Wow. Your video sure brought back memories of my teenage years. From fishing to picking berries to fiddlehead roots. A person forgets when he is away from home for 50 years. Keep the videos coming. Take care and stay safe.
Oh my! that takes me back 50 yrs when I was a teenager in Pubnico, NS. I worked in a fishplant gutting cod, pollock, hake and the hated cusk. Fish were huge back then; heads the size of footballs. Miss those days. Love the videos, keep posting!
you guys did great with the fish. nice fillets there go great this winter. we got a shark over this way takes half the fish. nothing like a lunch on the shore. any sign of mackerel over your way. take care and have a great week
Thank you for sharing this with us. You earned my subscription. Newfoundland is a beautiful place. So pristine. The landscape is very much like Ireland.
I find myself wondering if your father and grandfather introduced you and your brothers (and sisters?) to the great outdoors and if you grew up fishing and hunting and foraging with them. You’re so self-sufficient and comfortable whether on land or on the water and so appreciative and respectful of all that nature provides. It’s a real pleasure to go with you on your adventures.
Excellent job. Nice bit of cod everywhere it seems. We all blackberries by another name, crowberries. I have an uncle Ed Winsor who long since passed away who retired in Isle Aux Mort. His wife's name, who was from there, Was Emma. Can't remember her maiden name.
I’ve had the privilege of travelling to Newfoundland and Labrador four times. Part of one trip included a five day coastal trip along the south shore, west of the Burin Peninsula. One afternoon was spent fishing (with rods, so not jigging) for cod. My daughter and I fished while my wife took photos. Our guide/captain kept us safe during pretty rough seas and lots of rain. We caught our limit. One of the great joys of our lives. We still talk about it 13 years later. There’s no where I would rather be.
Good morning FRIEND. Been to Isle au Mort many times. I was school principal in Grand Bruit some years ago. Had to drive through Isle au Mort and leave our vehicle on the wharf in Rose Blanche! Another great video. Keep them coming!
Well after you started fishing I was sure Spencer Tracy (Manuel Fidelity and Freddy Bartholomew ( Harvey) we’re going to row over and ask how the fish were biting. It’s an old movie called captains courageous, and they were fishing for cod off the Grand Banks

i did not say in a hurtfull way at all. It's just that the cod trap fish are small. Back in the early 80's when I fished cod traps and gillnetted we usually catch an average cod about 8 to 10 pounds before gutting ,heading , splitting and put in the salt bult.
Now, if you were any kind of gentleman you would evite a guy to join you for such an organic feast from the sea bye. Enjoy the Flats bye. 🐟🐟🐟🐟🍃🍃🍃🍃🧀🧀🧀🍑🍑🍑🍑
Not allowed here against the law actually. It's called culling, and you could lose your boat if you get caught throwing back small cod and only keeping the big ones, federal government rules.
This is brilliant!! I love how you used all the natural resources to make yourself a meal.
Thanks

A couple of questions ... 1. Does cod fish have scales? 2. If you can only catch 5 in a day, how many can you have in your freezer at any time?
No scales, and 15.
What are the cod stock like that way now? Love the videos thanks 👍
Low, very slow growth rate.
I have read from some source the cod went to 500 pounds when discovered by Europeans.
Bit of an exaggeration but ya they got pretty big and still do
Nice video and nice fish, do you cut out the cod cheeks?? that looks like some good scoff.
No cheeks
