There's kitchen lingo, there's a code of conduct, looking from the outside it's a mess, but it makes sense to the crew. This movie may not be perfectly accurate but does capture a lot of what it's like to be in the industry
I feel that the bread statement ended with the bread plate, as they shortly serve everybody smoked chicken with tortillas, which are really just a central/South American bread , deriving from corn instead of wheat. Them being flat and made from corn doesn’t really make it not bread (salt, flour, water) at its most basic
John Leguizamo ordered the burgers and fries for everyone. And I don't blame him, because I wanted a cheeseburger, and crinkle fries the first time I saw it.
Plus John Leguizamo stated in the same breath that everyone was just plain hungry. While all the food was plated well to appeal to the eyes, all of it tasted like crap. When the burger came out, he felt bad because everyone could smell it being cooked. It sounded like torture.
Jack, never feel ridiculous for having fun. If it's not harming anyone--and as long as you are not harmed--enjoy! I love whimsical, ridiculous things. That's where joy is born.
This is just an alternate ending to Harry Potter, if Tom Riddle had been adopted by a nice loving family, he would have just turned into a murderous chef instead.

And while part of that is because I have a love for food (although not nearly to the degree that Tyler does), the class and privilege commentary, the little bits of humor dropped in, the study of passion vs prestige. I sincerely think it's one of the better movies to come out of the 2020's so far. Glad you guys enjoyed it too!
So one thing people miss is that Slowiks house is a exact replica of his restaurant Signifying that his entire life is Hawthorne, his entire purpose is his art/craft He has pushed away things like family and hobbies, all he has is his art So when he comes to hate his art and work, hebjas nothing left to fall back on So to him there is nothing to love for That's also why he condemns the actor, caise to Slowik once you have lost your craft or purpose Dearh is the only obvious solution.

oh yeah, kitchen clothes definately get hot. I did culinary school for a semester until it destroyed my love for cooking. But, yeah. It was T-Shirt, chef's jacket, what amounted to a tie for neck protection, the apron, and what were basically a pair of pajama pants (at least those were breathable). definately gets warm, but, you'd be happy to have those 3 layers on your chest if you had to deal with grease splatters that's for sure.
