Grafting is now my new hobby. I put two different varieties in my apple tree, one different variety on my peach tree, and o other on my pear tree. Now I’m grafting avocado trees with success and recently I started with mango trees! That’s a lot of fun in it! 🥳🥳🥳
Your video has been very helpful and I am very grateful. Until the year before last, the living area after the my grafting was not enough and the success rate was about 60%, but as a result of using the elastomer etc. as seen from your video, thirty mango grafts succeeded more than 90%. The lowest temperature in my greenhouse is currently as low as 10 ° C, but I'm looking forward to try various grafts when the spring warms up.Thanks
I’m planning to put up mango plantation , I learnt a lot from your video, I’m waiting for you to show us the result of your grafting, was it successful, I’ve waiting for you to show us most of your works, good or bad so that we can avoid to do and wasting time.
Question: what happens to the rootstock when one of the lower grafts fails - like the side cleft graft or the veneer graft? Does it damage the rootstock tree such that you have to cut it below the failed graft area?
Hi there iv grafted a scion on a mango seedling i had two mango seedling and did two different graft on it one was veneer graft and the other one was clift graft. I did my graft on the 13 December 2017 the clift graft scion became brown but the venear graft is still green how long does it take for the graft to be successful i did the same on a lemon seedling aswel but the lemon graft is in a hydroponic karaky method i did a veneer graft on it and its still green just wondering how long will it take for it to be successful graft?
@@samarendranath9576 In India Jun/July/August during monsoon after the fruiting season. You will have plenty of rootstocks by then. Do prepare the proper scions in advance.
Thank you sharing your experience and knowledge. I am learning to graft. When I use paraffin tape, i see the tape became torn after a few days. Is it okay being torn after a few days? Do you recommend any better tape?
Just found this channel and find it fascinating. Do you guys sell seedlings to use for grafting? If not, how long did it take your seedlings to get to the point of being able to use for grafting purposes? Thanks for sharing your knowledge.
Great grafting video. Thank you. I would like to ask if its possible to graft mango onto a guava tree or stone fruit trees? I’ve been advise that it will not be successful unless its within the same family but see youtube videos of people grafting mangos onto guava or other fruit varieties not related to mango. I’m assuming that the videos are fake but still curious to know. Thank you.
Thank you. I'm surprised you shaved the bottom half of your scions so thin for your cleft grafts. I can see how a thin scion would create a smaller air pocket at the very bottom of the union and create a sleeker less bulky union, but don't you need enough mass (tissue) so the bottom half of your scions remain viable (alive)?
The very narrow point has always worked well for me. Early on I had several grafts fail, and a very experienced grafter told me that they failed because the point was not narrow enough.
Maybe that's why my grafts usually fail. Thank you for the quick reply. I'm top working two old mango trees so I can have several (hopefully 3 or 4) varieties on one tree.
How does one decide what gets grafted to what? Can I cut a branch from mango and insert it on a peach? Or a pine tree? What if one plant is drought tolerant and the scion not as much? If the graph is at the top then doesnt that make 2 varieties on one stock (original and the scion)? Rather when done at the base (dirt level) Go ahead say it " Cut your gizzards out". I live in Az, but travel to the East often. One of these trips Im going to come by your area. Tfs I will keep researching and watching your video's.
I NOW have bude or buddy tape, have used it once but did not realize that you should envelope tightly the scion BEFORE you join scion and root stalk. Stupid, right? Dang, Chris, you make the VERY difficult seem VERY easy!!!!! When you were squeezing the scion and rootstock with one hand and releasing a buddy tape section from those tight buddy roles with the OTHER, I mean YIKES!!! I am the world's worst grafter.

Very educative video especially on the choice of scions you have made it so clear that i am now confident on choosing the right scion
I have learnt so much from your tutorials.Did my first veneer graft several months ago with success.Thank you.
You make it look easy... Many thanks!

Hi i new to grafting and could we used normal tapes and how long should we removed the tape after doing the grafting? Thanks
Tapes with adhesive aren't a good choice, but you can use grafting tape, nursery tape, etc.
Love the video! Where do you get the buddy tape and the elastics? I think they are not easy to find.

Sometimes grafts can start growing in a week. In other circumstances, grafts can take as long as six months to start growing.
Thank you for your video. Question: With or without grafting, what is the big difference between both cases?
Where will I find crafting for my seedlings
Wow (: thanks for showing us Chris !I feel like I might be able to do this now 😬

Can u graft half of the tree and leave half of the original so that u can get 2 different tasting frujts
I think the shape of the perfect V is very important, the better smoother the surface , the greater the success rate..
