Great interview Ryder! I love how you asked the question and then just gave him the space to answer. You added when appropriate, but you just let him explain and I appreciate that. Thanks for sharing and I can't wait to start building my second brain!

Hundreds of years ago, this was called keeping a commonplace book - a personalised encyclopedia. Look it up. Greatly enjoying trying to work this system into using a bullet journal.

@@AlexTourkin I use an app called Colornote. You categorise different lists under different colours. You can use it for anything. It's totally free. Been using it for about 13 years. I have notes on books, places, recipes,a diary etc etc. Everything is searchable digitally. Extraordinarily easy to use.

What Tiago is explaining on the artistic way of collecting data is right!! I already have images and notes stored in folders for their future use: ideas for this post, material for that course etc.
In drawing it gets very granular: all smiles, all angry faces, all haircuts... all comic page layouts, different color palettes etc. Date and time is irrelevant, I have to sort, name and tag each file. But I don't have time to do it, and it remains all unnamed and unsearchable.
After 20 years collecting material for my drawing activity, and for writing novels, my archive is huge. Unmanageable. And there are also mediaeval researches, because we are an historical town so brochures and some of my stories rely on exact information (Google is not the place to go, dates and facts have to be verified and cross-refer many documents) .This art archive is precious, I worked a lot on its creation, everything could be needed in the future because my job is to help in different projects, I don't know in advance what I will do, but they expect I am prepared and ready and skilled.
    .
How can I make the giant archive easier to use?
    .
With my brain fog and no short term memory, I can't remember what I did yesterday and I always feel like it was someone else to do the work. I am lost when I open my folders.
And if I draw a mind map of the archive, then I will not recognize it later, nor understand it... It's a big challenge, very difficult but I will not give up.
I only need a more detailed blueprint. (Or delete all? 😄)

Great interview 😊…I also thought it was interesting he shared his experience with Carbamazepine (Tegretol). My hubby has been on it for years, but he takes it for his epilepsy. He has no issues with his memory, or shares any of the symptoms Tiago shared, but it just goes to show that when it comes to medications and treatments…”One size fits all” does not apply….

@merleginsbergofficialPeople like Elon are pivotal. Far more pivotal than Tiago. Pivoting is extremely hard when when addressing global issues. Tiago may be "the people's" hero, but Elon will be rememebered for a while as a world leader. World leaders rarely have the benefit of "staying in their lane". When tbey do so, its typically the beginning of a dictator.
Elon shows us every year what a dick tater he can be!
      I treausre Tiago and Elon.

Digital tools works best as knowledge repositories. (Like, embedding YT links or taking programming notes, or general learning notes). This works best on digital tools based on the search, filter and grouping features.
Bullet Journal (which makes it really faster when compared with Traditional Journaling or note-taking because of its "SYNTAX" and room for CUSTOMIZATION relative to the owner) makes it really best at recording reflections, tasks, and trackers (habits, sleep, emotion ...). "GTD" can also be squeezed into bullet journaling which makes it a bit more productive. (Pomodoro your sessions too)
In short, lets take the best from all.

    • @plan4life
      @plan4life 3 місяці тому

@@LevisRajuI agree with you. But I think those artists anyway are doing something that is not sustainable in the real world. I have been down that road myself so many times, with bullet journalling, planning in a ringbinder and any other form of planning system you care to mention. Trying to make it beautiful can seriously get in the way when planning and often leads to stress when you are short of time, totally defeating the whole point - to keep your life and stress under control! Therefore decorating one’s planner should always take second place.

Great interview, nice to hear BASB and bullet journal topic together.
I also preferred a bullet journal for capture and day to day things and really wanted search. Just got a supernote A5X and it's amazing, search handwritten notes while keeping them handwritten and links between pages, and minimal feel of a notebook.

I gave a thumbs up like and I subscribed to the Bullet journal channel, because I am looking to start goal setting journaling and I was doing a Google search when I came across your bullet journal website or blog, lovely site, so I wanted to find out even more about it., thank you Laura in uk

    Amazing! Thank you.
Quick question about P - Projects":
I, like probably many people, have a few aspects of our lives like Work, Business, Home, Side-Job, etc.
Do we dump all the projects regardless of their "category" or do we make a clear subdivision of the project "folder" according to the various areas?
(I just used the word areas....which makes me think of a different way to ask this question: how can we "cross-reference" the projects we are working on with the different areas in our lives?)
    Thanks!

This year I have been studying the most popular productivity methods, hoping to find the right one for me. But I like something in all of them (original bullet journaling being the foundation, for I have ADHD) and now it's time to setup my planners for 2023 and I am lost!! 😀 Confused.
    .
Discrepancies, different names for the same thing, and it's not my language (not many good resources in Italian, and I prefer listening to the creators themselves)
    .
Other problem: I have a big archive on pc and on paper (family + work + art reference) and I can't reorganize it completely in a month.
    What should I do?

Why do you think you need to organize everything in one month? You can make this a project and slice it down. Step by step.
Like atomic habits. Start as small or big as fits for you 💪

I believe that "popularity" is a less than useful filter. What should YOU do? That's for you to decide. What helps me is to first filter my thoughts between "original/high energy" and "assumptions/low energy". 🙏 You really got me thinking!
