Twitching doll is an early game bomb. Drop turn 2, can put 3 counters by turn 5, blow up at turn 6 for 3 2/2s with reach. All for 2 mana investment that produces the mana back for you
One thing to note here, which is also relevant for the blue creature that gets posession counters: it counts *any* counters, so if you get keyword counters, +1/+1 counters and stuff, it can go absolutely hog wild.
It's not going to happen often, but there's going to be the occasional game where someone uses Monstrous Emergance with Delerium active and The Rollercrusher Ride + Screaming Nemisis in play. At minimum, that's 12 damage + no healing for the rest of the game to their opponent. It can easily be over 20 given the right cards in hand/on the battlefield.
Another thing to note about patchwork beastie is that it is also an artifact creature, so even in the graveyard it helps you with delirium. Very cool uncommon.
Storywise i still cant get over the fact that almost all of the Story happened, the party risked their lives and the nezumi companions of nashi died only for him to have one short moment and then accept that tamio already died. I would feel so bad in nashis place.
The thing I like about Overlord of the Hauntwoods is that it's a card that, on it's own, can get Domain back to a top deck in standard. Casting it for the impending cost means you can Leyline Binding the turn it comes down and give you domain for the rest of the game.
I was confused by his wording at first, too, but I think he was just saying that the primary effect (naturalize) puts the enchantment or artifact into the library instead of graveyard. That helps not give an opponent delirium.
Flesh Burrower is designed to enable Survival creatures to survive. A lot of Survival is on under-powered, so opponents might prefer taking the hit rather than losing a creature.
Something about Kona, Rescue Beastie is that it doesn't actually get you a discount on rooms because if you cheat a room out, both sides are lock until you pay the mana to unlock them. Obviously never going to happen in Limited but could you imagine using Kona to drop Valgavoth on the board?
I think Moldering Gym / Weight Room kinda plays a bit like Field Trip fetching Elemental Summoning from the sideboard in Strixhaven, though the curve isn’t as smooth since it’s a 3 > 4 > 6 rather than 3 > 4 > 5 17:00 if I’m not mistaken on how the rulings for that work, there’s one way for the opponent to interact with Emergence to keep in mind, though it’s a bit circumstantial: if you chose a creature on the battlefield, they can respond by targeting that creature with a -X/-X effect (such as Nowhere to Run), potentially lowering or even zeroing said creature’s power and neutralizing the spell
Green is looking like the best color in this set imo. Manifest dread seems really good and green has the best ways to use it. It also has strong removal, monstrous emergence is great and the naturalize effects seem better than usual with all the artifact/enchantment creatures running around.
It’s funny. Omnivorous flytrap looks like a dangerous man eating flytrap but based on its name it’s just a flytrap that likes to eat fruits and veggies from time to time lol. Irl flytraps already eat meat. Insects mostly but lizards/frogs and maybe small rodents am an also be eaten by them. Giving them that name doesn’t make them any more dangerous.
A C for Kona? With all the ways you can tap without attacking and putting any (including lands) permanent is just a C? Hm… this one seems off to me, but I guess we’ll C.
Putting a land on the battlefield from your hand is unlikely to be relevant since by the time you have this online you're unlikely to have more lands in hand than you can play normally. Kona will very occasionally get you a bit of ramp or a discount on something big, but it will often be an overcosted 4/3.
@@JLan167 I don't think so. Maybe if finds a home in a commander deck, but I don't know that format much at all. In standard, it's even more-underpowered for a 4 drop and the upside doesn't really seem to have a home. It's hard enough to set up that cheating something into play with it better win you the game and I don't really see that happening.
Their actual faces are barely fleshed skulls. After the original beastie leader let a human see it and that person fled never to return, it's become a part of beastie culture to wear masks and never allow people to see their skulls.
Your grades are a joke. It's like you have no idea there's a grade between A and C. So many cards deserve a B and you just call them a.C and move on like somehow that's the "safe" grade to give it. A 1 CMC 1/2 creature that can kill a lot of creatures because there are a crapton of enchantment creatures, or it can just drop a land for you. Great utility for cheap. Gets a C. After I heard the 60th C I had to stop watching.
You should review what he means by the letters. He has stated that a B is a card you wouldn't feel bad about first picking and an A is a card that you would always first pick pack 1 and might even pick pack 2 or 3 even if it isn't in your colors. C means that you will feel fine about playing it, but won't pick it particularly high. A C+ you feel good about playing. D's you don't usually want to play but might if you are short on playable or have a particular synergy for that card. F's you never play. With that explanation, I think C is correct for the card you are describing. It's not a card you feel good about first picking, but you will usually play it. It's a chump blocker, an overcasted naturalize, or a ramp spell. None of those is great, but the modality means that is probably okay, especially in a format with lots of naturalize targets. I kind of agree that it would be more informative if he broke the C grade down more because such a large percentage of cards are going to fall between C- and C+, but what you pick in the middle of the pack often depends on what you have and what you still need for you deck balance and curve.
@@samuelrussell5760 He should give first pick bombs an S tier. Letting A and B cards be staples you want for the deck you are building. Enduring Vitality is great with Survival, cause you can tap the creatures and even don't use the mana to get the trigger

In Limited it's just slightly above average.

One thing about Monstrous Emergence is that it won't do deathtouch damage (right?) Still a good card though.
yea doesnt work with deathtouch cause the card does the damage not the creature
Enduring vitality also enables survival
I think you've misread Cathartic Parting - it can't target cards in your opponent's library to screw with Delirium. Still a nice piece of removal.

WOW, Green looks to be very strong once again, if not the best colour. I can't really complain though, it's my favourite colour.
Break Down the Door is a massive flavor fail for not adding an option to unlock a Room
The art on Omnivorous Flytrap seems to hearken back to Carnivorous Plant all the way in The Dark.
