If you went to Catholic school, you totally get this song. Everything -- "I saw dusty icons on the wall," "Dear Lord, forgive me as I'm slapping
this sinful child," "Put your knuckles on the table,
meet my friend ferule who'll punish you". But then you realize it's actually a "happy story" because in the end, she rejects and defies her oppressive teachers and smiles to them triumphantly. She avoids the indoctrination.
At least that's what the song says to me...
Welcome back to Jinjer reactions! Check out the new Judgement (& Punishment) off their upcoming album Macro which will be released on October 25. Saw them Wednesday and it was amazing. Their editing on Micro is very close to their live sound, and they are continuing that on Macro. They also released a live performance of Perennial at Wacken recently which is great and I'd highly recommend doing it if you have time since you liked the studio version.
@paco acosta I was really impressed by Sumo Cyco. Their lead singer is quite a performer.

@@finfan_ttv Both Sumo Cyco and The Browning were good. I liked Sumo Cyco better but that's more my personal stuff than the quality of their performance. I hear they have a really good light setup of their own but it wasn't working at the one I was at. There will probably be a local group too.
I saw them in greenville , SC . It was an amazing performance from all the bands. Sumo Cyco like to interact with the the audience personally ,she ran thru the audience and jumped on the bar demanded a shot of whisky then proceeded to entice the audience to a circle pit, which we did :D , The Browning got us stoked to see Jinjer preform, they hyped the audience. Blackwater Drowning was the opener band, based out of Charlotte ,NC ... only Blackwater and Jinger got chants. home field advantage.

If they come near you on the current tour, go watch them! These youtube videos DO NOT do them justice. They beyond blew away all my expectations.
Tatiana has stated that this song is to portray all authority figures that push an agenda without having the supportive evidence. Thanks for the shout out.
Tatiana has amazing vocals and in this specially you can see how versitile her voice range is.., and she even pulls a bit of Nu metal in there, never expected a sort of rap growling from her vut she pulled it off quite nicely.

It’s called a blast beat if I’m thinking of the drum beat you are referring to. it’s often more prominent in more extreme metal like death and black metal. It’s extreme metals bread n’ butter. Too much of it can be monotonous but placed in the right spot at the right time will kick it into a more impactful moment.

I love how the dark crunchy guitars contrast with her clean voice in the chorus and bridge of this song... easily one of my favorites.... you should check out their song "just another"

Jinjer is touring North America right now. I saw them two nights ago, amazing live. They are starting the concerts with this song, one of my favorite. Tatiana has said this song is about not blindly following authority, because they might be wrong. Their new song Judgement (punishment) has a fun video that I bet you would enjoy.

@paco acosta no unfortunately their drummer got sick and spent the day in the hospital. I was looking forward to seeing them, but health first. He is ok and they rejoined Jinjer in Denver.
Saw them in St Louis , for the opening of the North American tour. They sound so much better live, then in the videos.

The Warning. Three teenage girls from Mexico, sisters. Their 2nd album, Queen of the Murder Scene, is a concept album, which is best listened to live because of the energy of their performance with an audience. The following links are time spots from their concert at Foro Didi in the order on said album because it tells a story.
At this concert, they changed the album listing for benefit of the finale. Thus, I reordered it so you can enjoy their 2nd album in what I consider their finest performance. Through technical difficulties, they push on giving professionals a lesson to aspire to. One particular technical issue caused a version of the second track I find more immersive than it ever was before. A failure with an acoustic guitar grants the song a whole other dimension I feel contains depth already there but certainly stronger.

Tapping is correct. The song presents scenes from a catholic or parochial school from back in the day and Tati's rebellious response to these harsh class environments. Of course it's a metaphor for more than that. Catholic and parochial schools in some countries were harsh with their punishments. In a way, similar to Pink Floyds "The Wall". IMO , it's about following one's own beliefs/path. Not to be swayed/fooled by other's opinions. Even if those opinions are from those in a position of authority.
