Not only does Phethola's years of experience as a young wife make her credible but also her level of authenticity! She really doesn't hold back, and she does it with such grace! I completely enjoyed this topic.
I think it's very important for women to be open to anything happening in the relationship in the financial sphere of things especially! I believe in hypergamy and patriarchy but in the same breath I am aware that the sun won't always shine for men to fulfill their masculine roles specially in such volatile times.
I truly love her transperant side so much. She is so relatable as well🤍

Yoh Phetola, this mirrors how my husband and I marriage started. I started following you in social media. This was happening in 2016 to date for us. He provided from our wedding, however from there, no income. This has given me so much peace, because I was the 'weird' one in my circles. My husband was great though in cooking, pick me and dropping me off from work, he would clean. He would do laundry,right now he is pursuing his dream and has started providing financially after almost 6 years. He was great when we had the baby, he was a "stay at home dad" for a whole year which gave me a peace of mind.
Sometime we forget that even if you marry someone with money you can lose it whilst married. Life happens like sickness, lose your job and many other factors.lets just love intentionally

Thanks to not keeping myself for my husband. Be that as it me. In my 6 years with HIV. This God has kept me. But I always say to Him "thank You Lord for the Blood of Jesus! Because WOW: I am now a virgin again who saves lives using my lessons.

That would be my story ☺️☺️☺️ Also: taking accountability for my contribution in all this liberated me. It freed me so much. I so love being Christian. The Holy Spirit teaches me so much daily. Even in my time of feeling lost, pained and forgotten by God. I always remember how far He has brought me.
He is an amazing Father and once we know that. Obeying Him becomes oh so easy 💞💞💞

Honestly: not being biast or anything. But Lerato selling his car for me was more an act of obedience and Faith that Romans 8:28 will prevail. That was stubborn faith right there!!!
I felt it when Phetola said that she didn't want to have sex during those difficult times and I am currently in that situation where sex is just a no go area for me. Finances can really put a strain on marriages. Thank you so much for this conversation, it was really informative, encouraging and giving hope too.

I'm like Pheto with my hubby also in our early 20's and for a long time I worked but he wasn't but he gave me his car to get to work and made sure I had everything I needed. It was no easy for him but we got through it and it made us stronger together. We are so open with our finances

I hear you and agree with you to an extent, because I'm also of the mindset I would never financially take care of a boyfriend... But then if the relationship progresses to a point of seeing a future with this person, where do ladies like M M here, who find themselves in such situations draw the line of supportive girlfriend but also being careful not to play wife.
@@disemellow I believe in letting the man lead. His actions would have let her know if it’s safe to fully commit. Who brought up the marriage topic? Had they spoken about finances and where they’d live. As women we must normalise vocalising our needs within the relationship from day one. If I want marriage he must know and he must be given a timeline. We let men play with our emotions and efforts, then cry victim. I’ve been where she’s at, that’s why now I state my case, then watch how he responds and treats me, from there I decide on how much I should be invested.

She's trying really hard to relate 😅 But on a serious note as Christian women we need to unpack the narrative of men only being seen as "providers" because it's actually not biblical. I understand it being natural for a man to want to look after his family, but let's not claim it to be a form of Godliness.

Yes its good to get involved in the finances even if you not contribution so that you are aware of where the money goes and what costs what. It also helps to not drain the breadwinner in expectations

I agree with Buli lol (37:59).
I think the situation would be easier if you're in your younger years or maybe you are faced with the challenge while you are already married (etc because of covid or retrenchment issues). However, the older you are, it's definitely a bit more challenging to accept. There are more things to look into though. Things have definitely changed.
