If you didn't notice while black Swan 🦢 dancing with Acheron she was getting eaten by a Snake and when she is trying to Escape she just turns into skeleton 😭... That was Insane.

The most terrifying thing is that Acheron didn’t even really do much if anything at all, it was just Black Swan getting terrified by Acheron’s memories and the dance getting a little more intense but it didn’t seem like Acheron had any ill intentions.

Black Swan saw Acheron's memories of killing the invaders on her hopeless planet to the point it was all predator or prey to her, till these laws of nature didn't matter once the shadow of nihility engulfted her planet, the twin planet where the invaders come from and herself

@@soareciinumint5341viper is just symbolism for a predator/hunter. There is also a black hole in the short, which is a direct refrence to IX, the aeon of nihility. Also, if we check the lore, the aeon of voracity has nothing to do with acheron. The only two possible aeons she can follow are either nihility or finality

There was a whole cool animated short introducing and showcasing Duke Ifrit and the Annihilation Gang, a whole 'family' of cartoonishly evil individuals - firery bone devils, brash pirates, living marionettes and conniving traitors, showing their invitation to Penacony and vowing to bring fire and destruction to the Dream.
Many people were very eager to see them in game, and... Well, let's say Acheron barely even remembers meeting them.

@@weertangel7231 Not all. They have only claimed Duke Inferno as dead. They have specifically mentioned that the rest of them scattered. So at the moment, we don't know exactly who DID survive, but we do know that only Duke Inferno is confirmed dead.

@@georgieegamesfunny thing is... It's kind of both in a way. turns out, Acheron LIKED the dance, and wants to do it again. Meanwhile, Black Swan is like "not gonna try rooting through *her* memories again". Turns out Acheron is traumatized as hell, is a force of *nature*, and completely dismantled the Annihilation Gang solo for her invitation to the gala. She took theirs.

“An extremely elegant and dignified woman, I will have to remember her kind invitation, that dance... made me feel intimate and nostalgic.”

The gay energy didn't stop with the trailer and the trauma.

5:25 I think to Acheron, the Annihilation gang is just a drop of the sea of people she killed so for her, they're just "those guys"
That just reminded me of the black swan's quote "That menacing infernal fire absorbed by the vast profound sea, and that sea dwells on the planet of festivities"
It's like a self-defense mechanism of Acheron's mind, maybe that also explains her forgetfulness.
Acheron is the emanator of Fuck Around and Find Out. She is 100% Don't Give A Fuck or 100% Gives All The Fucks, with no in-between.
That said, I consider Black Swan the more interesting character in the trailer. She is smug, charismatic, sensual and has total confidence sifting through the memories of even a person she suspects is very dangerous-memories are after all her arena. She just didn't expect to gaze into an abyss that not only gazed back, but pulled her in and sneered at her pathetic attempts to escape.
The dance is Black Swan taking delight in her dominance of the mind and memories, teasing out whatever she is curious about. When she gets closer to Finding Out and Acheron gets less passive, she is even more interested (1:35). Eventually, they are equally matched (2:16) and Black Swan is forced to actually ask what Acheron has done. The Acheron of what should be the passive past glares back and says:
"Bitch, could you not?"
Apparently Acheron takes offense to uninvited guests poking through her mind, and boy did Black Swan FIND OUT

There is a lore/theory video by catwithbluehat that says that Acheron is probably an emanator of nihility and maybe even a self annihilator. Which means she doesn't really have her memories anymore and when Black Swan got close to the memory of Duke inferno she got a glimpse at nihility itself, which almost made her lose her existence since black Swan herself is an entity without a real body (official info by hoyoverse)

Yes, we can connect that and the trailer, and it makes sense now. Acheron is probably the strongest character lorewise. It’s best for nameless not to go against her.
That would also explain why looking into her past was so traumatic because coming into contact with the nihility is a death sentence

Honestly, the horror is perfection! The twist and reveal that came all of a sudden that just made this into a masterpiece.

