My lord, Nathan’s mom got on my LAST NERVE the ENTIRE season! She was in EVERYONE’S business and the fact that Nathan’s dad is more willing to accept his son and than his mom made me so mad. She really needs to work on her own $hit so that she can be a good mom.
The quotation marks on “bi” made me uncomfy... Let’s not erase the very real possibility that he’s actually bi. Sure, he has feelings for Chester the entire season but that doesn’t mean he’s only attracted to men necessarily, he’s just hung up on this one particular guy. We aren’t given enough context to be sure if he’s using this as a way to come out as gay later or not, so it’s better not to assume. Because, being bi myself, I can tell you it’s so frustrating when people believe our sexuality is only a steppingstone to something else. I don’t think you believe that about bisexuals in general, but saying it about Nathan might reinforce some fucked up beliefs that lead to bi erasure. I really hope he’s bi because bisexual boys need that kind of representation, so maybe I’m refusing to see something, but I really think there aren’t enough clues to let us know for sure. And at the end of the day, what a person sees their own sexuality as is what counts, so as long as Nathan believes and says he’s bi, he’s bi in my book. So, just to be safe, maybe refrain from being so sure that he isn’t
But I totally love your videos and I mean no harm by this comment, just felt the need to say this. Maybe that’s not even what you meant, but I’ve grown so accustomed to having to defend the legitimacy of bisexuality that sometimes I might read too much into things. So, I’m sorry if that’s the case and I misunderstood you!
yeah i was uncomfortable w that too…..because i think the whole purpose of making nathan bi on the show was to push back against biphobic stereotypes (hence showing the gay dads accusing him of being actually gay, the mom saying he was just acting out and can be straight and even nathan himself reaffirming his attraction to girls throughout the series). it’s true that a lot of gay men i know have come out as bi initially but i don’t think that’s the case for nathan, and assuming that it can definitely be harmful. i’m pretty sure the writers themselves made him the character whose bisexuality they’ll explore the most specifically, so based on how they’ve handled the queer characters as a whole, i doubt they’d do the typical thing and make him “actually gay” later on. idk, i agree with you, that made me very uncomfortable
I really want a second season of the show because I feel like they left so many good storylines to be explored but I'm scared that Sam's going to be the person to show up at the billboard with Chester. He's the only one who can find out where Chester is and the only one that doesn't have his own drama going on at the moment but if I'm right I would hate it so much. I just hate student-teacher relationships and if they go back to that weird dynamic of Sam and Chester I will skip over all of it.
yeah beau was so dramatic there was no reason to break up with chester other than his insecurities. i hate nathan’s mother. nathan’s sis is the literal worst.
I disagree with your assessment of Part 1, mainly because I feel like _way_ too many teen dramas are rushed with terribly fast pacing (ex. Love Victor S2, The Society, Gossip Girl Reboot). The slower pace of Genera+ion was a breath of fresh air, and I don’t mind it’s slower story. I feel like people want instant gratification and super efficient character arcs with heavy payoff, and that results in shows that are good (Society) but would be _so much better_ if they just slowed down, took their time with the story, and built up plot twists and story arcs and especially romances.
