Not really, the one who auditioned was Andre Matos. One of the founders and the first vocalist of Angra. Iron maiden was a huge influence on Matos, and is also my favorite band.
Every version of Angra are great. No matter who the members have been over the years. Great band of top notch musicians. Some of the best in the world.

This band has a big mix of influences and elements in their music. They do a combination of power and progressive metal with classical elements and some bits of brazilian folk/ethnic music(mainly in the complex rythms and some characteristics musical scales and dissonant tones). Some of their songs sometimes are really very complex. I would suggest 2 very distincts songs for you. 1 - 'Magic Mirror' if you want a complex more modern and progressive sound. 2 - 'Carolina IV' if you want something more unusual and with strong brazilian roots.

His voice was absolutely fantastic Kiko destroying as always in the Guitar and Rafa as compositor could overcome himself Andreoli proved why is considered one of the best bass players in Brazil Aquiles being Aquiles, the octopus at the Drumbs This is a good song but not the best on the Album. Morning Star in one of the best and beautiful songs but Spread Of Fire - Temple of Hate and Waiting Silience are much more aggressive

About the álbum, its a conceptual album that follows "the Shadow hunter", a crusader who starts to question his place in the war and his own faith that ask this kind of thing from him. Eventually he loses his family and, well, you know, its not a good thing for someone whos already questioning its faith...or maybe It is.

There are actually quite a few Brazilian metal bands out there and some of them are excellent. South America has a thriving death metal and thrash metal scene, and the Brazilian fans are the reason bands like Iron Maiden and Rush chose the Rock in Rio festival for their DVD films. I haven't listened to much lately, but there is an all female thrash band called Nervosa that has some good material Kay might like. Check out their video "Masked Betrayer".
On the topic of female bands, one of my all time favorites was Drain STH from Sweden. I would describe their sound as a kind of doom metal and their first album is still one of the heaviest I've ever heard. Check out the video for "I Don't Mind". Bit of trivia for you, their big break was Ozzfest 1997 and Toni Iommi of Black Sabbath was so impressed that he ended up marrying their lead singer. The band broke up but the couple are still together.
Pretty metal basically. And the latin rhythms are fantastic im not sure what guitar you were refering too but the nice dreamy sound almost violin sound they get is because the remove the attack(the strum sound). They might use volume pedals to do this. And alot of feedback. And a very clean picking style.
You really must listen to the Andre Matos time of Angra, mostly the Holy Land album, mostly the Carolina IV song, or Silence and Distance song, you will love it! André Matos was a professional erudite musician, formed at erudite classic piano and orchestral regency, he, in fact, made Angra incorporate the others styles of music in power metal! And he , unfortunately passed the way at this Saturday before! You could make this video to honor him! 🙏
