RIP Barry I’m still binge watching your videos 10 years later. You guys got me into guns when I was 20 now I’m 30 and I’m buying em. I know …30 years wasted. Just rewatching as an adult to fully digest the wisdom u left us with.❤
Barry is a National Treasure! I could listen to him forever! Reminds me of my Dad's friend who was an arms expert/gunsmith/reloading expert who also has since passed on.
miss you Barry since I was 17 you and Eric made me appreciate firearms, thanks Eric for giving me the confidence to tell my very anti gun mother that I am going to buy a gun.
I can see it now Barry trying to explain Stryker fire pistols to Jesus and Saint peter .... alright Jesus this Glock is drop safe .... hopefully he found peace
Ahhh the Wather P22, my first gun. I loved it so until it was slain by an overcharged round from Winchester. In a final act of compassion it had the decency to not hurt me as the slide blew apart and rendered it impossible to use.
They learned a lot about guns most folks under extreme stress even won't result to shooting a human u don't know the knowledge they taught and learned about the physiology of guns
I agree Barry is a class act. I called in about a month ago to thank them for the videos and he couldn't have been nicer. Just a great guy. We need more people like him to interest people in shooting.
More and more I think Barry is a really accomplished, natural presenter. He could easily be on national tv. He makes it look easy but presenting and engaging this well is better than some 'professionals'.
I keep coming back to these videos with Barry. I am very comfortable with guns and have shot a ton of different guns and calibers. But I would’ve loved to have a lesson with Barry! RIP Barry! I’ll continue to come back and watch these videos and gather some knowledge.
That what really gets me about this gun/ammo grabbing these past months... first time buyers of rifles and handguns aren't seeking the knowledge past the point of sale. SOmetimes not even before entering the premise of the store. Theres only so much that ya'll can inform these folks and ya'll do a great job of it. I also understand that many people do not have access to an outdoor range that allows drills to be practiced, scopes to be zero'd and such. Really enjoy ya'lls channel and look foward
I'm not American but I'm glad you got the point across about training and learning from people. I learned from my grandpa and his friends when I started shooting at a young age and I try to teach people the same things I learned about guns/hunting... Just like other things in life like cars, etc... guns aren't dangerous it's the people behind them who don't respect them or don't have proper training. Keep up the good work you guys, it's an awesome channel :)
I don't always agree with your point of view but I love how you always demonstrate great gun safety. You clear every weapon you pick up and keep it pointed in a safe direction. Nice work.
I live in Canada handguns are a no go unless you have a special license and it has to be behind two lock and can only take it straight to a from the range
Barry John from Australia I have the up most respect for you teaching people how to shoot, as you said you love it. That's just great. Greetings to you and family from down under
Barry still dispensing his expertise. I'm an older guy and right around when these videos came out I gained a renewed interest in guns and man when I heard he passed away it was kind of like losing an old buddy. I still watch these old shows when they pop up.
We do need more people like him. For the record, the "AR" in "AR-15" does NOT, and i repeate, DOES NOT, stand for Assault Rifle. It stands for "Arma-Light Rifle"
berry you will be greatly missed I would say rest in peace but I know if there is a heaven you are firing off rounds with some of the greatest gunslinger in the world has ever known I Love You Man rest in peace
Barry is the man. Period. I wish I would have had the chance to get to know him and shoot with him. The more I watch these videos, the more I start doing so just to hear Barry talk.
Glad you are adamant about the importance of gun safety. I see so many of my generation come to our local gun safety course ill be teaching at soon, saying its difficult to find a local gun safety instructor. It brightens my day completely knowing that there are people who are very knowledgable of guns but even more of dangerous a lack of knowledge can be.
+Paul Brittain That depends on what you need it for. slugs aren't really that good for longer ranges, so if you're doing anything past 250 yards, you need a rifle. or if you're a competition shooter, you need whatever the league you're in says you need.
I would say a semi-auto rifle (not bolt or lever action) and a handgun would work well for any situation you find yourself in. A rifle short-range is just as deadly and easy to use as a shotgun. The only problem from a rifle would possibly be over-penetration or muzzle flash in the dark. But it would be a fine substitute for a shotgun. Plus you can have 30+ rounds with a rifle, but with a shotgun maybe 9 or 10 at the very most.
Michael Book yes but you don´t need to worry about the muzzle flash if you are against ... 1 up to 3 buglars. the most arent even armed or just carry meele weapons. so if they would see that you would shot at them the least they would do is run at you... and the point of a rifle is to hurt someone or just make him defensless. which is even written in the geneva conventions .
