What people don't give enough credit in the prequels is the Anakin arc. The saddest part of Vader at least for me, was that he never truly was a “villain”. Yes he committed atrocities against the younglings, the Jedi he hunted and those Palpatine sent him after; but it’s not like it was him being evil that made him do these things. He was born into slavery, freed by the Jedi whose Council only sought to control him; use him as a weapon against the Sith. He wanted a way to protect the ones he loves and Paplatine used that and twisted him into what he became. Palpatine convinced him that the only way to save Padme was to join the dark side as the Jedi wouldn’t even approve of the relationship. It wasn’t like Dooku who had control over the Dark side in the beginning it controlled him. The way I see it until he saved Luke he had been a slave his entire life.
@@James-xw8li In what conceivable way could he, or anyone really, have delivered "I don't like sand" in a serious, compelling and emotional way? Hayden did what he could with one of the dumbest lines in cinematic history
I find it so poetic how in the original trilogy Vader often just stares blankly at nothing, like there's always something on his mind; like he's always calculating every second he gets. They then copied that in the prequels, since Christenson always just stared blankly like he's always thinking about something, like he was having a secret war that takes place in his thoughts. This shows that Anakin was just as conflicted as a Sith as he was a Jedi; which lead to his redemption in Return of the Jedi, just as much as his betrayal in Revenge of the Sith. I just can't get over how poetic it was, and how funny that we all thought Lucas was bad at film making, but man the tables have turned.
George Lucas isn't particularly good at actor directing or directing in general but make no mistake, the man is one of the best writers of our era and we have all had the pleasure of seeing his creativity first hand. Without him, there would be no Star Wars.
When i was a child darth vader was no more than a cool pop culture icon i adored because of his cool armor and amazing skills... But as an adult i see the torture and everlasting battle between anakin and vader. The traumatic experiences he suffers from every single moment in his existence... Untill. Light shone once again. His son who loved him despite his deeds. A son who saw anakin and released him once again.
This was absolutely amazing.... i interrupted an entire meeting at work to have every star wars fan on the floor to watch this in the conference room. The finale was met with applause and tears. Thank you for this amazing tribute, your vision and creativity tieing in Anakin's journey , is mind blowing.
Vader only feels awesome because we only see him in short periods of times in movies. If he had an entire movie/series dedicated to him he wouldnt feel so special anymore if we see him on the big screens.
I hate to say this since I love the character, but a Vader film would likely go very badly. That's why Lucas showed Anakin in the prequels instead of Vader until the end, despite people's misgivings.
It really wouldnt be a good idea though, after all the 2 sagas are themselves about the rise and fall of Anakin Skywalker. There is no plot to Vader, that is simply his lowest state, there can be no change for him without Luke's story.
@@bossman4121 you could always just play that recording of Anakin mutilating young padawans for 2 hours. Im sure that would get a PG rating. As much as i'd love more Vader content, it just doesnt have any story to it, there is no narrative or thematic journey for him at this point of his life.
@@user-pf4vq1fy7n darth.frontVR Kylo didn't lose anything at all compared to Anakin, neither did Rey. They were more like teens with identity crisis, Anakin was a slave, his mentor killed, his mother died in his arms, he had a horrible fear that his wife will die too, but instead his wife and friend betrayed his father figure (Palps) who then turns out to be the Sith and as the only voice of reason actually be onto something, then gets left for dead by his only friend who betrayed both him and justice. Then, he learns, he accidentally murdered both his wife and his unborn child, the reason he became involved with the Darkness in the first place. Then, he gets mentally and at times physically tortured by the Emperor and his hatred. At least from his perspective. All of a sudden, he learns his son is actually alive and about to be a Jedi, finds belief again and love and sacrifices himself to save his son. Kylo Ren had a family who didn't have time for him, was lonely with Luke being some kind of father figure, then gets fucking wonkers by the Emperor whispering dark shit in his mind with nightmares & Co, wakes up to his mentor trying to murder him, instantly turns dark, murders his father, technically kills Luke and ultimately helps killing billions of people, then turns white again though because he fell in love with a girl and they live happily ever after. Rey didn't know who she was, finds a lightsaber and happens to be invincible, joins the republic eh .... or kinda suddenly rebellion, sees a man dying she knew for a few weeks, and I don't actually remember anything else bad happening to her. I guess Luke died, so that was sad? Next thing you know she helped killing the Emperor's puppet and then kinda channels all Jedi before her or something because she's the Emperor's daughter and the Emperor's actually alive and then just killed after controlling the entire weather. So, that happened. Right. Rey and Ren are nothing compared to Anakin's torn heart.

