I'm definitely going to have to listen to Robin Trower! I think I may have missed out here, but on the plus side there's something new and interesting for me to listen too. I'm going to have to learn some of his music.
I just discovered this channel tonight while watching some Black Crowes song lessons by various UA-camrs. I am totally blown away by your instruction techniques and tonight is my first experience with open G tunings... other than standard tuning I have never ventured into Dropped D or any other tunings except one DADGAD for use in playing Kashmir. I liked, subscribed and hit the bell my friend. I look forward into learning lots and lots of good music from you buddy.... I would love to learn how to play note note and the entirety of the Robin Trower song Jack and Jill if you ever decide to tackle it and post it.... it's a tune hardly nobody wants to touch..lol... RT has only played it live but a couple of times... dunno why because it smokes most all tunes out there in my opinion. Cheers, 🍻

Dave is right about Robin Trower having a lot of great music pieces on other LP's aside from the outstanding "Bridge of Sighs" album. For example, another favorite of mine is the title cut from his 1980 "Victims of the Fury" album.
Love this video! Robin Trower is my all-time favorite guitarist, and songwriter so it's especially cool to see these riffs sussed out. (To use a British term!) Don't forget the sublime blues licks on his more recent albums, like "Up and Gone", "What You Never Want To Do", "Gold to Gray", "Jigsaw", and so many more.. Robin has kept developing and maturing over the years, and the material he puts out has gotten very sweet indeed!
This is a great lesson Dave! Nuggets of Trower sprinkled throughout. Very unique sound and love that his chords are all a little weird, but in a weirdly cool way! Thanks for all you do!
Excellent lesson. Trower is still not sufficently appreciated - possibly because when he was doing his best work he was also being dismissed as a 'Hendrix imitator', which he wasn't. 'Bridge of Sighs' was a great album in 1974, and is one of the albums from that period that I still listen to - not least because it's a collection of strong songs by a real group, not just an egomaniacal shredfest.
Awesome!!!!!! We cover "Day Of The Eagle" "Bridge Of Sighs" and "Too Rolling Stoned". Once...we even added "Little Bit OF Sympathy". The crowd always responds strongly even if they aren't hip to the tunes.I have a running fantasy about covering the entire Bridge Of Sighs album at the gig from start to finish. I guess it would only be prudent to add "Daydream" and Long Misty Days for the icing on the cake! Thanks for showing "About To Begin", "Smile"and "Daydream". James Dewar is going to be missed.When I found out he had died a couple years ago it really made me sad because I knew there was no possibility of him ever doing any type of reunion with Robin Trower.I had been hoping for years that he would possibly come back and maybe make one record or do a tour.He's one of the great singers from the '70s that a lot of people don't give him his deserved respect.The fact that a lot of people don't even know who he is or was is a real shame.
Daydream was actually a song he wrote for and dedicated to "The Man" Jimi Hendrix. I was 15 when Jimi died and 18 when Robin showed up as Jimi's heir apparent, and boy were we all grateful at the time! Robin filled a huge hole in the world at that time. I was living in Los Angeles at that time and Robin did a radio concert from a local recording studio. Me and my best friend raced to the studio and knocked on the back door. The security guard let us in. A few years later, I was managing and engineering for a Marin County band that was asked to open for Robin at The Stone nightclub in San Francisco. Neal Schon and Clarence Clemons, among other greats who showed up to watch that show. For the next couple of years, the band I was working with was asked to open for Robin. Those were the days. Living in Marin County opened me to meeting rock stars constantly and running into them again and again. Carlos Santana. Gregg Rollie. Sammy Hagar. Huey Lewis. Jerry Garcia. I used to work right next to the Grateful Dead's warehouse where they rehearsed and kept their equipment, and I also used to rehearse in a place called Hun Sound where I ran into Van Morrison, Roseann Carter Cash, and Sammy when he was doing the Red Rocker thing. He'd leave the doors open and invite us in to watch him rehearse when we were taking a break. Marin County in the 70s and 80s . . . Man oh man!!! I used to own two original uni vibes. I sold one to Lee Michaels (for $40) and shortly after that the other one was stolen along with a lot of my other equipment, including 2 original Fuzz Face pedals and a