Yesss! I loved the auntie character. By far one of my favorite because she was so sweet and supportive. And then I research who she was and found out she was trans. That’s awesome
it brought me to tears to find out the show was not moving forward with a season two, the absolute sorrow I felt 😢 I was so attached to these characters and even if sometimes they weren’t relatable to gen z mentalities, I FELT for their social awkwardness and insecurities and struggles with emotional intelligence, when any character took power and said what they’d been wanting to say or felt oh my I was therrre for that and I was listening to the podcast episodes as I went, these actors put so much into their characters, bless justice smith, chase sui wonders, nathanya alexander, nava mau and haley sanchez, their work in acting for their roles was so amazing ❤❤ definitely agree with one of ur other videos saying how genera+ion walked so heartbreak high could run however danG do I still mourn this show and empathize with the writers for not being able to continue it 😭😭 thank u @imurgency for making a second video about the rest of the season, I hadn’t seen the first vid but this review def had me feeling emotional yet again for this show ❤ luv ur videos thank u 🎉

I still don't understand how someone could not love the first half, its so full of queer joy. Second half is great and maybe even better but its so much more angsty. The finale had so much going on in that episode it was crazy!!! Nathan Mom is such a Karan who try so hard not to be a Karan but IS a Karan! I can’t believe I sorta felt bad for her because she sang and cried at the club. Beau breaking up with Chester because of his insecurity is understandable but should have never been an excuse for him to break up with Chester, who literally put in effort to make it work. He says he knows he’s a lot and he can’t change who he is. Nathan and Chester do not work for me!!! Her friends did something really shitty and she did exactly what she needed to do
exactly! the first half of S1 felt extremely flat. the second half is actually quite good as character developments came in. and idk Chester and Nathan are cute 😭 but the scene in the car with Chester and Bo is peak cinema fight me
Am I the only one who thinks Bo started to like Nathan the way he complimented him when he broke up with chester and his response when Nathan went to talk to him after ending up complimenting him
honestly i feel it could have been Sam who showed up at the Chester’s place, to take real care of him after the phone call because i feel they’ve had the strongest connection among other characters but idk i just want a second season to know that!! and my show suggestion is a really good & beautiful teen drama called "We Are Who We Are" on HBO. peacee✌️
Pt 2 of season 1 was definitely better than the first half. It fleshed out all the characters much more and that was DEEPLY appreciated. The writers just don’t like Chester because why was he all by himself to deal with his emotions in the finale and WHY did they try to make us think he’d kiss Nathan?? (S/o to Nathan for seeing through that btw, very few selfless things he did) Also Bo had a VERY real reason to breakup with Chester using the weird, pseudo relationship he had with Nathan. But instead of that…he’s insecure that he can’t handle a bad bitch?? Yeah the writers just don’t want to see my manz win. I hope this breakup at least leads us season two of him dating a Black man…who’s the same age of him💀 RILEY AND GRETA FINALLY SPOKE AT THE LAST EPISODE AND IT FELT SO GREAT FOR THEM TO TALK OUT THEIR FEELINGS! Back to Nathan he and Naomi are very similar in which they cause relationship problems but Nathan actually feels bad afterwards. Naomi deflects responsibility and for that, I side eye
i woke up wanting to re-watch this as a comfy teen drama and saw that warner bros removed it from hbo in august.....i SOBBED last year when i looked up if there was news of a S2 to find it being cancelled and finding out in the same articles that greta being an ace lesbian was canon. the whole time i watched it i was like "wow shes like a solid ace rep if i can dare say so myself". does anyone know where to rewatch this now?
I don’t think Chester should be in a relationship. There’s a pattern every single every single time Chester gets to involved in a relationship or catches feeling to fast for a person he falls off the rails. He lets being in a relationship define he worthiness of love. And he shouldn’t . Chester needs to seek therapy not a relationship. He never got those issues with his mental problems fixed the first part of the season. All he did was get into another relationship where he thought those issues with himself where gone. But No back to where he started on the billboard nearing death. He needs help with how to love himself not a relationship.
Honestly, I think J is the one who shows up with Chester towards the end, just following the theme of Chester going on the sign (just like episode 1) J was with him in the first episode on the sign
i have many thoughts about the show but one thing that confused the heck out of me is that the girl who spent the season going after greta, telling her she liked her, wanting to kiss her, to be treated as her girlfriend, even though you could tell from a mile away that greta was still hung up on riley, and was actually actively hostile to riley, did all that because she liked riley???? and wanted to be with her? like bitch for what? how? make it make sense? that was not the way??? but i'm glad they confirmed ace greta, that was awesome. also it had been a while since i saw part one and between the two parts love victor s2 came out, so when she brought back the guy she hooked up with at the zoo in s1, i was like RAHIM??? WHAT ARE YOU DOING HERE???
