Balin’s tomb is a good hit! And most of the cards like it. 13:44 if you notice under the card name at the top there’s another name “Ancient Tomb” that is the original version of that cards name. They have the same effect but the name was changed to reflect something related to LOTR. We all know wizards of the coast wouldn’t put the 1/1 card in a random box within the first few weeks. They plan on releasing it at least several weeks into the release, because if someone pulled it within two weeks people would stop buying so many.
Everyone keeps saying this but the druw Jones 1/1 superfractor was pulled in the time limit and paid out. By some random old dude driving to a baseball game with his family.
Fun fact in the movie when Gandalf is battling the Balrog he says “You shall not pass” but in the book it is actually “You cannot pass”. That’s why the card says you cannot pass instead of you shall not pass.
This set has held it's value insanly - The prices just keep going up and up over the last year, the playability of certain cards are insane! The Legnedary Lands and most of the Rares and Mythics go for 5+ dollar and some are way up there! The one ring is like 80$ now! It's crazy!
Even if non-holos, doesnt mean it’s not a rare+, sought after card. After the land slot in these collector packs were Rares and Mythics. If you look at bottom left of the card, youll see a C, U, R, or M for common, uncommon, rare, mythics. Rares and mythics have the symbols (this set being universes beyond is a triangle) foiled at bottom of card. The circler arts are the showcases art of the set. Also a lot of the extended art, borderless cards in this set, come together to make scenes from throughout LOTR. Hope this helps P.S. At 13:45 or so, you pulled a Balin’s Tomb aka Ancient Tomb (name of original card underneath Balin’s Tomb, a $64 card, with the surge foil being over $400 😅
I made the same rookie mistake. Pulled a Balin’s Tomb surge foil card and didn’t know what I had. I set it aside overnight and looked up what I had and was like… wow!
I love the fact that they kept the good number for the elven rings (3), dwarven rings (7) and human rings (9), but they multiplied it by 100 and 1000. Gotta love all the details in that set that match all the details of that universe
The party tree you pulled is actually an alternate art version in this set, of a VERY good artifact called The Great Henge. Your non foil was 60 bucks, foil would be crazy cool.
I’m really hoping it’s found by someone deciding to buy a single pack. That’s a lot more hype and it doesn’t break the wallet to do a one-pack-magic compared to these boxes…
I didn't even know this was happening but honestly this is such a cool way for MTG to do LOTR. I just hope that the one The One Ring isn't opened by someone who doesn't know and is left to be damaged in the bottom of some box or something, would be a shame
At the beginning of the fellowship of the ring; the ring was seemingly lost to time. Imagine the one ring sits in a sealed collection for the next 50 years. 😅
Pokemon needs to lean into this too. The mass demand should justify insanely rare cards. Doesn't have to be 1 of 1, but sharing the amount of printed cards with the public is a smart move. It gives collectors more insight into the availability and value of the cards instead of this guessing game that can be manipulated.
RIGHT!!!??? You think WotC will KILL it's golden goose in the first printing? Naw. They'll wait, make billions, and until they've drained players dry by buying all first print boxes then they'll put it out there so the search "ends." 🤡
That is my belief. In my opinion the way Hasbro has been transforming a game that is close to my heart into a cash grab, print into oblivion, foils aren’t premium anymore, worth pennies card game. As veteran of 10 years and going the 1 of 1 One Ring is a lie. It will never be opened because it doesn’t exist.
it is hard to believe; however there was a similar thing that happened in i want to say baseball cards recently (wasnt a 1mil bounty but still hefty prize) and some young kid in like illinois pulled. it can happen but the chance that a random person pulls it, much less knows its rarity is small.
Pokemon has better bulk resale value. It's not necessarily uncommon to get between $25-60 for 1000 Pokemon bulk depending where you sell. MTG bulk resale is hot garbage. Like $1-3 per 1000. It honestly makes a lot more sense to buy singles in MTG unless you want to deck build from a specific set. Going to drafts is fun for that.
I grew up playing Magic: the Gathering and still do to this day. My friend got me into collecting Pokemon cards a couple years ago, and that's when I found your channel. It's nice to see some crossover, even if it is just once. By the way, you did pass over some crazy pulls, but I'm sure you'll figure that out soon enough.
I’ve never really expected pokerev to open mtg but its the opening we need more of! I would be thrilled to see more magic the gathering products getting ripped on this channel!!
