My aunt called me upset one day asking me why doctors refuse to tell people all of the secrets that Dr. Oz talks about on his show. She was angry and almost paranoid about physicians after listening to his show. I’m a physician so she wanted me to explain. He would say things like “your doctor won’t tell you this…” and people believed it. He knew exactly what he was doing.

@@Melissa0774 I would say its a product of a certain era in history when it did matter, but people have been trying to fool other people with magic elixers and other such garbage from the getgo. And now they trust trends on social media. Sometimes I think people get addicted to "getting the underground information" as a product of some survival mechanism that thinks the rare thing is the best thing. Who knows its very perplexing.

I had the misfortune of translating several seasons of Dr. Oz Show. Although he did teach people a few good things such as: wash your hands and don't eat rotten food, the amount of gibberish uttered there was astounding. It was not translation from english to my language, but from gibberish to quasi acceptable sentences. I still have nightmares brrrrr 😬

But this was.... what a terrible video from Dr. Grande. the ONLY thing he said about Fetterman being a "bad candidate", was an isolated incident as if no one has ever made a mistake(not saying we have all brandished deadly weapons though) , and MOst importantly -- NOTHING about Fetterman's policies. Politics is about Policy. How about some policies, if you are going to call him an exceptionally bad candidate?
Also... "Alternative medicine" can encompass everything from snake oil, to legit compounds that have scientific backing., For example, l pterostilbene shrinks lung tumors. Medical mushrooms assist in chemotherapy recovery and in the shrinking of some tumors. Vitamin d3 controls 1 24th the human genome. Vitamin K2MK7 lower all cause mortality, eg, stroke, heart attack, cancer, dementia. I could go on and on all day.
Homeopathy is total BS however. Hence the snake oil part of things.

The magic bean bags that you heat in microwaves do the same as rice would but they were not given to mold, or overheating. It was just the brand name. I think it contained flax seed? As a RN I had a long one that id heat and use after a 12 hour shift on my sore neck and shoulders. That was bought in the 90s. Worked great. So some of his shtick is old items or ideas renewed on his show. In hospital we used to have big moist heat pads that sat in hot baths of water, made of canvas. You could haul em out wrap a bunch 9f towels around it and the moist heat was used to ease muscle and bone pain for patients ( eww the wet canvas smell). So yes the moist heat works, rice in socks is a quirky twist, and questionable for insomnia.

As a PA resident I’m more worried about fedderman’s sudden interest in backing the proxy war with Russia via Ukraine than an accident where no one lost their life and instead left a bit of egg on his face. Fedderman and his wife actually did a lot of good in Braddock that was very hard hit by NAFTA as many Pennsylvania towns were like adding a free store and maintaining it which is a lot of work. I should know because I worked at a Salvation Army putting out donations and I walked anywhere from 25-30 a week. At least that’s actually helping people unlike Mahmet’s snake oil sales that made him even richer.

@@ellaella5537 if you can’t figure out that war is a racket and the only people that lose are citizens in this country while the military industrial complex and their stock holders win than please take a look at our foreign policy since WW2. There have been peace deals on the table in Ukraine that the west has rejected and why? Making a little Ching Ching on the side maybe? Yes is the answer. They want to do the same thing they’ve done to the global south and use our military to take their resources and privatize them to corporations and then they gouge us too controlling all the resources. They want Europe to buy their natural gas from us instead of Russia again using our military and the guise of humanitarian aid for corporate profits. Then propagandize citizens with scary words like authoritarianism, communism and socialism so we go along with it. May I suggest Revealing Ukraine and Ukraine on Fire plus the untold history of the United States only found on rumble to get a better picture? If you don’t mind me asking, how is this war in the Ukraine helping your family or even the Ukrainian citizens? Russia hadn’t been a communist country and the US has not kept its promise to not expand NATO up to its boarder. It would be like Russia in canada or Mexico so it’s not that I’m pro Russia I am anti bs and last I checked neither side voted for more war in the last election.

Not an attack on you and not backing Oz, but this kind of thinking is flawed. Just because something does not work for an individual does not mean we are to automatically dismiss something. For example, a statistical analysis of a study of a product with a 90% positive change would be considered a success despite 10% of the participants not benefitting or seeing any changes. Would we still dismiss the product with those numbers?? The majority of individuals with ovarian cysts could benefit from weight loss for a reduction in symptoms. Again, not guaranteed because each individual's biochemistry is different; its all trial and error to find what works for you. You can't expect getting general advice on a television show would be helpful, especially if you don't meet the full criteria. That's why any medical advice garnered from an outside source is to be followed up with you doctor. I personally take everything and compile it and taylor it to my individual needs. Again, not an attack on you. Just saying you may need to rethink your outlook.
