I'm 920 pages in, nearly to the gospel, but now I have doubts as to whether my bible is heretical or not while I was raised as a Christian, I am no expert and just came back to my faith nearly a year ago if anyone could provide an answer I would be grateful.

My old church used to use the passion translation regularly…but they also allowed the executive preachers wife to call herself a co executive preacher, elders in the church would call themselves apostles and declare healing, regularly would give vague or just plain wrong prophecy..my last day the head of the church said he had a “golden calf” for the church as a way to ask for extra donations for new building, then his wife got up and preached about how she felt that God didn’t love her because they didn’t get the 2nd house that she had her eye on to turn into an Airbnb. This was before Christmas. When people are struggling. When you’re supposed to preach about the birth of our Lord and this is during those Advent sermons-I think she tried to tie it into joy and how it feels like sometimes we don’t have joy. Because we didn’t put the best offer up on that second house. You know, relatable stuff.

I’m Messianic Jewish & our congregation mostly uses the Complete Jewish Bible Version, which the translator translated from the Hebrew of the Masoretic text (Old Testament) & Greek (New Testament). It’s purported to be the most accurate of any of the English translations/versions, although it’s not perfect. It’s not easy for some to read since it has a lot of the names of people & locations in Hebrew (& occasionally Yiddish), but for those of us who like “deep-dive” study, it’s precious. Through our rabbi’s deep studying, he has learned & shared with us many mistranslations in the KJV; but he studies comparing quite a few of the better translations (including, occasionally, the KJV), as well as, Hebrew & Greek.

I highly encourage you to do some research, and find out who was behind the translations. I now stay away from any other than the King James, due to the people who stand to gain from these "new" translations. You can purchase them, sit them side-by-side, you'll see that often entire verses are missing from these so-called modern translations. I didn't believe this until I saw it with my own eyes. The Scofield study Bible is also excellent, as it includes references within that you would otherwise be looking for separately when studying, and it saves time as you can learn the cultural and historical references at the same time.

What's interesting to me is that we are getting these heretical versions of the Holy Bible the exact same way that Mohamed got his 'revelation' in his time. 'Gabriel' spoke to him and convinced him the Holy Bible wasn't accurate and got him to make a completely different book full of lies. It's also interesting that the Bible not only warned us about these exact scenarios, but also flat out predicts them the exact way they happen. (2 Corinthians 11:14 & Galatians 1:8) There are clearly corelations between all of these events.

I guess it depends on the mother tongue one has, there are many languages where objects are gendered. So for example in English it is the table, the wall, the telephone, whereas in German we use „der/ die/ das“ (he/ she/ it) for people and objects. So in German table is male (der Tisch), wall is female (die Wand) and telephone is it (das Telefon). Don’t ask me why. 😅

I'm guilty of the "God told me to fix this thing in the bible". It had to do with a passage in Luke where Jesus enters Jerusalem. The palm leaves and garments it said were being spread on the ground for Jesus and his donkey to walk on, but culturally they took their garments (prayer shawls) and took branches and spread out a CANOPY above him. In Hebrew culture, the Torah (Scriptures) were not allowed outside the temple or synagogue uncovered. The scripture was telling us her that Jesus IS THE LIVING WORD OF GOD, and the Word of God by Jewish culture is not to be paraded outside unless it has a cover and that these people shouting HOSANNAH recognized this. In the Luke I was reading it said they spread the branches and garments on the ground like a carpet, but if I recall correctly, I fact-checked that by using Hebrew Brit Hadasah and the original KJV and neither mentioned anything about placing these on the ground at all, only that they were placed "before" Him. I was a little miffed about this for a while. (Ah I remember why, its because it was my copy of "Complete Jewish Bible" and I was baffled how they could even think to get this wrong. I wanted to write the editor, but thought... the same thing, "Why would out of a million people and a long list of theologians and scribes after all these years be the random joe that figured this out?"
I'm only speaking to historical and geographical CONTEXT here. Please don't get me wrong, I'm not saying go become Jewish or become a Messianic Jew or something. It's clear in the bible Jesus did NOT agree with the Rabbis when it came to any rabbinical oral tradition or Talmudical practices. We can see this by reading all the accounts in the Bible where He got into scuffles with the Pharisees and rebuked them for elevating their traditions and oral law above the written Scriptures from God. These were basically the Orthodox or Hassidic of the day, who are descended from Hillel the Elder and/or Gamaliel whom taught the flavor that was learned Saul of Tarshih, before he became known as the Apostle Paul.

There are thousands of partial Greek manuscripts of the New Testament and some of them differs slightly in other words some have particular verses in them and some don't so it's a matter of opinion as to whether they were in the original. The two big examples are in John chapter 8 and the end of Mark 16. Honest scholars note that some manuscripts contain those sections and some don't. It's not a conspiracy to take verses out of the Bible by modern translators. Some people often compare the modern versions to the most well-known English version the KJV and come to the conclusion that it's been altered but that's a mistake because you are comparing one English translation with another English translation whereas you should be trying to get as close to the original Hebrew and Greek as possible.

Maybe it's good I'd never heard this until this video!! Fascinating, I always love a good translation breakdown. Not at all surprised people who worship crystals are trying to find a way to make the Bible not the Bible at all.

We already have the perfect word of God and anyone that says they must correct it is going against what is written already. 2 Timothy 3:16, to name one of many scriptures warning against changing the word of God or affirming the Word.

Changing the Word is what ultimately led Eve to sin. Eve added onto God’s Word when talking to the serpent, so he was able to deceive her (that’s what I think anyways, but it seems weird she added on to God’s words)
