Yes! I had forgotten about them until a cashier asked if I wanted a raincheck on an item.

Thanks for all the great tips! I'm in Toronto Canada and I'm also feeling the pinch in our grocery budget. I'm way more conscious this year than last year when I grocery shop. Some weeks just means we'll have more ground meats than chops and cuts because ground meats are cheaper

I’m thankful that my husband is happy with chicken and ground meats bc that’s basically what we have most weeks! 😂 Thank you for watching and I’m glad you got something out of the video. ☺️

I “meal plan-ish” lol 🤣 What I mean is: I have different categories & list everything I have or can make with the items I have on hand (or maybe missing 1-2 ingredients & have those missing ingredients in my grocery list. I also keep a running grocery list so that if we are out of an item that we use for just 1-2 meals, I wait until I find a good sale on those items before I stock up BECAUSE I know that I’ll use those items but they’re not a “needed RIGHT NOW item” so I have some leeway time. My categories for my meal plan (that I also put up on the fridge - on a magnetic white board or clipped to the fridge or even on a piece of paper using washi tape 😂) are: “easy meals,” quick meals,” “other ideas,” “sides,” “snacks,” “picnic,” “LEFTOVERS,” “Groceries Needed,” and an area that tells me all the preps I need to do for the meals, snacks, etc for all of the foods we will be eating & then cross them off as they have been done. & TAKE A PHOTO of that to keep on your phone so you can quickly get that info while at the store, etc. That way, depending on time constraints, or my energy levels, etc, I can figure out quickly of what we will be eating either for lunch or snack or dinner ~ especially as we homeschool & eating at home isn’t a big deal but sometimes trying to figure out what to do as a picnic at a homeschooling event can literally feel like it’s breaking my brain.😂 I also use a different piece of paper to quickly inventory all the perishable food that needs to be eaten quickly (countertops, pantry, fridge, Anything you’ve received for free, etc) Which also helps in my meal planning.
Also another good tip is to forage food in your area (there’s several apps that will help you identify foraging food in your area) like pecans, mint, fruits, etc… AND any free food you are given & add that into your repertoire of food to use up. Think potlucks, church dinner leftovers, neighbor had too many zucchini’s & gave you a bunch, etc. The more you look for “free food” the more random places it will show up!!!
