Thanks for this clear and complete instruction on how to replace the rear brakes, with good lighting and good camera angles so we could clearly see the work. This is me next week, on my 2005 4Runner.
Love this guy. Clear, simple language, good lighting. Great explanation and tips. Torques. Socket sizes.
75 brackets
65 calipers
83 lug nuts
Best instructional vid on rear brakes for the 4runner so far. Thanks for showing the way, I'll be working on mine today.
+gright2009 Thanks for the feedback! 1aau.to/m/Shop-TRQ
Great video! Couldn't have been clearer. Thanks for putting this out for all of us newbies!
Very helpful video! You need to disengage the emergency brake to get the rotors off. That should be noted as well.
Also, be VERY careful of the rubber boot on the slider bolts. If that pops off.. you probably won't be able to get it back in. I spent 30 minutes trying and couldn't get it in. Went and bought the whole dang assembly to get a new bracket with the rubber boot/bushings.
Really good video. Pretty straightforward I like that included the torque specs and the size of the socket. Because that's exactly what I was after this is going to be my first time working on my Toyota
+Thomas Anderson Thanks for watching our video! 1aau.to/m/Shop-TRQ
The Bob Ross of Toyota walk- throughs; thanks, I have it from here.
Nice Video !
And thanks for not having any annoying music with it .
Wow ,I love the fact that you even give us the torque specifications
good info, good angles and effects.
Glad I stopped to watch this because I am now in the process of doing this same job myself using TRQ rotors and pads I just purchased. I am doing it myself to save a lot of money and to do it right. I very much doubt that any local mechanic would perform all the rust cleaning, caliper greasing and setting the correct torque on the bolts like you showed. Thank you very much for sharing your expertise.
Great video. Made things so much easier than I expected. Appreciate you putting this together
On of the best videos. The guy is right to the point no stupid jokes or fluff
Thanks for the vid. I had to do one today and replace a caliper. The pad was folded up like Tin. The slide tabs were gone too so the caliper was the pad
Would be nice for someone to show how to take off the rear rotor if the star screw thing has to be dialed back. Can’t find any internet videos on that and its the single most frustrating part about changing my rear brakes on my 07 4Runner
+Jeremy Garnett We're always cycling through common cars. We'll add this repair to our list! 1aau.to/m/Shop-TRQ
About to attempt this step as well, not in the video
Best mechanic on UA-cam!
+codeeLS6 Thanks for the feedback, we are glad to hear you're enjoying our videos! 1aau.to/m/Shop-TRQ
"give a little shake to pull rotor off" … me.... beats the everlovin' crap out of rotor and is still stuck....
Can use 2 bolts that thread through front of rotor body as jack-screws to push the rotor off. This helps a lot and saves from having to bang so hard from opposite side. Usually rotor is getting restriction from emergency brake shoes.
Or release your emergency brake...😩🤦🏼♂️😩🤦🏼♂️😩🤦🏼♂️😩🤦🏼♂️😆🤦🏼♂️😆🤦🏼♂️
@@Funwithhighnotes Thank you lol 🤣🤣🤣🤣 I feel so silly, I was beating it so much and it even had a little "give" to it, makes sense
I heat the rotors with a blow torch, then give them a good whack with a mallet.
Awesome video thank you 🙏
great vid.. on my 05 4 runner v8, is it normal to hear the abs pump to activate in key position 2 when you press the brake every time??? thanks
Question: Do we needs to pump brakes for front brake and rotor replacement or is it only for rears
Very well done and easy to see everything you need to do the work. It made the job easy. How come my 4runner is so crusty underneath and that one looks so solid?
East coast 4Runner? This one is probably from the west.
Love this presenter, and TRQ has been a great brand so far. Only feedback is reduce the volume of the impact, really jarring vs the level of his instruction
I didn't see you install the wear indicator on the pads - is there any particular reason you didn't, or did I not see it?
A Real Mechanic! Great job
+@holinessorhell238 Thanks for watching our video! 1aau.to/m/Shop-TRQ
Well done, will attempt this job shortly
Changing your own brake pads by a pro. Step by step. Thanks
Hey uh, make sure the E brake is disengaged before you try to take the rotors off
Great video & lighting .
whats the name of the attachment that cleans up the rust with the air gun disk of some sort but is it something like quarter inch attachment grinding wheel? lol
Awesome video, first time I’m doing this and I got it. Thanks
For sure.. all business and nice and clear about what you are doing. 👍🏼
Outstanding video. I assume the other pads are for the parking break and never wear out.
This video is very helpful 👌 thanks for making this video the guy who explains very nice.
+nayab noba Thanks for watching our video! 1aau.to/m/Shop-TRQ
Great video. Do you have to turn the key to Accessory (2) in able to do the brakes, especially when pushing the pistons back ?
I mention of the ebrake!
This is great, thanks!
When you have all the tools easy and smooth
Best video explain to the point 🌟🌟🌟
I appreciate the video but it would have helped to mention you need to tension the parking brake before removing the rotor. Just broke by parking brake assembly trying to take off the rotor while it was still attached because i thought it was only held on by the calipers
That's a bummer. That's why I usually try to watch a few videos on the same topic because there's always information left out in some of them.
Tension the parking brake? I didn't have my parking brake on for my rear brakes and I didn't break anything.
nice! doing this shit tonight!!!! will have this on my phone the whole time LOL! well done!
+grappler41 Thanks for watching our video! 1aau.to/m/Shop-TRQ
You can use antisieze if you don't have caliber grease right....
Great video! Straight to the business!
Fantastic video and explanation. Much Thanks!!!
Any idea where I could find the rubber boots? Also, are the mounting bolts for the front/rear calipers the same?
Are you supposed to put grease on the ends of the pads where they will slide on the clips?
I grease the clips the brakes slide on and both tips of the pads.
Do you have to take the cap off the brake fluid before pumping the brakes because I couldn’t get my brakes to work
is there a need to adjust the parking brake on the inside when you install a new rotor?
+Francis Piquero Thanks for watching! No you should not have to make adjustments if you are following the repair procedure shown in the video.
Ok, here's the problem. My 2005 apparently has these clips that stop pad chatter. I don't see them anywhere in this video, and did not see them on my brakes - - - until after I had put everything back together and they were laying there on the bench. There were brand new ones that came with my NAPA brake pads, but I just thought it was for a different application. What is the scoop? Do I have to break the whole thing down again just to put these clips in?
You sure they weren’t for the front? This video was rear.
What kind of spray do you use to clean the boots out with?
I wonder how many brake shops actually do all this extras in this video, rather than just remove and replace.
Thank you 🙏
Thanks!! Great video.
I really wish you'd shown how to swap out the shoes, too.
What's the point of putting grease between the caliper bracket and the tin clips? They don't move....
That's weird. My 2004 4runner limited bolts tighten upwards while you are torqueing them downwards.
Great video..brakes work great but now our emergency brake does not hold the vehicle in place
‘Just curious... Do you ever wear mask sometimes? 😅 Awesome vid for my 4Runner. Thanks!
When is necessary 😀
i came here cause i thought i was missing some fastener keeping the rotor on lol
great video, however... do we just pretend that we didnt see the drum breaks inside the rotor... i was hopping for an explanation on how to service the drum because mine look rough to say nicely lol
GOT IT
+Airstream Diary Thanks for watching our video! 1aau.to/m/Shop-TRQ
Adam Calhoun?
You have to use 12mm head bolts to screw into the rotors to push the out. Wasted a lot of time not knowing this
Idk about the grinder for the bracket but F it. Not my car………
your "tins" = abutment clips