I’m not a fan of the prequel movies , Attack of the clones is probably one of the worst movies I’ve ever seen I’ve only watched it twice and the 2nd time I had to watch it in halves But I enjoyed seeing Hayden & Ewan in Kenobi & Hayden again in Ahsoka , there performance’s where greatly improved I’m a little to hard on the prequels , I can pick it up and watch it and be like ahh that was shit , but then I think of George making this trilogy 15 years after making the most iconic movie trilogy in cinema history, being involved in basically ever part of the production I should forgive the cast for feeling a bit wooden when their director is to quote Bilbo Baggins “stretched thin like butter over too much bread “ The man is a cinema legend… and I’m someone who was disappointed in a few movies he made fuck me right 😂
He was never truly a Jedi and never truly a sith. He was the perfect balance, the normal human being ruined by the Jedi and the Sith each trying to make him like them.
I prefer the canon one, it shows that Obi-wan is a lot weaker than he was before and both him and Vader are scared of how strong the other could be. They both don't want to make too big of moves in fear that the other is astronomically stronger than them that they both barely attack each other. It's a perfect way to show how much both of them were scared mentally and physically from what happened in episode 3 and how much fear they both had for each other

@@IliaTS that has nothing to do with hope, it's just a matter of time honestly. One day someone is going to see this and hire you or something :) I would definitely, but I need more money to hire you and some famous actors first 😂😂
First of all, as everyone else is saying, this is fantastic work. I was just old enough to see A New Hope when it was released in 1977 (I went with my closest friend, his sister and mother). Hard to explain just how astoundingly different and exciting that famous opening scene was, it was literally true that we'd never seen anything remotely like it. The whole movie continued like that. Vader, too, made quite the impression even though he was on screen for surprisingly little time. The Empire Strikes Back was much more his film, just as Return of the Jedi was arguably Luke's although you could say A New Hope was his and RoTJ was Luke's AND Vader's. This wonderful video does another thing, too. For all that the prequels copped some hate, you've demonstrated very well how there was a fully developed story arc and character development behind the tragedy of Anakin turning to Vader and then his redemption and fulfillment of the prophecy of the Chosen One, wherein he destroys the Sith (including Darth Vader). Of course we then get this latest, garbage, creatively bankrupt cash grab of a trilogy from Disney that makes Anakin/Vader irrelevant. Sorry, kid, you didn't fulfil anything; Sidious was alive in spirit the whole time, and it takes a Mary Sue to do what you could not. Vomit. As a lifelong SW fan, I don't consider the Disney Trilogy to be SW.

Technically Anakin was never fully trained…
@@loganhess1389 He was a fully trained Jedi Knight, as the comment above says.
@@Andrescxli He was never fully trained. He was knighted at age 19. Way too early… And he was poorly trained anyways.
@@loganhess1389 No, he was even being placed on the council, also, was close to being ranked as a master, he was Anakin Skywalker, he was fully trained as a Jedi Knight.
Filoni and Favreau just crushing it with their instincts and the good references . Disney, just get out of their way and let them give us proper Star Wars.
The saddest part about it is Anakin’s willingness to not let Padme die is what caused her to die.....He was doomed from the beginning 😔
One often meets his destiny on the road he takes to avoid it.
Padme died due to her love for Anakin. After he turned she lost the will to live. Anakin was seeing the future if he went dark.
Oisin Bradish the farther he looked into the future, the deeper his connection to the dark side as well because one, his fear of loss would only confirm itself more and two, it takes power to sense the future. The more in depth you want to understand, the more power you need, hence a greater need for power. Not out of hatred, but out of love. My boi anakin was gone after his first dream of that future. 😬
Brandon Myers RIP Master Oogway

Interesting!

RIP JEJ and may the force always be with you. 🌌
Vader and anakin always had fights in his mind (if that makes sense, If it doesn’t just tell me and I’ll explain something)
George Lucas isn't particularly good at actor directing or directing in general but make no mistake, the man is one of the best writers of our era and we have all had the pleasure of seeing his creativity first hand. Without him, there would be no Star Wars.

I don't understand why Disney isn't making a Darth Vader movie. It would only be a financial success regardless.
They would ruin him like sequels

Vader only feels awesome because we only see him in short periods of times in movies. If he had an entire movie/series dedicated to him he wouldnt feel so special anymore if we see him on the big screens.
He is going to be in several of the new shows
I hate to say this since I love the character, but a Vader film would likely go very badly.
That's why Lucas showed Anakin in the prequels instead of Vader until the end, despite people's misgivings.

No Kylo ten was in the middle too so was rey

“You shall be known as... Darth Vader”
That sent chills down my spine man
First of all, as everyone else is saying, this is fantastic work.
At this point it has become a ritual to view this once a month, to fuel me and keep me going