black Guild 512 acoustic 12-string. Anyway, thanks for doing Daydream. Brought back a lot of great memories. It's my favorite of his many great songs. Now, how 'bout some Tommy Bolin? His work in both James Gang and Deep Purple is as great as his solo stuff. He was a force of nature! He was extremely important. Without him working with Billy Cobham, Jeff Beck would not have done Blow by Blow. And that he died after opening for Jeff is a strange circle completing. His memory must be kept alive. I met Tommy in Santa Monica when I was a young kid. He was trying out a Travis Bean aluminum neck guitar in Ace Music where my older brother was the manager; with his foot up on the little amp; a purple streak in his hair. I was awe struck!
I've been a huge fan of both Jimi and Trower since I was a child in the 70's. But as far as the heir to Jimi to goes, I'd suggest checking out Randy Hansen. The thrash metal band I was in opened up for him and Buddy Miles once. Randy was awesome, and super friendly. He got to the club at about 3:30 to do his soundcheck, and so when the opening bands showed up, we could all do our soundcheck... Except Buddy wasn't there until 30 minutes before the show started (with my band going on first), and he actually called and aggressively insisted that none of us got to do a soundcheck until he had done his. Basically he didn't want anyone sounding playing before him to sound okay. We call this type of person a _coward_ typically. Our first two songs were our soundcheck. Luckily the sound guy knew our band well enough to get us sounding half decent by the third song. But Randy put on an awesome show! Playing while running around in the crowd, and at one point he was running around in the balcony and had a couple of random fans lower him over the balcony railing and down into the crowd on the floor 12 feet below, all the while still jamming his ass off. Highly recommend checking out Randy some day, if you haven't already.
@@aylbdrmadison1051 I lived in Marin county, and got to meet Randy at the health food store I managed in San Anselmo. I saw him do the Hendrix thing at Berkley. The same place Jimi played. Randy was indeed cool! Very mellow cat. I also managed a band that opened for Robin Trower in San Francisco (I also was the live mix engineer). When Robin played, everyone who was anyone showed up to watch. The guys from Journey, and from the E Street band. Robin was a god back then, and everyone who was anyone knew it.
I've never heard this about "Daydream", but certainly "Song for a Dreamer", featured on the Procol Harum 1971 album "Broken Barricades", was one Robin Trower wrote heavily inspired by Jimi Hendrix. The lyric, as with all Procol Harum songs at that time, was by Keith Reid. In the biography "Procol Harum - Beyond the Pale", Trower says about Hendrix: "I only had one of his albums when he died. I wasn't a follower of his. I liked his first album and that was it, and I lost contact with him as far as an artist goes after that because I was more interested in blues and black music; that's always been my main diet of music. Just after he died, we went to America and I was sitting in a hotel bedroom fooling with a funny tuning on the guitar and I came up with this idea that I thought could be a song. Just as I'd formulated it, Keith walked in and said, 'I got this lyric. It's a tribute to Hendrix.' It was 'Song For A Dreamer'. I said, 'Let's have a look at it,' and it fitted perfectly to this music. So it was just one of those things that was meant to be. The die was cast." Before doing any more work on the song Trower sat down and listened carefully to all Hendrix's records. "I really studied it a lot to make it sound as much as possible like the feeling of what he created. So because I did all that, it had a terrific impact on me. It wasn't something that I listened to over the years. I heard it all over a period of a few days. I really listened to it all a lot, and it had such an imprint on me that everything I wrote after that started to sound like him. So in one way it was a good thing that I tried to do the tribute to him, but it obviously influenced me more than normal. I think it did have the feeling of some of the stuff he'd done, which is what I set out to do."
"In This Place" is such a moody song, when you were playing those chords it took me back to seeing him live. I've seen Robin live 9 times and each time was pure magic. Trower, Blackmore, Carlos and Nugent were some of my top heroes back in the day. I'm amazed at how well you know each chord just by memory ( i think).
I made the comment before you did Daydream. Maaan, the live rhythm is sick. It's so beautiful --- slower a lot more sliding into chords and, again, the solo... whew, so much emotion. Then there's Dewar's vocals...

