2:01 A lot of people say the Wii U gamepad looks like a fisher-price toy, but it actually looks pretty sleek when it's not covered in smudges and fingerprints. Wish Nintendo didn't go with the Piano-gloss finish design for the gamepad.
This still is my favourite Zelda game I've ever played ! I absolutely loved the other ones but Windwaker just had something that was so addictive. This HD remake is like a dream come true to me ! simply can't freaking wait for this !!!
5:25 When you are way too excited to say, in a way, it was my first game where I was able to freely try a lot of different approaches as I was playing to see what works and what didn’t while we were making the game.
This video shows all the reasons why I love Nintendo. They make a system with games in mind, fix things like loading with brilliant ideas, don't need things like photo realism to make a game realistic and really know how to reward a player. Nintendo will never die because Nintendo IS gaming
They did such a good job on this new version by improving without changing too much. Also the environments look beautiful!! I can't wait to play it for the first time!!
You can now map items to the control pad AND the x, y and zr buttons! Aonuma didn't talk about it but now there's less going to the start menu to switch an item. I hope they added a new dungeon too.
I like the ability to play this game exclusively on the gamepad. I recently bought a Wii-U. I loved this game on the gamecube and this game looks great in HD on the Wii-U. I think the gamepad on the Wii-U is genius and has nice touch features and clear HD display. I look forward to playing this game on the Wii-U using the gamepad features.
What's funny is that i played this game for the first time for my b-day and skipped school and loved it! Now i will do it again in HD on my Wii U. Thanks Nintendo!
theres more than one version? what were the 2 dungeons and one island? because when i played the game on the gamecube the triforce fetch consisted of using the treasure charts to go out to the sea and use the grappling hook to get the triforce shards out of the water... so? i'm confused, can you please explain?
Wind Waker is still on my Zelda bucket list. I've played the game before, but never all the way through. This will be the perfect opportunity to finally finish this adventure!
Will tingle tuner still be available? It would be neat if you could use the 3ds for that, but it would make sense to use the wii u pad. I remember inviting my brother to play windwaker after my first play thru just to try out the tingle tuner. The two of us had a good time.
Considering they want you to have a sense of appreciation for the faster sail, I'd say a good point to get it would be somewhere between acquiring Farore's pearl and right after getting the Master Sword.
In the video he mentions aiming with the gyroscope. That's what I'm talking about. I don't like using the gyroscope for aiming. I really like the idea of using the pad for menus, just not aiming.
well for me was for a fast momentum was the trick : sail + A (reptely no matter what) to go from island from island , because as he says a Little more faster than the trick you will go to the edge and fell , the thing is that the trick gave the time to reload the map, so no edges of the world for me
I think they could improve the triforce quest.Make it so that you must get a specific piece at a specific point in the game, in increments, so that once you finish the Master Sword crafting, you should have most of the pieces. Or scrap the eight pieces and leave it so its after the Master Sword crafting and make it so you look for only the Triforce of Courage, Power and Wisdom. Or a simple prompt from the King between each dungeon to get a specific piece at a specific place and he marks your map
Oh, so THAT'S why the sailing speed was so slow in the originals... This is why these developer directs are so awesome, you get to hear behind-the-scenes stuff like this.
They are. They're making Zelda for WiiU, and a sequel to A Link to the Past called A Link between Worlds. This HD remake was basically them completly the dream game they wanted to.
i can't believe windwaker was 10 years ago! i remembered when people were mocking it just because it looked cartoony, but when i got my hands on it i spent days on it and collecting the triforces was hard but well worth it at the end.
They said one was almost shown at E3 but it's somewhat short of being ready for showing. Development is going along well. Hopefully we'll get a glimpse of it in a Nintendo Direct in the coming months.
I don't exactly know since Nintendo never directly told us what these dungeons/islands were. Though the only clue we have is that the main elements of these unreleased dungeons were used in future games. So it's either in Phantom Hourglass or Twilight Princess since I don't think they'd hold the dungeon elements/ideas in games any further than that.
To me, it sounds like a bit of both. maybe you get a slightly better cutscene for getting the pieces or a different "got item theme" like in Ocarina of time where there was a separate theme for small items, dungeon items, and the medallion sound not to mention the theme when you got the fairy ocarina or a new song.
It's been a while since I played Wind Waker on my Gamecube. I am actually pretty excited for this! I would love to go back and play my first Legend of Zelda game improved on HD.
When they made WW for GameCube, they had to cut out dungeons due to time constraints. It was rumored that they would be re-added in the HD version, but after I posted that comment, Nintendo said that they had actually used the cut dungeons in other games, so putting them in WWHD wouldn't be anything new. For some reason, they didn't specify which dungeons those were, which I would like to know.
Look up PBG's view of the game. I'm with him on that one, as he said that there may be only a few islands, but there were still cool things and that kept alot of mystery. If you didn't like the great sea, then you're either just impatient or have no sense of adventure IMO. Because atleast every 30sec. SOMETHING would pop up. Some barrels with rupees, a little raft from moblins which you could take over, bombturrets you could take over etc.
When Nintendo first announced this remake I thought it would be pointless because I thought the original game cube graphics weren't bad at all, but now that they are adding new features and improving things, I'm realizing this is going to be an amazing game :)
the actually dungeons nobody knows, but would probably take place to get nayrus pearl and to power up the master sword with the original sage being a goron.
I beat the whole game and had no idea you could conduct the wand with the touch screen..
leftyfourguns Same here . Surprised
XD

