you my friend just got 5 news subscriptions me and my buddies were looking for specifically a comparison between the Ruger security 9 and the security 9 compact and we can find a hundred videos about the security 9 vs Glock 19 or security 9 vs a Taurus g2 or g2s or g2c or even G3but you my friend were the very first to compare the two guns that need to be compared if you're deciding whether to buy a Ruger security-9 didn't either full size or compact thank you my friend and keep up the great work
People love to criticize Ruger because they are value firearms. My very first handgun just turned 50. It’s a Ruger Standard I paid $70 in 1971. It’s never been serviced and is still a tack driver. I own numerous brands (including Glock) and I’ve found Rugers to be reliable and well made. My main carry has been the LC9S Pro and Glock 42 when I want something really light. I had been looking to “upgrade” to something with a greater capacity. I seriously looked at the Sig P365 series. I’m now considering the Security 9 Compact. For over 200 less, I can get the basic package plus $70 for 2 extra 15 round mags, a R&R Custom Kydex holster, plus ammo. I have no interest in a red dot optic that would set me back another $200-$300. The tritium sites on the Sig might be nice, but I honestly would rather have a standard picatinny rail and light, which you find on the security series. Finally, if you ever need service, Ruger is second to none and significantly better than S&W, Glock, or Walther.
This was a very good video! You provided excellent meaningful info and I needed to hear this info from you. You showed that the Ruger is super reliable and I appreciate that. Keep it up,my friend. Well done.
I've got 14 Ruger firearms including the Security 9 and so far I have had no issues with any of them. Just ordered a Mark IV Standard 6" to day so I hope my luck continues. The trigger on that Security 9 has gotten better and better every time I shoot it. Really loving it now.
I like your emphasis on knowing your gun -- tendencies, etc. Also, I side with you about being able to pull your gun's trigger regardless of weight. If people who have had to lift heavy objects off their loved one in a moment of crisis can suddenly perform these feats of strength, we can pull a heavy trigger and stay on target which requires a lesser physical demand. Let's put it another way. If 80+ year old grannies can do it (and they have) we can too.
“If you’re gonna mess up, Mess up good, ya know” lol Good video brother, thanks for posting! I was wondering if the full size mags worked in the compact. I’m glad you clarified that for us 🤘🏻🤘🏻
I have the compact security 9 for about 6 weeks and I love that gun. I cannot go without cleaning my gun every time I shoot. I can’t help it even ifI only shot a box of 50. Which I have to hold my self to right now.
@Plinky Great video, brother! I really appreciate your attention to detail and comparing these two pieces. I just bought the compact version for my daily carry piece. For the last year I have been carrying a Springfield XD Mod 2 4” model in 45 ACP. I definitely wanted a much smaller peace that was plenty reliable, and not super expensive. Did a ton of research on various pocket 380 models, and some sub compact 9 mm‘s as well. Your video has definitely helped to confirm that I made a wise choice. Would love to see more content from you. You definitely gained another subscriber today. Blessings to you and yours.
The Security 9 compact, Security 380, the little LCP, American Ranch Rifle in 223/5.56, Blackhawk revolver in 357 mag (made in ‘79) are awesome! Been thinking about replacing my other brands with a like Ruger. Love Ruger.
I have the Security 9. I love it.. Ive been needing a small compact pistol.. This might be my next gun.. Seriously. The S9 was my first handgun.. Then I bought 2 Glocks. The S9 is pretty close to a Glock 19 G5...
Thanks for this video sir. I’ve been going back and forth over getting a Glock 19 or Ruger security 9 original size ever since I shot it last week. I loved shooting it and the price is great for what you get. And now the compact is on sale...decisions, decisions lol
Lol u kept calling the full size security 9 the security 6... but we get what ya meant.. 😂 but ya messed up the 3rd video to 😂. No seriously... it's was a fine review.. very informative and 6000+rds and no malfunction is crazy. I love my security 9 but the slide is starting to rust on me. 😢
I am glad I found this video! I just purchased a Ruger pc 9 carbine and am looking for a companion pistol to share mags with it. I am told the carbine is compatible with both the Security 9 and SR9 series pistol magazines. Would the Security 9 Compact mags be compatible with the carbine too? Also, are the magazine releases on both the Security 9 and Compact swappable for a left-handed shooter? Please let me know the answer to both questions. Thanks.

Good video - I liked your comments about trigger pull… If I need to shoot to save a life, a 12 # trigger pull (revolver) will not get in my way. I really enjoy my RS-9. Can you recommend a light for the weapon?
You can show the reset hold your finger down on the trigger after pulling to hear the brake and then pull the slide back and let go of the trigger again thats the reset
Have you had any issues with the Thumb Safety getting in the way or being a problem being ready when you need is when you carry? I agree, Practice is #1 and Trigger break and reset always seemed silly to me, unless it does not work at all! Also, rounds in a Security 9 is plenty rounds to suffer being at risk of a possible malfunction. You may need it in case of an emergency. IMHO! Good comparison Video, Thumbs Up!
No issues at all with my original security 9 , I carry a lcrx or lc9 , there's always atleast 2 guns within reach and a buck knife and pen light ,I'm over carrying, extra mag 5.11 tactical pants everyday

Yes they do

Compact packs a punch if your not ready for it. Trigger is about is 9lbs of pressure u wont notice it.