@@aylbdrmadison1051 Although I am a MASSIVE fan of Robin's music and have been since his Procol days, so 50+ years and counting, in truth my username came from a kind of weird desire to something different to one's own name or some politically motivated crud that seem to be the 'trend' these days. But the album recording, as brilliant as it is, pales into insignificance when compared to some live recordings that are out there: 6was9 has an AMAZING catalogue of shall we call it unofficial recordings and there is one I saw at least 13 years back of FEB from Modesto, California - the track is not called FEB - that gives me goosebumps every time. Out of this world, some might say 😄but that might be the result of our English sense of humour which is ingrained after 69 years 😳🙄😁 I'm not trying to trivialise his music or what I believe has been its impact on me over a vast majority of my life, let me just end by saying his feel AND tone reaches deep into my soul and is a feeling that I cannot comprehend being without as most days include at least SOME extended listens of music created by this genius of a musician. Trower is such a wonderful player. I think his single note style is very unique, he has a great way of shaping his notes and his phrasing is therefore very different to Hendrix. His latest CD is well worth a listen. Great lesson once again David. 🍻 🍻
Daydream is still my favourite summer song of all time when i heard it on live i was 17 years old that sustain will stick with me forever when he hit that note it was before gary moore did parisienne walkways when he held that note it was amazing to me

Saw Trower with Thin Lizzy on the undercard in Germany (West Germany at the time) in 1977. Good show. To be honest, Thin Lizzy was spot on that night, really electric, but Trower and company weren't at their best. Despite being off a bit, Trower was still the best guitarist I've ever seen live!
Heart, soul ,taste, passion, finesse , orgasmic expression of ones inner self/soul coming out of Rob Trower with a Marshall stack as a pair of lungs and wah wah , superior finger vibrato and pick inflections to manipulate his rigs vocal cords,all played with sure footed confidence.He now is 70 ish and in the winter of his life , thus.

You're right of course. Been playing _Day Of The Eagle_ since I was a child in the 1970's, and that's definitely a C# minor 7. There is no Major third in that chord. No idea how one mistakes a minor 3rd for a Major 3rd, but I saw that same silliness in music books back then. I think some people make assumptions instead of actually listening to something they personally don't care about. Personal bias (especially unfounded bias) can make people both blind and deaf. Edit: That chord is a B augmented, often used as the V chord in a jazzy blues. It's in a lot of things from Jazz to The Beatles and beyond, but I most often use it for the V chord turn-around in a jazzy blues version of _Stormy Monday._ It's the version that climbs from the ii chord walked up to the iii chord, then back down to the ii before the IV and then Augmented V. Try it out, I bet you'll like that move a lot (or likely you already know it, lols).
Very nice lesson! RobinTrower is one of the most underrated guitar heroes in history. Jack Bruce of course, knew exactly who he is, hence THREE albums with him over 26 years - not to in any way dis James Dewar (RIP) who was a wonderful rock/soul vocalist that really helped create the Robin Trower Band sound.
in an interview I once read, Robin said he wrote "Daydream" on acoustic guitar - my favorite version of the song is from his first live album 1976's Robin Trower Live! (recorded in Stockholm, Sweden.)
My older brother (RIP) tried to get me into RT when I was like 10 in the late 70s. I really didn't appreciate his skill back then. This video is an eye opener to how good he is. That last one with those pull-offs is wonderful stuff! Thanks man!
Trower's chords got me hooked from the first time. And of course his signature lush sound with the Uni Vibe is just legendary. An amazing fact that is not very well known, Robert Fripp asked him for guitar lessons. That says a lot as a guitar player.
I am a Trower fan going back to '70 with Procol Harum's "Home". Whiskey Train was the 'hit' but there's great playing all over this. LP sounding. The opening for Jethro Tull Strat incident was later. Heard "Daydream" from Robin's TRFY and had my GF drive me in the rain (we were 16) to buy it. Started playing then and always inspired by his work. '76, buy a '75 HT Strat. Live with a Magnatone combo amp, Cry Baby and red script Big Muff. Also worked for UFO stuff, too. Michael was another fave. Still dabble :) Vibro Thang is what I use with whatever.
Bridge of Sighs, I learned this song when I was 14 years old in 1972. My early guitar instructor, was a Robin Trower clone. I learned the entire album, bridge of sighs I was 14 years old, his tone was much better in 70s, than that it is nowadays. Someone gave me a univibe. Phase Shifters and Ecoplex,was the go to for a Trower sound in 70s
Check out Robin's tribute to Hendrix which he wrote after he heard Jimi had died. It's called Song for a Dreamer from Procol Harum's Broken Barricades lp. Very, very dreamy and psychodelic.