they don't need them
and smash :)
well i am also really looking forward to the upcoming zelda game, could be that smash4 turns out to be like brawl.
Yeah on a pc. However most multiplatform games don't appeal to me anymore and i tend to play mostly indie games. Why do you wanna know?
One stop solution for secure and private file hosting with direct download

I might get a wii u just to play this game! This was my favorite game when I was little
Please please re-release / port this to the Switch!
Not happening. I had to buy a wii u just to play this game lol. Good thing somebody sold it to me really cheap.
Get a nice pc and you can have any game with dolphin and cemu
You can't download roms for wii u neanderthal
I have a good feeling we’ll see it at E3

Man I love wind waker HD still is one of my fav. Zelda games
This video shows all the reasons why I love Nintendo. They make a system with games in mind, fix things like loading with brilliant ideas, don't need things like photo realism to make a game realistic and really know how to reward a player. Nintendo will never die because Nintendo IS gaming

Okay, it's offical, I'm going to buy a WiiU for sure now that they're remaking Wind Waker!
This remake looks AMAZING!! I'm definitely going to buy a WII U when this game comes out!
That sounds really cool, can hardly wait to play this version.
I like Legend of Zelda and my Faforite Game is: Legend of Zelda Wind Waker HD
You can now map items to the control pad AND the x, y and zr buttons! Aonuma didn't talk about it but now there's less going to the start menu to switch an item. I hope they added a new dungeon too.

