Well worth the effort of doing the conversion. I fitted an M57N and 6HP from a 2005 E53 X5 into my L322 about 18 months ago. It completely transformed the car. Wiring the DDE5 electronics into the DDE4 on the car probably needed the most thinking about, but simple enough once I'd worked it out. I have a digital copy of my wiring notes available.
iam using m57n2 with aluminium block and piezo injectors 231hp engine with makes things a lot harder. are u willing to share ur wiring infos ? this could actually help a lot ?
Sehr cooles Projekt!
Very cool project, I’m planning to do a similar project, so this is very helpful, thank You for doing it. But why didn’t You use the old engine with new injectors, fuel pump, turbines, gearbox? The old m57 iron block is really sturdy. I heard new equipment fits well with the old block. And how are You planning to make the electric part to work with the 6 speed?
You got a good point there but the old engine is a narrow block m57 and the 6speed transmissios dont bolt on the narrow block m57 the best engine u can use for this swap ist iron block m57 from e60 bmw with 218hp i think cause that engine will fit plug and play with engine mounts etc u dont have the hustle like i do with fabricating a lot of custom parts
@@garage.86 In my country I can have problems using an engine block from another car, so I need to use the old block. I would like to swap my GM 5l40e for a ZF 6spd. I thought it’s a bolt-on swap. I will do it when my GM gearbox fails. While it’s fine, I’ll stick to it, i think.
Unfortunately not iam doing the build outside i dont have a garage and we have a lot of snow here but iam doing my best to continue whenever i can thanks for watching ! :)
@@garage.86 oh thanks alot, didnt pop out at first for some reason. Did you get the wiring diagram, because planing to do the same, that would realy help
Hi. Great idea, did I understand correctly that problems with the automatic transmission arose after replacing the turbine? how do you plan to combine the zf with the original transfer case?
Cause the older m57 as in the l322 stock are narrow block m57 und the gear box bolt patter is smaller so u are not able to bolt the 6 speed on stock engine but more about that in part 2
Looking forward to the upcoming videos and fault finding and overcoming the different fittings..I've still got my stock range rover with the m57..its definitely life in the sloow lane..
@@RCC9 there will be an update soon iam in the middle of moving to a whole new country so i dont had a lot time to work on the car but mechanically everything is installed now i need to make it work electrically

Does that mean you made it rear wheel drive? Do you know if the ZF box will fit on the original L322 M57?
@daslandroverman would u mind sharing your notes with me ? Thinking about doing the swap too
Fantastic, would I be able to have your contact to ask you a question and get a copy of the wiring diagram too please? Thanks!
Was it a straight forward fit into the l322 just the wires to modify? I really need someone to do this for mine.
Can't wait for part 2. Nice work guys 💪🏻
Thank you 🙌

Good work on this, any update at all as I'd love to see how this goes as the gearbox alone is a piece of rubbish in the original 5speed guise.
Superb. Any update on this project.?
Born in 86, i drive a L322 M57.
Really nice ! Waiting for ep 2 !

I wpuld like to swap a m5 engine in my range Rover
Hi.
Great idea, did I understand correctly that problems with the automatic transmission arose after replacing the turbine? how do you plan to combine the zf with the original transfer case?
there is an adapter from syncro gearboxes sou can bolt the stock transfercase to the new zf 6 speed
Why wouldn’t the zf6 bolt onto the original m57? Dont they make a bracket to bolt it on or is the zf6 box totally different.
I’m following this as it’s always been in my mind to put a zf6 box in this l322 it would be a perfect car then.
Cause the older m57 as in the l322 stock are narrow block m57 und the gear box bolt patter is smaller so u are not able to bolt the 6 speed on stock engine but more about that in part 2
