I've been riding 77s for the last 5 weeks and I love them, at first I was afraid of wheel bite and went with Bones hardcore bushings - bad idea! They are not designed for Ace's and mess up the geometry. I went back to stock bushings and they just work better like that. You get used to the looser ride and they carve great. I went with 3/8" riser but settled on 1/2" soft risers, no wheelbite and I can lean as hard as I want into turns. I set them up on a 10.5" Alva metallic rocker with 59mm Alva conicals 103 duro.
I followed your lead on the AF1s. I went 66 (9.25”) on my Frankie Hill. It’s an amazing setup for carving/surfing like maneuvers. It’s hard to explain how something engineered for responsiveness can be a stabile truck at higher speeds. It’s some kind of voodoo I think 😂👍🏻
Really like the shape of the deck. Reminds me of the decks I first had in the late 80's, albeit with more nose. I had a spin on a buddy's setup, that he brought some years back to his spec, and I instantly got reminded of my early days. Much heavier than my current setup but very familiar feeling and fast af!
So I just picked up a used board that had Bones Swiss in them and one of my wheels was making that horrible sound as well. I took the bearings out of the wheels and found out the problem was the crown that holds the bearings was a bit out of place. Once I pushed it back in, cleaned them up with some rubbing alcohol, and re-lubed them with speed cream they rode really great. Before retiring those bearings definitely give that a shot. Skateone also sells replaceable crowns and individual bearings on their official website if only one or two bearings are having issues.
I have some of the Ace classic 66’s (9.35), and they not only turn better than my 215’s, but they grind better on slappies, too. Keep hitting those curbs!
I don't know what it is about ace bushings but the more you ride those things the better they feel 🙌 me personally haven't even been using bones bushings anymore. Sometimes I run 2 medium bones in front for turning but the ace stocks have been loving me lately 🙃
Ceramic bearings are fast but are susceptible to impact. Bones Swiss Ceramic use the black balls which are stronger than the white. used in cheaper ceramic bearings but they can break from repeated impact. You may want to use regular bearings for slappy boards and save the ceramics for bowl boards when you need them speed.
you like the stability of the bigger trucks. i bought a new deal Siamese 9.5 that is the same shape you seem to prefer but the trucks i have are indy 159s and they need to be bigger because right now it looks like im riding a magic carpet
New info from riders I have talked to. Two people have had the pivot cups rip. One was left with the truck hanging by the kingpin. But I am still interested.
I've seen one gentleman with a torn pivot cup on his Aces. I think the key is soaping the pivot cups and bushings (been riding mine nearly two months without issue). I shaved off some plain bar soap (no scents or dyes) into a Visine type eye dropper bottle with distilled water (add one drop for the pivot cup, top and bottom bushing. (no need to disassemble)). The soap gets chewed off and flaked away which removes most dust/dirt/sand and leaves a residue that eliminates squeaking (which is friction and most likely the cause of tearing)..
I got a pair of the golden AF1 66s. They look good but I’ve yet to try them. I want to ride them with the king pin flush with the nut though and get some of that ’loose trucks save lives’ feeling going. I just wonder how big the wheels I’d dare put on those trucks would be without also putting risers on there. I don’t think I’d dare go over 53mm if even that.
I just ordered a 10x33” moose blank because it’s the only big board I can seem to find in stock now (with a decent WB). I’m currently riding a 9.25” Welcome Golem deck, with 169 Indy trucks. Is it hard for you to go back and forth between Gullwing & ace trucked boards? I’m starting to look like one of your many clones...I got the gloves & pads...probably the trucks and just maybe a lucero deck if they ever get made available???
Yeah I switched from Indy to Ace. I love them!! Plus looks like Indy bowed to the woke mob and changed their logo so that also made it easy for me to make the switch
I just ordered a 10" Schmitt stixx BBQ deck. Do you think the ace af1 77s would work well on a 10" deck? I'm currently riding a Andy anderson 8.45 with ace classic 44s and it's a perfect pair
Yes, I am one of the dudes that thumbed up the "air to hip" comment. Hollow trucks, go down to a 8.8, 54mm wheels.for one fuckin trick. I ride a 8.65 and a 9.5 right now indys on the 8 ace on the 9 covid and stimulus learned me about m'self I prefer a squarish tail and shoveling nose (that's what sh...nevermind).
I'm 230lbs and I ride on the tighter side. I always use bones hard but I really liked what came stock with these truck. I may not ever ride another truck. These trucks made me look pretty good today. 👍
I don't care about the bushings, I also adopt the bones ones. I hadn't got this axle format until you showed the gullwing, "benchmarking". I don't like it.