You can simply say Wii U
Wii-U is wrong
Matt Halpain what about the switch?
It's just so strange seeing my favorite developers getting older with time. I'm like, "Someone preserve these guys in eternal youth!"
PS4 all the way except when it comes to my wii u then I want all the zelda games :)
5:25 dat voice crack
You sir have made my favorite games of all time! Thank you for the hours of enjoyment!
Two dungeons (I think it was two) were cut from the original game, but they said in a recent interview that they've used them in other games.
Any hope this game and Twilight Princess HD (but Wind Waker first) will be ported to the Switch? Pleeeeeeeease?
@c0mpu73rguy Nah! just play them on a Wii U It's cheaper.
Hope for it as well
on home consoles yeah, but if you play oot on 3ds the buttons are the same: A for action , B for sword , e.tc
I just got this game recently. I can't wait to play it. I had the original GAMECUBE version, but I never got to the end.
What's funny is that i played this game for the first time for my b-day and skipped school and loved it! Now i will do it again in HD on my Wii U. Thanks Nintendo!
"You really feel as if you're connected with Link."
And that, ladies and gentlemen, is what The Legend of Zelda is all about.
there is a normal sail speed as well as speedy sail, so u dont necesarily have to go the faster option
Why does the ocean still clip through the boat? The bottom of the boat fills with water whenever the boat bobs down in the ocean. This isn't OK.
Thank you SOO much for this remake! I truly believe this is the best Zelda title so far!
theres more than one version? what were the 2 dungeons and one island? because when i played the game on the gamecube the triforce fetch consisted of using the treasure charts to go out to the sea and use the grappling hook to get the triforce shards out of the water... so? i'm confused, can you please explain?
What will they do about the Triforce quest, spread it out across the game to even the pacing?
so the version with dungeons instead of the triforce fetch was never released? and if so what were the dungeon names? and that island?
does anyone know of any added areas, like places that were cut from the original release due to either time restraint or file size?
Can you seroius play on the gamepad or is it like the ps vita?
I'm really curious to know what changes he's making to the Triforce Fetch Quest and the last part of the game that comes after?
it does have sequels in a sense if you look at the time line you will notice the games are in a set up and do correspond with other games.
I don't mind that, I meant in Batman when you're aiming the remote Batarang, you have to look at the gamepad.
Wind Waker is still on my Zelda bucket list. I've played the game before, but never all the way through. This will be the perfect opportunity to finally finish this adventure!
5:24 "In a waaaaay" lol
Will tingle tuner still be available? It would be neat if you could use the 3ds for that, but it would make sense to use the wii u pad. I remember inviting my brother to play windwaker after my first play thru just to try out the tingle tuner. The two of us had a good time.
I love how they present a game that is an HD remake in a video that is in 720P
Considering they want you to have a sense of appreciation for the faster sail, I'd say a good point to get it would be somewhere between acquiring Farore's pearl and right after getting the Master Sword.
he means the 2 dungeons and 1 island that were replaced by the triforce fetch quest in the original version
A Mario fan that also likes COD. And he doesn't even swear and press Caps Lock. You deserve a medal!
In the video he mentions aiming with the gyroscope. That's what I'm talking about. I don't like using the gyroscope for aiming. I really like the idea of using the pad for menus, just not aiming.
The bloom visual effect absolutely kills it for me...
well for me was for a fast momentum was the trick : sail + A (reptely no matter what)
to go from island from island , because as he says a Little more faster than the trick
you will go to the edge and fell , the thing is that the trick gave the time to reload the map, so no edges of the world for me
I can see they finally fixed that inverted cameran 2:00 it was a pain in the butt on the GCN version
How does that improve the triforce quest?
Thanks to you Nintendo, My childhood is even greater then ever before. Thank you guys :)
I just finished up Windwaker for the fourth time a few months back, and I still really want to play this!!
Okay so wait. Are they changing the triforce fetch-quest or are they just saying it will be faster with faster sailing?
I wonder if they added the islands that were taken out in the original. Like the GameCube island...
I have a serious question about WW HD: Is it going to be Re-orchestrated?
Oh, so THAT'S why the sailing speed was so slow in the originals...
This is why these developer directs are so awesome, you get to hear behind-the-scenes stuff like this.
They are. They're making Zelda for WiiU, and a sequel to A Link to the Past called A Link between Worlds. This HD remake was basically them completly the dream game they wanted to.
what were the dungeons and one island?
How is the Tingle Tuner implemented?
So does this mean that the Triforce piece search is replaced with an actual dungeon now?
i can't believe windwaker was 10 years ago! i remembered when people were mocking it just because it looked cartoony, but when i got my hands on it i spent days on it and collecting the triforces was hard but well worth it at the end.
According to the eShop page for Wind Waker HD, yes, the Pro Controller is compatible.
Where did you get that from? I'd be very surprised if we get it next year.
Would be realllllllY nice to move all that HUD information off the tv screen down to the gamepad for just a pure clear view.
This is a good time to be a zelda fan because WWhd is out in october, a link between worlds is out in november and a brand new wii u zelda next year.
Eiji's shirt collar has a surreal sense of realism
omg, he seems so happy and proud talking about his second Zelda game he created :)
Me and my friend have the gamecube version and we loved it and both dont understand why it would be re-released just wondering
This was a remake, the models are not just rendered in a higher resolution, they have more polygons. It's completely redone
They said one was almost shown at E3 but it's somewhat short of being ready for showing. Development is going along well. Hopefully we'll get a glimpse of it in a Nintendo Direct in the coming months.
your welcome hes sort of in charge and still does development i think
Play the original right now. It still looks good to this day. They only made it look better with HD. Awesome.

hey r u ganna post a lower wuality for 3ds cause i cant get a wii u

can we invert the camera controls this time?

For some reason, they didn't specify which dungeons those were, which I would like to know.
Oh I didn't know that, shows I gotta do more research, but is that a reason for them to mirror the world on the wii?
Those 10 years went by so fast...
Hope they fix the water clipping through the bottom of the boat
What do you mean by cut dungeons?
Look up PBG's view of the game. I'm with him on that one, as he said that there may be only a few islands, but there were still cool things and that kept alot of mystery. Some barrels with rupees, a little raft from moblins which you could take over, bombturrets you could take over etc.
Added to the long list of things I'm going to get the second I actually get a Wii U. EarthBound is right up there with it, of course!
What type of shirt is Aonuma wearing?
what were the 2 dungeons though?
I can't stop listening to the translator's voice cracking at 5:25. I've never heard a voice crack so severely in my entire life.
Only Eiji can talk about blue and make it the most fascinating thing I have seen all E3
You can feel the sunlight-
BUT LOOK AT THOSE SHADOWS! (You completely broke my immersion...)
I'm pretty sure Nintendo will fix it up before its release or afterwards via patches.
Anybody know what kind of shirt he’s wearing on? I like that round-neck
I wonder if this game will work with the Wii pro controller.
I'm also hoping for difficulty settings and new dungeons, optional or otherwise.
I'll check back in two years.
Lol I actually laughed at that voice crack at 5:25
When Nintendo first announced this remake I thought it would be pointless because I thought the original game cube graphics weren't bad at all, but now that they are adding new features and improving things, I'm realizing this is going to be an amazing game :)
Going to buy a Wii U for this game since it's m favorite Zelda game ever! It looks so beautiful!
Wow. Wind Waker was one of the BEST Zelda games.
the actually dungeons nobody knows, but would probably take place to get nayrus pearl and to power up the master sword with the original sage being a goron.