He was an absolutely terrible singer.He was worse than me in the shower.he couldn't even hold a single lighter in the same coliseum to James Dewar as far as vocal abilities go.To be honest I actually felt embarrassed for the guy,because he sounded so off-key.Everything Robin and the rest of the band(even that great bass player but horrible vocalist)did was absolutely spot-on perfect.and he's live-tone totally blew me away.because it sounded like his tone from the 70s when he played "bridge of sighs" it had the same sound as the record coming out of my turntable it was an absolutely amazing show.
@@davidrobinson4012 .11-.58(there's a company online that will sell you custom gauge individual strings so you can make your own set).Some of my different guitars require different gauges.some of them can only take a 10 or 11 on the high-E and a 52-54.The tension doesn't mess up the playing of the guitar,but sometimes depending on the guitar,I might have to go to ..10-..46s.I've always preferred heavy strings

glad to see you cover Daydream... one of my fave Robin Trower tunes. the style of playing that you seemed to struggle to explain is what I call chord/melody where you let a chord ring while hammering and pulling melody notes so it comes close to sounding like 2 guitars. also much used by Hendrix in songs such as Little Wing (very well may have been the inspiration for Daydream).
Excellent Trower is amazing and when I do try to sing I think James Dewar this is great in this place.. literally.. a BUDDY swore up and down Trower tuned down to D and I thought Eb but when I tried it all the hard chords I could never seem to figure out just wound up being normal chords but the tuning just made them way sweeter..... You gotta tune to the recording Chased this for 40 years thank you I love Robin Trower hes part of me now...

I heard of his name but never got round to listening to him. Being a big jimi fan and bluesy rock lover I'm going check him out. Those chords were dreamy and tasty. The hendrix groove was solid, loved it. Been following for some time love your lessons.

@@stevet.4974 I absolutely love"Seven Moons"(The "BLT" album was pretty damn good too)...THAT & the stuff they did live together,was a great example of what monsters those guys were(are).I went to see Robin in concert a couple years ago and he had the same exact guitar sound that he had in the 1970s.I've been hundreds of show's over the past 35+ years,and it was one of the loudest concerts I've been to since the late 80''s-early 90's.His guitar sound made my eardrums vibrate.I guess because I was sitting stage left in the third row right by the House Speakers did not help for the pain of how loud his guitar was.But,damn did it sound good!
@@ziggylayneable Dude I had BLT and Truce when they came out.... So freakin bad ass and killer. What was interesting was they were all good SONGS not just a lot of jamming. My girlfriend at the time and her friends were a from Guatamala and knew nothing about rock and I remember they loved all the tunes on BLT/Truce.

