  • Back in 2018 Al Lowe (Sierra game developer for Leisure Suit Larry, King's Quest, Freddie Pharkas & dozens more) invited Paul and I over to his home to dig through his collection of original game source code and files. This is over 28 minutes of behind the scenes I originally shared on Patreon but now I am sharing it publicly since it's a great piece of Sierra history from employee #20. Young gamers today can't possibly understand how legendary the name Al Lowe was back in the 80's. There was nothing like Larry and playing it felt like being a true rebel. Figuring out the security questions meant you were in grown up level. So great to finally see the man. Big fan Al. So glad you're still kicking it. Epic Interview, thanks!

This is extremely fascinating. Seeing Al Lowe talk about the history of gaming and his role in it and the memories of it all is very cool. Younger people today likely don't understand just how different gaming and life was 30 or 40 years ago. This was all new. These people were doing things nobody had done before. It really is something and for all the advancements we enjoy today - and they are cool too - it's nothing like the mystery and wonder of decades ago, when everything was the first one. The first time. The unknown.

Holy cow, This is awesome!!! Playing leisure suit larry at 9 years old on my 8086 turned me into an adult a decade early. Thanks AL!!!!!
LSL 1 was a pirate copy my older cousin gave me, once I beat it, I remember being at the Sears soon after in the computer department seeing there was a LSL Part 2 on the shelf! I begged my dad for it, and the salesmen was trying to talk my dad out of buying it as it was for 'adults only', but I somehow convinced my dad to buy it for me still. Such wild times in my life :)
