- Assassin's Creed Shadows, formerly known as Assassin's Creed Red, is the newest entry into the Assassin's Creed universe from Ubisoft that is scheduled to release on November 15th! In this reaction video we watch Assassin's Creed Shadows story trailer for the first time and learn that we are headed to Feudal Japan during its unification period and we will get to play as two characters: a Naoe a Shinobi Assassin and Yasuke an iconic Samurai!

The ubisoft director said we get to choose and switch on who we want to play and that each character are diffrent with naoe in stealh and yasuke as the warrior and that they are place were the samurai cant climb and you need naoe because she got the grapling hooh and wen there a lot of enemies in combact that you need yasuke brawl

@@LiteWeightGaming what’s even crazier is that this game takes place about 50 years after Ezio’s death. Also, Ezio trained Chinese Assassin Shao Jun in 1524 shortly before his death. Makes you wonder if the Japanese Brotherhood will mention him at all!

When i heard Ezio family theme at the end i really got goosebump !!! Naoe will be my new favorite Female Assassins along side with Evie !! But i hope they do it like Valhalla or Odyssey when you can choose your favorite with the same story !! Not like syndicate when you have seperate missions with Evie or Jacob to do !

It took me about a year in a half to get through all of the main story assassins creed games. I thought they burned me out of story driven games because nothings gotten my attention. Mariage didn't even get me to excited... Probably because of who the protagonist was.... BUT THIS. Oh man I cannot wait. And this will be the only trailer I watch. I want to be surprised about anything and everything in the game lol. Also, I'm so glad we have the same reaction to hearing Ezio's family theme. Sooo many people are tired of hearing it so your reaction made me happy to know I'm not alone XD

I will most likely buy this because it’s feudal Japan, in order for Ubisoft to nail this 3 things need to happen, A Saitō clan reference, an Akechi clan reference and a boss fight at honnoji temple
I am so hype for this game as this might be a theory of mine that this game is influenced by the FX series Shōgun and let us play as two different characters within the same group but different motivations within the characters. Like our Samurai character is based on a real life story that his story is very unique with a crazy story. While our Assassin Character is being a daughter of a real life person. Her story going to be very interesting to play or watch.
So I hope the game goes well and the musical score be a great addition to this era of music.

It's definitely giving Syndicate but better because they will actually play significantly different. I actually love both styles so this might give me a reason to do two playthroughs to play the missions both ways!

Best part is... this game will be set in 1579. Ezio met a Chinese assassin named Shao Jun at the end of his life. She went on to train many apprentices, one of whom would form the Japanese brotherhood of assassins around 1567. So... I'm hoping we may finally get to see her in a proper context, outside of AC Chronicles. She will most definitely be more of an old mentor figure. And given what I've read so far about gameplay... I am intrigued. As an AC fan, you can count me in on continuing my journey through all of the games and getting more of the story/lore.

Bypassing the trivial arguments, I'm more concerned that Ubisoft cranks them out like an assembly line now, and I believe quality and overall story has suffered for it. Maybe this one will be different, who knows.

Naoe the female assassin seems based on a Sengoku Japanese Ninja I think her family name was Narita, a daughter of a minor Sengoku Daimyo based in Kanto, one of the most hotly contested area in Japan that eventually became Ieyasu Tokugawa's base and the current capital region of Japan. Yasuke's story usually ends at around the time Nobunaga Oda was assassinated and his fate is unknown but given that he is wearing armor with the family heraldry of the Oda clan seems like he will be still under the service of Nobunaga. During his assassination, Nobunaga only had two retainers with him in the temple he was resting in for the night that is, Yasuke and Mori, so I can't wait to see how this plays out and who is actually the main antagonist. Nobunaga was somewhat a tyrant who sowed chaos in his wake but his goals were also just to put an end to the warring in Japan.

