      Erik Racz - I was not going to view this Video in its entirety until I heard the Enthusiasm coming from Justin.
      The Raptor is Just a Badass looking Truck. Ford has finally realized that looks will get that ridiculous MSRP $$$$.
      Truck guys want Big Tires and a loud Throaty Sound.
      Along with much more Rubber on the tire instead of a 20, 22, or 24 Rim with a little Tread attached to the Rims.
      Best tire and wheel set up was a 15” Rim Consumed with a 35”
      12.50 tire.
      Put that back as Standard equipment on every Ford Truck & I bet Ford will be working OVER TIME to keep up with demand.
      I put a Solid pan Rim with 33x 12.50
      On my ‘95 Bronco the day I bought it Brand New and within a couple months there were hundreds of Trucks, SUV’s and a Few Cars Running the same exact Rim. Almost all the trucks now had my Rim & Tire Combo . Truck guys were cutting off Fender portions to accommodate those Beautiful 33 X 12.50’s, Oh Life was beautiful then..

      As I stated in the comments on another AT truck comparison video, I’m never going to be interested in a squirrel with it’s nuts twisted(eco-bomb) to make it run like a bigger motor!!!
      In this Roush conversion, the baseline cost of the F-1500 XLT is probably around $45,000-$50,000!
      The supercharger is where a large chunk of the extra $30,000-$35,000 price tag is going, then you add the tunable exhaust(that can’t be cheap), the tires and wheels upgrades are easily $3,000-$4,000, the leather interior upgrade is another $2,500-$3,500, I am disappointed that they didn’t put any of that extra money towards the brakes system because those bigger tires and wheels will require more stopping power over stock wheels and tires, not to mention the extra horsepower(that most people are going to be experiencing every chance they get), all those factors combined need to be able to be controlled and stock just is not adequate enough for that job!
      I’m betting that stopping distance from the stock F-150 XLT to the Roush conversion has increased noticeably(probably 15-30ft overall)!
      But then again, what do I know, I’m just a keyboard jockey here(maybe)!

    At the same price - 80k to 80k, I'd take the Raptor mainly because of the better suspension setup. However, more practically, you can take an XLT F150 and build it mechanically to the spec of the Roush F150 for a little over 50k including the purchase price of the truck. The Fox 2.0 can be had for around $1,100 (skip the Roush version, they are identical), the supercharger for $7,700, and the exhaust for $1,000 to $1,800. So at a little over $50k for a Roushified F150 and $60k for barebones Raptor, I think the power, sound, money saved, and ability to have extra bed length might sway me to the Roush truck living in the Northeast where there just aren't a whole lot of places to let a Raptor stretch it's legs. If I lived in California, Utah, or Colorado and had desert and trails to let these things fly on, I'd take the Raptor.
    I've got the Fox 2.0 setup all the way around on my truck, it's a decent system, but it's not a huge night and day difference over stock, particularly running really beat up dirt roads at speed. The biggest difference I found with the Fox 2.0 honestly is actually on the street, cruising through the Adirondacks, the truck is really planted and handles really well. Now I only have a small amount of time in a Gen 1 Raptor, but I can say hands down, the ride is way more comfortable in the Raptor then on the Fox 2.0 setup.

      Forgot to add that Installation by Certified Ford Dealership in order to be able to purchase Roush Warranty on $7.8K Supercharger is around $2K and warranty from Roush for $3/36,000 is another $995 as of right now.

    • @exparrot9074
      @exparrot9074 5 років тому

      Even with the extra 3k for labor and warranty, an XLT F150 with the roush parts still undercuts a Raptor by a bit. At the end of the day it all depends on what you are going to use the truck for and what you prioritize. If you want the big V8 noise and shove and wont be bombing through the desert, the Roush add-ons aren't a bad option. Personally, I could leave all the plastic crap Roush puts all over the truck. After a couple thousand miles on the Fox 2.0s I'd even say unless you really want a level, save the cash and put it towards the supercharger. Though frankly, the whipple kit is where it's at for these coyote motors.

