This really brings back some great memories. My dad was a set painter in Hollywood and worked on the blues brothers. Some of his work can be seen on the movie, he painted the horse mural on the side of the good ol" boys mobile home, the stained glass windows in the church where Jake does his back flips and parts of the mural on the wall at the end of the film. He went on Location to Chicago for some of the filming. When the film was finished my mom and Dad got invited to the wrap up party where The blues Brothers played for all the guest's. It was great listening to all the stories my Dad would bring home from work, we would always ask him what film or tv show he was working on, some of which were as well as the Blues Brothers, Ghostbusters, Psycho 2, The Goonies, and many many more. I only wish we had appreciated it more then, but to us it was just Dad going to work 😊😊😊

Debbie, can you share your dad´s name? I´ve been doing some Blues Brothers related interviews and I found really difficult to find names from the art department. Even some of the crew don´t remember the people who worked on these murals (nobody knew who did the Ray´s Music Exchange mural, for example), so having some light on that part of the making of the film would be amazing!

Dan was in Nashville a few years ago, signing bottles of his branded liquor. It’s a real shame that he didn’t make time for his fans at that event, especially since this was the last one.

I went the the Blues Con in 2022 and Dan was mingling with some of the fans, particularly over near the replica cars. 2022 was a lot of fun but I wasn't able to go this year. Real mature crowd and everyone having fun. The lines were real long for merch which was held in one of the prison buildings.

Its funny because a friend of mine is a huge BB fan and it’s usually the other way around: Dan being nice and Jim being the opposite. He says Jim has a brother in law that keeps people away from Jim, and Jim typically seems to be the unfriendly one. In his experiences anyways. My friend met Dan in a hotel lobby last year and he said Dan signed for him and took pics with him and his son and talked to him for a while. Couldn’t have been nicer. Maybe something is going on in his personal life right now.
Thank you for all your videos Jordan!

When they would take him off on the golf cart, the woman with him would say "dont worry, hes coming back" which kinda gives people false hope. Like katy said to me, he saw eceryone was waiting to meet him.. have someone tell everyone he doesnt want to meet people today.. would have saved people hours of watching to see where he was all day so they didnt misd their chance, if there would be one.. otherwise, people could have been off doing something else. Would have been a courteous way of blowing off the fans.. instead, after the last time they drove him off, they said "hes going to the stage now. He wont be back". Lots of kids there excited to meet Ray from the Ghostbusters with their toys, and wondering ehy this guy wont say hi

That troubled me . Huge Aykroyd fan . If it was in public I get the leave guy in peace thing but it’s literally an event celebrating his work and selling his merch . At least do high five drive by on golf cart to crowd ? Or have courtesy to lie and apologize and say you’re sick , or busy etc .
True Judge of Character is how you Treat those you do not have to treat well .
Hope it was just a bad day , if it were me I would fake it for 30 minutes and shake hands , do selfies .

I didn’t expect a whole bunch of emotions to wash over me watching this. My father was a big Blues Brother fan and I have flashes of memories watching it with him. I was born in ‘81 to give you an idea of my age. He was a Vietnam vet who was a heavy alcoholic, so the majority of occasions we actually spent some time together involved a television set. Every now and then, I’ll have a wave of memories come back to me and hit me hard - shows, movies, music I experienced with him… it’s bittersweet. He left when I was 17 and we never spoke again. He took his own life about six years later. Clicking on the video I was just thinking oh cool another Daze’ upload. Then when the concert portion started, I unexpectedly started balling as the above memories of time watching the movie with my father hit me.
So yeh, that comment went deep and dark… sorry about that!🙃

Great video about the event! As for Dan´s behaviour, it seems it´s a "natural" thing for him to do, as I recall some people saying the same after some other Blues Brothers gigs. Jim Belushi took some time to sign some autographs and talk with people while Dan stood backstage. I remember ages ago he had problems with some fans (I think it was something like a stalker sending letters to his home or anything like that, it´s been 20 years or so so I can´t remember everything) so maybe that changed his behaviour on gigs?
I can see him being different on Crystal Head´s signings as, well, he´s the only attraction there, so he has to do that. I knew people who meet him and said he´s polite and kind interacting with fans. But yes, too bad he didn´t sign anything on a convention made from his inventions.

I’m gonna put a defence in for Dan Akroyd. He has been diagnosed with Autism. I’m autistic myself and was diagnosed as an adult. We don’t handle huge emotional stuff well and he has recently lost his dear friend & Johns wife. Everytime he puts the suit on it will remind him of all the dear people he has lost.
I personally would have found it almost impossible to turn up and the fact that he came is a credit to him. He got on stage and he performed, but this is maybe just too raw for him.

I loved being at the event with all of my other Blumo and Mopar C-body owners. Had a blast from start to finish. Really?? Dan is really a good guy, met him many times in the past. To say he's not a good man due to one appearance is just stupid. I'm sorry he didn't meet YOUR expectations, but he's done more for Blues and Jazz than most in the US. How's about YOU show HIM some respect.

I didn’t hear anyone say he wasn’t a good man. How about YOU respecting this channel. There was no disrespect shown towards Dan. What was reported was Fact and his opinion, and he is entitled to that. Stop being so offended over little stuff.

Meet him in 2008. Really nice fellow and a huge artist; he did the second half of The Blues Brothers Band gig by himself, moving all over the stage and singing in the same key all his classics. Spent most of the after gig on the backstage with him, chatting about small things as he was a friend (instead of a Stax star!).

Cut some slack on Dan. He’s been through a ton, losing so many friends and now Judith. You know he also has social anxiety and autism. Remember his contribution to music and comedy. Great video

@@DazewithJordantheLionI'm not trying to make excuses, but I'd be a broken mess if this was (rumored) the day of me saying goodbye to "The Blues Brothers" and the last vestige of it in Judy....and then do a show.
Maybe he allowed himself to hide inside of Elwood so as not to cry all day before a show.
He showed up early for a reason, but I think things changed for him once he got there.
I feel Danny got there and couldn't say hello...so he decided Elwood was there to say goodbye.
I dunno. I wasn't there that day. But I do know how much the BB's and Judy/John meant to him.

I’m very disappointed by Dan Aykroyd’s lack of engagement towards the crowd. I had always heard he was “one of the good guys” which makes this seem quite shocking. However, I can’t rule out that in his state of aging he’s probably being prescribed meds that affect his moods and personality.

Dan seemed off even on stage . I get that he’s up in years . Never heard bad stories about the guy with fans . Legit worried and curious if something behind scenes was going down ?
That said if I were in his shoes and feeling rotten would’ve at least addressed those waiting from megaphone as a joke and explain why I’m not socializing and apologize .
That said , True Judge of Character is how you treat people you do not have to treat well .
His shunning fans really troubles me .