Whatever’s going on with Acheron seems to directly affect her memories, something that’s not ideal for a memory-reader like Black Swan.
For sure! There is definitely something either defending those memories or acheron was aware of what black swan was doing and didn't react well! absolutely incredible animation work!
It's because of her ties to IX (the Aeon of Annihilation). She's their emanator. Followers of IX have terrible memories because IX is a black hole that swallows everything (including their followers memories).

Black Swan has the ability to make someone lose their memories, but once they’re out of her presence, they’d gain their memories back
great reaction! acheron is indeed very terrifying and i can't wait to learn more about her. btw for the better understanding about who the annihilation gang is you need to watch a myriad celestia trailer "a night of ever-flame: scene 33" about them. i also recomend watching all the myriad celestia trailers cause they are very important to the lore as well as the animated shorts

Fun thing to note. At the end of the dance, Black Swan has gone completely limp. Meaning that, even though she survived, and seemingly got away from Acheron's mind, the only reason that she hasn't collapsed is because Acheron STILL has a grip on her. So even though Black Swan gave absolutely everything that she had, just to get away from Acheron and survive, she actually failed. Since Acheron still hunted her down and caught her, even out of the mind scape.
Which only makes Black Swan's terror at the end even more valid, since a character that was introduced to seem almost untouchable, literally couldn't even get away from Acheron, without Acheron just letting her
Also, Acheron's relationship to the Annihilation gang is actually pretty simple. The current head of the Annihilation gang is named Duke Inferno, and he is a, seemingly, immortal flame being.
Acheron killed him.

Its INCREDIBLE how terrifying they made Acheron without us really even seeing it first hand, A+++++++ trailer. Acheron was already becoming my favorite Star Rail character just based on tidbits we got during 2.0, then I liked her even more after the 2.1 livestream, and this solidified her as my favorite current character HANDS DOWN. The voice actresses killed it, the dance was beautiful and horrifying, the imagery in the second half was peak. They absolutely popped off on this, I've been dying for like 3 hours now lmfao, we are being fed so well
You probably were already spoiled and will probably forget it, when you reach Penacony: That Duke Inferno is dead and got killed by Archeron is kind of a big spoiler. They were so hyped up with their own trailer and you even fight Duke Inferno (indirectly) in a sidequest. Everyone expected them to totally wreck Penacony to just be killed beforehand.
Acheron & Black Swan animated short description talking about Japanese themed dual planets in HSR "Izumo Gensai and Takama Divine Realm" (the new Planer Set lore):
"The dual planets were intertwined in each other's tragic destiny, dancing an eternal rondo around a pitch-black great sun.