Honestly I would have like if you spent a little more time on some of those rare cards in the packs such as the "Frodo, Sauron's Bane" at 26:06 - especially considering the chances of pulling any of those super duper rare cards is are so low
Dont spend money on that, 40 dollars for one booster pack, 500+ for box, its insane how expensive it is. Even someone who is not into Magic will buy the stuff, and what will you do when next set is released and you do not have money because you spend all in search of one ring. Frankly 2 mil dollars sound nice (i would take a 6month vacation on bahamas if i get the ring buahahah) but lets get real, spend money on what you really want, money unfortunatly do not grow on trees for us mortals as for rich people does.
Really happy to see you dive into MTG! Been taking somewhat of a pause from your content when I focused more on MTG myself, so I hope to see more MTG videos in the future! (and ofc I'd love me some collector's boosters ^^)
the irony of how the ring captured the hearts and tainted the minds of all who held it, then for Rev to go crazy dying to find The One Ring 😂😂 love the irony
It's been dropping. I bet once official release comes tomorrow, everything will tank. One thing I hate about TCG is that you have to be a certified hobby shop to sell presale items. Regular people can't. They can get sold on ebay, but ebay isn't really quite as great of a platform imo as TCG player. I have a harder time selling there.
In terms of collecting, it yields more expensive cards if you manage to pull one where in this case the most expensive is 2 mil where in the newest Pokémon set the highest card is priced around $600 but with that MTG packs normally run more expensive and they have them split up for player who like to play and collectors. Such as collector packs that are around $15-$20 a pack
The game is fun. Collecting is not. It's ridiculously expensive. You lose a lot of money opening boxes. Especially collector boxes. It's rare to make any good returns on. You find more local places to play magic than anything else. But lately my husband and i have been finding players just being unbearable to play with. Super aggro. And a lot of times they smell bad. Fun to play with friends. I play standard and mtg arena just for fun. My husband plays commander only. And we open boxes for fun and sell about everything we pull on TCGplayer. And the people buying magic usually give us the most crap. I have an inventory of nearly 20k magic singles and they barely move. Imo it's not worth it. But it's up to you to decide. This set especially is not worth it and most collector booster sets aren't. As soon as you open the box you lose money. If you want to try playing and see if you like it and to learn standard play first try downloading and playing mtg arena. When I got through the color challenge event they have for new players they sent me a starter kit with two pre built decks and codes for those decks for mtg arena for free in the mail for completing the challenge. Free to download and play the game and you'll get some free physical cards if they are still doing the color challenge free decks thing.
@@N0311Y i wouldn't compare this set to anything magic has put out at all tbh. This set is way more expensive than other stuff they put out and you make nothing back trying to chase that one card. Even the other serial rings are dropping like rocks like everything else in the set. Even the previous sets like Phyrexia all will be one and March of the machines you weren't making any money opening boxes and you usually don't. Most cards only sell between 1-5 cents. Collecting this set likely wouldn't be too hard if someone wants to wait for it all to drop more. Most is under $20 for the standard set. Commander has more expensive cards you can find mostly in collector boxes but they still aren't worth opening for. And that's usually how it always is for anything magic. Especially lately. And with all the controversy magic prices are tanking. If you want to collect just because you like the art it's one thing. But if you expect to make any money in the future you just shouldn't do it. They reprint cards often. Especially when they end up being popular. There's no money in collecting unless you are planning to spend tens of thousands of dollars per vintage cards from beta or alpha. It just isn't a good idea. If you want to just learn and play the game buying a precon deck is the way to go because they're built better than other tcg games and it's cheaper. People take precon decks to tournaments all the time and place fairly high. I have a few myself. As someone who plays and sells magic i honestly would never recommend collecting or opening to sell. It isn't worth it like it used to be. There's no real value anymore. And that especially goes for this set. It was a cash grab for wizards. A really poorly thought out one. If you want to collect any magic cheaply this is probably the only set to do so with given all the people chasing that stupid ring are tanking the market. And it'll still run you well over $1-2k just to get all of the basic non-foil/normal copies of all of the cards. Even the maybe 150 cards i want out of the set would currently set me back almost $700 if I got all of them today. Mostly because a lot of the lands for the commander set are still sitting around $40. Even still the prices will likely not ever go back up for this set.
I’ve always wondered if pokemon would ever put serialized/number cards in sets. Also love these cards arts and the fact that this released just as I started reading The Hobbit
dude his not an overall mtg fan like you. like his name suggest his POKEREV not MTGREV his just in this because of the hype. so please forgive him. dont be mad its just for the community.