This month's "New Concealed Carry Magazine" has an article on CB holster. It has a small insert article by Scott Wagner entitled, "The Ultimate CCW?" He argues for the S&W J-frame revolver in a .38 special caliber. I have carried one often when attire would not allow me to wear anything else. It has enough potency to keep you safe if you keep your wits about you. Again, great video. Keep up the good work!!!
very well said. this is the best free advice video on youtube. simple, straightforward, and all in all just easy to understand. new people to firearms will be able to follow this easily.
kirbiliusclausius Congratulations, in order to apply for a permit to legally carry you must complete a pistol safety course. At least that's how it is in my state.
Good info. You gave us the model you’d recommend while including some explanation as to the function, characteristics and features of that particular gun type. The responsible message you’re making throughout the video was important and refreshing!
Barry, I began to watch these videos and now I own 14 firearms and my children know what they know because of you. Your life created thousands of gun owners around the world. I still think about you every time I buy a firearm and I’ve told My kids about you. They watch the videos to learn. I learned everything I know about guns from these videos with you. Thank you so much. You are missed, I wish I could call that number and set up a shooting session with you for the hell of it. I always planned on it but you left too soon.
I would give anything to have Barry train me on my first weapon. It's been years since his passing but I only found this channel recently. That being said, I miss the man. God bless his family and he will never EVER be forgotten.
Barry Im glad we have gun knowlegable people like you and Eric to keep us the gun publin in the know and offer personal experienced advice, and thanks to Mr.Moss for allowing you both to do these videos at his establishment! Jman
Losing someone like Barry will make you do a lot of thinking. I can only imagine what those closest to him must feel. All I know of him is from the videos and he seemed like a great person.
Thank you for talking about the responsibility that comes with owning a weapon. That is something everyone should think about every time they handle one. Also: your beard is looking particularly magnificent. Thank you and have a wonderful day gentlemen.
I love Savage! I bought one with a acu-trigger and the wood stock like the one in the video except for the two black dots. It is chambered in .270, very accurate and reliable.
RIP Barry. I had read when I was a kid, way back in the '80's that the way to run a pump shotgun was to tuck the stock under your arm, but Barry is the first guy I've ever seen on UA-cam actually demonstrate that technique.
Great video , Amen . So many people purchase a firearm and do not respect it for what it is. Safety is so important along with proper training. Again , I say Amen.
cont. There are also levels to the permit. You get a purchase permit, a carry permit and a keep at home permit. We don't have concealed carry permits unless expressly permitted in rare cases. You cant carry the gun loaded, it has to be kept in a separate location from the ammunition. If you drive to a range, you have to keep for example, the gun in the boot and the ammo in the passenger compartment, or vice versa. You can also leave it stowed at a gun club and use it there at the range.
Unfortunately I live in NY where you need a permit to buy a handgun and it's pretty much impossible to get one here. So my first gun was a maverick 88, then I bought a Savage 64f 22lr before I went all out and built my fixed mag ar15 with a 10 round mag bc of all the BS laws we have here.
Barry, you're one good man. I wish I lived in your neck of the woods. My wife and I would be taking handgun training classes under you. I too think an instructor working one-on-one or with no more than two like you described is the best learning scenario for the student, not to mention the fact that it would also be safer.
I agree with your choices & the order to buy them. For practical purposes, handgun, shotgun, rifle is perfect. However; I do find it easier to break in people that are unsure of shooting with a low powered rifle first. It's just not as scary to them at first. After they get used to something going bang in their hands then I go to the handgun. That's for people that are unsure of or scared of guns. If someone needs/wants something for protection,I agree 100% with pistol first. Another great vid guys
Thanks, Barry, for encouraging the training aspect of gun ownership. Although your videos are fun at times, and sometimes crazy, the videos overall teach.
I actually meant the posibility to go to any walmart and buy a firearm there. The carrypermit I knew about before, but the need for a license to even buy a gun is new to me. Thank you for the information.
Eric! Used the tung oil on my old (42 yrs old) Revelation tube magazine .22! Turned out so sweet! My can of tung oil is now making the rounds with my buds! Now they're all putting fresh coats on their stocks! Thanks!
My first gun is .223 Ruger Mini-14 stainless steel ranch rifle it's a 582 series. I also picked up a Ruger 10/22 collector series in forest green. I bought the Mini because they will shoot any bullets you put in the mag. I picked up the 10/22 because it's cheap to shoot. They're both fairly accurate. If I miss then I'll just shoot till I hit it. Ya got 25-30 try's.
Hey, Barry. Nice video! My first gun was an 8MM Yugoslavian surplus Mauser. :) Thanks a million for all the time and energy you guys put into your videos!
