Interesting. I come from a family that fixes everything so I enjoy seeing you fix this hose. I like these lighter hoses, wish they were sturdier. Good work!
I think I have no one ever seen that said their whole family fixes their stuff! I think its a valuable gift to people to see what can be repaired and how! I myself see all the wasted potential but have to give up myself when I see a fixable thing blow up in the size of the repair..
A better way to use the copper wire trick is to wrap it twice before twisting it. It provides a continuous loop without the little gap at the twist point.
Those hoses are Garbage probably the next time you use it , it will burst in another spot. Thanks for sharing Brian hope you guys have a great weekend 👍
This is what happened to me. I had a similar hose, it was wonderful, lightweight, maneuverable, great. A few months after getting it it pops like this, I fix it pretty much the same way. Then again a month later, then a week later, and then again. After a while, there was not enough usable hose. Seeing how the rubber wore and became brittle I think it was a cheap material and UV affected it and the sleeve was not providing much protection because it was a light translucent green thing. If I get one again I would try not to keep it outside, maybe hang it up in the garage or a porch. But that might be too much hassle.
Thank you so much for posting this!!! I decided to give it a try and it worked 😊. The biggest problem I had was getting that aluminum sleeve off. I don’t have a dremel so it took me a while getting it off. I almost gave up due to this issue. I finally decided to use a steel file I had. It took some manual labor but it finally worked. Almost threw the hose away. Thank you.
Who would want that junk anyway? A true rubber hose is the only way to go. They are repairable and they will last a lifetime if taken care of. Unless you had rather keep buying hoses over and over s
We use these hoses for washing down machines with coolant in our machine shop. We moved buildings and tried to use it on a water spigot. Turned out to be a high pressure line and literally exploded the hose
The stainless-steel hoses have a nearly identical internal construction, and I made the identical fix, including twisting a wire just above the barb. In my case, I had to shorten the hose by 3', but, two years later, it is still in use.
I've had mine over 4 years. I bought another one has a backup. It's still wrapped up in the plastic container it came in...NE Ohio... If you know how to use things properly and take care of them properly, they will last
I wouldn't want to rely on that to visit the Titanic, but it looks like a solid fix. I say that hose would get another hole in it before the repair job fails.
I can’t tell you how many times I’ve fixed these types of hoses… I’m on farm water pressure and if they are blocked it doesn’t take long for another hole to pop up but if I buy the long ones I can keep on fixing untill they are too short then I get a new one.
I worked in a factory where they used bailing wire to do that on their oxy acetylene hoses. I was totally surprised but it worked. Probably better than a hose clamp but OSHA would have a cow. Technology from south of the border.
Awesome - now do the hose bib that leaks from the metal to which the handle attaches. Don't tell me to tighten the nut, it's leaking on the inside of the nut.
I used single strand copper wire to attach my dishwasher drain to my garbage disposal. Worked perfectly. Hose clamps weren't cutting it. Its been solid for 8 months no prob. Nice vid. Cool Shit. I say its fixed as long as it doesn't get beat up too often.
I repaired one similarly, but used a hose clamps. The hose was so old it broke in another spot after the first use and with how long it took me to fix it the first time I said I wasn't doing that again and bought a new one.
They don't last more than a year if you constantly keep it under preassure, but if you shut the water off and let it drain out before storing, it can last a good while. I've personally noticed they are more prone to punctures, but that's anecdotal
I had an expandable hose blow up on me last summer. Went to home Depot and got a heavy duty hose. I will never allow these garbage as seen on TV products in my house again.
I use the same kind of hose but I get it from the automotive section because all the fittings are steel maybe I don't know what kind of metal they are but they're not plastic
American hoses are so weird. Search up Australian hose fittings, if we have a leak in the middle, we have hose joiners, and if the end gets damaged, you can cut it and just screw the connector back on. Also they're quick connect so you don't need to screw it onto a tap
This hose will have a new hole before you know it. Planned obcellecence They are deaigned for only a short lifespan then replacent. Likely holes elsewhere in it already
Flexible hoses are awful, I've had 2 and both spring random leaks by just existing it seems like. Hardly used em but sure enough went outside 1 day to see 1 of them leaking, then a few weeks later my 2nd one did too.
It’s a real shame that hose clamps aren’t 99 cents lmao. Also most people call a “number 10 metric” 10 millimeter. You’ll get it soon buddy, keep trying.
Bro you prob paid $12 for that hose at Walmart! Throw that garbage hose out & go spend a little cash on a great hose that you’ll get your moneys worth out of! Great fix btw!
Interesting. I come from a family that fixes everything so I enjoy seeing you fix this hose. I like these lighter hoses, wish they were sturdier. Good work!
I feel the same way. Thank you.

