Ewan says "damn the sirens, it's my time to play!" Also I love how a member of the band can come in late as Barnabus does, sit down and start playing without missing a lick. Now that's an expert! 😊👍👍
Shaye's talent is jaw dropping. Can you imagine a time-machine and "The Duke" hearing her. Shaye at the Cotton Club! And these people just keep walking by?? Even Tupelo can't stop them.
The song is 'How Do They Do It That Way?' (sung by Erika when she is present). It is on their CD 'Garbage Man' and also on their CD 'Owl Call Blues'. It was composed by Victoria Spivey and R. Floyd; and recorded by Victoria Spivey in 1929.
Freaking hell. The fact that jazz is the penultimate musical genre….how the passing sirens were totally incorporated into the song. That was fucking genius.
This has a feeling of more than the usual improvisation/adaptation. Clarinet = siren, sure, but perhaps inspired by the #firetruck grins, a little bit more.
At 01.03-01.22 Shaye does the trombone-notes during the clarinet-solo ..... ..........because the trombonist is busy with the dog. "First Things First" .....:-)))))
This video offers an interesting look at Shaye's nature. She expects much of herself and encourages band members to do their best, yet she smiles when everything gets messed up.
Her name is Shaye Cohn and she plays cornet here. She also plays piano, fiddle, trombone, accordion, bass and various percussion instruments and she is also a fine singer. Her grandfather was the famous jazz saxophonist Al Cohn. Her father Joe Cohn is a jazz guitarist and her mother Yas Ishibashi is a fine piano player. Shaye came down to New Orleans from her hometown Boston a couple of years after Hurricane Katrina and begun to play piano with local musicians. She then found some old wind instruments and started to play cornet. In 2009 she and her friends started Tuba Skinny
Love my Tuba Skinny and pretty much the whole band seems quite fit and trim. Buttttt.....couldn't help noticing that the vast majority of the passersby could stand to lose 10-20-30 pounds......just sayin'.....

Nothin' stops these guys. And that's the way it should be! Loved the siren/clarinet duet!!!

When I heard the sirens, I thought, why did they post this instead of replaying it and getting a clean recording. And then ... Brilliant move, Ewan.
Super and Ewan played through and as a siren! They never stopped grinning.
Tot i les sirenes, the show must go on!! 👏👏👏

Tuba Skinny wins.

The only band in the world that can play TOGETHER with the POLICE! (02.30).
Cool reflections in your tuba. Could do it with led maybe, so you don't have to call the police everytime you need it
Where i could listen this type of music? I am not a expert
This is traditional jazz. Go to New Orleans.
O pessoal da banda me diz qual é o nome do doguinho?
And the people passing by without paying attention to this performance!
Yeah. How do they do that?
They were talking as passed by and completly ignored the music group!! Snort
Somebody Tell me me, please, what's the Nane of the trumpeter?

@@TheWsm0 thanks a lot, buddy, for having paid attention to a simple fan

I think that the siren solo was too damn long.
Cops are not always in time 😁
my favourite track is Deep Bayou Moan Alan Bennett
e umas múmias petrificadas passavam ao lado e ao largo, com ouvidos moucos e almas vazias.
