It's just a shame, some of them, if not ALL of them, are pretty heckin' confusing if you just watch them with no context. They're certainly worth seeing because they're all so good, but it's like coming into episode 9 of any anime and trying to figure out the plot. Like you get /the idea/ of them all. Like for the Firefly one, yeah they're all fighting "bugs", but it makes more sense why it's so serious when you know what the bugs are. There's like 1 key bit of info that isn't disclosed in all the animations.(since all the animations come after you'd learn the info from a previous reveal)

Obvious from the fight as well and that she will always be his master. The tree in the flashbacks is much bigger when when see YangYang. YangYang gives the same promise, unknowingly, to Yuan when he says "I won't hold back." The same promise Yuan had to make. Can also see the Lightning Lord sweeping his sword down at Jing Liu possibly signifying that Yuan has surpassed his master though not by martial capabilities. Jing Liu ends up smiling during the attack of the LL, though she might have gone mad, to be released from it and be beaten seems to fill her with joy and snap her back to reality for a quick second. Tale of Two Dragons: The Fox Girl is Bailu. It's complicated but the sin that Blade and Dan Feng commited was, I might be hazy on this, but they were the cause of Bailu's life and they tried to bring her back? That is why she is a dragon. Also, there is a story, not sure where, but Jing Liu had to destroy a monster that I believe was Bailu before Bailu was reincarnated. Could be wrong but I think thats the jist of it. Rondo: Black Swan is a memokeeper, an entity, that collects memories and reads them. She is trying to read Acherons past not know she is an Emenator of Nihility. Black Swan came VERY CLOSE to not existing anymore, being swallowed up by the void and only by Acherons mercy she was allowed to exist. Rondo exemplifies the saying, "Stare at the void long enough and it will stare back." Embers of Glamoth: Firefly was apart of the Iron Calvary. They are clones, from the DNA of the "Empress" but the empress really doesn't exist in that capacity. They are taught a lie to give them something to live for. All the clones are young, they have a built in destruction button that after a certain time period they will fall apart basically. This to keep them from starting an uprising. The Glamoth war against the Swarm happened thousands of years ago so Firefly has been floating in space for an untold amount of time.
5:33 that fox Girl is Baiheng, shes a NPC at this time, but there is a "lookalike" teased for i think 2.5 If you pay close attention what is going on in the New Year one, you notice that they explain the entire Loufu Story Quest what we played the Dance Short, well when you peer into a black hole you just get consumed, Black swan tried to get infos out of Acheron but looked to deep into her mind and well the hunter became the prey thats why you see a featherless swan and the snake, or the other visuals Firefly and the SAMs are fighting even without glamoth because they are programmed to elimiate the swarm i dont know if you heard from Honkai Impact but these Animation shorts go even harder (at least for me) but these are a bit complicated to understand because there is story between them And Honkai Impact has the only "Anime" of sorts , which is nothing like the animation shorts because they a Cozy funny version Its called "Cooking with Valkyries" I would recommend that you watch the Concert too, i know its 2hours long but they do a lot of OSTs, Boss fight musics and trailer musics, but i understand if you are not interested

It's really unique with high production value) Clockie cartoon (an in universe cartoon episode about Clockie, a mascot character for penacony. Basically a homege to old American cartoons like Tom and Jerry and the original mickey mouse. Also really high production value)
You can actually get the derpy profile pic you saw in the chat with Kafka by finding all seven wanted posters in the Belobog city area ("50 Credits?" Achievement). Fun fact: Gepard canonicaly drew the derpy ones ( ￣▽￣)
MiHoYo is /very/ good at telling a story in a short-format. Honkai Impact 3rd did it. Each of the 'capstone' animations that act as the finales for the various arcs, can be watched stand-alone, and you'll get most of what's going on from context inside the animation itself. If you get the surrounding context from playing/watching others play the story around the animations, it only ADDS to it. The same goes for Star Rail so far. As for them just making animes, they have done a few, mostly surrounding HI3rd. Cooking with Valkyries, and ELF Academy, which are very cutesy and slice-of-life ones that are semi-to-non-canon.
i havent seen it mentioned but the one with the lion and dragon dance shows the friendship between dan heng and ying yuan. it shows the beginning being happy and carefree until the previous iteration of imbitor lunae betrayed the loufu. The end being the forgiveness and reignited friendship of both of them. Dan heng representing the dragon and Ying Yuan representing the lion.
Once you cought up with the penacony story (most recent planet), and only then, I highly recommend you to check out the star rail live concert if you haven't already. It went pretty hard. Reason why you should do it after the story, is because it contains spoilers for some really cool stuff.
You should also do the Honkai Impact animation shorts and operation center shorts too since its really cool lore that gets referenced in Honkai Star Rail and some of the references actually make some story arcs way deeper than it is, you don't need to know any Honkai Impact lore to enjoy Star Rail since it is it's own game just that Hoyoverse throws in crumbs for the Honkai Impact players. Honkai Impact was basically Hoyoverse's golden child and basically is the father of Genshin and Star Rail, Honaki Impact will share more similarities as Star Rail since I believe it's one of the alternate verses created from Honkai Impact.