Thanks guys. I fired a Glock for the first time today at my Concealed Weapons class. It was a Glock 17 9mm and I tell you what, I really liked that gun. It felt good in my hands and it had a good recoil. Awesome gun.
Check out the Sig Sauer P250, different calibers and sizes, all interchangeable and the slide is easy to use. And price wise you cant beat it. The rear sight is solid and can be used with a solid holster to chamber a round, just catch the sight on the edge of the holster and push downward.
Watched your videos for some time now but commenting for the first time...what a educational video this one is..excellent information for beginner like myself. Please keep up the great work so we newbies and experienced ones can enhance our skills. Thank you so much!,,
I really like what you say about being knowledgeable about your guns. I have friends that buy guns and i go to the range with them and they have no idea how to work the actions or the safety protocols that come with being a firearm owner. I live in Canada and there are more intense laws up here with firearms in general and even tho there is a course to take to get a gun license, people only know enough to pass the minimum requirement and that is just wrong.
Yep...getting ready to move to Mississippi from California. Me and my wife are gonna have to take a trip to Georgia to come see ya and take a class with ya! Cant wait!
One of the biggest problems most gun owners will make, especially if they only own one or two guns is that they will not lock them up when not attended. If I am not carrying a gun or in the room with it, it is locked up. I have a big safe and several smaller safes that are fast access. The prize of any burglar is finding a gun, especially a handgun. I think it would be great if you guys would do an Episode on different options for securing your firearms from theft. Keep up the good work.
well said! In Canada we have mandatory Safety and education training and exams before we can purchase, and as a former Brinks guard I know that training and respect is if the utmost importance! Good vids!
Lol. I own three of the guns he showed, and one in every category. S&WE 642 with a shrouded hammer, best of both worlds, single/double without pocket snags. The S&WE SD40 great guns for the price. Trigger isn't 2 stage, but with practice it doesn't really matter, I wouldn't hesitate to shoot it 50 yards. I own the mossberg 895, pretty similar to the model you showed but corrosion resistant and 8 round tube. Then I own a marlin model 60, Tikka T3 30-06, and S&WE M&P15. Love every gun is own.
Great video. The best gun in the world is one a person has, and has trained with. I think the best tactical accessory for a firearm is range time. Most people don't understand the level of dedication and training necessary for responsible firearm ownership. They forget about the "responsible" part, and then buy whatever "looks cool" or whatever they saw in a movie or on TV. There's too much media/Hollywood nonsense, and not enough fact circulating out there.
"Power of life & death in your hands"... Quite true... But equally true if you're holding a set of car keys, a box of matches, and many other things that can edit the phone book if mishandled.
A very succinct, erudite and comprehensible exposition on a vital subject. As a qualified instructor in pistol, rifle and shotgun (albeit lapsed now due to age) I know whereof I speak. Here in NZ, owning a handgun is obstructed with so many regulations as to render their defensive use virtually impossible. Carrying ANY sort of gun in public is virtually forbidden, and violent crime is easy for the criminals as they know that their victims will be unarmed. A national "gun free zone" for them....
I got started with a little Ruger 10/22 when I was a kid. I started when I was a little girl but I have used .22 rifles to get some of my friends started that were reluctant to shoot at all & it works well to get them started. Of course people coming in wanting a self defense gun are totally different than those that aren't sure they want a gun at all. Cheers to the humble .22 rifle.
I bought a Mosin Nagant and spent days getting familiar with how it works, how it shoots, and everything about it. Every gun I buy, I familiarize with everything about it.
Man you guys make me wish I lived in the Atlanta metro area more and more every video. But alas, I am CANADIAN and even with our cracked gun laws, proudly so. Keep the awesome coming!!!
RIP Barry I’m still binge watching your videos 10 years later. You guys got me into guns when I was 20 now I’m 30 and I’m buying em. I know …30 years wasted. Just rewatching as an adult to fully digest the wisdom u left us with.❤

I wish I had the chance to go to the range with Barry. RIP.
+Ben Aniol I agree, he always appeared to be a nice guy.
Damon I didn't know he died.
That six these vids were great
Was going to say the same thing. Rest in peace friend.
Don't do this to me😱😖
I stop in Moss Pawn couple months ago. Would have been something to have met Barry years ago there.
I don´t know how many times i watched the videos with Barry. I could listen to his knowledge about guns all day long. Thumbs up from germany.
Born To Survey ist bei mir gleich
Not for the the wreck and the planned rugar I'd be retired come-on begenners
"I'm not running a puppy mill." You hit the nail on the head with that one! Thank you Barry, for all the classes you teach.