@@astoldbynickgerr yeah she probably is, it was more a joke on the fact that the actor who plays the guy she hooks up with also played a gay character in a show that was released close to this, so it was funny to see him in both
Nice , but i just wanna know the camera bc i am into filming & photography and my family is wanting to know the camera with good quality & battery and memory
Second half was wayyy better, but ngl I did enjoy the first half a lot too, (though I agree w the critiques), but ALTOGETHER it was a rlly good season I rlly want another season
I agree, it started off really shakey in the storyline then it started to slowly get better and I hope it does become a trend with the show itself. I'm honestly intrigued to see how each of the characters develop throughout the show if it does continue. Nathan's mother is a character I lost ALL respect for as soon as she walked on the screen, like ma'am.. stop denying your kids happiness not everything is about you, people don't choose who they like/love. Even though she is a terrible character, I am happy to see character's have realistic and ongoing flaws that A: Make sense and B: last for more than one episode.
I'm a straight male who absolutely loved the show but it got canceled. I really hope another streaming site picks it up. But I doubt it because the directors they were just happy to do one season just to bring it into the light to start up more LGBTQ shows
the way the producers said they were happy with the cliffhanger being forever a mystery that the audience can choose to make peace with it in the way they see best fit for ourselves..........please. It was a hard thing to let go of for me lol
U knew auntie was trans from the beginning. I like that they allowed the audience to like first before they revealed her truth. Next season I want more Chester / Nathan and Greta/ Riley.
I think I’m the only person that didn’t peep from the beginning lol, so that made the reveal kinda shocking and so cool for me. I don’t think I paid enough attention
Honestly I agree the first half left me only liking a few characters, the second half got me liking most of the cast. I also would hate if they put Nathan and chester together right after Bo and Chester because it would serve a horrible message that the only interracial couple that would last is a one with a white partner
I wouldn't say horrible and that it's the only option. I don't usually see interracial with black girls and white guys that last. But at least Greta being Latina and Riley being part Asian would be somethin
Honestly, my favorite character is Nathan's mom. Not because she's particularly likeable, which she's not, but because she's so relatable. My mom is the absolute *same*
I love Greta aunty I didn't even realize she was trans my face is so cracked now I wanna go back and re-watch to see how I missed that and omg and your cut aways to tue editor are everything!!!
I hope everyone who complains about wanting a college based tv show will watch All American Homecoming which is the college spin-off of All American because we already have Grown-ish most of y'all don't like that so at this point it seems like noise. The backdoor pilot of AAH ( which was season 3 episode 17 of AA already aired but the rest of the first season will air 2022 hopefully early 2022 ) .
I'm so glad you finally finished the second half cause it all comes full circle in the ending episodes 👌🏾 the first review was valid though cause the plot was very thin at best.
i literally watched genera+ion bc i saw you made a video on it. and i saw you had only watched the first half & didn’t know there was a second, therefore you hated it. and i loved it and i was so disappointed BUTT you made up for it with this one fs!
i think that on the last scene is the guy who had the baby with dalilah, i know that wouldnt be that shooked but it just have scense, they were with each other on the first episode and chester would react like that on the moment he saw a friend great video and sorry if something is wrong, english is not my first language hahahahha
Don’t be so hard on yourself, although it’s good to be open to accept when you are wrong, you weren’t wrong about the first batch of episodes, I actually disliked the first two episodes so much, I’m staying as far away from this show as possible and will continue to do so. But I’m glad for the people who stuck with it, that it got better.
