They have achiote paste also known as annatto rubbed on their skin. It’s the reason why they called the Indians the red race. Personally it looks like they used red paint in the movie rather than annatto but anyways some amazon Indians have their whole body covered in that red paste and some are covered all black.

This movie was a total disappointment. I think the biggest problem with Eli Roth’s movies are the main characters deserve what they get. They’re just so unlikable.
Loved this movie. It’s like Roth watched all of the previous cannibal movies, added some twists and bumped it up a notch. BTW - some really funny gags in this review. The shakeweight was a total lol. Fun fact: the final girl is Roth’s former wife.

I liked this movie, I’m starting to enjoy Eli Roth movies. The 2 hostels are my favorite. I’ve noticed in his movies he has a style of showing the most gruesome death around the second act, then after that it’s basically turns into survival horror, the graphic horror tones down.