Here is a true question, How many characters in Assassin's Creed (AC 1 through AC Valhalla) were playable and if any of them were true historical people from the past? The ANSWER is very simple, "None."
All the "playable" characters in AC 1 through AC Valhalla were all fictional characters, Yasuke was a real historical person who was nothing more than a retainer, not a samurai.
Yasuke IS A REAL HISTORICAL BLACK MAN WHO WAS NOTHING BUT A RETAINER FOR Oda Nobunaga! "Real Historical Person," Yasuke was and is but a "Retainer." The other Assassin's Creed characters from Assassin's Creed 1 through Assassin's Creed Valhalla are "Fictional," characters that DO NOT EXIST IN ACTUAL HISTORY. Altaïr Ibn-La'Ahad (Fictional Character), Ezio Auditore da Firenze (Fictional Character), Captain Edward James Kenway (Fictional Character), Adéwalé (Fictional Character), Aveline de Grandpré (Fictional Character), Bayek of Siwa (Fictional Character), Alexios and Kassandra (Fictional Characters), Basim Ibn Ishaq (Fictional Character), and others that are not based in our past historical history. That is why I always stated to other people that 80% is Fact because of True History for Assassin's Creed Video Games, then there is the 20% Fiction that has "People", Places, Items, and other things that are in the game, are not in our past history. Yasuke "IS A TRUE HISTORICAL PERSON IN JAPAN," NOT A FICTIONAL CHARACTER, you can say, "fantasy," all you want but we all know that Yasuke is a real black man who was a retainer, not trained to use the katana, he cleaned Nobunaga's Katana's and other weapons that is what a retainer does. Sorry to say in true historical words and more true blunt historical words Yasuke was a retainer meaning he was a servant to Oda Nobunaga. Not my words but in actual dictionary definitions, Retainer is a person attached or owing service to a household especially a: SERVANT or b: EMPLOYEE.
There’s discrepancies in Japanese history about Yasuke and we don’t know he was a retainer or a samurai that was trained. There is basically no actual documentation except for a few stories, but stories can change over time because of different perspectives, different things happening different mindset. Just like for example, that if you say something from a long time ago by word-of-mouth, then someone says it in a different word or words than that word-of-mouth or whatever you said can be different. And we cannot forget about WWII that many things could’ve been lost because of the war, and we may never know from certain items to certain documentations were burnt or been completely annihilated because of the two bombs, but we don’t know. I’m not saying that this can be a true story or not but all we know that he was nothing more than a retainer and that is it. I am sorry to say, but until there is actual more evidence like where is Yasuke Katana sword? Where is it? Does anyone know? Because if you have that sword and it has his name on it and approves that he was a samurai, but in the end, no sword, no proof that he was a samurai.
Both Greed and WOKE is the message and agenda on both UBISOFT and Sweet Baby Inc. and Black Gamer Girls, and DEI Money. There is no story or the Hero's Journey in this game. Assassin's Creed is just now a "Shadow Shell," of itself and an empty husk. You know if only the Baka writer read Japanese History a lot closer than instead of 2 characters to play, there could be only 1 character to play. There was an opportunity they could have used instead of a fictional black samurai character and in real history he was a retainer not a samurai. If only they read Japanese history carefully and throughly they could have made the only one Japanese Female Assassin Character. Combined both true history and fiction, Japanese women at the time did learn to use a particular weapon called, "Naginata," a Polearm weapon with a curved blade at the top. While the katana sword tends to be associated with male samurai of Japan, a distinctive weapon called the naginata has been traditionally associated with women and female fighters known as onna-bugeisha. This could have been the base of a Japanese Assassin's Creed Story, with a Japanese Woman who learned to use the Naginata and eventually learns the way of the Assassin's Brotherhood.
Do you know why they don’t want to make a game based in Africa, especially in Assassin’s Creed well because in actual history, many of the warring tribes enslaved their own kind. In about 90% or even 80% of the black population of today, don’t want to admit that their own kind in Africa, their own ancestors in Africa enslaved their own kind. This is why they don’t want to make any Assassin’s Creed games based in Africa. I know they already did Egypt, but I am talking other African countries or places in Africa other than Egypt like South Africa, Algeria, Ethiopia, Kenya, Rwanda, and the other 48 African countries.