i also felt like so many things were unexplained like what did nathan want to tell riley before he got to know she told his mom about chester? i'm guessing it was bo who came at the end when chester was about to jump so why would he come if he broke up with them? what was arianna's closure in the story? why do we get close to nothing from greta in the last few episodes because that really confused her intentions? is everything supposed to be okay for riley now that she said i love you to greta? WHAT THE FUCK IS WRONG WITH LUZ AND WHY DOES SHE KEEP WANTING TO GET WITH THESE TWO GIRLS WHO LOVE EACH OTHER? i also felt like chester was really depending on bo for his mental health and it was more of a dependency thing than genuine love and that's why it made sense to me that they broke up but i wish they didn't do it in such a whiny way
Your video showed up on my recommendation and I haven’t heard the show but because of this vid I became curious and watched the whole SEASON. It’s good ngl
I just hate how delilah basically thrashed naomi for accidentally spilling the beans but ends up telling everyone anyway. but i do hope naomi gets some character development and her mom too not giving up on them
Okay but Naomi had no right to tell. Even if Delilah did end up telling everyone, it was her decision to make in the end. Imagine if, say, Naomi had been outing her-it’s a very similar situation. Granted, I don’t think it’s fair to Naomi because she was drugged out of her mind. But she’s also a really annoying character who’s super fake, so I feel like this is a great opportunity for her to gain some maturity and stop being so superficial.
It seems like Chester and Nathan didn’t end up together??? I don’t know. I guess I’m still a little bit confused about that one bit in the series. We have no idea who Chester saw at the end of the last episode. Could it be Riley, Greta, Arianna….I bet the list goes on.
I need to get a new Roku, I really need to binge this show now. Maybe seeing all season 1 together will hit differently?! Love your videos and commentary.
The finale gave me anxiety and had me on the edge. Nathan's whole family sucks, he deserved better. I really want to slap his mom. They never communicated with each other. Riley and Greta deserve to be together.
Ps! Also IMO.Martha Plimpton was 10 yrs too old for Megan. Didn’t feel any motherly chemistry between her and the kids.., She came off like a Vice Principal who was minding two students in her home….and sorry, Ariana was annoying … they didn’t have a handle on how to write for this black character, so they made her “angry black GenZ woman “ In the end the series was incredible and l wanna another season Js
Auntie was one of my favorites before I realized she was trans. It actually deepened her family- her niece and her sister & her boyfriends...her family dynamic. Those 2- Chester and Bo - are not meant to be together-- therapy would help both of them-- not their relationship. Each of them needs to choose themselves first before finding it in others. Chester and Nathan down the road would be a good couple.
Her homophobia isn't even low key. She openly calls people f*gs!💀 I was so desperate for someone to beat the sh*t out of her, fr! The homophobia in the show is the reason I couldn't even finish it. After episode 2 I was done!
The second half was better, but I still found most of the characters to be insufferable. Like absolute bad behavior with little consequences. And what was the point of interrupting their conversations so much. It didn’t add suspense it just annoyed me more. The show in general just needed to SCALE BACK a little bit and flesh out the characters imo
The show moved too slow to me. I deff feel like the second half of the season was good! The finale was soooo stressing. Tbh I don’t feel like I need a season 2 but if there’s one..I may watch idk
What did you mean by Nathan coming out as "Bi" with the air quotes? As in he is afraid to fully come out as gay? I haven't seen the show so I need some clarification on whether this is biphobic representation or somehow related to the character's insecurities.
I don't think that Chester didn't want to kiss Nathan, I think that it was more about him being apprehensive because he was called out for using him as a rebound in that moment. Also, I pretty sure Nathan actually is bisexual. But he has feelings for only Chester throughout the entire first season. But you did nail it about Bo, I think. It's obvious that he's pretty insecure. It went over a lot of people's head that he used a fake emergency call to get out of his first date with Chester lmaoooo. He had to help his mom with a PowerPoint presentation??? Chileeee.
This might be an unpopular opinion, but I didn't care for Ariana at all. She was really obnoxious in the first half of the season and I don't think they did much to remedy it later in the season. I felt kinda bad for her in the meeting when the dude kept interrupting her, but as for the rest of the episode, I found her misfortune to be funny.
Really? I liked the first half better than the second and thought the second half wasn't that good. I'm not even sure I saw the last few eps and now I can't because it's NOWHERE.
That finale gave me ANXIETY😭
we was all on the EDGE of that chair
Facts I highkey wanted Chester and Nathan to smash but the state Chester was in he was no good to the anyone.
