    Very nice. An understated package of specs and finishes that just works. There's a pleasing, but hard to describe, almost 'creamy' quality to the sound of the pickups. But that color ... wow. It's a color that doesn't shout, "Look at me!" and yet you somehow can't stop looking at it.

    Pixxy i'm surprised this didn't have the string pull down bar on the headstock to assist in keeping it in tune. I know you have done a excellent video on this subject. I'm familiar with the struggle to keep these styles of guitars in tune.

    • @raytorvalds3699
      @raytorvalds3699 Місяць тому +1

      The string retainer after the locking nut is only there so they won't go sharp after tightening the locking nut clamps.
      It has nothing do with tuning stability. I did add one to my Dinky, though, for that reason.
      Plus I think it looks cool :) Peace.

    Nice guitar, but I wish that Jackson actually offered shark fin inlays for non-signature model Dinkys and Soloists in the Pro / Pro Plus series. They haven't had them since Jackson moved those models manufacturing from Japan to Indonesia and Mexico after 2011 / 2012. Although it looks like they have a new shattered mirror Pro Plus Soloist coming out with sharkfins, so maybe Jackson will do more Pro models with them? I've basically avoided the current Pro series because of that. All of the Jacksons I've bought in the past several years have been the old MIJ models or the old USA series.

    Looks okay and like always, you make these axes sing. I just can’t get behind the idea of a $1200 bolt on neck guitar made in China when you can still get MIJ Ibanez Genesis for $1k and under all day long. $1000-1400 is mint used Ibanez Prestige, ESP Standard/E-II or Jackson’s/Charvel’s very own MJ model territory. You can even get USA Select models in the wild for that much. Not saying this guitar isn’t well built but it certainly won’t hold its value like the similar guitars I mentioned. To each their own though.

    • @tankdarla637
      @tankdarla637 3 дні тому

      first of all its a Jackson, I hardly ever see a used ESP any model for $1200 , Also the Dinky is a bolt on model, if you want neck thru you can get a soloist starting at like $600 brand new, a pro plus soloist should be very close to the price of a pro plus dinky...they are almost always on sale somewhere for around $1g also

    • @solidus317
      @solidus317 2 дні тому

      @@tankdarla637 look harder? I’m in the U.S. and I have several Japanese ESP Standard and E-II purchased recently for $1200 or under. There’s a mint USA Select Charvel SoCal in my local shop. I got my Ibanez’s Prestige 5120m with case brand new for $1500 out the door. Heck, if you’re willing to save a little, I got my 8520GE J Custom brand new for $2k even!
      I know the diff between a dinky and soloist. I have Japanese DK2m that I’ve owned since 2006 and a DKR, and an USA Dk1 and a handful of Charvels. I also have a one of the newer USA production SL3 soloists that I got lightly used locally for $1300. I’ve got some of the recent ish cheaper models like the import Chris Broderick soloist and the Phil Demmel sig(hard tail). It’s not a matter of knowing the product range, or having the means to get any of these things mentioned. I’m only listing what I have to demonstrate that I actually own the things and have experience with what I’m speaking about. I’m saying you can get better built guitars with better materials that hold their value better than these max profit Chinese ones. Yea a good player can make them sound good as I said in my original comment, just not a good investment in my opinion. If you wanna pay yesterday’s high end Korean/Japanese/USA prices for cheap labor Chinese ones with basic features that no one’s going to buy if you decide you no longer want it then be my guest.

    That... is gorgeous! I have a Jackson JS32 DKA. It's a decent guitar for what I paid for it. I only got it for something to modify the p*ss out of without worrying about detracting from the value. I have a couple other vintage Gibsons that I bought new in 1980 and have owned for 44 years. A 1980 Flying V2 and a 1978 25/50 Anniversary Les Paul. Can't do anything to those.
    Anyway, my dream guitar for many years has been an Ernie Ball Musicman John Petrucci Signature Majesty. I am wondering if I might have to reconsider that choice. And only $999! Considerably less than a Majesty. I wonder if I could ask a couple questions about your Jackson...?
    The tremolo/bridge on my JS32 is a "Jackson by Floyd Rose". I'm guessing the one on yours is an actual Floyd Rose piece. That is obviously one of the items I want to upgrade. The floating tremolo is actually pretty good on my JS32. With the locking nut, it stays in tune quite well regardless of how you abuse it. However, the fine tuners are cr*p. They feel like they will strip out or cross thread at any moment. This will be the very first thing that gets upgraded.
    Your guitar appears to have the stock Jackson tuning heads. Are they any good? The stock Jackson tuning heads on my JS32 are... not very good, to say the least. I think the only reason I don't have constant issues with them is because of the locking nut, so the tuners are actually rarely used. Bu they just have a cheap feel to them. I will definitely upgrade those.
    I have the stock Jackson pickups in mine. They are actually not terrible. I will probably upgrade to DiMarzio's or Duncans at some point but it's not a big priority.
    How are the frets on that one? I had to totally rework my frets when I got the guitar. They were so rough that it was almost unplayable. I got them smoothed out, but I still feel like the frets are an issue. Do you know what size the frets are on that guitar? I feel like these are just too small. Like, when I do a bend, I can feel the string dragging on the fretboard itself because the frets aren't high enough. I mean, I'm not even remotely close to being a guitar virtuoso so maybe I'm just not doing it right LOL.
    Anyway, beautiful guitar. I might own one someday.

    If a guitar were a Lamborghini it could catch on fire and constantly need expensive servicing. Why would anyone want that?