The majority of my musical peers are at least 10 to 15 years older than me.my father was a DJ at a radio station when I was a kid so I was exposed to tons of music but I was born in '72. Living in Marin County opened me to meeting rock stars constantly and running into them again and again. Carlos Santana. Gregg Rollie. Sammy Hagar. Huey Lewis. Jerry Garcia. I used to work right next to the Grateful Dead's warehouse where they rehearsed and kept their equipment, and I also used to rehearse in a place called Hun Sound where I ran into Van Morrison, Roseann Carter Cash, and Sammy when he was doing the Red Rocker thing. He'd leave the doors open and invite us in to watch him rehearse when we were taking a break. Marin County in the 70s and 80s . . . Man oh man!!! I used to own two original uni vibes. I sold one to Lee Michaels (for $40) and shortly after that the other one was stolen along with a lot of my other equipment, including 2 original Fuzz Face pedals and a black Guild 512 acoustic 12-string. Anyway, thanks for doing Daydream. Brought back a lot of great memories. It's my favorite of his many great songs. Now, how 'bout some Tommy Bolin? His work in both James Gang and Deep Purple is as great as his solo stuff. He was a force of nature! He was extremely important. Without him working with Billy Cobham, Jeff Beck would not have done Blow by Blow. And that he died after opening for Jeff is a strange circle completing. His memory must be kept alive. I met Tommy in Santa Monica when I was a young kid. He was trying out a Travis Bean aluminum neck guitar in Ace Music where my older brother was the manager; with his foot up on the little amp; a purple streak in his hair. I was awe struck!
I've been a huge fan of both Jimi and Trower since I was a child in the 70's. But as far as the heir to Jimi to goes, I'd suggest checking out Randy Hansen. The thrash metal band I was in opened up for him and Buddy Miles once. Randy was awesome, and super friendly. He got to the club at about 3:30 to do his soundcheck, and so when the opening bands showed up, we could all do our soundcheck...
Except Buddy wasn't there until 30 minutes before the show started (with my band going on first), and he actually called and aggressively insisted that none of us got to do a soundcheck until he had done his. Basically he didn't want anyone sounding playing before him to sound okay. We call this type of person a _coward_ typically. Our first two songs were our soundcheck. Luckily the sound guy knew our band well enough to get us sounding half decent by the third song.
But Randy put on an awesome show! Playing while running around in the crowd, and at one point he was running around in the balcony and had a couple of random fans lower him over the balcony railing and down into the crowd on the floor 12 feet below, all the while still jamming his ass off. Highly recommend checking out Randy some day, if you haven't already.
@@aylbdrmadison1051 I lived in Marin county, and got to meet Randy at the health food store I managed in San Anselmo. I saw him do the Hendrix thing at Berkley. The same place Jimi played. Randy was indeed cool! Very mellow cat. I also managed a band that opened for Robin Trower in San Francisco (I also was the live mix engineer). When Robin played, everyone who was anyone showed up to watch. The guys from Journey, and from the E Street band. Robin was a god back then, and everyone who was anyone knew it.
I've never heard this about "Daydream", but certainly "Song for a Dreamer", featured on the Procol Harum 1971 album "Broken Barricades", was one Robin Trower wrote heavily inspired by Jimi Hendrix. The lyric, as with all Procol Harum songs at that time, was by Keith Reid. In the biography "Procol Harum - Beyond the Pale", Trower says about Hendrix:
"I only had one of his albums when he died. I wasn't a follower of his. I liked his first album and that was it, and I lost contact with him as far as an artist goes after that because I was more interested in blues and black music; that's always been my main diet of music. Just after he died, we went to America and I was sitting in a hotel bedroom fooling with a funny tuning on the guitar and I came up with this idea that I thought could be a song. Just as I'd formulated it, Keith walked in and said, 'I got this lyric. It's a tribute to Hendrix.' It was 'Song For A Dreamer'. I said, 'Let's have a look at it,' and it fitted perfectly to this music. So it was just one of those things that was meant to be. The die was cast."
Before doing any more work on the song Trower sat down and listened carefully to all Hendrix's records.
"I really studied it a lot to make it sound as much as possible like the feeling of what he created. So because I did all that, it had a terrific impact on me. It wasn't something that I listened to over the years. I heard it all over a period of a few days. I really listened to it all a lot, and it had such an imprint on me that everything I wrote after that started to sound like him. So in one way it was a good thing that I tried to do the tribute to him, but it obviously influenced me more than normal. I think it did have the feeling of some of the stuff he'd done, which is what I set out to do."

