can get (doesn’t have a ball bearing issue)
It’s fast and nimble and doesn’t have that much weight ( like a Miata it’s go karts somehow)
And it’s basically a 991 911 with the right price and the engine is at the correct position.
It’s have a lot of space almost the same amount of C7 or more because its have a fronk.
And A lot of them goes on sells in cars and bids and the prices are fairly good under or the same amount of C7 or less
Just try it the least thing that could happen is that you’re not having as much fun that you had with the c7
(I’m not a Porsche fanboy I despise those people but even l have to admit this car is pretty cool)
My brother has the Boxer, my C7 has more storage and is way easier to work on. The Porsche has fantastic handling but the C7s power is just too addictive. C7s are more common and thus easier to cross shop. When I looked at getting a P-car they are optioned so differently it was hard to find two the same. But one look at the mid engine setup and you realize you’ve got zero access for maintenance. That just scared me too much.
Filippo for president.
Very natural and relatable on camera! Would love to see more Filippo content.
Thoughts on a low mileage s2000? Not fast in a straight line but very fun, reliable and surprisingly practical.
More Filippo videos plz.
Really enjoyed this! Filipino is a boss
More Filipppo content!