And now it's canceled! 😭😭😭

Yeah the writers just don’t want to see my manz win. I hope this breakup at least leads us season two of him dating a Black man…who’s the same age of him💀
RILEY AND GRETA FINALLY SPOKE AT THE LAST EPISODE AND IT FELT SO GREAT FOR THEM TO TALK OUT THEIR FEELINGS!
Back to Nathan he and Naomi are very similar in which they cause relationship problems but Nathan actually feels bad afterwards. Naomi deflects responsibility and for that, I side eye
i woke up wanting to re-watch this as a comfy teen drama and saw that warner bros removed it from hbo in august.....i SOBBED last year when i looked up if there was news of a S2 to find it being cancelled and finding out in the same articles that greta being an ace lesbian was canon. the whole time i watched it i was like "wow shes like a solid ace rep if i can dare say so myself". does anyone know where to rewatch this now?
its on tubi (free streaming, don't need an account just a few ads)
I don’t think Chester should be in a relationship. There’s a pattern every single every single time Chester gets to involved in a relationship or catches feeling to fast for a person he falls off the rails. He lets being in a relationship define he worthiness of love. And he shouldn’t . Chester needs to seek therapy not a relationship. He never got those issues with his mental problems fixed the first part of the season. All he did was get into another relationship where he thought those issues with himself where gone. But No back to where he started on the billboard nearing death. He needs help with how to love himself not a relationship.
I have high hopes for Riley and Greta! I love them so much
omg the constant interruptions gave me ANXIETY!!
IKR??!
2:09 Why rhe air quotes on Bi?
RIGHT I WAS SHOCKED.. LIKE RAHIM AINT YOU??💅
Riley could be bi
@@astoldbynickgerr yeah she probably is, it was more a joke on the fact that the actor who plays the guy she hooks up with also played a gay character in a show that was released close to this, so it was funny to see him in both
I love the cam quality LOL
I got a 35mm film aesthetic from it
Nice , but i just wanna know the camera bc i am into filming & photography and my family is wanting to know the camera with good quality & battery and memory
I didn’t watch generation until all the episodes were out so I was confused about your video once i watched it lol i’m glad you made another video!!
Second half was wayyy better, but ngl I did enjoy the first half a lot too, (though I agree w the critiques), but ALTOGETHER it was a rlly good season I rlly want another season
I knoww
I liked the first half but as soon as I got to the second half I was glued to the screen, it was so good!
yesss
I agree, it started off really shakey in the storyline then it started to slowly get better and I hope it does become a trend with the show itself. I'm honestly intrigued to see how each of the characters develop throughout the show if it does continue. Nathan's mother is a character I lost ALL respect for as soon as she walked on the screen, like ma'am.. stop denying your kids happiness not everything is about you, people don't choose who they like/love. Even though she is a terrible character, I am happy to see character's have realistic and ongoing flaws that A: Make sense and B: last for more than one episode.
I really hope it get renewed its the first time in a while i get invested in a tv show☹️
still v sad we're not getting a season 2
I'm a straight male who absolutely loved the show but it got canceled. I really hope another streaming site picks it up. But I doubt it because the directors they were just happy to do one season just to bring it into the light to start up more LGBTQ shows
the way the producers said they were happy with the cliffhanger being forever a mystery that the audience can choose to make peace with it in the way they see best fit for ourselves..........please. It was a hard thing to let go of for me lol
Chester's expressions are so intense yet he has only two moods sassy bitch and lonely sad.
I think no one noticed that chester was literally gonna commit unalivedness and someone stopped him
NAURRR THEY CANCELED SEASON 2
please don't put quotation marks around bi. If Nathan identifies as bi than he's bi. end of story.
Martha Plimpton served in her role, she better get an award for it lmao
I’m so mad we ain’t getting a season 2 😭
Honestly, my favorite character is Nathan's mom. Not because she's particularly likeable, which she's not, but because she's so relatable. My mom is the absolute *same*
And the actor does such a good job how can you not enjoy the performance and the character even though she’s so frustrating!
That Chester nude scene was unnecessary and uncalled for 😶🌫️
thank you for learning from your mistakes
I love Greta aunty I didn't even realize she was trans my face is so cracked now I wanna go back and re-watch to see how I missed that and omg and your cut aways to tue editor are everything!!!
