    Great info, I have a few diffrent preferences. I'd suggest a better quality swivel then shown in video. High quality micro ball bearing swivels are best. In the salmon river in new york braid is rare to see. Even for salmon 12 pound mono is most common and even lighter leader.

    I have watched a few of your videos today and I gotta say I have learned a lot about steelhead salmon and catfishing today. Also thank you for explaining what rigs to use. I had difficulty trying to figure out which ones to use. Keep it up.

    Please help me out. How can you cast into a deep hole with these bobbers with tubing setup? You can’t cast with 10’ line hanging out of the top of rod. What I’m I missing here. I’m use to a slip bobber where I reel in line all the way up. I’m going to The Betsie River next week and would like to try this setup.

    • @thefisherbrad
      @thefisherbrad  5 років тому +1

      The method is actualy pretty easy to cast. First off the longer the rod the easier it will be to cast a long leader for float fishing, the longer rod will also help keep your line off the water while you are float fishing to give you a better connection to your float to have a great hookset when you get a bobber down. so basically I would suggest getting a long rod and the method should be easy to learn!

      @ZackAttacksTheWorld 5 років тому +1

      The Fisher Brad can you run 30lb braided if the rating is 8-12lbs? That’s what the medium is rated. Medium heavy is rated 10-17lbs. Thank you!

    • @thefisherbrad
      @thefisherbrad  5 років тому +1

      Zack Hootman yes you can, it’s all on how you have your drag

    • @thefisherbrad
      @thefisherbrad  5 років тому

      Zack Hootman if your drag is to tight it could snap the rod just have to find the sweet spot which you can tell normaly after the first hook up or by manually pulling it out by your hand close to the reel

    Look up a egg loop knot. help your bait last way longer!
    Also round shot. Winged shot spins and causes a crazy drift.

    When fishing rivers like the Betsie, PM (Pere Marquette), and Platte (among others in Michigan) you need to pay attention to the rules regarding the type of bait that can be used. These specific rivers are protected trout streams so throughout most of the river treble hook lures are prohibited and you will be heavily fined if your caught by the DNR. There are also sections that are limited to flys only and sections that are restricted to catch and release only. One added note about fishing around the Homestead Dam - it was mentioned that you can't fish within 100 feet of the dam and there are white marker rods so you know where the "safe zone" starts, but keep in mind it is not JUST you as the fisherman that have to be 100' away, but you also cannot cast your line over that 100' "line" across the river - if you cast into the No Zone you can get a stern talking with a DNR officer or a fine if it is a repeat offense. Great video and I am amazed you had the river all to yourself! Was there yesterday and had 100+ guys within the first couple hundred yards. Be safe and have fun!

      I have been trying to find the rules on fishing the bestie. Do u have a link for the 2021 season or know where to find them?

    • @ajbergman3801
      @ajbergman3801 3 роки тому

      @@Patrick-lm5qy you can pick up a copy of the fishing rules booklet anywhere that you can purchase a fishing license. Please know that the rules for the Betsie River changed substantially last year. The no-fishing Zone has been extended from 100 feet out to 500 feet meaning that you cannot fish within 500 ft of the homestead Dam