Hose clamp would be better
"Nature's lubricant" had my mind wander every disgusting possibility 😅
😂 spit!
@@ThatFixItGuy That, sir. Was _not_ one I considered. 💀
Yeah I i was like "wait, what?"
@@jordank5975bruh…
I knew what he meant immediately. Sometimes it's necessary when a fitting is hard to push in a tube. 😅
It will definitely last until it leaks again! Great job.

Those hoses are Garbage probably the next time you use it , it will burst in another spot. Thanks for sharing Brian hope you guys have a great weekend 👍
Yeah I suspect your right Britt. People kept telling me I should fix it so I had to try. Wondering how long it will last.

Idk I’ve had mine that I got from Walmart for 3 years, so far so good
I was struggling to understand how to fix this, glad i found your video

Awesome….you just saved me $30 @ HD on a new one!!! Worked like a charm…..thanks
The internal hose looks very soft, almost like it's made of foam. I think any clamp will need to be cushioned, so as not to cut into the material.
the other thing that solves this issue is don't leave these hoses pressurized when not in use. Turn off the water and release the pressure!
Just threw 2 away 2 that broke. But they were catastrophic failures like total blowouts. I really hate that i replaced them with a normal hose again.😂
Who would want that junk anyway? A true rubber hose is the only way to go. They are repairable and they will last a lifetime if taken care of. Unless you had rather keep buying hoses over and over s
@@Nothingmore71the up that these have is that they are light and for some people that matters, especially when it comes to elderly or injured people
I've had temporary fixes last for years
Happiest Dad on the street here. Neighbor Jim went inside to drink alone in shame.
Fixed? Maybe. Mended? Absolutely. Some fine ingenuity.
I repaired a few similar to that, didnt hold more than 6 months. Two months longer than factory.
THANK YOU!!!!🎉🎉🎉😂 I LOVE these hoses
I was genuinely surprised when you pulled out the wire. I thought you had some kind of electric danger hose. 😂
Me too🤣

🎉🎉 nice work! I had to send mine back for replacement.
I've had mine over 4 years. I bought another one has a backup. It's still wrapped up in the plastic container it came in...NE Ohio... If you know how to use things properly and take care of them properly, they will last
Great fix those houses are great but they never last long
GREAT VIDEO!!!