I'm pretty sure Bo actually likes Nathan and that's why he broke up with Chester but I could be wrong
Your videos are a Blessing
i literally watched genera+ion bc i saw you made a video on it. and i saw you had only watched the first half & didn’t know there was a second, therefore you hated it. and i loved it and i was so disappointed BUTT you made up for it with this one fs!
i think that on the last scene is the guy who had the baby with dalilah, i know that wouldnt be that shooked but it just have scense, they were with each other on the first episode and chester would react like that on the moment he saw a friend
great video and sorry if something is wrong, english is not my first language hahahahha
It’s good ngl
honestly watching these videos is better than watching the shows, i love your analysis' and reviews
Please talk about Control Z! I LOVE that show!!
You should do a commentary on outer banks!!
Luv ur channel and videos and now im gonna watch the show!
11:18 PREACH. don’t even get me started on the gossip girl reboot
Why did you say nathan came out as “bisexual” is he not?
Ps! Also
IMO.Martha Plimpton was 10 yrs too old for Megan.
Didn’t feel any motherly chemistry between her and the kids.., She came off like a Vice Principal who was minding two students in her home….and sorry, Ariana was annoying … they didn’t have a handle on how to write for this black character, so they made her “angry black GenZ woman “
In the end the series was incredible and l wanna another season
Js
To be honest, your first part wasn't wrong. The first half left a lot hanging but the second half is a lot better in general.
This dudes cool
I BE KNOWING!!!!!!! Happy you was even able to keep watching and change your opinion.
I think Sam is who came to see Chester at the end
HOLD UP, Ana is trans???? omg thats so cool, cuz her character doent revolve around that
Arianna is the same if not very similar to Nathan & Naomi's mom Megan with her being low key homophobic
Her homophobia isn't even low key. She openly calls people f*gs!💀
I was so desperate for someone to beat the sh*t out of her, fr!
I haven't seen the show so I need some clarification on whether this is biphobic representation or somehow related to the character's insecurities.
no in the show, it is specified that he is 100% bisexual
I don't think that Chester didn't want to kiss Nathan, I think that it was more about him being apprehensive because he was called out for using him as a rebound in that moment.
Also, I pretty sure Nathan actually is bisexual. But he has feelings for only Chester throughout the entire first season.
But you did nail it about Bo, I think. It's obvious that he's pretty insecure. It went over a lot of people's head that he used a fake emergency call to get out of his first date with Chester lmaoooo. He had to help his mom with a PowerPoint presentation??? Chileeee.
im glad u learned from ur mistakes and realized how fucking bomb this show is
I think is Sam or Bowl(whatever his name is😅) and not Riley
You should try to make a video about Zoey's Extraordinary Playlist!!
Please do outer banks! I love your series reviews :)
PLS DO THE FEAR STREET TRILOGY!!!!!!
Greta is the best, so glad the parents are separating, and I am Beau (who is so handsome, wtf WHY is he insecure???)
AYOOOOO watching the video now
Why did Bo randomly throw up on the table in front of Chester on their first date? I feel like that was so gross and unnecessary
Some people have a gluton problem. I forgot what it was called. I was disgusted at first until he mention he had some eating problem
I love this🔥🔥❤❤I totally understand
The second half was very much entertaining
This might be an unpopular opinion, but I didn't care for Ariana at all. She was really obnoxious in the first half of the season and I don't think they did much to remedy it later in the season. I felt kinda bad for her in the meeting when the dude kept interrupting her, but as for the rest of the episode, I found her misfortune to be funny.
SAMEEEE ANNOYING AF
I think it is Jay in the roof
Bo and Chester should end up together, hated that they broke up.
Ok I'm gonna finish the first half and then the second half and I'll come back to this video. I'll just leave a like till then.
Really? I liked the first half better than the second and thought the second half wasn't that good. I'm not even sure I saw the last few eps and now I can't because it's NOWHERE.