"In This Place" is such a moody song, when you were playing those chords it took me back to seeing him live. I've seen Robin live 9 times and each time was pure magic. Trower, Blackmore, Carlos and Nugent were some of my top heroes back in the day. I'm amazed at how well you know each chord just by memory ( i think).
The live solo on "Daydream..." damn. Saw him a few years ago in a club in Austin. Still amazing.
I made the comment before you did Daydream. Maaan, the live rhythm is sick. It's so beautiful --- slower a lot more sliding into chords and, again, the solo... whew, so much emotion. Then there's Dewar's vocals...

@@aylbdrmadison1051 Although I am a MASSIVE fan of Robin's music and have been since his Procol days, so 50+ years and counting, in truth my username came from a kind of weird desire to something different to one's own name or some politically motivated crud that seem to be the 'trend' these days. But the album recording, as brilliant as it is, pales into insignificance when compared to some live recordings that are out there: 6was9 has an AMAZING catalogue of shall we call it unofficial recordings and there is one I saw at least 13 years back of FEB from Modesto, California - the track is not called FEB - that gives me goosebumps every time. Out of this world, some might say 😄but that might be the result of our English sense of humour which is ingrained after 69 years 😳🙄😁
I'm not trying to trivialise his music or what I believe has been its impact on me over a vast majority of my life, let me just end by saying his feel AND tone reaches deep into my soul and is a feeling that I cannot comprehend being without as most days include at least SOME extended listens of music created by this genius of a musician. Trower is such a wonderful player. I think his single note style is very unique, he has a great way of shaping his notes and his phrasing is therefore very different to Hendrix. His latest CD is well worth a listen. Great lesson once again David. 🍻 🍻
Daydream is still my favourite summer song of all time when i heard it on live i was 17 years old that sustain will stick with me forever when he hit that note it was before gary moore did parisienne walkways when he held that note it was amazing to me

Saw Trower with Thin Lizzy on the undercard in Germany (West Germany at the time) in 1977.

You're right of course. Been playing _Day Of The Eagle_ since I was a child in the 1970's, and that's definitely a C# minor 7. There is no Major third in that chord. No idea how one mistakes a minor 3rd for a Major 3rd, but I saw that same silliness in music books back then. I think some people make assumptions instead of actually listening to something they personally don't care about. Personal bias (especially unfounded bias) can make people both blind and deaf.
Edit: That chord is a B augmented, often used as the V chord in a jazzy blues.
It's in a lot of things from Jazz to The Beatles and beyond, but I most often use it for the V chord turn-around in a jazzy blues version of _Stormy Monday._ It's the version that climbs from the ii chord walked up to the iii chord, then back down to the ii before the IV and then Augmented V. Try it out, I bet you'll like that move a lot (or likely you already know it, lols).

Very nice lesson! RobinTrower is one of the most underrated guitar heroes in history. Jack Bruce of course, knew exactly who he is, hence THREE albums with him over 26 years - not to in any way dis James Dewar (RIP) who was a wonderful rock/soul vocalist that really helped create the Robin Trower Band sound.

in an interview I once read, Robin said he wrote "Daydream" on acoustic guitar - my favorite version of the song is from his first live album 1976's Robin Trower Live! (recorded in Stockholm, Sweden.)

Trower's chords got me hooked from the first time. And of course his signature lush sound with the Uni Vibe is just legendary. An amazing fact that is not very well known, Robert Fripp asked him for guitar lessons. That says a lot as a guitar player.