I wonder if Barry still showing folk how to shoot in heaven. Sure wish I could have met him.
I can see it now Barry trying to explain Stryker fire pistols to Jesus and Saint peter .... alright Jesus this Glock is drop safe .... hopefully he found peace
It should almost be a stained glass window on a cathedral Jesus learning to shoot from Barry
He is probably giving a class tomorrow morning. Always liked him.
This man got me into firearms and I’ve been hooked ever since. Man I miss these days.
Ahhh the Wather P22, my first gun. I loved it so until it was slain by an overcharged round from Winchester. In a final act of compassion it had the decency to not hurt me as the slide blew apart and rendered it impossible to use.
I am sorry for your loss.
"You put a scope on this and you have a squirrel killer from hell" rip Barry 😢
I recently stared watching this channel, and I really like Barry it breaks my heart knowing he passed. He is in a better peaceful place now.
They learned a lot about guns most folks under extreme stress even won't result to shooting a human u don't know the knowledge they taught and learned about the physiology of guns
U talking priceless data I've learned from these gun channels
I agree Barry is a class act. I called in about a month ago to thank them for the videos and he couldn't have been nicer. Just a great guy. We need more people like him to interest people in shooting.
Would've loved to hit the range with Barry and gotten some tips. He was a good man and an amazing teacher
More and more I think Barry is a really accomplished, natural presenter. He could easily be on national tv. He makes it look easy but presenting and engaging this well is better than some 'professionals'.
Squirrel killer from hell!!! Lol i miss Barry

RIP Barry! I’ll continue to come back and watch these videos and gather some knowledge.
damn that would have been cool to shoot with Barry
Barry made IV8888 the best gun channel. Miss ya Barry!
I wish I could have some basic training with Barry!
I can't express how much I would like to be able to pick up the phone and set up a class with Barry. God rest his soul.
I'm not American but I'm glad you got the point across about training and learning from people. I learned from my grandpa and his friends when I started shooting at a young age and I try to teach people the same things I learned about guns/hunting... I know-my comment was posted ~2 months before he died when the channel was saying he was having health problems
I don't always agree with your point of view but I love how you always demonstrate great gun safety. You clear every weapon you pick up and keep it pointed in a safe direction. Nice work.

I enjoy these videos so much, and especially the ones that Mr.Barry was in.
I swear to God. In every video that takes place in the shop someone opens a can of soda at the beginning of the video. Who's doing that?
You're right! Holy sh*t I've been watching these guys for years now and never noticed!
I always thought that was the action of a weapon being cleared.
Always thought it was a beer

very well said. this is the best free advice video on youtube. simple, straightforward, and all in all just easy to understand. new people to firearms will be able to follow this easily.
I don't get how people realize a semester of driver's ed is necessary but gun classes are optional.
Because people don't drive guns in traffic in populated places everyday.
There exist people that carry guns in their cars, or wear them everyday. There are also people who take driver's ed and hop buses.
kirbiliusclausius Congratulations, in order to apply for a permit to legally carry you must complete a pistol safety course. At least that's how it is in my state.
@Vito:There are states where those classes take place before the concealed carry but not before the FOID card.
kirbiliusclausius As far as I know, the FOID card is only in use in Illinois.

Thank you so much!,,
Do I know all of this? Yes. Am I gonna watch this and enjoy every bit of it? Yes.
The ghost of Barry... speaking the truth. R.I.P
Just bought my first firearm the other day, marlin xt .22 bolt action. Really accurate and im loving the heck out of it!
I'm glad you emphasized safety
When Barry says "now" I always snap to attention 😂
Great video. The best gun in the world is one a person has, and has trained with. I think the best tactical accessory for a firearm is range time. Most people don't understand the level of dedication and training necessary for responsible firearm ownership. They forget about the "responsible" part, and then buy whatever "looks cool" or whatever they saw in a movie or on TV. There's too much media/Hollywood nonsense, and not enough fact circulating out there.
Great video Barry! I'm going to be driving through your area from Florida so a stop at Moss Pawn is a must.
I don't think it's an obsession, more an appreciation and respect for such things.
The world needs more Barrys.
I bought a Mosin Nagant and spent days getting familiar with how it works, how it shoots, and everything about it. Every gun I buy, I familiarize with everything about it.
"Movin' on up the ladder..." Barry's phrase of choice when talking about guns
Man you guys make me wish I lived in the Atlanta metro area more and more every video. But alas, I am CANADIAN and even with our cracked gun laws, proudly so. Keep the awesome coming!!!
