The famous Taj Mahal in Agra, India is one of the wonders of the world. Have you ever seen an inside tour? We also show you rare footage of Inside the Taj Mahal.
The Taj Mahal is an ivory-white marble mausoleum on the south bank of the Yamuna river in the Indian city of Agra. It was commissioned in 1632 by the Mughal emperor, Shah Jahan (reigned 1628-1658), to house the tomb of his favorite wife, Mumtaz Mahal.
Construction of the mausoleum was essentially completed in 1643 but work continued on other phases of the project for another 10 years. The Taj Mahal was designated as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1983 for being "the jewel of Muslim art in India and one of the universally admired masterpieces of the world's heritage". Described by Nobel laureate Rabindranath Tagore as "the tear-drop on the cheek of time", it is regarded by many as the best example of Mughal architecture and a symbol of India's rich history. The Taj Mahal attracts 7-8 million visitors a year.
Inside the Taj Mahal, the cenotaphs honoring Mumtaz Mahal and Shah Jahan are enclosed in an eight-sided chamber ornamented with pietra dura (an inlay with semi-precious stones) and a marble lattice screen. But the gorgeous monuments are just for show: The real sarcophagi are in a quiet room below, at garden level.

I remember the first time I had visited Taj Mahal with my family in 2010 summer. It was a sizzling day with temp around 45 to 47 degree.. I was feeling dissapointed by the harsh weather but when we finally entered.. The very first glimpse of the Taj a cry went out of me.. I was not alone.. It was sheer magical. As we entered.. Taj wasn't visible.. As we walked the white monument started to rise against the summer lighted sky.. I was speechless so as my family and all others.. Such is the mesmerising effect of Taj. I went berserk clicking the monument in every possible angle I could think of at that moment. We stayed there exploring till the fire ball started to sink in to the horizon. What I noticed that as per the sun rays at different times.. the colour of the marble changes.. I can vouch no other monument in the world has the memerism effect as Taj. It's just amazingly beautiful and so elegantly designed manually without the help of modern tools and machinaries..

This is one of the mughal monuments, apart from this you can visit red fort,agra fort(moti masjid in agrafort is majestic you would feel like you have landed in moon fully white marble),itimad ud daulah,sikandra(akbar the great tomb), humayun's tomb, fatehpur sikri(lost city of mughals) these mughal monuments are also beautiful

The Taj Mahal is by far the most incredible man made thing that I have ever seen and I've been around the block a time or two. I'm ashamed it took me til my 5th trip to India to visit it. This was built at about the same time the Pilgrims were eeking out a living/barely surviving in Plymouth Mass. 1620. Bravo. Well done.
The great cathedrals of Europe had already been built for hundreds of years when the Taj Mahal was constructed. Norte Dame was completed by about 1345, for instance.

Having been to the Taj 3 times in different seasons & different times of day, & once in early monsoon twilight silence of being almost alone ( just 2 other people were there) at the main plinth of the monument at dusk was absolutely surreal. I have always marvelled at how exquisite a structure the Taj is, set in its almost Mystical surroundings of its corresponding structures, Mughal gardens & the Yamuna with its seasonal ebb & flow. The actual interiors & tomb chambers are very dim so this video is a marvellous way to see the beauty of the inlay & filigree within. The view from the domed terrace is not allowed to public so that was a very special treat. This video is indeed a true Gem to behold & a perfect tribute to the Taj Mahal. Thank you so much.

I came to a news once that carbon detection report of Taj Mahal shows it is 300 yrs older than Shah Jahan. 2. while studying about Indian arts during my college days we learnt that the designs were not pure but mix of all the cultures.There were different design theories applied. Example Lotus . 3. The history books available for that period were written mostly by emperor himself or by their patrons- they changed the history as they wanted hence these books are not fully trustworthy.

Shahjahan was engaged to Mumtaz in his childhood when he was 14 years old.He had strong affection towards Mumtaz.He gave her the title,"Malika-i-Jahan".And about high birth rate in his family.Do you know?
It was common in those days to have more no.of kids,but it doesn't mean that there was no love between husband and wife.It existed and we have no right to judge them regarding their married life .
And about Cutting off hands of workers ,it was totally myth, there are no proper evidence regarding that.
And after building Taj Mahal those workers were also engaged in several other Projects for example monument in Shahjahanabad.

It may have been "built upon" a previous existing temple, but the building we see today is a mughal architecture. Compare it with other monuments in Arabian countries and you will see.
