I remember talking to the then CEO of Motown Records the late Jheryl Busby (11/04/2008) - wow 11 years ago this week (11/13/2019) that Take Me Higher was Diana Ross premiere album and that Motown was not promoting her album as they should. I was telling him this as he walked into the newsstand buying 'Hits Magazine' with Diana Ross on the cover. I told him how important 'Take Me Higher and "I Will Will Survive" meant to me and the LGBTQ community, and that we were upset that "I Will Survive" wasn't on MTV or VH1. I said it didn't make sense that another artist by the name of Diana Savage had her version of the same song out and it was getting better coverage than Diana's version at the time. I said did he or Motown not believe the album "Take Me Higher." I also told him that how can he have let Boys2Men doing a duet with Gladys Knight and the group not it with Diana Ross, I also reminded him that Motown always used to team their artist together. Diana Ross was just off her hugely successful Half Time Show at Super Bowl XXX (1996) with a recorded breaking 53 percent rating, and it seemed to me that she was working harder promoting her music than Motown. He just said how great she was and that he loved the album. It was a random meeting but I had him in front of me and I gave him a mouth full of complaints. All ends well though "Take Me Higher" went on to become a #1 Dance Club hit and "I Will Survive" became a Top 20 hit around the world and Diana Ross still performs these two giants of a song in concerts.
The Supremes had 12 #1 hits from the summer of 64 - Dec 69 some were hitting # 1 each month and Far as entire albums 5 from 64-68 Diana as solo had 11 from 70-95 # 1 albums she had 5 if you don't know now you know!!!!

It's interesting how it goes from diva to diva... in Lady Sings The Blues, Diana Ross plays one her influences, Billie Holiday, in the movie Diana recreates Billie not fearing the Ku Klux Klan, and then in the early 90's RuPaul had a run in with the KKK and didn't back down as well, like *Ru's* inspiration did in the movie!

I was there during the taping of her video in West Hollywood, January 1996. This was one for the books. Diana really looked beautiful up close.