About the name... Izumo is a place in real Japan (reference to City of izumo) and Gensei can mean something like 'Original' or "Present/Living World" (its like a title), i can guess.
The latter's name is also very clearly a reference to Takamagahara, land of the heavenly gods in Japanese Shinto myth.
In Japanese mythology, Takamagahara (高天原, "Plane of High Heaven" or "High Plane of Heaven", also read as Takaamanohara, Takamanohara, Takaamagahara, or Takaamahara), but same thing.
So its like: "A divide between the mortal and divine realm".
"Gensei no izumo to taka-ama no shinkoku".
Real question - "which is which", cus it's interesting that the divide in this planar isn't between, heaven and hell, nothing as that, it's between humans and gods.
"Izumo Gensai and Takama Divine Realm" relic Planet Set is for DPS and will release in 2.1 with in the Simulated Universe 'World 9 Update' btw.
There is also... rumors about Japanese Planet "called" "Red (Aka-i)" but i don't know if it would be connected.
@@georgieegames And more for the Honkai lore, I can talk without spoilers (things you don't yet know) and that what i think in speculation:
Since i read the lore sometime ago and didn't read the actual actual story yet, after reading other comments i also remembered that 'Acheron' origin could also possibly be the reiteration of 'Honkai Gakuen: GGZ (or "Honkai 2" that comes before "HI3") bubble "universe" Hokushin Mei (Hokushin Yayi), which is a different person (the Ancestral 'Mei figure' that later changed her name for Raiden) that come before but pretty much even have similarities with HI3 Mei's as well. They also share the similarities in some artwork themes and details that was shown on stream.
Acheron probably lost her friends and loved once, and then something happened to the planets. HSR alternative version of Hokushin Mei would be post version of GGZ events where things, lets say, didnt go for the best, while all core lore characters where involved (like DR.MEI, Kiana, Mei, etc) too.
Everything repeats it's course with The Imaginary Tree (The UNIVERSE), in one way or another, like a Samsara, so we already have all Mei's versions assigned by the writers for the storyline in HSR too:
Dr.MEI = Ruan Mei, the name comes from parents, so its like different person but the similar character aspects and role " crucial researcher" essentially.
Hakushin Mei (Hakushin Yayi) \ Raiden Mei = Acheron. Not really Mei, but Mei at the same time in HSR.
Now, where Mei goes there is usually can be a 'Kiana'. I suspect that the answer to where her HSR version would be also similar to GGZ - after all Hoyo did hidden, changed and retconned (like for example in HSR Concept Trailer Reburn 2 we see the HI3 Calore girl with Welt, ready to breach the Imaginary Tree on 2nd Divine Key Train - Space Juggernaut, but MHY later did rethink it, and Carlole with Reburn 2 for HSR also probably got retconned cus of new GGZ and HSR relation or something, doubt its just cus it was conceptual) many things as of now with Honkai to probably reuse it in the lore and stories later on, like Hoyo do.
For HSR my two cents theory is that HSR "Acheron's" "Kiana is somehow now an Aoen or higher being that she is practically dead in normal terms. Or... absolutely dead, yep.
“Can she cook” - is also important question from Hoyo addressed on the stream, it was usually Kiana who 'guided' Mei to start cooking more. Therefore, for example in Genshin, maybe its additional reason why another different iteration of Mei, that is Ei - can’t cook (and she only tries to be closer to Unknown Goddess and HevPrin). Them adding the “Can she cook” question on stream is probably going to be important, but who knows.
As Shaoji talked in the stream about how HSR is a "Honkai series" game and "Honkai Universe", and long time fans will be surprised and will have feelings of nostalgia, while its still will be just as interesting for new fans too. So, i think its like both HG:GGZ and HI3 are being referenced with the parallels from the lore how in the new Planer Set.
That would be extended speculation.

This has been long awaited for me. I knew the story was getting darker but I think everyone has been waiting for it to really drop, and if this is any indication of where the story is heading, then I am strapped in. This animation exceeded all expectations and was utterly shocking.
Also I was already planning on whaling for Acheron, hoyo really didn't have to do this

@@georgieegames To clarify, it's a trailer about the sub-faction of Annihilation Gang that we (semi) directly interact with in-game. The Annihilation Gang as a whole is just a blanket name covering many loosely connected individual groups that happen to worship Nanook and follow the Path of Destruction but are unwilling to join the Anti-Matter Legion.
My god, this was absolutely incredible. I was so giddy for first half, GO LESBIANS GO, then the sudden dark switch. Doomed yuri. Incredible animation.

The Annihilation Gang was set up to be the next grand crew of villains for the story, getting multiple trailers to tease them and everything. And Acheron has dispatched them so easily that she doesn't even remember them. She's a force none of us can even comprehend yet.
Let me give you a bit of context and lore. You see, there's a theory that she's an emanator of nihility...
Each pathstriders has a faction, for example the elation, they're called the masked fools like sparkles and sampo, for remembrance, they're called the garden of recollection, some of them are memokeepers just like blackswan, for preservation, they're the IPC like aventurine and topaz. You get the idea, now for IX [aeon of nihility], yes "IX" is the name of the aeon of nilihity, it has a faction called self-annilihator and acheron are theorized to be one of them.
Emanators are kinda like same with pathstriders but with much higher sense beliefs on the path they've chosen, for example the emanator of erudition is herta, one of the emanator of destruction is phantylia (a lord ravager) and acheron which to be suspected as the emanator of nihility.
In the lore, self-annilihitors are kinda like slowly dying or something, its quite hard to understand, if you want to know more about self-annilihitors and the aeon itself, you can read it in the index on herta's office, from what I remembered self-annihilitor's memories are distorted and slowly fading away thus why acheron is forgetful most of the time, self-annilihitors are slowly fading away until they are taken to the blackhole which you see in the animation, that blackhole is IX itself. Remember the blackswan myriad celestia trailer? At the end where she was reading the card then suddenly the card of duke inferno disintegrated, which could've foreshadowed that he got killed off screen.
Some parts of what I said about the lore of IX and the self-annilihitors may slightly be inaccurate but thats basically nihility in a nutshell