ACE makes some harder bushings now, if you don't already know
Are you using spacers? Get away from wheel bite in bowls, it's too scary in my humble opinion.

Thank you great feedback.. I push those hard👍
I need another set😁
I never went back to indys after I experienced those things. A true blessing 🙏
So true, I'm in love with the new ace trucks.

Man your bowl skating is epic, looks so satisfying!
Thanks so much
Throwing some surfer style into those carves! You are killing it!

I thought I would hate them.. not so 👍

Damm those bearings might be knock-offs. Sad to say it but it happens a lot with online stuff.
Maybe

Lol,I like big trucks. Grab a set of ace 77 you'll love them.

I'll be watching that pivot cup thanks for the heads up.

I love Ace trucks, but they have yet to make a damn 8.75" truck. Ace bushings are perfect from the start and only get better.
Agreed !
Bones speed cream does wonders ok crunchy bearings. Pop shields off and spin some in then pop the shields back on.
Yeah they need maintenance.. 👍 I'll do that
15:38 I know it is from a different movie. Maybe Top Gun but as soon as I hear Wolfman I think of the cult classic Monster Squad.
I'm really tempted to put some 77s on my 10" deck
I bet you'll really like that👍

Haha, awesome..
I don't have a very hard time switching at all. 👍
Digging the vlogs, may I ask what camera gear and mike your using, please? Much appreciate Marty Australia
Just my phone samsung note 20 and a Rhode mic, the small shotgun $50
@@ProdigalSuns thanks, does a good job

Yeah I think it's fine. Did you know thunder 181s are available now.. made in America 🇺🇸
That's a 10" truck.. I personally love it
Just ordert a 9,5 Deck with the 77s Hope they‘re not to Big😅
You'll love it👍
@@ProdigalSuns Damn I Love them👌🏽
Why do you keep making the notches in your trucks? I can see you felt more comfortable when learning but you've gotten your skills down now.

Ride Bronson ceramics, life changer.
I love them
When are you gonna air that hip man 🙃👍
That would be cool, do you think I'm ready for that.. grab or olly?
@@ProdigalSuns I think early grab bro 🤙🙏
So does ace only have one bushing available? As a heavier dude I have to put hard bushings in my indys
I'm 230lbs and I ride on the tighter side. I always use bones hard but I really liked what came stock with these truck. I may not ever ride another truck. These trucks made me look pretty good today. 👍
Why did you make them like gullwings there ment to be crosslocked kinda like it but
I don't ride loose enough to cross lock confidently..
@@ProdigalSuns ohhh that actually makes sense have you ever tried gullwings
@@Jiggityjax yeah the pro 3 is what got me to love that shape. I also ride mission 10" trucks..
Af1 77 on a 9.75 or 66?? What do you recommend??
77 for me👍
He’s like a broke down ol Mark Wahlberg sounding azz
Loose trucks baby yeah ,, don't be afraid just go with it 🙏
You need a strap on that helmet. It won't do any good like that when you slam it will go flying before your head hits the ground.
I don't care about the bushings, I also adopt the bones ones. I hadn't got this axle format until you showed the gullwing, "benchmarking". I don't like it.
Ace 77 by far my favorite.
@@ProdigalSuns its not tricky for grinding?
Dudes, when he’s skating, close your eyes and imagine a fat old stupid plane
No, that's actually a plane flying over. That park is right by the air port. 👏
