Shades State Park | In Indiana

- This hiking trip through Shades State Park in Indiana was a fantastic time! It was filled with awesome trails and some neat rock formations created via glaciers and water erosion over time. This park is just up the road from Turkey Run State Park, so make sure you hit up both if you are in the area!
Shades State Park has plenty of hiking, picnic areas, and you can even take a trip down the beautiful sugar creek. (Don't drink the water!) Shades State Park is one of my favorites in Indiana and would recommend it to anyone visiting the area.

DnSAdventures Just outside of Carmel, on a housing complex I'd never seen the like of before....its own swimming pool, gym room...Thought I'd gone to heaven, until we were almost hit by a tornado!! 😉 ..Can't believe I remembered that! It was over 20 years ago! 😁

Yeah! Mrs Metalman was over the moon you were wearing sandals, which she prefers to wear all the time but gets a lot of stick from some people. Nice trail to reach the creek and if it was warm, I would have been straight in there for a wild swim. Man, you like them stirs on your recent hikes lol, cheers Alan
Lol! Deanna and I both prefer our hiking sandals when we can get away with them. There have also been situations I've worn them and was getting a tad concerned I'd twist my ankle though lol. That was a huge covered bridge. I've drove through Indiana and alls I remember our farm fields...so very cool you found this state park. That little canyon looked like a lot of fun, and the view at the end was great!

Looks like an amazing place to hike! It really does look like a place where there would be tons of mosquitoes. We had a lot on our trip to Charlottesville recently. So much rain = so many mosquitoes!
It really is, especially when you put on bug spray first haha. Stinks that the mosquitoes are getting you all as well! I always forget how bad bugs are once summer rolls back around lol. Have a great week guys - Shane

DnSAdventures I actually was born in Terre Haute and lived in Prairie Creek. 15 min from town. Real country area. When I took Alli to see where I grew up she was like “man, you weren’t kidding. You really lived out in the country!” I still miss it though.

Chickery's Travels Haha, we are what we eat right? Apparently mosquitoes like sugar. :) While we were down there it was in the 80s to lower 90s so had to be careful with Blaze. :) Now in the UP, so much cooler lol. Thanks for watching guys! - Shane