It was so beautiful and incredible! I just experienced the whole range of emotions. At the same time, all these emotions, even negative ones, were pleasant to me.
That's for sure the Animators tried their best.
By the way, the moment when the screen changes to black and red. I had a feeling that there was a second personality living inside Acheron. Some kind of monster that destroys everyone who tries to look at it. Because I had a strong feeling that the Swan was on the verge of death. Well, it's not for nothing that we were shown a lot of miniatures in the background where a predator runs after prey. And as we know Hoyo. They don't just show anything in their videos. And the annihilation team. They were so weak for Acheron that she didn't even remember them. It's incredibly creepy! It still gives me the creeps.
I loved this animation short so much! I think most people who watched it never expect the dark turn it got by the end, almost everybody watched the teaser for the animation that showed them dancing and they were expecting only the shippin content, but the trailer delivered so much, also the text in the description of the animation is incredible.

Hoyoverse REALLY loves this character, makes sense for a Raiden expy. She's got fire animations, a cool design and all this extra content outside of the game.

I think you know Raiden Mei, (the original, from Honkai Impact) and Raiden Ei (the Shogun), this animated short actually has a whole mini short story in the description about where this version seems to be from that raises so many questions :)

Black Swan began the dance and Acheron ended it, turning the tables in a way that horrified Black Swan so much that you can visibly and audibly hear her fear which is so rare to see in Black Swan. Also the fact that Acheron seems to think it was just a dance, and was unaware that Black Swan had delved into her mind so deeply.

I think the 'crows' were suppose to be wings of Swan and it basically represents blackswan which is what her name means lol and she tried to escape but as shown in the background the serpent managed to capture the Swan and secure its prey which is blackswan

During the livestream the devs were teasing that Archeron has a connection to Raiden Mei from Honkai Impact 3rd and that she might actually BE Mei.
Her gameplay is insane as well and i will definitely pull for her, i mean, her field ability(Technique) allows her to kill trash mobs without having to fight them!
And thats just the tip of the iceberg trust me, her Ultimate will definitely remind u of this animated short.

All that action and to even think that black swan who is basicly a memory witch w/o a body doesn't have any defenses against a violation of a "innocent" prey is very crazy with the level of intrution that was turned against black swan. And black swan isn't the represontation if death, she only reprosents memories.

My biggest disappointment is that Duke Inferno was killed like that, but I hope it's worth Acheron as a character.

Acheron killed Duke inferno and his children are currently hiding. Ifrit and his children were guests from the anihillation gang faction who were also invited to penacony for charmany festival. Acheron basically killed him took his invitation and posed as a galaxy Ranger to get inside penacony. Black Swan here was interrogating Acheron as to how, why and when she killed Duke Inferno.
What black swan didn't expect was who acheron really is. It scared her so bad that she had to ask for IPCs coorporation in finding out more about acheron.

I know everyone's talking about BS having rizz, but tbh Acheron was so disinterested the entire time it looks like she'd accept anyone's invitation lol. I still expect a Kiana or Kevin expy to show up and be shipped with her way more than BS, especially since BS is so terrified of her

@@georgieegames KevinxDr.Mei and KevinxMei in GGZ was fairly cute tbh for what little they've shown. Interestingly the one difference in the relationships is that with Kiana Mei didn't take her quite as seriously but prioritizes Kiana more than Kiana does Mei, while with Kevin he prioritizes MEI more than MEI does to him even though she seems to reciprocate his feelings faster.
Personally BS's smug/suspicious smile was easily the most untrustworthy thing i've seen coming out of penacony, and that's saying a lot given Aventurine's personality and Sparkle's craziness lol

I just love it when the majority of the fandom tries so hard to see sexual tension between them when it's really only a facade on both (mostly on BS's) sides with BS subtly trying to tap into Acheron's memories and the latter definitely not interested in any way.