    I’ve owned both of these vehicles and you are 100% right the raptor far exceeds the quality of the Roush . The Roush always seemed kind of cheap and cheesy to me and I only kept in about six months I was so disappointed in it. The supercharged 5.0 V8 in this truck was unimpressive to say the least I felt that the raptor although only a V-6 had enough power for what you needed for on the truck. Oh yeah forgot to mention my wife had the Rauch pick up that was non-supercharged and the build quality was far superior to the supercharged version I don’t know why that would be. Her truck actually sounds better to I was one of the complaints I had at the dealer when I picked up mine they just wasn’t as loud and rumbly as my wife’s truck.

    I think most people forget (or don't know) that you can really have the best of both worlds. This is what I would do:
    Buy the Roush S/c. Buy aftermarket carbon fiber fenders +3 or 4 inches (not fiberglass). This alone will give you the wider look of a raptor. Upgrade to Led headlights from theretrofitresource. Then upgrade your suspension setup to icons/foxs/kings. You'll have a better suspension setup than a factory raptor.
    So you'll have a truck that outperforms a factory raptor in every department without the raptor name.. . Easy decision for myself. Roush all day.

At first I thought the Roush F150 was something I was going to love and yes the HP and take off with the exhaust was awesome but I took them offroading and you can't beat the Raptor in a Rockcrawl or Baja mode. Its just not the same with holding its value as well so just a heads up on ever owning a Roush F150 SC, it will depreciate quicker because its a stock XLT Model with the Roush upgrades compared to a Stock F150 Raptor.

    Great vid. I’m deciding on which one I want to buy it’s a tough choice. Too bad the Roush raptor still has the eco boost motor. The V8 is the better motor. Love that sound of the supercharger and exhaust!!!!

  • @Fiterpilot
    @Fiterpilot 5 років тому +3

    I love the look of the Raptor. And I like the off road capability. But there are some issues for me that would make me take the f-150 over the Raptor.
    Size. Off road (like when hunting per say) having a truck that wide is just going to get all the paint eaten off and it will be harder to fit in tight places. Now the F-150 is still large and harder to fit than a smaller Tacoma for example. But it is still smaller.
    The engine. The Eco boost sounds like SHIT to start off. Nothing kills the appearance more than seeing a big, aggressive, fast truck that sounds like a Honda Civic regardless of what exhaust you have on it. Also the turbo'd aspect makes it a little less reliable than a supercharger.
    This also gets in to how you achieve those torque and HP numbers. With the eco boost you don't get to see those awesome specs if you aren't giving it plenty of gas. The turbos have to be pretty spooled up and into the higher RPM ranges. RIP your gas milage. Your standard 5.0 will make better power across the curve with better gas milage than the eco boost.

    • @americantrucks
      @americantrucks  5 років тому +5

      You raise a couple of good points up top in regards to size and sound, however I have to disagree with your final thoughts. You act as though turbo's are some new 'untested' technology in regards to reliability and that's just simply not true. Not only has Ford been using them successfully for the last decade or so with their gasser trucks, Diesel applications date back even further with fantastic long term reliability. In fact their far more common in practical, every day situations compared to a roots style blower. Secondly the power to pedal input argument is silly- both trucks require a good amount of throttle input to see 'advertised' numbers and in our testing the Ecoboost actually achieves far better mileage compared to the supercharged V8 (despite the larger tires)- which really shouldn't be too shocking to anyone with basic automotive comprehension. Either way, thanks for chiming in and glad you enjoyed the video! -Justin

    • @Fiterpilot
      @Fiterpilot 5 років тому +2

      @@americantrucks I appreciate the response. I know turbos are tested and I'm not trying to come off as if they're basically an engine detonator. But a naturally aspirated V8 built right will rub longer than a turbo'd v6 as a rule. Tho you're right it's probably not as bad as I think. And I could be wrong about the power too. Most of what I know is from a more limited amount of research. I was just sharing my thoughts :)

    This comparison is not legit in my mind. Both Ford F-150 have been modified once. A stock F-150 is modified by Roush and a stock F-150 is modified by Ford into a Raptor. The comparison should be between a Stock Roush and Stock Raptor. Your Raptor then went to another set of modifications on top of what Ford did to turn an F-150 into a Raptor.