The assasin is japanese wym. My Japanese friend thought the trailer was cool. Even my Vietnamese friend can't wait to buy the game. Its only the white guys complaining online from what I've seen so far. The same people that are mad about this game loved the (last samurai) though. Its all just hypocrite stuff imma skip. 😂

Game set in Arabia play an Arab. Game set in Italy, play an Italian. Game set in North American, play a Native American. Game Set in the Caribbean, play a Pirate. Game set in France, play as the French. Game set in England, play as English. Game set in Egypt, play an Egyptian. Game set in Norway and Britain, play as a Norse. Game set in Greece, play as a Greek. Game set in Japan, play as an African?
Look I get the other protagonist is Japanese, but that is missing the point. Adewole was a great character for AC Freedom, and they could have done a DLC as Yasuke here, or just tell an African AC story in Africa. This is a missed opportunity for sure.
Also on another note, Yasuke was not historically a Samurai. He was a retainer. He was never giving a fief which all Samurai had. There are not historical documents on Yasuke being a Samurai either. I think the idea played out by pop culture is cool, but just tone deaf, and very woke.

Why do you think some commenters feel the need to say that they're fine with playing a black enslaved character in the Caribbean? Maybe because they know they're sounding a lil too racist and are trying to be slick and convince themselves of how _logical_ and _historical_ they are. I'm willing to bet money that these same people didn't get into the same fervour about Valhalla's many historical innacuracies (except when there are women or queer people, of course, that's completely unacceptable). We all know how much they love tatted-up nordic-looking men and what they represent.

Definitely looking forward to checking this out. Hope it has some great areas with interesting architecture and landscaping to wander around in which is what I liked so much about Origins and Odyssey. I really had a fun time living in both of those, just wandering around getting into whatever in between story missions. So I wouldn't really be considered a traditional AC player.
I need to see more before I make a decision. I mean otherwise if im forced into choosing based on this. Nahh I'll pass. I havent even beaten Syndicate yet anyways (or a lot of other AC games I own lol)

Interesting. I haven't been this hyped since *Black Flag* . The setting intrigues, and the chance of maybe playing both. I know *Odyssey* gave us a choice of one, but I can't recall if *Syndicate* allowed the portrayal of both at once or both based of story progression a la GTA 5.

Yasuke is from East Africa he had his name changed when he became a samurai. he was a bodyguard for a Portuguese missionary he was the tallest man in Japan at that time actually a foot taller and while training he would defeat 10 samurai worriers.

It's going to be so cool to play as Yasuke. So little is known about him before and after about a fifteen month period, so his story is perfect for some good ol' Assassin's Creed historical fiction. I can't wait.

@@AlexAttention Brother, history has always been written in a perverted state by the victor/succeeded rule and we will never know the realities of convention defying events from back then. There is literally biography on him that claims he was a samurai and that is kind of enough for AC titles to add their Templar/Assassin spin to make their stories. It started with Leonardo Da Vinci in AC II (I haven't gone back to AC I for a long time, so don't know about the historical figures there.)

Going the RPG route was the biggest mistake Ubisoft ever did with the AC games, and it’s only after all the controversies surrounding Ubisoft that they now do a feudal Japan game after almost 2 decades!

I dream of the day they make games for the Wild West, World War II, the war in Vietnam, the possibilities are almost infinite even a civil war based Assassin’s Creed game would be awesome I so can’t wait to see what the future of Assassin’s Creed hold in store for fans like us

As a bit of history the black samuri you play as is Historically accurate he was the first black samuri named Yasuke
I love that we get to play as him! Gunna be awesome to learn more about him!
Yasuke was the first African Samurai. Lord Oda Nobunaga became in awe of his big stature and his beautiful dark skin.
He wasnt truly a samurai, just worked for one tho.

There is little documentation about Yasuke. The Smithsonian Museum's text does not provide any evidence that Yasuke was a samurai. There is a record that Yasuke fought in a building a few kilometers away from Honnoji Temple, but that alone does not make him a samurai. Oda Nobunaga's retainers were not just samurai, but also included his errand boys and servants. In the Honnoji Incident, errand boys and servants were also killed in battle. The definition of a samurai varies by era and region, but simply taking part in wars, accompanying the battlefield, or fighting with a weapon does not make one a samurai.
Sorry but check the site it's overpriced at 130 dollars also not really why using yaskue bc he wasn't all that special he's just the first black samurai that's it and he is not an assassin the girl is I'd rather play her more bc she is assassin if there's RPG mechanics this will flop hard bc that shouldn't be in an assassin's creed game.