@@ronnelangeloandal bro im not angry after him i know he is not a mtg fan because im already subscribed to him. Its just a joke he can do that if he want idc
from someone who plays magic the gathering, its a fun card game BUT id advice learning it with the app magic arena. its a digital version of the physical cards and is played the same way as the physical cards
Rares are yellow logo stamps and and mythic rares are reddish orange stamps. You passed by at least 20 or 30 mythic cards that are worth way more than you think, also every card in the 4th slot were all commons in black and white stamps lol...
That first card you opened, the box topper, you were right. It's a borderless card. Alright, now for the not so tricky bit. The rarity of the card can always be known by looking at the set symbol itself. If the symbol is black, it's a common. If the set symbol is silver, it's an uncommon. If the set symbol is gold, it's a rare. And finally, if the set symbol is a fiery orange, that's a mythic rare. Rate on the booster pack itself, it tells you the chances of pulling a mythic rare, and it's quite low. So all I have to say before watching any further than the box topper, especially for pulling the "One Ring", good luck. You're going to need it. And not just for it. But for any of the others. P.S. MTG players get more in a pack because of what's known as a Booster Draft. A Booster Draft uses a pod of eight people to play and each player gets three packs each to open. One of the packs each player has is opened, choosing only one card from the pack, and then you pass that pack to the person either to the right or the left (i.e. it's been a minute since I've been to a Booster Draft, never much cared for them myself, but many people like them). After all the first packs have been depleted, the next pack is opened choosing one card as you did before, repeating the process until all the second packs have been depleted. And then the whole process is repeated one last time. And once all rounds of drafting have been completed, you use the cards you drafted, to build your deck to compete in the event. The TCG is meant to be played. But every so often WoTC comes out with special collector sets like this. And yes, MTG packs are a little harder to open, and with reason it's purposely done to help insure product security and product value kind of like to secure an egg from cracking in an egg drop contest. Grab the center flap and you should find a bit of a tab running all along it. Pull them apart at the center of the pack and it should open a bit easier for you. About what I expected you to open after many years of opening MTG booster packs since the early days myself. No more than one or two of the few chase cards, out of that many packs, and more than likely not any of the specific ones you were looking for. Such as the serial number rings as our example. You don't need a case of booster boxes, you need a factory crate of booster boxes and maybe even two or three factory crates to be completely honest from my own experience especially whenever WoTC releases a collector's set like this, if you hope to open just one of the serial number rings. As said, they are mythic rares on top of being completely limited in print number in this specific set, making them even more rare than usual and the chances of actually opening just one of them is astronomical. It makes the chase for any of the specific cards truly an epic journey. Imagine trying to complete this set. The chances of completing the set is 1 in 3.3 million chances lol. And finally, the One Ring, has been found.
Wow Rev you are my first ever subscription/comment on UA-cam ever!! I have watched from a far with my 8yr old twins but this segment spurred me to say thanks, as I was getting some pretty hardcore pressure from the kids to hurry up and get some magic packs. Lol. They were bummed you didn’t get a serial ring. We have only been Pokémon but this was cool to see and the cards were truly beautiful. Cheers!
I just bought one of the collector packs and some of the art is amazing. I am loving these alt arts and playing the LOTR MTG commander format has been so fun. The ring mechanic is so cool! You should diversify your card openings! There are so many different collectable cards that I would love to see you open!
I've never played MTG or know anything about it, but I am a massive LOTR fan, and just love Middle-Earth in general, so thought about buying cards, but now, noooopee. Still nice to see lOTR get some love!
This is insane! Since Hasbro acquired WoC, MTG has gone off the rails... Even making Nick mad insane, falling for this lunacy of ring cards hunt... gambling addiction and spending $500 for each collectors booster box is real cray cray! lol
The time for me to watch this video, one of my favorite LCS rose their price from 579.99 to 599.99 CDN. We all can see the price of these sealed Collector Box skyrocket as more and more boxes/packs are opened. I wonder who put that million dollar bounty of that single Ring card.
I mainly collect Magic the Gathering cards but collect Pokémon on the side. That is why I watch your openings for Pokémon. It's cool to see you do both!
can't believe the ring was already pulled and graded rip Also contrary to popular belief "you cannot pass" is actually accurate regarding the books, "you shall not pass" was added in the movie
Can say as a magic player was nice seeing him open some packs for sure. Still enjoy his original content but wouldn't mind him going for some more magic
If you open more, you should put the map together 😅 also, you should try to pull the 9 Nazgûl arts Edit: also in case you were wondering, the Nazgûls are worth like 12 dollars each

He dosjt even get the serialised version as that was pulled ages ago.
