Fantastic video right here, I'll never tire of seeing big box PC games being showed off.
And I had no idea that voice-command edition of Aces of the Deep existed! Made a point to collect the rest of the Aces series, but I'll have to track that one down :D

Metal Jesus! I just found your website three days ago, curious to find just random collections to peer at while I was eating a sandwich, and fell in love with your videos. Great stuff, wonderful commentary that's perfectly paced and laid back to listen to, great collection too.
This was my favorite time for gaming and sort of an "age of wonder" golden time for me. I was born in 83 so I was about 10 to 16 when I was playing these interesting PC games. I used to love Bullfrog's games (Syndicate Wars, Magic Carpet) along with Doom and Duke Nukem. When I got older, I discovered this great selection of FMV Sierra stuff (Beast Within, Phantasmagoria 2) and then got into the old point and click stuff. Brings back memories to see those monster-sized boxes.
Keep up the great work, love your stuff! Thanks for letting me geek out real quick!

I had a lot of these "big box game" boxes up until I moved a couple of years ago. Their imagery really helped you visualize the games and put you in the mood to buy them. I owned "Gold Rush!," "Codename: Iceman," "The Colonel's Bequest," "Rise of the Dragon," the King's Quest series, the Space Quest series and the Police Quest series. These are just the few I can remember. I probably owned about half of Sierra's entire catalogue of games.

Thank you for this video. It's a great reminder of how amazing Sierra was in its day. It's easy to forget that Valve and many other companies in the Seattle area wouldn't exist without Sierra's vision back then. Also, it and Lucasarts invented the humor in games that, while not in the forefront now, permeates video games to this day.

Man it's easy to forget how many Sierra published games I actually bought back in the day. Half Life, Homeworld, NOLF.... PC game boxes in the 90's kicked ass. Wish I still had all the Mechwarriors and I-76 as well.

Oh my god, I loved the Sierra Games... and I still love 'em all to this day. My first Let's Play was about the glorious Quest for Glory/Hero's Quest. I stand firm by my opinion that LucasArts/LucasFilm Games and Sierra crafted the best adventure games back in those days. Damn, I envy your collection MetalJesus. You truly rock!

I remember playing the Leisure Suit Larry games at my friend's house in the late 80's and early 90's. In 2000 I got the LSL Ultimate Pleasure Pack and got to finally play LSL 6: the Talkie and LSL 7 Love for Sail. Awesome games. Never played any of the Space Quests but my friend had them all and I remember the music being pretty cool. Nice video!

I loved all the goodies the games would come with...the holy grail of my collection though...SQ1EGA with misprinted box! Only 15 bucks from Germany! Some people have no idea what their selling! lol I know you get this a lot but thanks for all the awesome work you did at Sierra! Chainsaw Monday will always be a black day in the history of gaming. The Sierra adventure games were my introduction to the world of PC gaming, mostly the Space Quest games. Once I started playing games on the PC, I didn't bother with platforms again. Sort of a dual edged sword--I almost entirely missed out on the game systems of the 90s. Seriously, I rarely touched the SNES or Genesis...I think I watched someone play an N64 a few times...and I don't think I've ever personally laid eyes on a Saturn or a Dreamcast.
It's been nice remembering some of the less known games I could not for the life of me remember the title of until finding your channel (Hunter Hunted and Rise of the Dragon, in particular).
My main regrets these days are not having many of these titles and the appropriate OS/hardware to run them. From what little experience I've had, it can be challenging or impossible to run games from the early 2ks, let alone the 90s and before, on modern PCs running Windows 10.

Leisure Suit Larry 1-6... Hands down some of the craziest, funniest series of games that Sierra made, which I've played back in the early 90s. Al and Ken always made an appearance in those games somewhere.

Oh the memories of the quest games (King's Quest, Police Quest, Space Quest, Leisure Suit Larry, Freddy Pharkas). I remember being in my teens, and going to visit my brother who was 10 years older. We would drink, and play those games all the time. My sister-in-law would come down around 4 in the morning, yelling at him to go to bed. Then they would get up the next morning, and I'd still be playing. I would also mention to them, how they might have some phone charges from calling the Sierra Help Line. I swear I spent some weekends at his place, and only got about 3 hrs total sleep.

