We had the good fortune of meeting and listening to dr Richard Cambell. He is really the Mr Mango. A lifetime of experience in creating varieties and making bushes. Very productive.
Thank you, Pete!! I always enjoy the wisdom and knowledge Dr. Campbell and Ian put out. It reminds me of the apple growers in Aomori, Japan that I used to visit and watch them as they tended the groves. Most of the trees were just at my head level (5-6 feet) and packed close together. They tipped and removed the limbs, also. Some of the groves would go for volume, and others would thin the blossoms to produce the Gem Quality fruit. I am using Dr. Campbell's techniques on my mango trees. Production was so much last season, I had to make a structure to support the limbs so the fruit wouldn't touch the ground. Thank you again!
My father also wore a dashiki, my friend. The pictures are quite famous. The cap, the cigar. Thank you! May the blessings of God be upon the fruits of thy garden! A happy dog, well tended in the beautiful sun will bark! That is in the nature of a dog! It needs no excusing. My appreciation is for everything that you carefully tend. For those with eyes to see, ripeness screams beauty, such as the dog!
I like their natural approach to growing their mango trees.. That's what is all about, we don't need those harmful chemical to grow our foods and even to us humans and animals.. Nature will do its work! 😊
@@PeteKanarisGreenDreamsFL yes yes for sure when Dr. Campbell speaks I listen... also I got to tell you your videos are gold..I live in South Florida homestead Redlands area hopefully by the end of this year we'll have our nursery set up for gardens and vegetables for consumption and for the local farmers market there's always something in your videos that I can turn around implement for myself thank you so much for the excellent content always
I am in Southern California and I have two mango trees ...I used to have three of them but I made the mistake of giving one to somebody who really didn’t care for it ...so it died...as far as my trees I started them from seed and to my surprise they started producing fruit after about 6 years not only that but the mangoes that I got from my trees are almost as good if not identical as the ones that I used as seed...they weigh 32 oz. and they are sweet...they came from Mexico and I don’t know the variety....
Hello Pete, Thanks for covering the top work of a NDM into Venus cultivar. If you do another video at Dr. Campbell's grove in future, please update that bark grafting. I'm curious to see what really happened to those Venus Scions.
I have a seed grown mango plant about 7ft height. I'm planning to graft on one of it's branch and keep the other one to grow and produce, so I could have two varieties on one plant. Is there any technique I should follow to get the growth to the grafted branch. Since I am keeping the other branch will the whole growth go that way and keep the graft inactive. Let me know if there is any vedios or articles on this case. Thankyou for your help and support on grafting technique. Have a great time ahead.
Great video! In SE Florida when would you say is the latest you would tip mangos so they have time to recover for blooming season? End of September? They still have October for one more flush?
So awesome to see that you dont use any commercial fertilizers... I'm in citrus county and i've been dreaming of learning more grafting techniques and sub-tropic forestry...do ya'll need extra hands?
Great quality video Pete, good to see another video with Dr Campbell along with Ian Cambell this time, thanking them both for giving up their time to educate us all on youtube. Explaining how and where to make incisions for your budwood is key for many people learning or wanting to turn an unproductive Mango tree into a tree that will at some stage be producing. Good to see that there are people in the world like Pete Kanaris and the Campbell family that are trying to educate and also save some of the lesser known varieties of Mango from extinction.
Awesome informative video, really appreciated. Thank you! Because of my inexperience, I overwatered my avocado tree and it died ( or so I thought) from root rot. Months after I stopped watering it I realized that it was actually alive and had started growing up from the very bottom, since the rest of the tree (graft included) is dried. The new branch is about a foot below the grafting. Do I need to graft it again? Thank you!
Great video! I'm impressed and I'm from the Caribbean which has an exceptional climate for growing these plants. Unfortunately, I haven't seen or eaten half of what you just featured. I am now inspired to track down these seeds. Thank you!
Very helpful. What is Dr. Campbell's mango tree feeding program? Compost from which source materials - fruit, vegitative, root materials? Any other soil amendments like minerals? We would rather rely on compost (& natural ground cover doing its thing). What are the Campbells, and others, doing? Also, when did Nam Doc Mai stop producing? The cultivar used to be highly recommended in Florida. We had fruit three years ago but 2 years without fruit now, and thinking about topworking.
When was this video / top-working done? Believe Dr Campbell said the best time for grafting is mid-summer, or anytime when night time temps above 70. In FL right now, February... night temps well below 70.
I'm headin' to the yard right now with my trimmers...Irma was the best thing that happened to my mango, it took out the top, I now have babies again...you can never have enough good mango, awesome info...love his shirt BTW...

Hey, will this Pruning & Tipping all through the year work for a 20-25 year trees also, which are 12-15 feet high? Can we reduce it to 7-8 feet as mentioned by Dr. Campbell? Thanks.