I am a Trower fan going back to '70 with Procol Harum's "Home". Whiskey Train was the 'hit' but there's great playing all over this. LP sounding. The opening for Jethro Tull Strat incident was later.
Heard "Daydream" from Robin's TRFY and had my GF drive me in the rain (we were 16) to buy it.
Started playing then and always inspired by his work. '76, buy a '75 HT Strat. Live with a Magnatone combo amp, Cry Baby and red script Big Muff. Also worked for UFO stuff, too. Michael was another fave.
Still dabble :) Vibro Thang is what I use with whatever.

Bridge of Sighs, I learned this song when I was 14 years old in 1972. My early guitar instructor, was a Robin Trower clone. I learned the entire album, bridge of sighs I was 14 years old, his tone was much better in 70s, than that it is nowadays. Someone gave me a univibe. Phase Shifters and Ecoplex,was the go to for a Trower sound in 70s
Check out Robin's tribute to Hendrix which he wrote after he heard Jimi had died. It's called Song for a Dreamer from Procol Harum's Broken Barricades lp. Very, very dreamy and psychodelic.

He was an absolutely terrible singer.He was worse than me in the shower.he couldn't even hold a single lighter in the same coliseum to James Dewar as far as vocal abilities go.To be honest I actually felt embarrassed for the guy,because he sounded so off-key.Everything Robin and the rest of the band(even that great bass player but horrible vocalist)did was absolutely spot-on perfect.and he's live-tone totally blew me away.because it sounded like his tone from the 70s when he played "bridge of sighs" it had the same sound as the record coming out of my turntable it was an absolutely amazing show.
@@davidrobinson4012 .11-.58(there's a company online that will sell you custom gauge individual strings so you can make your own set).Some of my different guitars require different gauges.some of them can only take a 10 or 11 on the high-E and a 52-54.The tension doesn't mess up the playing of the guitar,but sometimes depending on the guitar,I might have to go to ..10-..46s.I've always preferred heavy strings

glad to see you cover Daydream... one of my fave Robin Trower tunes. the style of playing that you seemed to struggle to explain is what I call chord/melody where you let a chord ring while hammering and pulling melody notes so it comes close to sounding like 2 guitars. also much used by Hendrix in songs such as Little Wing (very well may have been the inspiration for Daydream).

a BUDDY swore up and down Trower tuned down to D and I thought Eb but when I tried it all the hard chords I could never seem to figure out just wound up being normal chords but the tuning just made them way sweeter.....

I heard of his name but never got round to listening to him. Being a big jimi fan and bluesy rock lover I'm going check him out. Those chords were dreamy and tasty. The hendrix groove was solid, loved it. Been following for some time love your lessons.

@@stevet.4974 I absolutely love"Seven Moons"(The "BLT" album was pretty damn good too)...THAT & the stuff they did live together,was a great example of what monsters those guys were(are).I went to see Robin in concert a couple years ago and he had the same exact guitar sound that he had in the 1970s.I've been hundreds of show's over the past 35+ years,and it was one of the loudest concerts I've been to since the late 80''s-early 90's.His guitar sound made my eardrums vibrate.I guess because I was sitting stage left in the third row right by the House Speakers did not help for the pain of how loud his guitar was.But,damn did it sound good!
@@ziggylayneable Dude I had BLT and Truce when they came out.... So freakin bad ass and killer. What was interesting was they were all good SONGS not just a lot of jamming. My girlfriend at the time and her friends were a from Guatamala and knew nothing about rock and I remember they loved all the tunes on BLT/Truce.

The majority of my musical peers are at least 10 to 15 years older than me.my father was a DJ at a radio station when I was a kid so I was exposed to tons of music but I was born in '72. By the time I had started listening to this stuff I was the second generation to catch on to it(mid 1980s).You have a great day I enjoyed this little conversation✌️🙂✌️