Its a big spoiler tho, but some of the stuff can be hard to find because its in the relics description and planar set descriptions. | | | | | SPOILER AHEAD! | | | | | First of all, the Glamoth is not an Empire to start with, its a Republic State. Firefly, and everyone else you see in the battlefield is the clone of 'the Empress' which, to be honest, isn't even an 'Empress' to begin with. These clone soldiers, however, were born from the same person's DNA, probably from the true leader of the Glamoth Republic. However, the reason why their battle chant is, "For Glamoth, For the Empress!", was because they were brainwashed into thinking they're fighting for the Empire. They also put some sort of limiter into these clone's body to avoid them from escaping into the reality, thus why you see from the character trailer for Firefly, there's a scene of SAM still talking about the Iron Cavalry of Glamoth Empire, and their purpose. And that is why you see them still fighting for Glamoth even though its already destroyed, its not that they don't want to, but because that is the only thing they know and able to do. In this animated short---this is my own take btw---they show us the moment Firefly probably escaped from the limiter put into her body and thus how she's able to fight again, and even survived it at the end of that short. BTW!! The Kafka's scene looking at Firefly in the space is supposed to be ten of thousands of year after she destroyed the planet, because the war with the Swarm (those beetles enemies you see), as well as the destruction of Glamoth Republic, was recorded to be ten of thousands of years into the past in the current game's timeline. So yeah, Firefly has been floating in the space for hundred of centuries before the Stellaron Hunter (Kafka's team) found her and recruited her.

This is where all my money went, I guess. Worth it. I love the Acheron one. Black Swan thought Acheron was some naive girl out of her depth, and made the mistake of looking in her head and finding out she was trying to rizz one of the most powerful being in the galaxy.
I hope you were warned about the countless spoilers in those and are ok with getting things spoiled that would be so much more impactful when experienced at the right time.

That is in fact why it is by far the easiest to understand and feel deeply moved by without any context, since it is the only one which assumes no context. The rest, as you note, have a certain amount of spoilers.
@@rowanmales3430 it's also at least minor spoilers for Jingliu, because you then already somewhat know who she is and what she is capable of when you first meet her. I have seen it again recently and knowing who she is clearly changes how you experience that scene.
@@fleup3870 I have the opposite impression though. We get to see barely any Jingliu in the story, so the introduction/mystery has to be done much faster in the story. This is accomplished well. It makes the opening scene with Yanqing much more obviously tension filled as you already know she is the previous sword master when Yanqing hasn't made that connection. It also makes understanding Jingliu's condition, her blindfold, and the difficulty/tenuousness of her remaining mentally stable all the more potent as you are questioning how she is even still alive or sane. There is simply a lot of subtext seeing this short can provide to her introduction on the Luofu. Seeing any of the other ones in advance might have some negative drawbacks (with the possible exception of the Annihilation Gang introduction video), but not this one.

Coming from someone who stopped playing right before Penacony......spoilers dont really mean anything without context 🤷♂️ive seen these and i still dont really know whats going on
@@basilisk..they mean something as soon as you reach specific parts in the story. The ones about Dan Heng, Jingliu and Firefly completely spoil their character's introductions and plot twists.
@@fleup3870 Jingliu's one explicitly does not. It was released before HSR so it was expected to be experienced beforehand. That is in fact why it is by far the easiest to understand and feel deeply moved by without any context, since it is the only one which assumes no context. The rest, as you note, have a certain amount of spoilers.
@@rowanmales3430 it's also at least minor spoilers for Jingliu, because you then already somewhat know who she is and what she is capable of when you first meet her. I have seen it again recently and knowing who she is clearly changes how you experience that scene.
@@fleup3870 I have the opposite impression though. We get to see barely any Jingliu in the story, so the introduction/mystery has to be done much faster in the story. This is accomplished well. It makes the opening scene with Yanqing much more obviously tension filled as you already know she is the previous sword master when Yanqing hasn't made that connection. It also makes understanding Jingliu's condition, her blindfold, and the difficulty/tenuousness of her remaining mentally stable all the more potent as you are questioning how she is even still alive or sane.
There is simply a lot of subtext seeing this short can provide to her introduction on the Luofu. Seeing any of the other ones in advance might have some negative drawbacks (with the possible exception of the Annihilation Gang introduction video), but not this one.