And there's no way that card is even worth 2 million
Those ring cards are quite nice. I don't know what would happen if Pokemon would do something like this.
Death and war
Magic the gathering is the OG. Thanks for the content
The concept of the 1/1 is quite insane. I wonder when it will get found
It wont be lol the creator will hold on to it an make money out of it.
Probably insider traded like McDonald's does with their lucky monopoly pieces
Sports cards do this quite often
Seeing him passing all these mythic rare is making me so mad😭😭😭
dude his not an overall mtg fan like you. like his name suggest his POKEREV not MTGREV his just in this because of the hype. so please forgive him. dont be mad its just for the community.
@@ronnelangeloandal bro im not angry after him i know he is not a mtg fan because im already subscribed to him. Its just a joke he can do that if he want idc
@@Gastro-enterite-en-imax hahaha sorry bro
Passes a box topper ozolith like it nothing then hits last March of the ents lol
I would love to see pokerevs reaction if he pulled the 1/1 ring. That would truly be monumental.
38:40 the spit on the card made me cryyyyy
I wonder how long it will take for someone to find the one ring 🤔
Probably a long time due to sealed collectors
Hope you get the rarest ring, pokerev!
red emblem of the set my dude, those are usually the big ones for rarity, in the middle on the right side. Plain < Silver < Gold < Red for rarity
As a Pokemon and magic the gathering fan this was a awesome video
from someone who plays magic the gathering, its a fun card game BUT id advice learning it with the app magic arena. its a digital version of the physical cards and is played the same way as the physical cards
Rares are yellow logo stamps and and mythic rares are reddish orange stamps. You passed by at least 20 or 30 mythic cards that are worth way more than you think, also every card in the 4th slot were all commons in black and white stamps lol...
Also you should sleeve all the rares and mythics until you get the total values
The hype for this set has been absolutely nuts.
Black set symbol - common
Silver - uncommon
Gold - Rare
Red - mythic rare
Thanks for switching it up! Never seen magic opened up before!
Fun fact, Post Malone now owns the 1-of-1 The One Ring card and paid 2 million for it.
2.6M
That wizards rocket ard is the charizard of the set ! 24:57
Are the booster boxes the only way to pull any of the serialized ring cards??
I've never played MTG or know anything about it, but I am a massive LOTR fan, and just love Middle-Earth in general, so thought about buying cards, but now, noooopee. Still nice to see lOTR get some love!
Regular people really out here going minus $300-$400 per box for a 0.00003% chance. 😂
What is the actual msrp on a collector booster box? I've looking around and i cant find any info.
To see everyone going crazy over Magic The Gathering cards is amazing
FYI the first box had 480$ in value
Now this is different content then pokerevs usual Pokémon card openings but it’s kinda nice to see pokrev to open up magic cards
Bro he is the one of one person in the world to get it that would be insane
Me and my dad love to play magic. We also like to collect the cards❤😊
The 1 of 1 ring card was pulled from a pack in Toronto and sold to Post Malone for $2 million
I mainly collect Magic the Gathering cards but collect Pokémon on the side. That is why I watch your openings for Pokémon. It's cool to see you do both!
can't believe the ring was already pulled and graded rip
Also contrary to popular belief "you cannot pass" is actually accurate regarding the books, "you shall not pass" was added in the movie
Should put all the shiny cards of the map together, would make a sick display
I would love to open those up with my brother

I think the Rarity is the Symbol on the Center Right. Black, Silver, Gold, Orange. I’m so used to Pokémon :P
I haven't played Magic the Gathering in a long time, so seeing 2 of my favorite franchises come together like this is cool to see.
Can say as a magic player was nice seeing him open some packs for sure. Still enjoy his original content but wouldn't mind him going for some more magic
If you open more, you should put the map together 😅
also, you should try to pull the 9 Nazgûl arts
Edit: also in case you were wondering, the Nazgûls are worth like 12 dollars each
Bro skipped over $50 hits and lot of those boxtoppers are like $200+
Havent had MTG since I was a kid but the LorR collab definetly caught my attention
Its crazy to thibk that with the state modern find itself today only the 2 orcish bowmasters and the one ring would be enough to totalize 400 grand.
Didn’t think I would see Rev opening Magic. Used to do a lot of Magic collecting and playing when I was younger.
I haven't opened these before... brilliant use of Lord of the Rings to get new fans!
Man i love magic the gathering. Been playing since the 90s
