    I had one customer who told me "but the pump shaft still turns!" Ya, but its not putting out any oil! Then he says " I think you just want to sell me a new pump!" I said, that's EXACTLY what I want to do! lol..

      People can be funny, I like the customers that just drop stuff off and say "make it work again" which is most of them. The problem customers think they know what needs to happen but don't know how to fix it themselves...which means they really don't know what needs to happen.

    Just found this video. Thank You! Parts are coming. I feel very confident that I can do this. I was about to take it to the shop for repair. Saved me some money.

    I had the same problem on my saw, it is almost new. No oil. I took the cover, bar, and chain off. Started it up, was pumping oil just fine. It ended up being a dirty cover. After I cleaned it that fixed the problem. Thanks for taking the time to post this video.

    @TheGreasyShopRag - I've got a 450 rancher that oils everywhere EXCEPT the bar. I've confirmed the bar is clean, oils flows very freely - it just seems to come out all over the plate, clutch... but doesnt make it's way to the chain bar groove / actually oil the chain. I've replaced plate, tube. Any other suggestions? @KensSmallEngineRepair also - any ideas?

    Super helpful. Exactly my problem. I probably ran it dry of oil.

    So do you tell owner the backing plate needs to be replaced soon or did you reshape it?

      I ordered one and told him we would call when it came in. Many times the project date has been planned ahead with equipment rentals and gathering help. When the saw doesn't work they panic and we do our best to get them back into the wood. Realistically I can do it in minutes while he waits.

    Hi Scott, I have question, I just want to compare between Husqvarna and Stihl chainsaw which one do you recommend pls
    Thanks

    • @albertkropp
      @albertkropp 11 місяців тому +2

      Honestly, I'd say it often comes down to user preference. I prefer Husqvarna just for ergonomic reasons. Performance wise, If you compare a good Husky with a Good Stihl model, they generally tend to be identical. A big factor for most people should be what kind of dealer support do you have in your area. That will often affect the choice for most people.

      I like husk and stihl, they both top brands, Stihl is number one for top quality, but husk revs and cut faster than stihl.

    I have a new craftsman s180, I have good air, spark and fuel, i can get it to fire and then run for 5 sec or so and then it will die like it’s not getting gas anymore. Any ideas?

      If its brand new it may need a carb adjustment. If you can, open the high and low speed adjustments on the carb 1/4 turn or so and see if you get a change.

    Hey Scott, it is Bruce here. I just wanted to get advice for my Husqvarna 562XPG chainsaw. I am relatively new at owning a chainsaw. I also own a 435 Husqvarna chainsaw too. About storage for winter. Both saws have only been used with official Husqvarna Xp + 95 octane ethanol free canned fuel. It is all I buy or will run in them. Warranty extension on 3 litre purchase of saws. Had a stihl before and ran pump fuel and noticed a difference in power with better fuel. Should I drain that fuel out and run them dry or leave fuel in them and just start them once a month. I do not want the metering diaphragms to become stiff or have a carb rebuild. The 562xpg as you know uses autotune and the 435 is a regular carburetor. Both saws are just passed break-in with about 10 - 15 tanks of refills. Thanks, I have no idea what is best, still noobish. But they are as clean as the day I bought them.

    • @TheGreasyShopRag
      @TheGreasyShopRag  11 місяців тому

      I run canned fuel in that last tank before storage and forget about it. Been working well for me and my customers.

    • @elitelifex2934
      @elitelifex2934 11 місяців тому

      @@TheGreasyShopRag thanks, that helps, I only use canned Husqvarna xp fuel. Hey do you drain them dry of just leave canned fuel in them. It has a long storage.

    • @TheGreasyShopRag
      @TheGreasyShopRag  11 місяців тому

      @@elitelifex2934 I leave the fuel in the equipment for sure if it has a metering diaphragm. If its a motorcycle with a float bowl then I run the bike on the canned fuel and then drain it. Then I roll the bike into the living room 🙂

    New sub. Thanks for the replacement info. There's also an adjustment screw on the bottom. Thetes a Pic of an oil drop with a + and - in the plastic. I think the screw may have fell out of mine. I put on a longer bar n want more oil.

    • @TheGreasyShopRag
      @TheGreasyShopRag  8 місяців тому

      Its annoying that they have that adjustment symbol stamped in there. That saw doesn't come with an adjustable oiler. The good news is that there isn't a missing screw in your oil pump.