Thexder was my first introduction to Classical music. I remember Moonlight Sonata was the theme song. Played that sucker on a Commodore PC 10-2 IBM clone with CGA graphics, 640k of memory, and an Adlib soundcard. That 8088 processor screamed along at 4.77 MHz. I remember the poster that came with Thexder, and had it hanging on my wall. Thank you, +MetalJesusRocks, for that memory!

I collect big box computer games too! I basically just hunt the local auction site for old games though lately I have been buying through Ebay after arranging forwarding service to ship to my country.
I think one of my fondest memory of hunting and finding interesting old games was when I bought a complete in box expansion to Diable called Hellfire because as much as I am into the Diablo series, I honestly never heard about an expansion for the first game!
To tie it into this video of yours about Sierra PC games collection, that expansion oddly was not released by Blizzard but it was developed and released by a division of Sierra (It has a logo of Sierra in the bottom). It's quite rare to find nowadays but I don't know if it's worth a lot of money. But when I found it, I was so happy because I never heard about it and it was dirt cheap! 10 bucks or something.

Awesome video, and the fact you had worked for Sierra made me even more intrigued. I love to find as many retrospective videos of the original Sierra game boxes because being born in '88 I was introduced to Sierra by a friend with older brothers who grew up with sierra and therefore he exposed me to QFG and SQ as a kid but I did not buy the games till the latter part of the 90's, which was kind of the last chance to get the final Sierra game series collection releases and never had the original individual games. When the vga SC1 games, both original and remakes were released and they had also EGA versions of those games, like SQ4 and KQ5 etc., where the EGA versions separate products or just extra floppies included in the typical and more common VGA releases? didn't know if you were able to answer that

I got a copy of tribes 2 from my IPT and Metalworking teacher a few years back. Along with a metric ton of older PC games. Apparently the previous teacher had bought a bunch of big box PC games for some reason. I'm from the UK, and have always loved big box adventure games, particularly Sierra. Its much harder to collect games by companies such as Legend and Infocom in the UK, because the first big games retailer (GAME) didn't open until 1993-1994. Before then, most PC game shops were independently owned, and it very much depended on whether the owner of the store had a relationship with the UK sales rep for the American companies. Having said that, I've managed to get myself some rare pieces over the years, but there is always a premium for games here because there just aren't as many copies around.

I think that at the time, Sierra were one of the GIANTS of the hone computer gaming scene. It brought back so many happy memories looking back at these games - many of which I well renember fondly.
However, like anything, Suerra have had their time. They were just right for the period that they were working in.
But, to come back now, it just wouldn!t be the same. The box sets were just beautiful though.
A lot of love, care and atrention had gone into creating these 'pieces of art' ( because that was what they were).
I think, back then though, there was a lot more care and attention that went into the games themselves as well as the artwork on the boxes and maps.
For example I, myself, have the original box set to ' Baulder's Gate: Shadows of Ohm ( I think that's how you spell it).
I also have the box set to 'Myst' as well. Granted, these are not Sierra games, however they prove my point about the sheer beauty of PC games back then, and how games designers approached the genre from every angle.

Love collecting big box PC games. You can always seem to get them at thrift stores at your leisure and for super cheap. It isn't my highest priority but I definitely love them for their displayability, the art and the extras that came with old PC games are just really cool features to me.

I have 3-D Ultra Radio Control Racers by "Sierra Attractions" and it is one of my favorite games. I used to play it on my Vista machine, and it worked great. When I got a Windows 7 machine, it didn't work. Now it works on Windows 10! If you ever had a favorite game that you couldn't play, and then be able to play it again, you could share my joy lol

I think my Sierra big box find so far was coming across a copy of Space Quest 2 for $2...and this was late nineties, when you generally just did not see big box stuff from...well, anybody on store shelves.
Also, I'm really jealous of that Police Quest 3 box, always loved that "slicing through" artwork of the main baddie ;)

Love big box pc AND mac games which are way harder to find. Got a copy of Space Quest 3 with the embossed cover a few months back. Good stuff!

i remember these..we were so poor that all i could do was gawk at my "friend's" collection from afar . he never let me into his room or touch his PC so i used to pretend playing those cool games for a couple of years.

Awesome collection! I worship boxed games! I have to agree with you, Sierra boxed games are so difficult to find! We face the same issue here, in Belgium. But, strangely, if one pops out on eBay, no one really cares about it and I often jump on it :) Nevertheless, I never saw Gold Rush in all those years :D Continue collecting, save them!