I was always afraid to buy that type of hose, thinking there was no way to repair it.
Maybe I'll look into them now!
isnt a number ten metric allen a 10mm allen?
Yay!! More Repair = Less Replace
Solid repair 👏
If you want amazing hose go get the 1/2 rubber Air hose from harbor freight and put water hose ends on it. Its really great quality stuff.
I think cats and dogs are the reason for mysterious leaks😉 . Good job on your engineering 👍
I worked in a factory where they used bailing wire to do that on their oxy acetylene hoses. I was totally surprised but it worked. Probably better than a hose clamp but OSHA would have a cow. Technology from south of the border.
omg I have THIS PROBLEM EXACTLY
Awesome - now do the hose bib that leaks from the metal to which the handle attaches. Don't tell me to tighten the nut, it's leaking on the inside of the nut.
Bro has saved tens of dollars in his life
Those expandable hoses can blow up super easy if there is to much water pressure the first time I seen it happen it sounded like a gun shot.
I would probably use a different method to clamp the barb myself, but this hack is smart and an easy fix 👍
There is this nice thing that screws on to hold barb fittings... I think it's called... a hose clamp...
I used single strand copper wire to attach my dishwasher drain to my garbage disposal. Worked perfectly. Hose clamps weren't cutting it. Its been solid for 8 months no prob. Nice vid. Cool Shit. I say its fixed as long as it doesn't get beat up too often.
Nice repair. Factory fresh.
I have 2 of those, gott’em at the Home Dump. I return them at least once a year after they explode 😁
Hose clamps where invented in 1921
People before 1921:
100' black heavy duty rubber hose from craftsman 20 years and counting.
I repaired one similarly, but used a hose clamps. The hose was so old it broke in another spot after the first use and with how long it took me to fix it the first time I said I wasn't doing that again and bought a new one.
Awesome repair imo. Looks legit and sturdy. Job well done.
Nature’s lubricant
Never had a hose like that , how long do they last ? Good job that repair should last a good long time.
They don't last more than a year if you constantly keep it under preassure, but if you shut the water off and let it drain out before storing, it can last a good while. I've personally noticed they are more prone to punctures, but that's anecdotal
These expanding hose always bust. Fix it and it'll bust somewhere else soon 😂.
Done so many of those fixes. I now just replace the entire hose
No.10 metric nearly gave me an aneurism
Mine popped in the middle. Atleast now I know I can did it out and pop it t back together with a coupling
id say around the time it took to go bad 1st time just know its ruggedness it can handle
We shall see. Thank you.
*"Grab a mAtric allen wrench"*
Number ten! They should really name those units some day
The way he says "the number 10 metric Allen wrench" makes me.think he doesn't know it's a 10mm Allen key.
Won't last. I repaired one of those and had another hole somewhere else. They are nice to put away but just don't last
I got so much pressure on mine it blows up those lifetime guarantee hoses from tractor supply
I had an expandable hose blow up on me last summer. Went to home Depot and got a heavy duty hose. I will never allow these garbage as seen on TV products in my house again.
Should have tried replacing the o ring. Noticed it didn't have one or it was all chewed up.
That coppers gunna ware away in no time at all
We shall see.
Your fine. Dont bite the hose anymore
the main reason these things break is because they are 10 feet short till you turn the water on. IOW, you are always yanking on them.
Noted if mine ever gives up the ghost
Got annoyed with that style hose once they started to twist they become useless. Got a good hose reel setup and no issues
My puppy would reduce that hose to atoms in about 5 minutes. 😱
Number ten metric. Sounds like a 10mm to me
I use the same kind of hose but I get it from the automotive section because all the fittings are steel maybe I don't know what kind of metal they are but they're not plastic
There's a much tighter, more secure and easier way of making a wire hose clamp. They even make a tool to do it.
American hoses are so weird. Search up Australian hose fittings, if we have a leak in the middle, we have hose joiners, and if the end gets damaged, you can cut it and just screw the connector back on. Also they're quick connect so you don't need to screw it onto a tap
Fixed is fixed!
If the hole is in the middle of the hose, how to fix it?
"Single strand"
It's called solid core mate
What size is the inner rubber tube? I see the fitting is 3/4 inch, but i dont the measure for the inner hose. Thanks
Oh Men!, I put mine in the garbage, I was so mad it only lasted about a month 💀
Last until the next hoke. I had one for 6 years. Hole in same place but heeded a longer one.
Just use a PEX crimp that sure looks like that's the size
The fix will last, but the hose will fail in another spot.
I’m thinking the same thing. So far so good though.
So what movie do you have to watch prior to this repair... you know.. to make sure you have the right lubricant...
Buddy you sure the o rings just didn't need to be replaced?
I don't know why you didn't replace that washer while you had it apart
That’ll last 5 seasons of summer before the copper work hardens and splits
Just go to ace and get some garden hose stop leak.
looking that up now!
Ugh, I just tossed a 50’ one because of this.
Totally get it. I was going to chuck mine until a sub said they wanted to see a fix.
This hose will have a new hole before you know it. Planned obcellecence
They are deaigned for only a short lifespan then replacent. Likely holes elsewhere in it already
I gotta do this to my hose but it's not expandable
Fixed for good
Nice job no BS
H O S E clamp🎉
Yea right! Run full bore, & slam shut. Leave for 2 hours, mid day, in sun!
Then tell me it doesn't leak!
Nice
Reduce, reuse and recycle. The best way and the only way.
Flexible hoses are awful, I've had 2 and both spring random leaks by just existing it seems like. Hardly used em but sure enough went outside 1 day to see 1 of them leaking, then a few weeks later my 2nd one did too.
Just use a small automotive hose clamp.
It’s a real shame that hose clamps aren’t 99 cents lmao. Also most people call a “number 10 metric” 10 millimeter. You’ll get it soon buddy, keep trying.
10mm Allen key not a No 10 Allen wrench
😂 I know I know.
The copper wire will fall apart in a few months causing another leak.
Bro you prob paid $12 for that hose at Walmart! Throw that garbage hose out & go spend a little cash on a great hose that you’ll get your moneys worth out of! Great fix btw!
If by fixed you mean fixed/rigged to break after two weeks of use then ya. It’s fixed. (Not your repair. The hose in general)
I got one leaking in the middle.
I don't have any matric allen wrenches.
Looks fixed to me
sound like Joe Rogan
Good besides the wire
